I do strength and endurance training often, and cannot always afford a sports massage. This place is affordable and close to my house. One day, I stopped in when I was on my way to the taco joint next door. I was pretty sore. Every time I've come, they made me feel nice and relaxed, really loosened me up. Today, I came in to get some relief from jet lag and the usual muscle soreness. After my session (hour body, half-hour scalp), I felt completely different. This place was a great experience! Smells like essential oils and the beds are heated which I have never experienced before. You are offered water and hot tea. The masseuse was always checking in making sure the pressure was right and making sure we were comfortable. It was never too hard or too soft. I know everyone has different preferences, but the fact that the masseuse cared enough to ask more than once showed me she wanted to make sure I had a good experience. Requested foot massage for $25 she said pay first that's not a problem I handed her my cc and then she asked for tip. Being I hadn't been there before and do tip depending on service I said you can add $2 if I like it I will add more she said minimum $5 tip. I'm a great tipper I've worked in the service industry and if the person deserves a great tip I will definitely give one but the fact that I hadn't been seen and she was expecting a tip up front and with a minimum I had to collect my cc and leave. When I first came in, I wasn't greeted by the lady who worked there and when I asked about what their "detox machine" was she reply with a "it's a machine." Lovely. Well after that, I decided not to go with that and chose the 60 min (30min foot + 30 massage) for $30.00. Definitely not the best deal I've seen. As soon as I told her, she pretty much demanded I pay first. I thought that was very odd!! Bye bye ! Next, as I took the money to pay, I noticed another sign next to the pick which massage sign that said something along of the lines of how much to tip!!... It read, "if you like our massages, pls take care of us, like we took care of you. Give at least $10.00 tip," don't quote me. Wow, really?? bye bye star #2. I don't think I have to say it but you tip based on your service. But now that I saw it, I'm feeling obligated, ugh that's just ludicrous. I'm just going to get right to it. The massage was terrible. The hole where you put you face in was so tiny, it was so uncomfortable the entire time. (I literally had a line on my face afterwards.) She pretty much only used her elbows and forearms to rub my back which hurt. Hot stone was only for 2 mins tops and the towel she used to wipe my back was barely warm. I have been to Happy World several times now and enjoyed each visit. The shop is clean and well organized with pleasant music, which I really appreciate as some shops play horrible music and it really ruins the atmosphere. I prefer a medium pressure massage with hot stones for an hour. Communication was easy and my requests were understood each time. Also there is a sign that says for a 60 min massage the tip is $10 and for a 90 min massage tip is $15. They will harass you for a tips . Very unpleasant experience. The massagist did not know what she is doing. Her strength was too much for me, and she seemed didn't have a good knowledge or understanding of the human body as required for a massagist. Especially massage on the upper part of my body, I felt it was torture without any feeling called relaxed! The location is easy to find and the price and environment service is very good. I chose a 70-minute full body massage for only $40, free access to hot stone and hot oil. I was deeply impressed by the massage and I was very relaxed. Her skilled operation was very comfortable on my back. I quickly relaxed and slept for an hour. I've had my fair share of massage parlors and this one is not bad but not great either. Same routine as some of the other SGV foot massages: face, head, arms, hands, feet, legs, back, shoulders and neck. Be aware that there are only four beds in the main room so if they are busy, it will be quite a wait. Also, there are private rooms in the back for body massages. Another downside is that the walls are thin so being located in such a busy plaza and right next to a restaurant you can hear people talking and moving chairs on the other side of the walls. Other than these minor issues, the massages are alright and you do leave feeling greater than when you arrived. It does really depend on who you get. Plus, you cannot ask for much since its $15/hr.
