Within the last year I had one issue with the boneless ribs containing 90% fat and were very over cooked. The second problem was the Gen tsao chicken was extremely overcooked/deep fried. I complained and they offered to replace both meals which was good, but I declined the offer as I'm not big on new meals coming out after calling with a complaint on the cooking. This might have been one bad cook working here?, the meals have been good (not great like 2010)since then so I am still going with 4 stars. Next few meals here are under review. read more

Their food is not as greasy as other local places and it's not under cooked. The staff is so friendly. I am reading other reviews and laughing to myself. One guy complaining that it is not wheelchair accessible and it's take out. That applies to us not in wheelchairs as well. We can't eat indoors but I am sure you can wheel through the door during non covid19 times. For now you can wheel up. Also the guy saying he wished it would be better because it's so close to the lake. What does that mean? Also complaining that a restaurant is hot inside. We used to like this place but no more. I think it was probably sold to someone else since I do not like my favorite foods any longer. Too little of the good stuff and too much of the cheap stuff like rice and undercooked vegetables. I guess some people get Chinese food because it is supposed to be better for you. So this places food is basically the best out of the uglies. Hopatcong is not a place you would go for good chinese food. This place have children that don't know what they are doing with their lives. My order was sitting on the side for a couple of minutes after it was done. They didn't bring it to the front to check if it belonged to anyone. Didn't call the number. When I asked the boy that worked there he seemed really lost and confused didn't know what was going on. The girl was too busy on the phone and she took my money and didnt even check to see if my order was ready. This is a terrible place and will NEVER recommend to anyone. It's hard to settle on a good Chinese food restaurant. There are so many options that you have to try all of them in order to get a good feel for which restaurants are worth your time and which restaurants you should avoid. Happy Wok has good food and good prices - nothing crazy, pretty much the same thing you will find at most local Chinese food restaurants. But today, I was bringing homemade stir fry to work and I had to have the special spicy house mustard that is kept in the refrigerators of most Chinese food restaurants. Now, I know what you're saying to yourself. "Why don' t you just go to the store and buy a jar of the mustard from the ethnic foods aisle?" But there is something inherently tastier about the little plastic cup that comes from the Chinese food restaurant refrigerator. So on my way to work I stopped at Happy Wok and asked the girl at the register if the mustard was available. Here's the thing: I didn't order anything and I even offered to pay for the cup of mustard but the girl just gave it to me! For free! Sometimes it's the small things that separates one restaurant from the others. I now know that Happy Wok is a super cool place that takes it's name seriously. They want the customer to be Super Happy, even if that customer hasn't ordered any food and is simply asking for some free condiments. Next time, Happy Wok, I promise I'll make an order that I will pay for because I know your dumplings are slamming, your boneless spare ribs are jamming and your dragon & phoenix is so darn tasty. For the record, I was totally ready to pay up to and including $2 for that cup of mustard. It was that vital to my dinner. read more

So this is average Chinese take out, nothing more. They attempt Thai and sushi, I ordered pad Thai, it was horrible and garnished with a lemon. I've had several Chinese distress all of which are disappointing I.e. general tsao, sesame chicken. .. They're only saving grace is the boneless spare ribs. They are grilled, sweet, salty, tender, just delicious. I would recommend this, egg rolls, and won ton soup is decent. It's take out only, very nice people, and I like the self serve sauce set up. read more

I'm guessing that there's better Chinese food in this neck of the woods. We ordered mu shu vegetable, szechuan chicken, won ton soup, and egg drop soup. While the mu shu passed muster, the rest fell laughably short. The szechuan chicken was just sweet and source in disguise. The won ton soup featured bland broth with dumpy dumplings and nothing else. Worst Chinese food ever. By reading the other reviews, I'm wondering if they're relatives or I have the wrong restaurant (which I don't). I ordered the "House Special" scallops and beef....without exaggeration this dish had one scallop cut in 4 but the beef was tasty. The fried rice was almost white, totally under seasoned and the wonton soup had 2 wontons and a cloudy watered down barely capable of being called a broth. Not my first visit with issues either, but now I'm done. I will travel to Howard Blvd in Mt Arlington or there is a great new Japanese Sushi place that just opened across the street from Ledgewood Lanes. Some items are a hit, while others are a miss like their fried rice which is kind of odd compared to most places, its missing the whole soy sauce thing and looks more like burnt white rice with some veggies tossed in. Tried this chinese joint for the first time recently. I was always going to King Wah or Lucky House prior. Gotta say this place has great chinese food in my opinion. Sesame chicken is one of my favorites, and sometimes other places seem to just make it w/ too much sauce. This may have been the worst Chinese food I ever had. By reading some of the other good reviews, I wonder if they're relatives or friends because it is not even close to good. Scallops and beef had 1 one scallop cut in 4...are you kidding me? Wonton soup had 2 two wontons in a cloudy watered down broth...with nothing else. The fried rice was still white from lack of season. Food is not only poor quality, but poor quantity. This is not the first time I had an issue here. I will make the drive to Howard Blvd in Mt Arlington for good Chinese or across from Circle Lanes in Ledgewood is a fantastic new Japanese/Sushi place. I will never return here! read more

HORRIBLE. First off, I ordered my food by phone, the person I spoke to was hard to understand which is normal for Chinese places but when I went to pick up my food.. A. They ignored me for like 3 minutes before they came over and asked why I was there then B. they didn't give me the dumplings or rice I ordered. When I went back in the two guys working were in the back, looked at me and still didn't help me. I'm not one who wants perfect service all the time but this is just rude.
