tried to search for a place that had both boba drinks and good food so we tried Happy Tea Cafe. we got the vegetarian baos and egg rolls. the baos were sooo dry they crumbled apart once i bit into it. it tasted like it was in the deep freezer for awhile.. this is unfortunate because i was super excited for this. the egg rolls were fried but still cold in the middle!! when it was served to us the lady told us to "be careful cause they're hot." they in fact, were not. the boba drinks were disappointing. i've had plenty of roasted oolong teas in my life and there was nothing"roasted" about the tea. it tasted like it came from a powder packet. my husband got the strawberry lemonade with lychee jelly. this was ok, but something was off. once we walked into the store, they told us they were out of honey boba! it's disappointing to walk into a boba shop and be told they are out of boba :/ to top it off.. as we waited for our food, the people who ordered after us asked for a drink with boba and the employees told them that they had "a little bit of boba left and it's ok they will give it to them." my jaw dropped lol. lastly, THE EMPLOYEES WERE FRIENDLY so no complaints on that. never will i come back again th read more

They were doing a BOGO deal on DoorDash, and I ordered a BOGO matcha, and BOGO taiyakis. The matcha has decent flavor but it's not mixed in well. There were chunks of matcha in my drinks. The Ube and mochi banana taiyaki were good and piping hot, but to be honest you can't really tell which one is Ube or which one is banana and mochi. read more

ONE employee only... A few weeks ago I went for a drink and never went back. There was only one employee working and it was a FULL house. Unfortunately his management and coworkers failed him because he was left alone for at least an hour while I was there. He was very nice and tried his best but one person alone cannot handle an entire coffee shop! I originally ordered a taro only to find out they no longer serve it. Menu needs to be updated. The self-order iPad was not working either, so the ONE employee had to take everyone's order AND make our drinks/food. Thankfully I noticed all the customers were very patient and understanding. The coffee I had was not great unfortunately. The vibes were okay but this seems to be a recurring issue since the customers seemed to have experienced this before. Went in for their Taiyaki and got the taro, red bean mochi, and ube fillings. The inside has cute murals for your insta pics and a wall for customers to write notes, drawings etc. We saw them make a batch and thought it was ours since we've been waiting for 10 minutes but it turned out to be another customer's order!! Our order probably took almost 30 minutes to finish AND it was on the burnt side! They should've gave a heads up when we ordered because if we had known it would take so long, we wouldn't have waited or placed an order. I've came here before and today when I walked in I was not greeted with kindness rather lazy unprofessionalism no customer service whatsoever . When we opened the door "just so you know we don't have any boba". The girl behind the counter was sitting so far back twiddling her hair with her finger. Her tone wasn't kind. A better approach would be perhaps standing up to greet customers with a smile and "hi welcome in, I just want to apologize that we are out of boba today but don't worry we have plenty of other options to try" we originally planned to go for the taiyaki but the customer service just left a sour taste in my mouth. Happy Tea Cafe is serving up some refreshing teas/bobas and fun desserts. I was super excited to see fresh Taiyakis being served in this area as there isn't still a huge variety of Asian cuisines in these parts. Happy Tea is located in a busy shopping center off 111 highway. I will say parking can be a little hard to grab and tight but if you are willing to park a little down outside of this section of the shopping center, there was plenty of parking just not right in front. This is a good location though as they get a lot of food traffic. The staff here are very nice and friendly. They definitely get busy but we're super friendly and helpful despite getting slammed with orders. Nice people work here and despite how busy they were they were truly doing their best to crank out orders. I also appreciate that they use a number system for calling out your orders! Super effective and kept it from being awkward with random people trying to grab your stuff that are waiting. I love that they keep it simple and stick to calling out order numbers, please don't change this! The drinks and food were definitely 5 stars! My butterfly tea lemonade was super refreshing and visually pretty. You can add one free "add in" but I opted for none this time. Wanted a simple drink. The drink selection here is fire! They have a great assortment and I was happy with my drink and would get it again. They also have a small variety of hot appetizers here like Baos, egg rolls, and tempura. I didn't try this as I was eagerly eyeing their Taiyaki. Wow they also had a good assortment of flavors and to get three for $12 is truly a steal. Thankfully I was mindful that I really shouldn't have more than one and opted for the churro flavor. They are so good though it's tempting to not order a bunch because this was one of the best taiyakis I've had in a while. The sugar coating definitely made it taste like a churro and the inside was buttery and fresh. One of my favorite desserts and this spot does it right. I'll 100% be back and bringing some friends. Only upgrade id give is the restaurant is a little stark and with some cute painting of the walls or even a little bit of artwork / decals this spot could come a long way. While the girls were inviting the atmosphere was a little "meh". Normally I'd dock a star but I really really loved the food, drinks, and service that I think they are still deserving of 5. However, it definitely needs a little extra love and fun vibes inside to make this spot memorable and more inviting from the outside. I know it can be costly but hopefully would be a good investment as you'd get a younger crowd coming in, taking pictures, and being free advertising so I'd like to think it would be a good investment. That's my only upgrade for a spot that's already pretty awesome. Cant wait to come back and try more drinks and snacks soon. read more

Grapefruit paradise: it was average at best . It used to be very good but nowadays they just mix tea with syrup . It taste very average for the price Food : it was way overpriced. The taro bao is $4 each, basically frozen bao from 99 ranch but they reheat it for you . I don't think they even bother to put it in the steamer . Is very dry since they just use the microwave. Saw an ad on insta, the corn dog looked good. I was very excited as I've had Korean corn dogs in the past and really enjoyed them. Come to find out this was a disappointing Korean corn dog. The taiyaki fish I ordered was a 4/10, I expected a waffle taiyaki from the image on their display and received a croissant looking taiyaki, the Nutella and banana part was good, but the croissant was throwing it off, and very dry. I had also gotten a drink and asked for lite ice and did not receive what I requested. My overall experience was quite disappointing due to the images being advertised and receiving something completely different.The drink was one of the best I've ever had, I really did enjoy it, but I wouldn't order any of their food again. read more

I used to love coming here for Taiyaki and boba milk tea, however on Saturday May 3rd I witnessed some disgusting behavior by one of the young ladies; a young kid selling chocolates approached the counter and asked if she like to buy a fundraiser chocolate (which are really expensive and I understand not wanting to buy one), but the girl proceeded to haggle the young boy about not having any money to buy him one, and that she always buys him one when he comes in, essentially guilt tripping him into giving her one for free, to which he did. After the young man left, the girl and her coworker proceeded TO LAUGH at him, stating that she has never once bought anything from him or even seen him!! Stay away from this business, take your money somewhere else where having integrity is part of their business model. read more

We were in the Indio and La Quinta area for 4 days for Coachella. We discovered this amazing boba place on day 1, loved it, and ended up ubering here everyday to get boba before hitting up Coachella. This cafe has a good variety of drinks ranging from milk teas, smoothies, and fresh milk drinks. All the drinks were around $5-6.5 which was a great deal given the size and quality of the drinks. The barista was also very nice and would remake your drink if it needed any adjustments. Over the few days, I got - Fresh peach milk with 50% sugar - since peach syrup was used in this, it was sweeter than I expected, especially when chunks of peach syrup got stuck in my straw and all I was drinking up was peach syrup. It's a really tasty drink though! - Fresh strawberry milk with 50% sugar - this one had the perfect amount of sugar and creaminess. - Taro coffee latte with 50% sugar - I really liked drinking this without mixing the taro and coffee so I could taste the two layers more distinctly. The coffee was really good. - Honeydew milk tea with 50% sugar - this was very refreshing for a hot day I was also able to try some of my friends' drinks - Thai milk tea with 25% sugar - since the tea was slightly bitter, the 25% sugar was perfect. The thai milk tea also had half and half which made it very creamy. - Rose milk tea with 50% sugar - the rose flavor was quite strong but not overwhelming, this was a good drink - Matcha hurricane, taro hurricane - both hurricanes were like slushies and bit too icy and not creamy enough for me. Other than milk teas, this cafe also sold sweet and savory croissant taiyakis. I've only ever seen croissant taiyakis in Akihabara, Tokyo, so I was pretty excited to try them here especially since they're only $10 for 3. I got both the taro and mochi & red bean taiyakis, and both had quite a lot of filling inside the fish. But the best part was the croissant portion which made the fish kinda flaky and crispy. Overall this cafe was a great find. The teas and snacks were great. The environment of the cafe was nice and there are tables that you could chill at and even board games that you could play to get out of the heat outside. Solid Boba shop in the Palm Springs area. The Okinawa Milk Tea with Creme Brûlée Pudding at 50% sugar and ice was perfect for someone who doesn't like too sweet of a drink. Whereas for someone who likes sweet, the Oreo Matcha with Boba and Oat Milk at 100% sugar is a great option. We recommend the pudding over the boba, definitely the main character! They use pebble ice which melts quicker and can dilute your drink quick. They offer snacks but did not try them. The bobarista here was very friendly and welcoming. I do like this place! Several boba shops have popped up here in the valley; and while it's fun to try them all out, I'd say I come to this one the most! The drinks are consistently good (thought I mainly order fruit teas), and if you don't like it, the staff always offer to remake it. The boba has a pretty good texture that manages to balance flavor and chewiness. I don't usually spent a long time here, but they do decorate it nicely to be able to sit and sip on your drink! read more
