Very very good Thai food at this local spot in Hopatcong. Twist on Thai has been around for many years. I've driven past countless times, decided on this weekday to stop in for some lunch. The food and service did NOT disappoint. It's a small room, about 8 tables. We were the only diners, though several "to go" orders went out while we ate. Chicken Pad Thai is on point! A generous portion of noodles teeming with chicken. Lusciously sweet with just a touch of heat. A traditional prep, executed perfectly. Also tried Massaman curry. Delicious chunks of chicken served in a silky massaman curry - creamy and sweet - along with potatoes, green pepper, onions and carrot. And a side of sticky rice. There was not a morsel left! The 2 Stars is well deserved. POSITIVES: The location itself is nice. It's on a corner with a massive parking area in the back. The staff seemed super polite, respectful & friendly. The massa mon curry alone gets 4 stars. NEGATIVE: The one HUGE negative this place gets is PORTION, PORTION, PORTION. We have eaten in several other thai places & it has never been this small. They charge regular price for happy meal sizes. The soup containers are for toddlers. The skewers looked like cancer ridden chicken they were so skinny. The Thai Tea was Thai tea flavored sugar. My partner and two of our friends opted to try out Twist On Thai Cafe one weekend. I was especially excited since they have gluten-free and vegetarian options. They are open for takeout orders and do not offer delivery. Our friends ordered seafood dishes that they enjoyed, while my partner and I went for pad khi mao. As we both love drunken noodles immensely, we were both disappointed with our dishes. I ordered a gluten-free version with tofu and my noodles were clumped together, which I figured was due to being gf. My partner's noodles were also a bunch of clumps, which made for messy eating for both of us. The noodles weren't well-coated in the sauce and not spicy whatsoever. Drunken noodles are meant to be spiced, but the dishes were very bland. I also found that my meal reeked of a fishy odor, which was extremely off-putting. While some of their dishes may be tasty, I would recommend avoiding the noodles. read more

Yes, the dish was only $12.50. I would have gladly paid $2 more to get the goodies. My husband had the beef cashew. His looked a lot better than mine & the beef was tender. Sticky rice was good. Tables around us were ordering dessert - we did not - I was ready to leave. Too bad as I think they have a great innovative menu but perhaps the area where this is located does not warrant a big enough business to charge a little more. We called to tell them they gave us the wrong order, but they assured us it was correct and that they just use pad thai noodles for pad see ew. Here's a photo. Beef was okay. Beef satay: much smaller portion. My boyfriend thought it tasted okay. I thought it was good. They did not include his rice which was really disappointing. We split my small side of rice. We would have called, but we were already settled and by the time we got the rice our food would have been cold. Overall I thought the food was pretty good, especially for the area. The portions overall paled in comparison to the Thai places I've been (with the exception of the curry), especially the rice!! Rice is so cheap, please make the sizes larger. And make sure when you so takeout, all of your food is included. The service was quick and friendly. They did a nice job remodeling and overall I'm quite pleased to see some different food in the area. I will probably eat here again. I love ordering food from Twist on Thai! The food is always delicious and the staff is always friendly and accommodating. My favorite dishes are the por pia pak and the Royal Pad Thai (I love it with chicken, shrimp, or tofu). Their coconut dream ice cream is amazing! It's great that I can order through Door Dash from them now when I'm working from home with back to back meetings and can't run out to pick it up. Over the years, I have brought several people here as an introduction to Thai food and every person loved it! They have adjusted to COVID very well you just pull up and grab your food from a table outside and go. I love their green curry it is so good. Saw this restaurant as I was placing a review on yelp. And since it's somewhat in our area we decided to try it. And we were not disappointed. We tried the thai sampler all very yummy sauces excellent. Had the Tom Yum soup & green papaya salad -excellent. For entrees we had the royal pad thai & the green curry. The flavors were spot on. I don't know if my pad thai had the bean sprouts and I usually like a slice of lime with it, but is was still excellent without it, plus I could have asked and didn't. The green curry was good too. All the food came out piping hot fresh which I love. For dessert we had a coconut fried coconut ice cream with a caramel sauce and the chocolate mousse cake. The fried ice cream was amazing. The service was excellent, very attentive and helpful. She knew most of the customers by name. She talked about her mother cooking in the back and that made my heart melt, love the whole family vibe! Parking was good, yes the place was a bit on the divey side, but we care about he food & service not the way the place looks. So that doesn't get factored in to the rating. Very authentic and delicious Thai food prepared by a kind family. Absolutely loved the green curry and my husband really liked the Thai iced tea (per another reviewer's suggestion).
