The food is not as greasy as other spots and I never feel nauseous after eating their food. The chicken fried rice and sweet and sour chicken is my favorite! Compared to most other Chinese food places after Covid whose prices are always raising without notice and food is minimizing, Happy Star has actually been a pleasant find. Reminds you of a Chinese store in the city, not real attractive on the outside. Kind of just grab and go kind of ambiance, Not the friendliest encounter with the cashier lady either but the food is good. The meat is real, chicken is real, not rubbery or questionable, I wasn't crazy about the Sesame chicken, it was very garlicky. But the General Zso Chicken and Beef and Mushroom were great. I work up the street and I love Chinese food so they had a loyal customer until today the woman's attitude has always been a little funky she never smiles she grimly says thank you sometimes but most of the time she's quick and cold which is fine as long as the food is good I'll pay whatever but today I ordered two shrimp rolls which is what I usually get on my lunch break when I'm short on time and I get to work and it's two cheesesteak rolls in the bag I have never eaten a cheesesteak roll in my life I call her and tell her and she's like no you ordered a cheesesteak roll then she's like OK if you bring it in I'll give you the shrimp rolls like am I being punk shrimp rolls are only like one dollar I can't believe she was serious and I won't be back such a weird situation. Of course I did, I'm like a monkey when it comes to Chinese take out! Total $116.80, minus using a 10% off coupon=$111.43 with tax, free delivery and a hefty cash tip, but now I know what to order and what not to order in the future. These were all quart sized servings, except for the sushi, their prices for sashimi and sushi are unreal and I will be ordering this from them more often! The place was awesome but the food had changed it was very bland and the other people that was with me got some other combos and they felt the same. Located in a rundown small strip commercial center where New York Camera is located on Bridgetown Pike, Happy Star Restaurant is at its root a take out joint with a couple of tables with ripped/torn chairs for the unfortunate few who opt to eat there. I belong in that group, as I was returning from a meeting and wanted to have lunch before arriving at my office. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken, as I often do the first time I dine at a Chinese shop. Everything arrived quickly on a styro plate and with a plastic fork. Lovely. Clearly they had no interest in making a dine in meal an even minimally pleasant experience. At this they succeeded beyond measure. The broken A/C on this hot afternoon just added to the overall ambiance of careless indifference. The meal itself was pedestrian. Chicken in a thick fried coating, but with a decent sauce with enough spice to know it was not just the same sweet sauce used on other dishes. The fried rice was yellow from the dyed chicken broth the rice was cooked in. One sprig of broccoli for contrasting color. These folks had perfected the art of the cheap combo lunch. No extra charge for churl. Oh, and a can of soda - but extra for tea. So, there is no reason to return other than if I had masochistic tendencies. As I do not, this place will soon be forgotten. I'm pretty "iffy" about Chinese food .. if all of the stars align just right, I'm in the mood for it only about once every three months. . And then I'm wary of where I order. I had my old reliable (Jasmine- Glenside,PA) .. consistently great. . But I just moved to the Feasterville area and thought I should branch out a bit.. Happy Star was "ok". (By the way, I only ever order the same thing wherever I go.. standard Sesame chicken or General Tso.. and crab rangoons) Sesame chicken this time... yuck. . So we used to order from here all the time then they started going down hill- missing items, taking super long, food quality declining- final straw was an error on an order that they wouldn't correct without me having to pay an additional fee (ordered a la cart - they gave me a combo) when I called and told them I would return the item and would pick up correct item / they told me I would have to pay the difference? I ordered correctly - and was willing to go go and pick up - said forget it / stopped going there for over two years! Bring us to today....husband ordered from there / guess what - they forgot a quart of something - when my husband called - they asked him four times to count the containers??? Really??? When he went back I told him just get the money back you don't know what they have done to our food? He packed everything up - so they could count containers - they wouldn't give his money back It was fried rice - maybe $7? You lost a customer over that!??? Shame on you!! I come here every now and again - this part of Bucks County has tons of nice, sit-down Chinese places but not that many take-aways (the kind that have the pictures of platters over the counter). Their crab rangoon is excellent, the chicken rice/noodle soups are OK, the miso soup was pretty decent, as is the wonton. I just stuffed my face with their salmon teriyaki platter and let me tell you - fan-freakin'-tastic. The portion was pretty generous (I couldn't finish it all), it was cooked perfectly, and the salmon was fresh (but it'd hafta be for a place that serves sushi as well as standard Chinese and Japanese fare). It's not Chinatown Cafe but for a damn decent Chinese/Japanese food take-away, I'll stop here before stopping at pretty much any other one in the area. read more

I ordered takeout from here for lunch. I had never had Kung pao shrimp before so I wanted to try it. Over the phone I asked her what came in besides shrimp. She said carrots and snow peas. I open the container to see a crapload of celery and cashews, which I do particularly not like in hot food. My boyfriend and I decided to order from here because the other two Chinese places were either closed or they didn't have what he wanted. I've had their food before and I knew it wasn't the best but he'd never tried it so he was open to ordering from there. We ordered fried dumplings with extra sauce and a small wonton soup. We came in there like 30mins before they were supposed to close, and the woman at the front counter stared us down when we walked in. We ordered our food and paid, but from the way she looked at us and from how little she said, we felt very unwelcome. The food arrived within the time she said it would (between 5-10mins), and since we didn't have time to eat there we decided to eat in the car. To eat his dumplings my boyfriend needed a knife, so he went up to the counter and asked for it. The woman said they didn't have plastic knives; we ended up going to the pizza place next door and getting them. When it was time to eat we opened up our food and, what do you know, there was NO extra dumpling sauce. There were Iike 8 dumplings and ONE small little cup of that sauce! I paid over $8 for that order, and I sure as hell hope I didn't pay for extra sauce because he didn't get it! Also, the dumplings were waaay too fried and they broke apart easily, something quality dumplings don't do. My wonton soup was bland, with thick, battered wontons I had to practically choke down. The broth wasn't anything special. Also, my boyfriend said the food made him sick. To summarize, the service was borderline hostile, the food was worse than standard, and they didn't give the extra items we requested. Please do yourself a favor and order from literally ANYWHERE else; there are better Chinese restaurants 5-10mins away from Happy Star! read more

My husband & I have ordered from this restaurant for several years. The food is very good...but not to die for. Don't know if they had a change of ownership or what but within the last year or two, every time we order, it takes on average 2 or more hours to receive our food. And when you call to find out the status, they are very, very rude. No apologies or anything. Twice, now, the gentleman (?) on the phone said "What, you no want?" He spoke as if he would be more happy to cancel our order, than just apologize. Our delivery person, who has always been the same guy, always apologizes for them & is sympathetic to our complaint. It's not even his business, & he has more respect for his customers than the owner. In short...who needs them...I don't care how good the food is...that's why there's competition out there & that's why I plan to use that competition. So long Happy Star...maybe you should change your name...the only happy person there is your driver! I will be looking forward to reading about your restaurant's demise!! read more

Why they named it Happy Star is beyond me,the girl who takes orders and works the counter is miserable. I have rarely gotten an order right with her. And don't try to ask her a question, she won't hesitate to to tell you to just come in, in 10 minutes and hang up on you. Don't try to dine in there is no heat or a,c, there is always 2 Chinese children there on laptops exposed to the elements. They even have a basketball net and backboard for the kids, I guess they don't want to pay for daycare. The food is spotty at best.the only thing they get right is chicken with curry and onions. And there, right in front of me they took the food outta the containers and mixed it in with the rest of the food they had. We did not touch it, thank god!! Food is good, to my lowered standards, but the orders are always messed up. Rude personnel. Never admit they mistakes or trying to fix them. You need to be rude to their level to prove anything to them, therefore un-staple the bag before leaving the store, or before the delivery guy leaves. They are always messing up the orders. I used to order company lunch every week, they were too busy to properly serve the customer and now they will be one customer less busier. Overall feeling, place looks empty and not clean, have nothing in common with restaurant and should not have this word in its name. How to fix: hire friendly (less authentic) people for customer service, people who don't mess up orders or just fire the rude woman from the counter and don't let her pick up the phone. Being new to the area and my fondness of Chinese food, my son and I thought we would give it a whirl. Our first time ordering we had them deliver. Not a friendly person until he saw my tip. Smh...in our order we had shrimp lo mein, my son's favorite, and he liked it. I had the shrimp broccoli combo. I was satisfied with the overall taste. We have ordered several more times from them but now pick up. The last time I ordered from them, I got the bourbon chicken. Wrong choice. I never in my life had chicken that was so greasy and fatty. The white rice was horrible. Hard, lumpy, sticky...blah. the egg rolls fell apart as if they were not rolled properly. My boyfriend asked if he could substitute rice for lo mein (for which he'd pay for) and they yelled at him, called him names, and told him not to ask for substitutions. They are completely rude. Absolutely Horrid... This establishment service was very very low class and extremely rude. It took then 10 minutes to find my address which only about a mile away. When the delivery arrived we were charged 40 dollars which is hanous; when we all sat down to read the receipt it was only 30 so they stole money from us. Not only the horrid service but the food itself is below average for sure. The dumplings were extremely soggy and the seasame chicken wasn't even seasame chicken. Food is not good. But even worse, they are very rude. When they forgot part of my order and gave me the wrong item, they argued to no end and would not fix the issues. I had ordered online so I still had my order on my phone. They still insisted that I was wrong, and they didn't care if they lose customers. tried this place twice. first time took way long to get the order but half of the food was good. tried it again tonight and again took waaay too long to get the order (hour and twenty minutes) AND they forgot several parts. I had to go back to get the pancakes to go with the moo shu pork and a qt of soup I ordered. after starting to eat we realized that they didn't give us the pork fried rice I paid for, (it was more white rice) so they stole 5.95 from me. well I guess i'm giving it as a gift as i'm not going back. the wontons in the soup were hard, like they had been sitting unwrapped in a refrigerator. the moo shu pork was overly salty and the pancakes didn't seem cooked. the udon noodles in the soup were a little chewy and we didn't realize that beef udon would come with fake krab with the beef. ordered a spicy tuna roll but it had avocado in it that overpowered the fish so not sure if it was spicy tuna or we got the wrong roll. I like sticky white rice so that is good. The chicken with garlic sauce is mildly spiced with a good flavor, they can make it spicier if requested (or we just got lucky the last time). all in all there are better places around that have better service so I think i'll go back to them. read more

So i just recently moved to feasterville and called to order sushi from happy star and the woman over the phone was very rude. I was trying to give her the correct address and she cut me off and said the driver will call you. Which was fine i wasnt too mad about that, but then she tried hanging up before i could give her my credit card info. Then after i did i ask if i could have two egg rolls or two sodas with a purchase of $25 or more as listed on their coupon on the menu. She yelled at me saying i dont get both which i wasnt asking for, then i asked her how much the order was and she said $24.65. I mean i know i didnt hit the qualifications of the $25 or more for that specific coupon but there was no need for the attitude i received over the phone. so i asked if i could buy another egg roll so i could reach the $25 point but once again i guess she didnt understand my english and insisted i was trying to get things for free. i can't even put into words the way i was treated by this place without using expletives of my own. they were so rude to me and my children. my husband ordered shrimp with lobster sauce, and it came with not one piece of shrimp in it. when he called to inquire, he was told, "oh! we changed it to chicken for you!". what?? first of all, you changed it for me? second, there was no chicken in it either! after calling and being treated like a piece of s*** on the phone they finally agreed to bring us the proper dish.oh! also, we were supposed to get free cheese dumplings with a purchase of $35. instead, we were given a bottle of orange crush soda. my children, unknowingly opened the soda and drank some of it. when the owner arrived at my door, he insisted on taking the soda back as well as the meal that they had f***'d up in the first place. he actually stood at my door, opened it and inspected it like we were some kind of "shrimp criminals". let me just say, that it almost got to the point of calling the police he was so rude, ignorant and almost violent! never again!!! please stay away from this hell hole of a place! read more
