I usually never write yelp reviews but I had to after I walked into this establishment today. I went in hoping to grab a boba drink and was immediately bombarded by yelling. I heard one of the employees yelling at another in the back to "shut the f**k up" multiple times before she proceeded to walk towards the front to grab her things while calling the other employee a "stupid a** b**ch". I have never walked into a tea shop or restaurant for that matter to an employee cussing at another for whatever reason. I decided to just leave after I as well as a few other customers witnessed that appalling behavior from the employee. read more

I love a place that can get a large order correct... oh, and also provide quality to their drinks as well! La Quinta 's heat is no joke in late spring til end of summer, so if you want to cool off, support local businesses and head here for a good variety of tea, coffee, and refreshers. You can control the sweet and ice level. The boba pearls itself aren't as soft as other places I've been but it's still on the decent side and Will recommend. One thing I appreciated, not drink-related, was the FREE FEMININE PRODUCTS they offered in their bathroom. Some big businesses don't even do this. Was excited to hear that there would be another boba spot close to home. Although I've heard from some friends that they did not enjoy this place, I had a pretty pleasant experience. I loved the taiyaki!! Banana & nutella always go together. It was hot off the press and they advised me to eat it right away so that's what I sure did. I sat down and enjoyed every bite. I got the rose milk tea which wasn't bad, but I've had better. I'd try a different flavor next time just to have something else to compare to. There's a lot more on the menu! read more

My family and I had the opportunity to go to Happy Tea Cafe while on vacation in Palm Springs. We are so glad we did! We ordered the following; Green Milk Tea with Boba Black Milk Tea with Boba Winter Mellon All the boba teas were so good. Very tasty. Not too sweet while the boba was spot on chewiness. We also ordered a few taiyakis. Red Bean - which I like since it's traditional to Japan. Nutella and Banana for the kids. Pepperoni and Cheese - for the kids. I personally ate the red bean one. It was good but not a traditional taiyaki which the it tastes more like a sweet croissant. As a Japanese person, I like the kind made in Japan but this version of taiyaki was good just not preferred for me. Overall I definitely recommend this place about to go back again if in the area especially on those hot Palm Springs days. read more

Bad customer service. Don't think you're gonna walk in and get your drinks in a timely manner. There's only one worker here and there was two people ahead of us and we ordered three drinks. It's been 20 minutes. She started making our drinks and the first one she made was wrong. It was not what we ordered. She had to remake it. She then gets on the phone to call up another employee and ask if she's coming in. I always give grace to fast food workers, but this is absolutely ridiculous. It's 114° out, we came for three drinks and it's now at this point then 30 minutes. Never again. read more

We hired Happy Tea Cafe as a boba vendor for our wedding. Working with Ann was a pleasure as she was very communicative, prompt and professional. She made sure that the setup is what I was looking for as I showed her my inspo! We stopped by the cafe to try out multiple teas. Ann also let us drop off stickers for the cups a day before the wedding. The tea quality is definitely one of the better ones. Ordered the blueberry matcha and it was interesting...glad I tried, but will probably stick to the strawberry matcha. Tried their croffle and that was pretty tasty. Right amount of chewiness and not overly sweet. I did ask for syrup on the side instead of on top of it. read more

One of my favorite place in the valley for bubble tea. I'm happy they're here, I've been back many times since their opening and haven't been upset once. My favorite is their lava brown sugar milk and their red bean & mochi taiyaki. Customer service is really friendly and they always make your drink as you like it and customizable. They have a rewards card so don't forget to get your stamps as you come! Glad this gems in the desert as they are the only place with taiyaki. Writing this review makes me want another bubble tea. This place has potential to be great but it's new & needs to iron out the kinks. Super busy when we walked in & 3 kids working. We ordered & I showed the one girl on a register my check-in offer for a free topping. She said she didn't know what it was or how to do it. She asked the girl behind her making drinks that told me to push the "marked as redeemed" & she would do it. No dice. She then tells me the owner isn't in & there's no way to go back on the register. So now I can't redeem the offer. Now to the tea itself....this certainly wasn't a "Happy Tea". It had WAY too much ice & my first few drinks were so inconsistent....hot in some spots & cold in others & much too watered down. The drinks were made in haste & it showed. We even tipped! Always do. The Taiyaki was good. I got banana & Nutella. I would go back just for that next time & skip the tea. read more

Service filling food orders was very slow and though the counter order person was helpful quick, she didn't ask about sugar level/amount requested. When my friend asked, the lowest sugar level for her tea was 50% (other places can do 0 and 25%). I tried their new featured taiyaki, but it wasn't like the others I've had. It was preformed rectangular dough pieces squashed between the fish shaped metal forms. It tasted okay but wasn't what I expected. I wouldn't warn people aways, but I wouldn't necessarily send them here either. read more

Really enjoyed my recent visit to Happy Tea. I love the variety of drinks that they have. I ordered their Mango Green Tea with fruit bits. It was the perfect amount of sweetness and had a good flavor. I didn't try their boba, but my friend enjoyed their Oreo Creme Brulee with boba. Visited on 4/21 at 7:10 pm. Ordered 4 drinks and taiyaki online for pickup. Arrived at store and drinks took an additional 10 minutes to make, no big deal. They forgot one of the drinks and proceeded to make me point out on their receipt that it was missing. There was zero urgency in getting this drink made for us, I had to ask for it twice, and then again ask if the drink sitting in the sealing machine was the one I was waiting for. They laughed and said yes. The honey boba was good, avoid the green tea, it was over steeped and bitter. We got the cheesecake and pepperoni and cheese Taiyaki; was mediocre. Thai milk tea was the best, Taro and wintermelon were mediocre. Ratings: Taiyaki 3/5, drinks 2/5, customer service 1/5. I understand mistakes happen but the lack of urgency zero sense of customer service deserves a 1 star. This entire 20 some odd minute process should've been less than 5. The service here is on point! I've been twice and they have a variety of flavors. If your drink is too sweet or not sweet enough they are happy to adjust it or make a new one. Best Boba in the desert, they make it fresh every few hours and you can taste the difference. If you like Thai iced tea you have to try the Thai Hurricane! It's absolutely amazing! I really want to support local businesses and really don't like giving negative reviews, but this boba shop really needs to improve on their drinks. We ordered 3 drinks, and they were all busts. We threw them all out. Their mango green tea tasted like water and syrup, couldn't smell any tea or mango, but at least was drinkable. Their mint mojito was so bad that we barely took a sip. Their signature milk tea was watered down milk and sugar. The only reason I give them a 2 star is because I remember their snacks were very decent. I think if you run a drinks shop, you should at least taste your drinks before you put it on the menu to sell. read more

Fantastic place for tea and taiyaki!!! My wife and I were looking for a place to get tea. Google searched and happy tea popped up. There are a number of bubble tea shops in the desert, but never have I felt so welcomed and appreciated as I did at Happy Tea. We ordered matcha green tea and the mochi and churro taiyaki. The taiyaki was made fresh right in front of us and was steaming as it came out. Absolutely delicious!! My matcha green tea was real authentic matcha from Japan. Amazing establishment. I got a tropical fruit tea and it tasted okay, it kind of just tasted like fruit rinds to me. Some people may like this but it was not for me. I also got their ham and cheese Taiyaki. The outside was really buttery and delicious the inside was fine. The Taiyaki comes with too much outside crust, it didn't have any filling in it, thus they should have cut the excess off because that's all you need, also the presentation would be better because it is just the fish part. I ordered the honeydew milk tea add boba. I have gotten about 2 oz into it and it's burning my throat. It literally tastes like there is a cleaning chemical in it. Extremely bad taste, zero sweetener, staff seemed really confused as to what they were doing. They had to read off a recipe menu to make it. Having relocated from the Bay Area, this boba place is on par with many of the solid tea places I miss. It is by far the best tea/slushie place you can find in the valley. Not only is it authentic but they craft very unique drinks. I also tried their Taiyaki and it is to die for. It was the perfect amount of warm crispy pastry goodness with sweet or savory fillings. We couldn't resist trying boba here when we saw the good reviews. I thoroughly enjoyed my mint mojito coffee with boba! Hubs got the Mango tea with fruit bits but after he had a sip of my drink he wanted to go back and get his own! We went back later that day for another mint mojito coffee but unfortunately someone forgot to add sugar/sweetener and the hubs was super disappointed. I totally get this is a fairly new place, but consistency is key so hopefully things will continue to get better. read more
