On the day of, we were running late in the morning, but Justin showed up early and even kindly stayed 20 minutes later than scheduled to make sure we could squeeze in all the group pictures that we wanted. Also, to both of our surprises, my uncle showed up with a camera, but Justin was very understanding and accommodating about the matter and made sure both he and my uncle were able to capture shots without getting in each other's ways. We found David after he did our friend's wedding about a year before our wedding. My wife was a bridesmaid at that wedding and remembered how at ease he made everyone in the wedding party feel. We corresponded with David through email and after working out a few details of our package, we hired him to do our engagement session and wedding. Our engagement session took place at two locations on a crazy humid Los Angeles day. We were able to photograph at our favorite restaurant Bavel and we moved over to The Row for our second location. At each location, we gave David a few minutes to scout each place and his eye for the perfect picture was amazing. About two weeks after the shoot, we asked David for a few shots so that we could use them on our invitations. We knew that we were asking for a pretty quick turnaround but David was able to oblige. The engagement photos turned out great! We got married in Rancho Palos Verdes and David knew exactly where he wanted to take us before the wedding. He chauffeured us around the sleepy beach town to different locations and after seeing the shots, we were happy that he did. At our wedding we had one request, we really wanted to emphasize photos of our family since my mom would get mad if we didn't have them. David was happy to oblige and not only did he get individual portraits of everyone, but we also have some spectacular group shots. Overall, David made the whole process was pretty easy. While David, my wife, and I know how hard and awkward it was getting us into the perfect poses, none of that awkwardness can be seen in the pictures. I am rewriting my review of OC Event Photos because even after four years, looking at our proposal…read morephotos still makes us disappointed and sad. We planned this proposal for about a month with Corey and specifically discussed capturing the actual proposal moment. Unfortunately, the photographer missed a significant part of it and only started recording after my proposal was already underway. This was a once-in-a-lifetime moment that cannot be recreated. The photos themselves were also extremely disappointing. Our faces had heavy, distracting shadows even though this was a summer daytime shoot. We received fewer photos than we expected based on what was promised, and the quality was below what we were expecting. The photographer's attitude made the experience worse. He arrived without even saying hello and left without saying goodbye. For something as personal and important as a proposal, the entire interaction felt cold and unprofessional. When we complained, Corey defended the photographer rather than finding a meaningful way to make things right. After we posted our experience on Yelp, the situation turned into arguments over our review and requests that we remove it. What bothered me most was that there seemed to be more effort put into getting the negative review removed than into resolving why we were unhappy in the first place. We also paid through Venmo, which left us with very limited options when we were unhappy with the service. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend using a payment method that provides purchase protection when hiring any photographer for an important event. Four years later, this still bothers us. Instead of having beautiful photos that bring back a happy memory, we look at them and remember how badly such an important moment was captured. I am not removing my review simply because the business does not like it. This is my experience and my opinion as a customer.
