I lived in Boston previously and Thames's lobster roll is BETTER than any I had there. It's my default order, but explore their specials when they catch my eye. I can also recommend thier scallops and fish. Their crab cakes are great as well; however, I reccomend getting other items here and crab cakes elsewhere if you're making multiple food stops in Bmore as there are equally good crab cakes at other places (Pappas, Faidleys, Nick's, Coco's etc.) but not equally good other dishes. I'm not an oyster guy, but they also have the best raw bar in town, and they have an in house dedicated pastry chef who makes desserts which are to die for if you save room.

I'd been to Baltimore for Christmas with her but wanted to see what her summers were like growing up. Her father's best friend since 1st grade, her godfather, offered to treat us to Thames St Oyster House and we could not pass up the offer. We'd been before, she'd been several times. It was her dad and godfather's favorite place to celebrate big occasions. We loved it. As we sat down at our table her godfather exclaimed "Well I'm not the only one paying for this meal, I've been waiting to use this." It was a $100 gift card from my fiancé's late father, in his handwriting. We were floored. We all got choked up and cried a little. It felt like her father was giving us his blessing from beyond the grave. The oysters were phenomenal. The crab cake was amazing. The local beer was perfect on a hot day. Then it came time to pay. We were horrified when the waitress came back with the gift card and told us it was expired. Expired? There is no expiration date printed on it which means it is legally valid indefinitely. She explained that they changed POS systems since the card had been purchased (again, by my fiancé's late father before he was taken by cancer) and that the new system did not recognize it. "Sorry, there's nothing we can do." No offer to grab a manager to see if a portion of the meal could be comped. Just $100 spent by a dearly departed that Thames St Oyster House does not have to answer for. A very tender moment ruined by poor customer service. They've lost 3 repeat customers.

Unfortunately we couldn't sit outside but got to be next to a window overlooking the water. The young waiters and waitresses were attentive. I was glad I got to substitute my chips for a side salad though. Overall, good dining experience but I would try some other menu items next time.

We got the deck fries - they're great fries that come with 2 great dipping sauces. They're also the type of dry you wanna drench in malt vinegar and dip in ketchup. However, I really dont know that you can enough to justify a $10 price tag. Crab egg rolls - they were the table favorite. Crab Pretzel - nice and soft. good for sharing. the flavor was simple and to the point. not heavily seasoned. shrimp mac and cheese - cavatappi noodles yayyyy. I think they're the best for mac and cheese. cheese is super creamy with just a light bake on top. I think its PERFECT.

He provided great recommendations and stayed on top of drink orders. We sat on the rooftop deck and enjoyed views of Locust Point and the Inner Harbor. It can be fairly sunny up there with some tables only partially shaded so be sure to bring sunscreen. We ordered two dozen large crabs (the two other bigger sizes were already sold out), half a dozen raw oysters, steamed corn, and plenty of apps. Crabs were $125/dozen in June 2026. Everything was delicious! Crabs were an excellent size with the type of clumpy seasoning that I prefer. They don't serve cocktails here but they do have wine, beer, and seltzers. We all enjoyed the orange crush cocktail in a can over crushed ice which was not bad for not being a fresh crush. They only seat you once your full party is there FYI. There's lots of seating on all levels of the building so there was luckily no wait for us once our party arrived. The staff was even nice enough to store my friend's birthday cake and allow us to cut it at the upstairs bar. Such a good neighborhood vibe here and excellent food! I'll be back.

Even then we had to wait about 20 minutes on a Sunday evening, but the food was definitely worth the wait! They're known for their steamed crabs which we didn't end up getting, but if its anything like their other steamed seafood then I'd bet its delicious. The shrimp, scallop, and lobster tail were cooked to perfection and were very fresh! The scallop was a bit under seasoned but we forgot all about it when we tried their cocktail sauce! My gf liked their cocktail sauce so much that it became her standard of comparison at subsequent restaurants and she thought none were comparable! The soft shell crab sandwich was also very yummy! The soft shell crab itself was quite meaty and nicely seasoned. The crab dip was yummy but felt a bit heavy. We also didn't taste much crab flavor in it but overall it was still enjoyable. The soup was mediocre and something we wouldn't have missed if we skipped it.

The quality of the seafood for the price point was great! The restaurant is pretty small but they have a nice flow to service and seemed to manage it well. We didn't have a long wait when we arrived and the food came out quick but the small waiting area was packed by the time we were leaving so I would suggest trying it earlier rather than later. Now let's get into the food. We started with the Banging Salmon Bites and they were very delicious. Seasoned to perfection. I'm not the biggest fan of bang bang sauce and I was expecting the bites to come tossed in sauce but it was drizzled on top which I actually appreciated so I could control the amount of sauce on my bite. Next time I will ask for it on the side but I did really like it. The salmon was juicy and flavorful. For my entree I did the build your own combo with a pound of snow crab legs and 1/2 pound of headless shrimp. The combo comes with 1 corn and two potatoes and I added additional corn which was two more pieces. I had the yard mix sauce which is a combination of all of the sauces together and it was delicious. Not overly salty but actually flavorful. I did medium spice level I think next time I'll try the hot. The medium was not spicy enough for me. The seafood comes out on a hot sizzling plate which is a nice touch and actually helps keep the seafood warm longer. The drinks were also a really good price and pretty strong. Overall I really enjoyed the food will def be back to try some more menu options and maybe happy hour. Only deducted one star because our server was lacking a bit but not terrible. He just seemed to need some more training but he may have just been new.

The crab cakes were accompanied by a handful of greens, and heaping portions of the sides. The soup came with a handful of wrapped crackers - more than we knew what to do with! I preferred the lump crab cake, the sides were all good with the crisp cucumber salad and Cole slaw being pleasantly refreshing. The potato salad was the creamy sort. The shreds of crab was visibly evident in the veggie filled minestrone type soup, but not as evident in taste. It is always tough to get your fix of veggies on vacation, so I'd probably get the lump crab cake with cucumber salad and Cole slaw on another visit, or try one of their seasonal items.

I pretty much always get their Rockfish tacos because they're so good! Well-fried rockfish pieces topped with a yummy remoulade sauce and finely chopped cabbage. I think my only complaint would be that it's clearly enough for two standard tacos, but they shove it all into one large one, which usually makes for pretty messy eating. I usually opt for the mixed seasonal vegetables, which is a pretty large side and a good variety of veggies. Not bad for $14! Every time I go, there is someone getting their cream of crab soup, and a few times the truck has sold out; must be good, so I'll have to try that next time. Other popular items include their crab fries. They also usually have some jarred dessert, like crème brûlée or key lime pie. I finally broke down and tried their crème brûlée and it was pretty solid! For $5, it's worth it. The folks there are friendly and work fast to get you your food. Prices are definitely reasonable. Check these guys out sometime.
