First time trying this restaurant and what caught my attention was the steamed buns. I also judge a Chinese take out by their pork dumplings. So I ordered both steamed pork dumplings and steamed buns (aka Baozi). O-M-G! I was so happy to actually see Baozi (steamed buns) because other places i've tried had given me something other than Baozi. The dumplings were soo good too!! Light and not heavy like other places. I was very pleased with my first order here. Too bad they don't deliver locally at least. But im happy i know where to get my Baozi. Will definitely be ordering there again. read more

I had a craving for Chinese food tonight. I ordered chicken ho fun, spicy tuna roll, chicken lo mein, and shrimp fried rice. First, the tuna roll was fresh and was excellent. Both the lo mein and ho fun were lackluster and not worth the price. Both dishes had tiny shards of chicken and were mostly bamboo shoots and noodles. The fried rice was ok. Good service and during take out they text you when your order is complete. That's a nice touch. The spare ribs are plump and juicy and have great flavor, the chicken pad Thai had a bit of heat that I am not used to but still tasty. Beef with broccoli tasted as all the others I've eaten elsewhere. They have periodic coupons on hero site and they were somewhat helpful when ordering on the phone. Id return for a simple quick meal. We decided to try the Chinese side of the menu for our first visit, and I am happy to say that Damo has easily the best Chinese take-out in the area. Flavorful sauces, big chunks of crispy chicken, and a really nice noodle dish were all impressive. Hot and Sour Soup is always a top choice for me, and theirs was excellent as well. Good Chinese take-out is hit-and-miss in this area, so Damo will certainly be our #1 choice moving forward. Give it a try. read more

I ordered the maki sushi special. 2 of the three rolls were eel tempura and shrimp tempura.. disappointed is the understatement of the year. 80% of the roll is just lettuce... barely any tempura sauce on it.. by far the worst tempura ive had anywhere. We've ordered from here twice, the second time only because we forgot how terrible the food was the first time around. Pad Thai that tastes like old gym socks. Both times. How? I mean, it's pad Thai. I could make it right now with the limited ingredients I have in my fridge and it would still taste a gazillion times better than that atrocity we just barely choked down. The rest is going to the raccoons tonight. Everything else was mediocre at the very best, but the pad Thai isn't edible. This was a great discovery close by. I was very pleased with the quality and presentation of the food. My General Tso's Tofu was presented nicely and not overloaded with sauce. I also had Shrimp Tempura Roll which was delicious. Another time, I had Moo Shu Pork which I never liked before, but now I love it. The location is great for people around Lake Hopatcong. My husband and I thought this spot was just okay. Based on the reviews, we drove a bit out of our way to get Chinese take out. We had dumplings, lo mein, pork buns, and white meat general tso chicken. It was good, but not great. The pork buns didn't exactly taste like the pork buns that I'm used to eating - it was more of basic dumpling filling in a bao. The sauce for the chicken was also a bit watery, which is unusual. FINALLY we have good Chinese food in the area of Lake Hopatcong! Every other Chinese food place around here is horrible to barely passable. I've found some decent sushi but that's it. I went to Damo Eating for the first time the other day and had a lunch special of sweet and sour chicken (cooked perfectly, tender, not stringy and delicious) with an egg roll (if you dine-in you get a spicy home-made duck sauce that is to die for!) with the pork fried rice (it actually has the ingredients that should be in it, lots of pork, bean sprouts, onions, carrots and peas). Add to this nice, friendly service, reasonable pricing and a deck in case you want to sit outside. A great experience and I will be back often! read more

First time eater at this Asian restaurant. My family and I will be back on a regular basis. We were so impressed by the food (which is not easy, especially with 3 little ones). The kids loved all their food for once, I was shocked honestly. The sesame chicken was just the right amount of tender and crunch, & the sauce was thick and generously poured over the chicken without making it soggy. The egg rolls, fried rice, Lo Mein, shrimp dumplings, and ribs were all just as good. But nothing prepared me for the dessert.. The Lemon cake is out of this world! Idk where they get their cakes from, but I want one for my birthday. My husband doesn't even like lemon but he loved this cake. We ate the food so fast & had no intention to leave a review of any sorts, so we didn't take any pictures (sorry bout that). Tonight we went back to Damo with the intention of using a coupon but upon arriving I found that I had forgotten it. I told the very pleasant young woman waiting on us and she told me "don't worry, you can still have the discount". Let me start off by saying that I am the ultimate sushi snob. Having been to Japan more than a dozen times and to Korea more than 30 times, as well as traveling around the country I've had some of the best and worst sushi/sashimi in the world. I don't eat any ridiculous rolls with "special sauce" or with cream cheese or any roll that has a stupid name to it. I eat sashimi. I may also indulge in a salmon skin hand roll or eel hand roll, but that's the extent of it. Well tonight, my wife and granddaughter stopped in late tonight after the mall. We weren't expecting much but the place is close to home and we figured, why not. We were a bit leery since several previous restaurants failed at this location. We ordered salads, seaweed, salmon skin salad, and the Kani salad. All three were good. The salmon skin could have been a little crispier but, not enough to complain. For the main course my wife and I ordered the Sashimi Regular and my granddaughter ordered octopus and red snapper sashimi and a tuna roll. One of the number one issues I have with many sushi restaurants is the sushi/sashimi is warm. Well, not here! The sashimi was cold and extremely fresh. My granddaughter loved the octopus and the red snapper so much she ordered seconds. I laugh at people that eat rolls with cream cheese and write reviews about how fresh the fish is. HOW CAN YOU TELL? IT HAD FREAKING CREAM CHEESE IN IT!!! If you're a true sushi/sashimi connoisseur, this is the place for you. Don't be put off by the location or the empty parking lot. Go there! Chinese is good from what I had, I tried shrimp lo mien, boneless ribs, beef and broccoli. All I enjoyed. Thursday/Sunday half price rolls you can't beat. Took a star off because the lady's kind of rude but whatever. Could have just had a bad day. It's in a really bad location so I don't see it lasting long sadly.
