Such an amazing experience! My close friend and I went for an impromptu Friday afternoon meal and drinks. They have a wonderful variety of oysters (local, from CT, MA and Newfoundland). It was a cozy location and although they were busy they quickly got us seated! The staff was prompt at filling our drinks and getting us more tasty eats. We ended up getting two trays of oysters (went well with our gin martinis), and the crab soup with short rib. So enjoyable and really warmed our bellies. I will definitely return to try their crab cake (the gentleman next us ordered it) enticing me to come back.

Nestled down a cobblestone street is this fantastic restaurant. As you enter, you're greeted with a big smile from a friendly hostess. We took our seats at the bar and let the fresh seafood experience begin. Hampton oysters, clams, ceviche, lobster tail and escargot. Drink wise we enjoyed a Bloody Mary, old fashioned and beers. We sat towards the front of the bar do we got to see the oyster shucking master in action. A small young man precisely shucking away oysters and clams with surgical precision. Didn't catch his name. Did catch our bartender's name, Will, I believe. Served us great drinks and insightful conversation. Really great vibes here, definitely worth another visit.

Thames Street Oyster House has quite the reputation, and while the food lives up to it, the service felt noticeably haughty. They were fully booked on a Friday, so we joined the estimated one hour waitlist. We were seated earlier than expected, and there was even open space by the time we left. Upon being seated, we were given an oyster list, a pencil, and the regular menu. Our main server checked in once to take our initial order, but we were largely ignored afterward. At one point, we were even given the bill while we were still planning to order a second round of oysters. There was, however, another staff member who consistently refilled our water. The oyster selection was impressive, with 12 varieties, along with two clams and a few European options. Each order came with a slice of lemon and a choice of five sauces, including cocktail sauce, horseradish, mignonette, and a dill pickle hot sauce. All were well made, though the dill pickle sauce leaned more sour than spicy. The oysters themselves were all properly shucked and clean. *Red Bird: warm in flavor with a noticeable kick. The habanero added a sharp heat that contrasted nicely with the chilled oyster, though the pineapple and lime were more subdued. *Tangier Island (VA): a top choice. One of the more affordable options with great body, creaminess, and a pleasant sweetness. *Chesapeake Wild (MD): the standout. Also one of the cheapest and locally sourced, with a sweet, almost melon like bite and a salty finish. Smaller in size but packed with flavor. *Rappahannock (VA): delivered an immediate salty punch with a clean, briny profile. *Choptank Sweets (MD): not the most flavorful, but had the best texture. Ideal for those who enjoy a more substantial chew. *Beaver Tails (RI): saltier than the Rappahannock with just a hint of sweetness. There was a stronger seawater note, which made it a bit divisive. *Poseidon (MA): very balanced in sweetness, saltiness, and creaminess. I preferred these over Beaver Tails, though neither stood out significantly despite being among the most expensive. *Hood Canal (WA): noticeably different from the East Coast varieties. It had a distinct melon like flavor that I enjoyed, though others at the table found it off putting. One of the pricier options and best ordered for contrast. *Bouillabaisse: a Friday special that sold out by 6:30 PM, so it is worth ordering early. The dish featured a single wide pappardelle noodle with a great bounce, soaking up a saffron tomato broth. The broth had a bright, wine forward flavor, with the saffron playing a more subtle role. The shrimp, mussels, octopus, and fish were all perfectly tender. Two slices of toasted, oiled bread helped soak up the broth, though I wished there had been more. *New England Fish and Chips: flaky white fish with a simple batter. The coating was thicker and blander than I prefer, relying heavily on the tartar sauce and house made ketchup. Given the portion size, more sauce would have helped, but service made that difficult. The coleslaw was standard. *Eastern Shore Crab Cake: impressively thick and packed with crab. The blue crab was naturally sweet with very little filler. It leaned unapologetically briny and savory. The cocktail sauce was creamy with a nice kick. The grilled asparagus was tender with good char and a light touch of lemon. The parsley potatoes were slightly small in portion but well cooked, with a soft, slightly sweet interior that paired nicely with the sauce. The seafood quality is clearly high, and the ingredients do much of the work. While I enjoyed the flavors overall, I would have liked them to be pushed just a bit further. The sauces were excellent but not provided in quantities that matched the portions. This could have easily been addressed with better service, which unfortunately was lacking. The food is undeniably good, but do not expect much attention beyond the initial interaction.

This place had some of the best food I've had since living in Baltimore! Everything was so delicious and all the flavors in each dish paired really well together. We finish every single dish completely. The service was great and our food came out pretty quickly. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were very friendly and helpful with providing recommendations. The ambiance is nice though it can feel a little snug on a busy day. Overall one of the best restaurants in Baltimore!

As soon as they opened at 4;30 the place filled up and rightfully so. Food and, ambiance and service are very good. My fave was the clam sandwich with fat belly clams and on a dreamy soft roll.

Gulf Of Maine Hake, absolutely phenomenal

Thames Street Oyster House offers a stellar dining experience. The restaurant itself is a really nice place, classy without feeling pretentious. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and was accommodating with checking ingredients for allergens. I ordered the Gulf of Maine Hake and was extremely impressed. This dish offers a complex combination of flavors and textures between the hake, sausage, beans, potatoes, tomatoes, and egg. It wasn't too heavy or too acidic. It was perfection. Wow. Just wow. I really cannot wait until I can go back and try another unique and innovative dish.

Truly one of the best restaurants in Fells Point. We don't come here very often, but when we do, it never fails to impress. I was especially excited to visit during one of the rare date nights I get now that I have a baby. We made reservations, which are highly recommended since this is one of the busiest restaurants in Fells Point. We were seated immediately and greeted promptly by our server. We started with espresso martinis, which are some of the best I've had--they're made without Baileys and are absolutely delicious. I also love their Muscadet selection. We began with oysters, which were incredibly fresh with a great selection, followed by the escargot, which was also very tasty. We shared the octopus ceviche as well, and it was outstanding. For dinner, I ordered the Friday bouillabaisse special. It was huge and packed with fresh seafood--easily one of the best bouillabaisses I've ever had. We also ordered the lobster roll, which is hands down one of the best items on the menu. Wonderful service, quick food, and consistently delicious dishes. One of the best restaurants in the neighborhood, and I'm so glad to see it hasn't changed since my last visit. If anything, I think it improved!

Whoa this spot took me straight back to London! If you're craving fresh seafood, come to Thames. There's limited parking nearby, but we somehow managed to snag a spot. We ordered a mighty feast this evening. Starting with the apps, oysters were a no-brainer. They had an impressive selection of oysters from all around the area. We ordered 16 of their Chesapeake oysters and 4 of the roasted oysters. Both were finger-lickin good! The calamari was awesome and sooooo addicting. Lobster caesar can be skipped. It's served as a whole, uncut romaine heart which I was not a fan of. Order the seafood salad instead! Entreés were yummy. I do wish the fish and chips had a beer batter, but it was delicious nonetheless. Definitely on the pricey side, but everything is so fresh and they are a 99% scratch kitchen which is super impressive.

Was casually looking for some crab soup, this spot had it HOWEVER they had better things and I'm glad I got those. AMBIANCE: Parking: I'm lodging near the area so it seems centralized to be walking distance. Aside from that, it's all street parking. Seating: Indoor seating for small groups or bar seating. There's room upstairs with a nice view. Room for about 50 people. Vibes: Downtown Baltimore has a nice charm. Historic Fells Point neighborhood is a mix of past and present. I enjoyed the East coast row houses and the water-view vibes. Inside is a nice and warm cozy bar. There's a tv on the sports channel if you're into that stuff. Aside from that you can enjoy the classic photos of Baltimore. FOOD/DRINKS: Thames Street Seafood Salad (Recommend) Seeing the photos on Yelp really caught my eye. A pyramid from a medley of seafood such as blue crab, gulf shrimp, calamari, and scallops mixed with bright citrus vinaigrette and fresh lettuce. I enjoyed the fresh, sweet, briny flavors and the soft textures. Oyster Bar (Recommend) You really can't miss with the orders. I got a little bit of everything from the oysters, clambs, to the lobster! All good either by itself or with their house sauces (cocktail, horseradish, and hot sauce). CUSTOMER SERVICE: Jay was the bartender. He was great! I admired his hustle, his professionalism, and knowledge - he knew his stuff on seafood. TL; DR OVERALL: 5 Stars. Fantastic! I'm glad to have stumbled by this place. Confirmed from a local, this was a good spot. She ordered a Caesar Salad and I never seen a Caesar Salad with an appetizing presentation. Good prices, delicious food, and a pleasant experience. If you're looking for excellent seafood in a charming, historic neighborhood with good service and ambiance, this is one worth the trip. It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for in quality and setting. I'd absolutely come back to try more of the raw-bar selection and maybe a table on the upstairs water view. TIPS: * This is no hidden gem. Make reservations if you need to or take the bar seating if offered. * Oyster bar changes daily.

I have come to Thames Street Oyster House several times now, each time with a reservation. It's really hard to get a table without one so I would highly recommend booking in advance (pretty early) since they're very popular. All their food items are great. Their scallops, crab cake, lobster roll, and all others I have tried have all been amazing! Not to mention their super fresh and affordable oysters. I always ended up with a table upstairs which has a great view of the water and is never too loud but I think the downstairs area may get louder. The staff do get pretty busy so they may not come around for a bit but they are very friendly and accommodating nonetheless. Highly recommend to any seafood fans in Baltimore!

Parking was a bit tricky, but once we made it inside, the cozy atmosphere and historic Fells Point charm made it worth it. The interior feels warm and inviting, with that unmistakable old-Baltimore character. Our waiter was pleasant and service was solid throughout the night. Everything from the raw bar was outstanding--exceptionally fresh and full of flavor. The monkfish dish was also excellent and beautifully prepared. But the unexpected highlight of the evening was when three tables all ended up bonding over football, huddling around one guest's phone to watch the end of the Ravens game. It was such a fun, communal moment that added a lot to the experience. A great spot with delicious food and a memorable vibe.

OMG! The food here is SOOOOOOOO fresh! It's a bit of a tight space, but it's worth it. Sit in the back area outside if able. It's so calm back there. I came with a friend to catch up and even though we were late, they accommodated us and I'm so glad I was able to experience this food! AND our server was amazing. It's evident she loves her job. I started with the most delicious octopus dish. I also had a special that was their take on burrata. It contained mushrooms and was divine! They'll let you know that everything is fresh and I could taste the freshness. My friend had the clam chowder and she love that as well. It came in a cute little cast iron pot. For our main dish we both had the giant crab cake. That's actually why we came. I had seen a picture on Yelp and had to have it. It was topped with a sauce that brought it home. It was one of the best crab cakes I've had. Little filling, mostly crab. AND, the zucchini one the side....... OMG. I wish I could have had more of that. It was grilled, which gave it flavor. It was still a bit crisp. Delicious! The dish came with a side of potato salad, which, aside from a dash of salt, was good as well. It was one of those memorable meals that will have you coming back for more! Parking is a bit tricky so, come early.

The place to go in Baltimore for oyster happy hour! Large selection of oysters, clams, and other seafood. Really enjoyed the oysters and their old bay cocktail sauce. Especially loved "tall timbers" and "Chesapeake wild." Quick, friendly service. Cozy bar vibe interiors. Lots of indoor seating.

Amazing fried oysters for appetizers that stood out!
