Incredibly disappointing in several ways. For one, we were unknowingly charged $2 extra for asking to not have the cabbage included in the chicken bowl. Baffled, I asked the employee why that would be.. to get charged more for less. She responded that it's because broccoli is very expensive. So I asked why would that matter if we still received less food, to which she claimed extra broccoli was put in. I suppose that could have been true, seeing as the 'normal' amount of broccoli in the second bowl was literally two tiny crowns and the first dish maybe four? She also used the excuse that it is extra work for their chef to separate the pre-mixed vegetables. Erica had a responsibility to be upfront about silly extra charges but opted not to, and was passive-aggressive in the exchange when confronted. The pork fried rice was the worst we've ever had and the entirety of it ended up in the trash. The orange chicken was bland beyond measure. Teriyaki chicken sucked. Lack of vegetables sucked. Our entire experience sucked. It was all too easy to walk out in bad moods from this place. We're off to find somewhere worth our time and money, never to return to this establishment again. The food was fresh and hot and I liked the presentation: food was served on nice platters, which was a nice touch for a fast-casual place. We ordered the yaki udon, which had lots of pork in it, but the sauce was a little sweet for my taste. We also had teriyaki chicken, which was fine. Just had the worst experience with a woman working the front. I placed an order over the phone and came to pick it up. I didn't ask for the correct rice when I had ordered (I wasn't asked either) and when I asked if I could switch it out she replied, "No, they already made it". I've worked many restaurant/customer service jobs so I understand, but give the customer what they want without charging them an extra $5 for something they shouldn't have to pay for. read more

Two stars is generous for this one. Food is mostly good, but the service...oh the service.... Straight. Trash. The two waitresses working today had the worst customer service I've seen in a while. They will seat you and that's about it. We tried to order pork fried rice and she told us we couldn't because they only do fried rice with no meat, yet pork fried rice was on the menu. Both waitresses passed us by 15 times total and never noticed that our drinks were empty...or that we were ready for the check. Also if you have enough time to talk crap and give each other looks about your customers....you probably have enough time to refill a drink. Anyway food is probably good to go. The old owners of this location had better food and service. Staff rarely wear masks at all, and if they are wearing masks they're around their chin. The Katsu is far more breaded and greasy than the old recipe. The teriyaki has consistently made me queasy, the noodle dishes are greasy. It's convenient, but Yokozuna is far better. We really enjoy Happy Teriyaki! We come here often when we feel like having a light, quick, asian meal. Chicken Teriyaki, Hot & Spicy Chicken Teriyaki, and Grilled Shrimp Teriyaki are our typical order. We have always ordered "to go", and the Chicken dishes always give you enough of a meal to have a left-over lunch the next day. I love left-overs for lunch! The place is always very clean and neat, and the service is wonderful. The people here are super friendly, and super helpful. When I was here last, I changed my mind on my order after I had already paid, and I asked for them to change it (something that is kind of out of character for me), and they were more than happy to adjust my order to meet my request. My overall experience has improved since my initial review. The amount of meat I've been given has increased to the point where one meal would likely satiate two people or give you enough leftovers to make another meal out of it. So the value has increased. I tried the spicy chicken that was recommended to me and was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. My desire to see a Korean spin on things came through as there was a definite element of gochujang (a vital condiment of Korean cuisine) to the spicy sauce. I asked about it and it was confirmed. Is it the same sauce they use to make your meat "hot and spicy" for 50 cents extra? While I'd certainly say it's spicy, it's not hot at all (mild for people who like heat, moderate for heatphobes). But it has some of that sweet/sour fermented funkiness that gochujang brings. While I still bemoan the generic offerings and would never touch their gyoza again, I feel they've earned a bump-up from 3 to 4 stars. read more

This was a disappointing first order and first impressions being as important as they are, I won't be ordering from them again. I'm just glad my order was discounted from a Uber Eats coupon. I've had plenty of Japanese bento that are similar to this place but superior in quality. The cheapness of the establishment's owners is apparent starting with the cheap tasting barbecue sauce they use that tastes like nothing but sweet ketchup. They slathered it on the barbecue teriyaki I ordered in my combo meal, along with providing two cup-fulls of the terrible tasting condiment to use with the chicken katsu that it came with, when you're supposed to use a basalmic sauce that pairs perfectly with chicken katsu. I've never been to a Japanese bento style restaurant where they did not have this same basalmic sauce. Who uses bbq sauce for katsu? These guys. Because it costs less to buy cheap bbq sauce in bulk instead. Won't be using those. The chicken teriyaki itself, despite being doused in the bbq sauce that tastes like it came from McD's, was still dry as a bone as if it had been sitting out on a heating unit all day. Which it probably was. I know it wasn't freshly made for my order, at least. Same with the chicken katsu, which was soggy on the inside where the breading meets the meet and tasteless otherwise. Also seems like it had just been made in bulk in the morning and sat out on a heater all day. As for the rice and the "side of vegetables" what a freaking joke. All I got were TWO heads of broccoli placed atop a bed of soggy sliced cabbage. That's it? really? Are you kidding me? The blatant cheapness of this place is disgusting and the quality is truly lacking. And aside from my combo box, I ordered a side of katsu to eat tomorrow for lunch and it's missing a few pieces. So there they are skimping on that too, despite it costing $8.50 for a side of katsu, only to get like five pieces... To top it off, the whole order was cold. And it wasn't my delivery driver, who got here within like 6 minutes after picking it up. I watched them live online on the Uber Eats map. There's no reason why I should receive a meal that looks and tastes like it was reheated in a microwave really quick. Save yourself the trouble and eat somewhere nicer than here for the same price. If I hadn't used an Uber coupon, my meal would have been like $28 for all I described here, incl. tax. What a nice deal. read more

Love this new teriyaki place. Service was excellent and their menu has a lot of options. I tried their chicken teriyaki which included a big portion of teriyaki chicken, two scoops of rice and some steamed vegetables. My only disappointment was the steamed vegetables. There was one tiny piece of broccoli and a few pieces of shaved carrots. The rest was all cabbage, which I wasn't crazy about. My husband had the chicken/beef teriyaki combo. He liked both but preferred the chicken in the dish. He also upgraded to the fried rice and said it was just okay. We will be back. It's sad that there are so few teriyaki places in this area, but I'm happy we've found this place. read more

i liked the reviews for this place and the photos looked really good so i thought i would give it a try- i am so glad i did! the restaurant is very clean inside with a big TV and a giant menu. you sit down to order with the waitress, unless you're ordering to-go. the employees were all very friendly and fast- i liked that. i ordered the shrimp tempura/chicken teriyaki combo. for $9.95 it comes with 3 large shrimp, a great sized portion of fresh grilled chicken smothered in yummy sauce, 2 scoops of rice, and some sauteed cabbage/carrot/broccoli mix. everything was super fresh and so flavorful. I was really impressed with this place! took me 38 minutes to drive the 3 miles there, sit down and be waited on, eat, and drive back to work. if you're on a lunch hour, this is the place to go! i told them i would be back and i meant it. very happy with happy teriyaki! read more

I used to love this place but I'm sad to say I can't anymore. Although the interior and furnishings are greatly improved over what it used to look like and the staff were fabulous the food is unhappy. The veggies were steamed into submission lacking color, texture or flavor of any kind. I'm pretty sure my chicken breast was food service heat and eat chicken with the fake grill marks. The white rice was mush. My order was wrong and the Gyoza was over cooked and dry dry dry. Not sure what happened since they franchised and sold old but this location is a hard pass. Only thing I'd recommend is the boba tea. Very sad to write this but there's better elsewhere. read more

Not only was the chicken overcooked & dry, but there was basically no veggies in the rice bowl meal, the counter staff could've cared less, and the overall experience was not good. We ordered 2 rice bowls, I was overcharged, it took longer than you would have expected considering we were the only people there at the time, the food was not good and it was not what we were told it would be. I specifically asked the staff if the bowls had veggies in them, and I was to told "yes". When I got my order home, the only veggies were tiny shavings or orange (which I assume were carrots) and a couple of pieces of cabbage. Definitely not worth the money nor the time. I LOVE teriyaki. Ive been waiting forever for Idaho to get a good teriyaki spot. I grew up in Oregon where they had it all over the place, was sad when I moved here to,find none until happy teriyaki came along. Yum yum Yummm I live in Nampa and drive to this location specifically. The Nampa one I've gotten rude service and they don't offer the teriyaki in bottle in the restaurant. I like to,drown my dishes, yes I'm horrible. Haha The meridian location is awesome!! Always super nice, and good food. read more
