    Teriyaki Pork Bowl

This place rocks!! Food is really darn good. The fresh ingredients to the amount of work they put into prep makes a huge difference. Staff is super nice and fun... I'm here a few times a wk or more

Oh boy.. Not the greatest Teriyaki. I ordered the beef and pork teriyaki combo with rice and veggies. The flavor is off on everything. The gyoza was decent, but over all not a desirable place to eat, in my opinion.

    #13 chicken teriyaki and shrimp

Not good at all, went to a different location a few months ago and it was awful so I thought I would see if this one was better! NOPE!! Still disappointing, the chicken was garbage pieces with sinew and fat and just gross! The shrimp were ok and I ate those but the veggies were raw and tasteless and the rice was bland! I wanted so much to like it and I just don't! I don't think I will ever try them again!

    Yaki udon with pork

The food was fresh and hot and I liked the presentation: food was served on nice platters, which was a nice touch for a fast-casual place. We ordered the yaki udon, which had lots of pork in it, but the sauce was a little sweet for my taste. We also had teriyaki chicken, which was fine. Portion was big and cooked properly and came with the standard rice and salad. Definitely fits the bill for a fast, reasonable lunch.

Food is good. Small restaurant in a growing area. Food was pretty good. I enjoyed the chicken and tempura plate.

Not so happy. Very salty and undercooked noodle. The chicken is dry as hell. Nice waitress tho. But the food is absolutely awful.

Great staff, nice heat in the spicy chicken bowl. Crisp veggies and stove hot. Plenty of food for one. Great place.

Beef teriyaki was mediocre. Meat was tough and not that good. I would not suggest this to anyone looking for a tender meal.

What I didn't like: The Citrus Chicken was a bit of a miss for me, which is why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. It just didn't taste as fresh as I was expecting. Maybe I'm used to the crispy texture of orange chicken and had something different in mind. Either way, it won't stop me from coming back to try some of the other protein options, dressings, and toppings. If you haven't checked this place out yet, give it a try! There's plenty to choose from, and I'm looking forward to finding my perfect combination on my next visit.

I was actually pretty excited about trying out Zao. I downloaded the app ahead of time, studied…read moreall the options and eagerly waited for an opportunity to go. We arrived around 5pm on a Thursday night to find the place empty. I was happy it was empty since it was my first time ordering; I wanted time to ask questions and linger at the all my choices through the buffet window. The person who served up our bowls was extremely knowledgeable and eager to offer his opinion on the food options. I decided on getting a side of pot stickers and a bowl with 1/2 brown rice, 1/2 noodles with chicken, cilantro, carrots, corn, broccoli, crunchy toppings with teriyaki sauce. Everyone was very friendly and our bowls looked visibly stunning. I used the app for points and apply pay but never received points through the app or a receipt to get points (huge bummer). Potstickers: 1/5 stars - The filling was tender but was actually cold inside. The wrappers were soggy, flavorless and the edges tasted stale. The dipping sauce was thin and barely coated the potstickers. Bowl: 2.5/5 stars - Brown rice and noodles were cooked well and nicely flavored. Really enjoyed the overall combo of flavors with a nice amount of teriyaki sauce. Chicken was nicely diced and tender. Very off-putting that the food was barely lukewarm. I was hoping for some warm food that didn't make me think it was mixed with bacteria in an incorrectly heated warmer. Service: 5/5 stars just for the guy who made my bowl like it was art. Cashiers were friendly but not happy about the points missing and no receipt offered. I don't know if we'll go again, but may give it another try if I know the food will be properly heated.

And accommodate us they did. I have to give a big, big, BIG shout out to Patrick and Trevor. They were masterful as our servers. The orders were taken quickly and brought out in a very timely way. Located in the quiet shops off Entertainment, CK Hawaiian BBQ touts they have the best Hawaiian food in Boise. I think there is potential but they need an entire makeover, from the space to the recipes. For one, the restaurant was not clean. The tables were grimy and the floor was oddly sticky. It felt like the place hadn't been properly cleaned in a long time. I ordered the Kalua Park Plate (savory pork with (or without) cabbage) with a side of macaroni and gravy ($8.45 for small), my husband the Chicken Katso also with a side of macaroni and gravy (panko breaded chicken breast, $9.55). We decided to take our food home. The second I opened the boxes, I was unimpressed. I'll spare you my very descriptive and unappetizing statement (something about the remarkable resemblance to wet cat food), but to be blunt, I was appalled. It was soggy mess of a few pieces of pork with way to much cabbage. I took one small bite and couldn't stomach anymore. Even my husband exclaimed "what the actual f***." The rest of the food wasn't the worst. The chicken katsu was breaded good but I was like where tf is the katsu sauce?! It wasn't anything special at all. At least it was edible. The macaroni salad was okay. It didn't taste very fresh, probably an old batch. I'm no Hawaiian food expert and based off their menu I got the impression that they're not aimed at providing traditional Hawaiian fare, but more so "inspired" fare. However, regardless of the origin of the food the fact remained that what I received tonight was terrible. Two stars, because the employees were very nice. And were very accommodating when we changed from dine-in to take-out.
