What does one want to eat the day after Thanksgiving - seafood for sure. We called and ordered Fish and Chips from Don's. For $6.99, it is a great deal. The meal included several pieces of lightly battered cod that was fried to perfection along with a generous portion of French fries. They included +tartar sauce and ketchup in our carry-out order. Me and my cousin decided to try this place it was closer than Conrad's and Conrad's has been short on the accuracy of the sizes of their crabs. So we looked up this spot there were mixed reviews mostly good so we decided to give it a shot. Best fresh female crabs I've had in a long time. I called myself trying Don's because they were having a special. It was two dozen cold crabs for $50.00. Before I walked into the store I didn't care too much for the outside smell. Stepped inside and it did smell better. The female cashier was friendly and attentive. It didn't take long for me to get my order. I also chose to get some garlic butter. I was excited to get home to enjoy my crabs. Boy was I disappointed. The crabs were a nice size however, they were watery. I forced down one dozen but, didn't even partake in eating the rest. It was truly a waste. I don't think I will return to this spot. I love crabs and as a first impression this simply didn't do it for me. I will stick to what I know is good from now on. I usually get crabs from Conrad's or crab shack 2 , but I wanted to try something different and went with Don's because the google reviews weee good. Well.. yep, I definitely made the right choice! I used to come here all the time and stopped past since they were one of the only places in the area which had crabs. We chose the medium females which were 42 a dozen. They were buy 1 dozen get a half free. So for 84, we got 3 dozen. I liked the taste of the crabs. The seasoning was pretty food ( a little light on some of the crabs) but they tasted good. Some of the crabs were over cooked. So while I thought the taste was 4 star, just the inconsistency in the cooking knocked it down a star for me. If it was just one or 2 that would be different. Have to start with the obligatory, "if I could give less than one star, I would" line. I previously had a poor experience & vowed not to return. Last summer I ordered small soft crab sandwich & was given what amounted to a two bite appetizer portion. This evening I returned just before closing, only because it was on my way home; the 'open' sign was still on. They allowed me to stand in line behind two other customers before informing me they would not take my order because they were closed. The staff are unfriendly & unaccommodating on top of serving below average eats (salad was BLAND last summer as well). We get the crabs, head home, which is only 10 mins away. I would not have considered this to be jumbo crabs first and foremost. Only 3 crabs were edible. The other 6 had an unpleasant odor and were not appeasing to the eye once they were opened. A hint of ammonia smell and fishy. I can't believe they would sell crabs like this. I believe the crabs were dead and they still cooked them and sold them. That's so wrong and dangerous! We will not purchase from this establishment again. dear don's crabs: my family and i enjoy eating don's crabs on a weekly basis. however, since the covid pandemic, i have been ordering at least once a week curbside pickup. i also like the fact that your parking lot is easily accessible and never crowded like conrad's crabs. my recent visit to the don's crab house in the carney location on thursday, august 6, 2020 was again disappointing. i would like to share my concerns and dining experience and i feel obligated to inform you about your customer service and give feedback to help you better serve customers. * again, i was displeased with the false advertising and what i was sold. you advertised medium female crabs for $40.00 and you will receive 1/2 dozen free. i contacted the employee once i went to my car to exam my order and came back into the store. i spoke with your employee and they said that's the size medium female crabs are, so what do small females look like? i thought medium crabs were 5 ¼ ". they should have never been harvested. when i was leaving after my disappointment, there was another customer parked next to me and she said she purchased 3 dozen of small females for $30. she allowed me to look at her bag of crabs and we had the same size crabs, small females, however i paid $40 per dozen for so called medium females. * i purchased 6 ears of corn for $5.00, and 3 of which were rotten. Best most flavorful crabs I have ever had. The flavor is all the way 2 the shell. I bought 6 dozen mixed it contained both male and female which is not common at 2 many spots. For at least 5 years, we've always gone to the crab place a few blocks down from Don's Crabs, but this summer, it was a big disappointment in them. So, a few weeks back, we tried Don's Crabs and was really glad we did. Yesterday, we again stopped by Don's, got the cold crabs which were really large and right now have a big pot of crab soup cooking. As much as we liked the other place, Don's was, by far, the best crabs we've had all summer and we'll continue to visit them. Their spices are milder than the other place but the crabs were much bigger and better on both of our visits within the past month. I think we'll be more frequent visitors to Don's from now on. Maybe all the 'Baltimore's Best' awards took away from the quality of the other place and that's a disappointment because we really liked their seasoning...this year, though, the very small cold crabs, which were mostly females many times, were not really worth the $1.50 they now charge for cold crabs. So Don's, I'm sure we'll be seeing you a few more times this year and will be customers again next season. read more

We picked up crabs from Don's on Labor Day. Since it's just 2 of us who eat them, I went with the smalls they had on special. I had seen some reviews but took a chance since they're a local company. I was pleasantly surprised. In the 1 1/2 dozen we had, there were a few light ones but for the most part they were pretty solid. They were seasoned well, beautiful color of the meat and tasted really good. The only reason I dropped a star is they assume everyone wants the crabs and shrimp already steamed. I thought I made it clear to the woman working the counter that I wanted them uncooked since I was cooking with them, but apparently not. Since I was doing a boil uncooked were definitely preferred. I was able to adjust the cooking of the other components to make it work, but it was still a little disappointing to have to make the adjustment. I guess I know now to very loudly and repeatedly point out I want my shrimp raw and my crabs live. I'd still order from them again. read more
