I thought I was through with HAPPY TEETH (please see previous review pasted below), but now, more than a year after I posted my last review, Happy Teeth has started sending me a new bill, for god knows what service - and since it is impossible to ever reach any one at HAPPY TEETH, I am posting here just in case they check Yelp every year or so - but I do want them to know I will NEVER pay this (small) bill for the (horrific) customer service they have (not) provided me. Again, the dental service provided my daughter was excellent - I have ZERO problems with their care, Dr. Lal was the best! - BUT THE HORRIFIC NEGLECT OF THEIR OBLIGATIONS TO THEIR CUSTOMERS REGARDING A BILLING/FSA ISSUE HAVE NOW REACHED LEGENDARY STATUS IN MY MIND. In any event, just hoping that they finally someday answer one of my many phone calls left with their answering service, and get back to me with an apology and an acknowledgment that they will cancel this outstanding balance. Also, Just curious, are they really still in business? I am perplexed by their lack of responsiveness as they still have employed an answering service that allegedly takes messages for them. How is it possible that this once excellent business has completely dropped the ball. So weird. I would be very interested to hear if anyone else is having any sort of similar issues that I am having with them . Previous Review from 02/05/2024: I have LOVED Happy Teeth for MANY years for our daughter, until they recently dropped the ball during what may be a "renovation" of their facility on West 70th Street. I placed one visit on my FSA Card back in November of 2023, and the Provider has requested documentation. I have now called and emailed multiple times to no response. I have left detailed messages with their Answering Service (who will not tell me if messages are being picked up). It was the answering service who told me that the office was closed down for renovations, but Happy Teeth's outgoing telephone message does not reflect any office closure at all. As a result of not being able to provide documentation to my provider (Gente) they have shut down my card and I am unable to use it for my current medical expenses. This is beyond frustrating, and I am perplexed that this fine organization and dental practice has abandoned its loyal customers. Dr. Lal, if you read this, please check your messages. Thank you. We liked Happy Teeth for a number of years, but then we finally decided to visit a different pediatric dentist and realized that Happy Teeth wasn't as great as we originally thought. First of all, our cleanings were never thorough -- always really quick. I thought maybe that was because our kids had pretty clean teeth. But when we visited the new dentist their hygienist spent a much longer time cleaning both of the kids' teeth, taking care to gently remove all the plaque they found. Also, please note Dr. Lal's office does NOT do traditional bite wing xrays and they claim that their different x-ray/evaluation methods are just as good ... well, when we saw a new dentist she quickly found evidence (via traditional x-rays) that cavities were brewing in several areas of our oldest child's teeth AND one cavity had reached the tooth enamel and needed to be filled (!) Had this not been found who knows how bad her teeth would have gotten. Dr. Lal's office takes many types of insurance and they have a very pleasant office environment. But I strongly suggest you shop around and find the pediatric dentist that takes their time cleaning and also evaluating your child's teeth. I don't normally write reviews but I am writing this review because I feel other people should know about our experience. I also wasn't a fan of how Dr. Lal often asked us to leave them a five-star review. I'm glad I never did. read more

I can't even begin to say enough great things about Dr. Lal. He's an absolute expert for starters--although he's far too modest about it. He communicates very well, whether over email or in person. He's great with my daughter. He has amazing bedside manner. He's knowledgeable, informative, patient, engaging, caring, and so much more. I'm really happy we found him. And a bit sad that we hadn't found him sooner. As a little girl, I used to look forward to going to the dentist just because of the prize I'd get from the treasure box at the end of my appointment. Sadly, it was only until Dr. Lal that my own daughter ever had this sort of experience at a dental office! I really appreciate Dr. Lal, he's truly a gem. We're truly lucky and he deserves all the praise. (: Oh, almost forgot to mention: My daughter's cleaning was great. And her teeth extractions in prep for orthodontics went flawlessly. He's truly a master of his trade! I'm not kidding, he's impressive. I can't say that about many people. read more

I was there with my daughter for regular check up. We was on time but nobody was at the front desk. We have to wait 10-15 minutes when someone shows up. Then we went to the room and have to wait a auder 10-15 minutes. Finally they started. They said we needed x-ray. They said she have a really good teeth. When I chek out i have to pay over $700 it was a list what they did. I think is going the price this high that should tell the people know what will be the price around. we spend more time to wait then was the full check up was.​ read more

My toddler had her very first visit here at Happy Teeth and I couldn't be happier with how it went. She wasn't the slightest bit scared because Dr. Silva was such a sweetheart. She is amazing with children! The office is spotless and the staff is polite and super accommodating. A major plus is the fact that they're open on Sundays. I will definitely be taking my daughter back to see Dr. Silva for her next checkup and beyond! read more

Dr. Lal is the best. I went to many pediatric dentists to find one that was gentle and caring and also wouldn't be quick to put a child under for a little cavity. They have iPads and some great large stuffed animals in the office as well as a cool treasure chest, tv's in all the rooms with kids shows on. I definitely recommend. read more

This is a wonderful practice. We met with Dr. Yoo and he was fantastic. He trained under Dr. Lal and took the time to explain what he was doing and answered questions very thoroughly and thoughtfully. In the past we've met with Dr. Lal and he's great. My kids are already asking when they can go back to see Dr. Lal! They loved his tooth brushing tutorial, and were thrilled to leave with a tooth brushing kit and a toy from the toy chest. He and his staff were kind, patient, and knowledgeable. Also love that he offers evening hours to accommodate working parents. Highly recommend. read more

You might show up for your appointment and find out that the doctor has gone on vacation without telling you and you will be seeing someone different from someone your kids are accustomed to seeing. Office encouraged us to make an appointment 6 months in advance for the next appointment. The day before that appointment, the office called us and asked if we could come a little bit early so that their staff could go home instead of waiting around for us. On the day of the appointment, when we arrived early as requested, we were surprised to discover that our usual dentist Dr. Lal was not there and a substitute dentist was there to see our kids -- and we did not discover this until our kid was seated in the treatment room. There was nothing particularly wrong with the substitute dentist other than that our kids were surprised to see an unfamiliar face and she seemed to be pretty aggressive about finding and treating cavities (and charging us a pretty penny for it) (but then, aggressive, not aggressive - who knows? - that's the point - we couldn't tell what to think of her since we knew nothing about her and her general approach.) When I complained afterwards about this surprise, they said "One of the parents should have received" an email "from our software system" "if there was a correct email on file" I got several reminder emails from the office to make sure we show up so they have my email address, and I even got a phone call to request that we show up sooner than our appointment so they could all go home early, but none of the messages we got said anything about the absence of our kids' dentist and the person who called us didn't mention it when she asked us to come early. There was never an apology or an admission that this was a mistake (the closest they came to an apology was condescending and transparent corporate speak that is designed to acknowledge emotion while not admitting anything - "We can understand your surprise in this situation.") Merely saying that we should have received some automatically generated email message is insufficient as a response. The conclusion I drew from all this is that they really really did not want us to miss our appointment because that meant less money for them, so they were very vigilant about making sure we show up but not so vigilant about giving us a potential reason to cancel or reschedule. read more

My daughter's first dentist appointment with Dr. Lal could not have been better. Dr. Lal was patient, gentle, and understanding. My 2-year old daughter is a very strong willed child, and I was bracing for disaster. On the contrary, Dr. Lal was able to make a connection with her right away and she was calm and compliant as I have rarely seen her with any other doctor. I got tips from Dr. Lal on how to let me brush her teeth, which is something we had been struggling with, and now she looks forward to it every night. I could not be happier with the whole experience and I won't take my daughter to any other dentist from now on. read more

Dr. Lal and his office made the visit super easy for my 5 and 2 year old. We were able to coordinate their visits and they were very patient with my 2 year old who was a little nervous and wanted to watch his big brother have his cleaning done first before sitting in the chair. My 7 year old son arrived to Dr. Lal with a complicated issue that stressed us all out. Dr. Lal's treatment, combined with his calmness and his unbelievable talent to speak the child's language (have you ever heard of the "Sleeping Juice" that puts your teeth to sleep?) made sure that the procedure ended up in the best possible way. We were grateful for that. The clinic has everything to help kids have a good dental experience: large TVs (so they can watch shows while being treated), laughing gas if needed, small gifts at the end of your visit, and most importantly - friendly, gentle, and professional staff. Based on our excellent experience, we decided that our two other kids will also become patients of Dr. Lal. It is important for us to know that they get the best treatment not only for regular checkups but most importantly, when an issue comes up and you need the most professional dentist to take care of them! read more
