Done one cleaning and crown with the office. The positive, the staff all "seem" friendly. The negative, the lady that did my cleaning made a comment/question "what is the black spot on your teeth", hm, interesting, for a dental office, shouldn't they know common cost of staining on teeth. Needed a crown put in, unfortunately had an extra visit as the initial one did not fit, and color was way off, needed another visit. What turn me away, was billing of all things. After requiring sit down and sign doc before procedure, and paying bill before final crown procedure. I was in surprise to received a $1K bill few weeks after my last visit, call office was told, no worries, just incorrect auto billing as waiting final insurance reimbursement. Fine, except got another invoice 3 weeks later again, another call to office, similar response, no worries ignore the bill. Same issue every 3 weeks for 4 months. Total of 6 bills/text of bill due, and 6 call to their office, only final call that they supposedly finally fixed it after I express frustration. Well I am not going back, no respect of customer time, and horrible billing process. Just hope I won't be in surprise another few weeks down and get billing again. read more

The service here is always top notch, everyone on the staff has always been accommodating, friendly, and very professional. I've spent enough of my own money here to say that the value I've gotten for the service has been well worth it. The doctors are amazing, and I feel that my fears or concerns are always addressed in a respectful manner. I don't necessarily follow all the advice that I'm given, but I can say that the advice they have given me has always been on point. I received invisalign orthodontics treatment from Dr. Billy Choi from February 2019 to May 2020. He did an amazing job. Prior to my invisalign treatment, I always hated my teeth for looking so ugly. Personally, my mouth was the only part of my face that I honestly detested, and that even affected my confidence level to some extent. Finally, with the help of Dr. Billy Choi, I got rid of this underbite (and asymmetry) problem I had with my teeth. I now always feel great about my teeth and my face in general. I smile with confidence, and my interactions with people overall improved a lot perhaps due to the increased confidence. I would highly recommend Dr. Billy Choi to anyone looking for orthodontics treatment. Dr Jeffrey Rabinowitz has been my dentist at this practice for some time and I'd happily recommend him any day of the week. I also highly recommend Dr. Spielman who worked with me for Invisalign. I purchased a Gilt City voucher for a 1-hour teeth whitening session here. I was originally hesitant, because even after a heavy discount, $175 for a procedure that is purely cosmetic, is still a lot of money to me. However, comparing it to the MSRP of $625, I was convinced that it was a good deal, and decided to go through with it. I booked my appointment weeks in advance, through ZocDoc (very useful website), dealt with some minor annoyances that involved being rescheduled twice, and some back-and-forth calling in regards to it. I was able to sort it out though with the Park 56 receptionists, and it wasn't really a big issue. The deal I had purchased was for a choice between either the Zoom! OR the Boost whitening procedure. As I had understood it (from my co-worker who had purchased the same deal), there would be a brief consultation, explaining the two methods before I made my selection. However, when I got there, the hygienist had already chosen the Boost whitening for me. I had been leaning towards the alternative, but trusted her judgement. Whether or not that would've made any difference, I will never know now. I wasn't idealistic enough to expect that I was going to walk out of there looking like a celebrity, nor was I naive enough to believe that I would actually end up with teeth that were "EIGHT shades whiter on average", as described (did they really have to exaggerate that much?). But after sitting in that chair for over an hour, and going through the semi-painful process, I was perturbed to find that my teeth looked... virtually the same. The difference is so subtle, I would have been better off just purchasing some over-the-counter whitening toothpaste or white-strips, to get the same effect. None of the people I've interacted with since, have noticed anything at all. In the clinic's defense though, everybody I dealt with was extremely nice and friendly, so I would like to think that there wasn't any malpractice involved. The hygienist made sure to point out (after the fact) that the consent form I had signed, stated that they would not be able to guarantee any particular results. She also explained that my teeth looked about the same, because they were stained internally. Fair enough, I can believe that to an extent. She then proceeded to try to sell me some of their clinic's products that would supposedly remedy the issue, by being able to clean the teeth from the inside-out. Ugh. Now why would I spend additional money to achieve the results that I couldn't get from your $600+ procedure? I was REALLY fortunate that Gilt City was kind enough to offer me some compensation for my disappointing experience, despite it not being their fault. But what really bothers me, is the thought that I could have potentially paid up to $625 (the original price) and gotten the same results ... I would have been BEYOND devastated... I used a Bloomspot certificate/voucher at Park 56 Dental and did not receive the full service that was promised on my certificate, which clearly stated "ZOOM whitening ($475 value)." I had paid $99 for the certificate, with an understanding that I was paying $99 for a service valued at $475. The ZOOM whitening service was performed on me at Park 56 Dental in late Feb. 2013. After the procedure, I was given written ZOOM post-care instructions and didn't realize until I reached home that one of the instructions states, "24 hours after the procedure you may begin to use the take home kit provided." Since I was not given a take home kit, I contacted the office to inquire about it. I spoke to Carmina at Park 56 Dental, who told me that I was not given a take home kit because I paid only $99. She said if I had paid the full price of $475, then I would've received a take home kit. I tried to explain to Carmina that since the certificate clearly stated "$475 value," that meant I paid $99 for a service worth $475, so I should've received the take home kit. However, she couldn't or wouldn't understand and got testy with me. My call with Carmina ended with her telling me that if I want the take home kit, it would cost me an additional $150. Without the take home kit, which consists of custom trays and bleaching gel, my teeth have pretty much reverted back to the yellower shade they were before the procedure, so I ended up paying $99 for zero results. If Park 56 Dental is going to give a reduced service in exchange for a reduced (voucher) price, then they should state so instead of being misleading and promising the full service on the voucher and not delivering. Finally, the same day that I had the ZOOM whitening procedure done, I also had a cleaning done at Park 56 Dental and paid full price for it, $175 (which, by the way, is no small change for a dental cleaning). I have been to Park 56 Dental twice to see Dr.Ruof and she has been amazing both times. First time I went for a cleaning and it was the most thorough cleaning/check-up I have EVER had. They took x-rays from pretty much every angle possible and then scanned my teeth with this little digital camera (the pictures from that were kind of scary - definitely did not need to see my teeth that close up). Dr.Ruof did my cleaning which was nice since it was my first visit. She was very gentle and and when she was done I felt like my teeth were sparkling. Today I came in to have a filling replaced and about as happy as I could be considering I was having a hole drilled in my teeth. The procedure was quick and painless. Everyone I have come in contact with in this office has been super friendly, kind and eager to make your visit as pleasant as possible. This is by far the best dental office I've ever been to! Park 56 manages to make your dentist visits not horrible (which says a lot as someone who used to dread the dentist). Their customer service is more on par with a 5 star hotel honestly than a medical office, as they are incredibly accommodating and always go out of their way to make me feel comfortable. Before doing anything that may incur a charge (numbing, laughing gas, etc.) they always review the cost upfront so you never check out with a surprise multi-hundred dollar bill. I don't know about the entire practice, but I would stay away from Dr. Ruof. It has taken me over 18 months to write this review because I needed consultations from other dentists. So here goes... I'm 37 now, but was almost 36 when I met with Dr. Ruof. I have never had a cavity, but am a heavy grinder and wear a guard when I sleep. So I do take good care of my teeth. Although I will admit that it had been a little over a year since my last check...I usually go tot he dentist 2x a year. I was tired of going home (Westchester, NY) to see my dentist so I needed to find one in NYC. I searched Delta Dental for a dentist in my network and also a couple of other sites, but not Yelp. It appeared I found my dentist in Dr. Ruof. I went to Park 56 Dental to get a cleaning and a check from Dr. Ruof. My cleaning went well and then she came in. She seemed friendly at first, but then started talking to me as if I was a kid. She mentioned I've neglected my teeth, that I'm in need of a mouth reconstruction. She estimated at least 8 crowns needed to be done and it had to be done immediately. Dr. Ruof also went on to say that at some point all my teeth would need to be done and my bite raised. In her estimation this would cost several thousand dollars, maybe even around $25K out of my on pocket after insurance. I was skeptical since it had only been a little over a year since my last check. So I went home tried to find some more reviews of the practice and of her. I come to find that it seems she and the practice have a habit of immediately recommending procedures that will help the business first, rather than thinking of the patient first. I read reviews where someone has to get several cavities filled after previously never having one. Another review in which the patient needed several crowns. Since this time I have visited to other dentists. Both have come highly recommended via friends and websites. One of the dentists just put a few crowns in a friend's mouth. So I know that dentist isn't shy about doing the work. After meeting with them, both dentists came to the same conclusion...there is no immediate need to have such major work done. They both said there's a lot of wear from the grinding, but that if it was their mouth they wouldn't do anything yet. Both want me to get a new guard (mine is worn down), switch tooth paste and mouth wash. I'm confident in the recommendations from my latest dentist visits for several reasons. First and foremost, the recommendations from my friends, especially the one that just had several crowns done. I'm also confident, in the other dentists because it was more a conversation about options and preventative care, rather than an aggressive conversation about an immediate reconstruction. So my two cents or possible +$20K would be to go elsewhere. I'm worried that too many patients have already experienced lots of unnecessary aggravation, stress and dental work over their teeth with Dr. Ruof and this practice. Again, this review is in reference to a visit I had over 18 months ago. Things may have improved since. read more

I have nothing but rave reviews for Park 56 Dental. I needed a dentist in the city since the only dentists I have been to were back home in New Jersey, but I wasn't about to make a 2 hour trip to go home just to see a dentist. My brother recommended Dr. Herman, who is his normal dentist, and I decided to give him a try. I booked my appointment on ZocDoc, and the same day, I received a call from Carmina at Park 56 Dental to confirm my appointment and provide my insurance policy number. Carmina was extremely friendly and assured me that I didn't need to bring anything (not even my insurance card) to my appointment. When I arrived for my appointment, I checked in at the desk with the receptionist, and Carmina even came over introduced herself when I checked in. She was extremely bubbly and made a great first impression for Park 56 Dental. The office was very clean: brightly lit, wood paneling, leather seats. The waiting room had a lovely mini refrigerator filled with complimentary bottles of water and juice. Since I was a new patient, I had to fill out some paperwork, but I didn't wait longer than about 5 minutes for someone to call my name. A technician took some x-rays of my mouth, and she too was very pleasant. My hygienist who did my cleaning did a great job. When I have tried out new dentists in the past after my childhood dentist retired, they either didn't use enough pressure, and I felt like it was not a thorough cleaning OR they used too much pressure, and my mouth was sore for the rest of the day. My hygienist at Park 56 used just the right amount a la Goldilocks. I wish I could remember her name (I think it started with an R). After my cleaning, Dr. Herman came to check my mouth, and he was very professional and to the point. I don't like dentists that are too chatty, and I hate having to make small talk. However, as of July 2013, I received a notice saying that Dr. Herman will only be working part time since he is moving out of Manhattan, so appointments with him will be limited. When I was done, I had to return to the front desk to make a new appointment where I spoke with Carmina again. She was very accommodating with scheduling, and I left with a positive experience -- a rare statement for me to make considering I typically dread the dentist. My whole experience was painless and positive. I am so glad that my brother recommended it. Park 56 has a great staff, and I will certainly return. read more

I was very disappointed with Park 56 dental. Even though they advertise a safe environment on their website and tv ads, patients continually entered and stayed in the waiting room without masks. Even though a box of masks sat on the table, the receptionists did not ask them to mask up. Furthermore, although they claim "free consultations", I was given a bill for $500 and then told they would not take my case for implants (no reason was given). They also refused to give me a copy of my x-rays. It seemed that they were more interested in the money than a patient's well being. read more

This was my first trip to Park 56 Dental. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that I'm very hesitant when visiting my dentist. Well...by the time I was done with my visit with Dr. Ruof, my hesitation had become nonexistent. Dr. Ruof was extremely thorough in her exam. She had a kind manner and was very gentle. She informed me that I probably brush my teeth a little too hard (I always thought that got them cleaner!) and was slowly wearing away at my enamel. She said that plaque is only loosely associate to my teeth and I needn't brush so hard any longer. So she sent me home with clean teeth and a few new soft bristle tooth brushes! I'm actually looking forward to my follow up visit with Dr. Ruof. I would recommend her to anybody without hesitation! read more

I'm surprised about everyone's bad experiences at Park56 Dental. I've been going there for over 3 years, and have yet to have a bad experience. I like that I'm always in and out fairly quickly for routine cleanings.When I found out I had a cavity, they squeezed me in the next day for a filling to make sure it was taken care of before my insurance ran out (I was starting a new job). They are always clear about what my insurance does or does not cover, and send me my bill after they receive payment from my insurance. Maybe I just have great insurance or perhaps it's because my visits are usually for routine cleanings, but I always have a good experience. read more

I'm a freak and love going to the dentist so since moving to New York have been trying to find one that I liked. Park 56 Dental is incredible and was exactly what I was looking for. Everyone I encountered was professional and very detailed (which I love). Janette took my x-rays and Carley was my hygienist and they both were so sweet and made sure I had all my questions answered. I went to Dr. Rabinowitz under recommendation from an acquaintance. It was only a consultation for a crown I needed (I had already had an implant inserted in the place of a molar and needed someone to do the crown). Dr. Rabinowitz absolutely wanted to take X-Rays of my entire mouth - "It's my duty to take X-Rays" he said to me - (even though I brought my X-Rays from my previous dentist - three weeks-old X-Rays!) even though they were not necessary and are not recommended if not absolutely necessary. After I told him I didn't think I needed to have X-Rays taken he asked me what I wanted him to do then. I was left a bit puzzled but I repeated that I only needed a consultation for a crown and he could take an X-Ray of the implant if he thought it was necessary. He made me feel EXTREMELY uncomfortable (as if I didn't want to pay for the X-Rays) and I eventually agreed to have the entire set of X-Rays taken (and paid for them!!!). After that he proceeded to tell me that I had a lot of work to do, among the work was: removing a back tooth that apparently was pushing the others forward (??), a few cavities I was not aware of, a few new crowns and one implant (!!??). Total cost of the work? About $30,000. Now, this happened about a year ago and my teeth look very normal and in good health. I'm a person who takes care of her teeth and I was appalled at the diagnosis dr. Rabinowitz gave me and the completely unnecessary work he wanted to do on me. I thought it was highly unethical and I never went back. To this day, I had the crown done by another dentist and not heard of any cavities, teeth pushing other teeth or new implant that I supposedly needed a year ago. read more

The women who run the office at the front desk all embody what great customer service truly is. I came to this office through a recommendation from a friend, to get Invisalign. My teeth have never looked better, throughout the whole process the office maintained a can-do attitude & listened. Shifting teeth organically is a process that takes time & patience. No machinery can fully predict the outcome. With trial and minor over-alignment issues with my trays, Dr. Choi made sure my voice had been heard and stuck it out to ensure I had the smile I wanted. I had my first visit with Dr. Rabinowitz, DDS. Never in my entire life have I had such a *thorough* visit for any doctor. As a new patient with excellent dental health, this was an appointment for a routine cleaning. I had new insurance so hygenist figured she'd just do a full set of xrays. They do digital which apparently are 90% less radiation. Cool. And my chair faced the TV screen which displayed each tooth as she did it. Neat. There are digital frames everywhere cycling through ads and photos of beautiful people with perfect teeth. Or before/after teeth whitening. Next on the agenda was photos of each tooth with the mouth-pen camera. Inside and out. I watched that happen too. Next she measured my gum depth as an assistant notated the results in a digital program. Then she measured bone density which was recorded in another program. Then it was time to see the doctor. But not quite. I went to another room and another assistant showed up with a digital SLR and a huge wide angle lens to take photos of me & my mouth smiling, teeth open, closed, then from the side. Then I was handed plastic gum retractors. By this point I'm quite annoyed with the whole process. I mean, REALLY? Anyway, I'm asked to pull my gums back top, bottom left right, stand on my head (just kidding) while she takes more digital photos for the archives. THEN I met the doctor. Cool guy. Dr. Rabinowitz. Very personable, intelligent, positive. Excellent bedside manner. Very gentle too. Most of the visit was creating a baseline so he did a quick check and took some more notes about fillings, etc. Then I went back to the original hygenist for my cleaning, which was the original reason for my visit. I go every 6 months and had a great visit. She was *extremely* thorough and my only complaint was that she didn't give breaks to close my mouth for a jaw rest. This visit was extremely invasive and I really wasn't in the mood that morning. But that being said, I'm quite confident that if I ever need reconstructive surgery they have plenty of reference material. read more

As soon as you walk in the door they greet you with a smile and are attentive. I had dental work done by Dr. Choi and I recommend him highly. From the transferred X-ray alone my new dentist identified the underlying cause and urgency of treatment. We switched to Park 56 Dental by using a Groupon for free initial checkup and limited XRays. If ever there was a bait and switch thousands of dollars later - we've come to realize that charges are what drives this business. Dr Howard Spielman is extremely affable and. An effective. Dentist - however- I finally asked how charges are assessed for the same services - the Senior partners have a much higher rate for service even when they are not the ones doing the treatment. There are different charges for scalings even when done by the same hygienist. If you are signed in under Dr Spielman it's $400+ per quadrant - under another doctor in the practice it would have been $133 per. A difference of $1200 for the same exact service. Most recently a tooth which had previously had a cap and then a root canal was causing pain. I was told that the endodontist in the office would examine through the cap to see if the tooth could be saved. That exploration would have necessitated The exploration, removal of a cap, the new root canal and still no guarantee. That's when Idecided to seek a second opinion. A highly recommended oral surgeon did a 3 D x-ray which made it clear that beneath the cap there was spongy decay that would not be resolved Bo the root canal and new cap. While there can be. Differing opinions as to how to proceed - I suggested maybe an implant and cap would be the better way to go. No one I the practice ever brings up cost - so be prepared for megabuck charges. I had of fillings done by Dr. Ruof last year. I had sensitivity in the area for about a week and I called back for a checkup. I was told that its just fine and it will go away. I waited for a few days but one of the filling was still sensitive. I lost confidence in Dr. Ruof and requested that another doctor look into it. I met with Dr Rabinowitz. He was extremely courteous and offered a complete examination. He took several xrays and photographs (which he billed to my insurance). He concluded after spending over an hour with me that I had bigger issues and sensitivity was due to enamel thinning.I was told that if I wanted the teeth sensitivity to be fixed then I need several caps and it would cost me tens of thousands of dollars. I politely refused. He convinced me to get night guard which I paid for. I have been using it since. I left their office disheartened with a gloomy outlook for my teeth and lived with the sensitivity for over an year. I recently visited India and decided to show it to another dentist. She found issues with this filling and redid it. The sensitivity disappeared and I spent $25 for the filling. I am very disappointed that Park 56 made all kinds of stories to avoid the actual problem. I do have enamel thinning but that was used a a scapegoat to avoid fixing the actual issue at hand. A wonderful first time visit at this dentist office! Friendly abs courteous staff, from Front Desk to the techs all the way to Dr. Z - friendly, casual, informative and most important...an active listener, making sure all aspects of future treatment are understood. Best dental experience of my life! The actual office looks as if you are in a spa - candles, flowers, good magazines. Very relaxing and welcoming. I arrived 25 minutes early for my appointment, for the sake of getting out of the pouring rain, and they got me started 20 minutes early! AND it was the end of the day, when I would normally expect an office to be running late. Erica, the hygienist, was fantastic. Funny, personable, and very thorough. I almost dozed off in the chair she was so gentle. Only spoke with the dentist for approximately 2 minutes, but he seemed very nice as well. Carley did a great job whitening my teeth and she made sure I felt comfortable (turned on the TV during the procedure and told me some jokes). Dr. Abramsky is really fun (he will perform magic tricks for you if you ask) and thorough. He really takes his time to explain everything to you about what is going on with your teeth. I have lived in SF, LA and NY and been to dozens of dental offices in my life. I have had small fillings, crowns, veneers, basically the whole nine yards. Like most people, my dental experiences were ones I would rather forget. But not so at Park 56. The Park 56 office is spectacular and the staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating of a busy schedule. I saw Dr. Laura Ruof when I first started going to Park 56 two years ago after an older filling came out. She was the best. She was friendly, she took the time to explain what was happening with my tooth and didn't rush to judgment or drill, she fixed my tooth to perfection and said we will keep an eye out on the rest of my old fillings. Over the next two years I have had to see Dr. Ruof for a number of issues from toothaches to veneers and invisalign consults. I chipped my front tooth on a plastic fork on New Years and Dr. Ruof was able to see me on a holiday to fix my broken front teeth. She did an incredible job and my smile has never been better. Dr. Rabinowitz has been my dentist for as long as he's been in private practice. He first treated me in the emergency room of Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was finishing up his residency. I didn't have a regular dentist at the time and it seemed natural to follow him into private practice. I realize most people do not choose a dentist based on the treatment they receive after a traumatic bicycle accident, but Dr. Rabinowitz exhibited all the qualities you want in a dentist, including things they probably don't teach in dental school. His education and training speak for themselves. University of Pennsylvania undergraduate and dental school. Residency at Mt. Sinai. When he told me he was leaving Mt. Sinai to begin private practice a week after my emergency, I asked if I could follow him. He actually was concerned about the ethics of such a move and checked with his department chair before receiving their blessing. That was 31 years ago, and despite a move to the suburbs 4 years later, I continue to make the trip into the city to see Dr. Rabinowitz for all of my dental work. You need to take care of your teeth and gums and I know I am getting the best dental care and advice available. The treatment plans are clearly explained to me, including possible alternatives. Now about those things they probably don't teach in dental school, Dr. Rabinowitz has a way of calming a nervous patient, minimizing the pain of injections and all the other things dentistry entails, instilling confidence by being extremely meticulous and continuously checking in with your level of comfort, and genuinely caring about a patient's well-being. I've been a patient of Park 56 for about 13 years. I approached them to improve on a previous dentist's work in regard to a 6 piece bridge. The results were excellent-and I'm a very harsh critic. My interaction with the staff has always been great, and their work is as close to perfection as I've seen. I've referred friends to Park 56 and all have been duly satisfied. There are less expensive dentist to be certain, in fact I used one for my initial 6 piece bridge. I just had a tooth extraction, bone graft and 12 stitches with my dentist, Dr, Rabinowitz. While i dreaded the procedure, Dr. R. was fantastic in keeping me calm, checking in with me constantly as he proceeded and gave me extremely clear directions as to what I should do for the next couple of days.
