I have never encountered this issue in the past as I have always dressed nicely when visiting this mall and we have always in the past planned visits around getting a meal or buying some things during our mall walking, but this time we didn't want to spend much money and didn't bother to dress up which ostensibly is a huge problem to South Coast Plaza security and seemed to put a target on us. Good forbid two people who don't look rich want to enjoy a beautiful air conditioned mall on a hot day. Let this be a warning to all that you should look rich and/or visibly be actively spending money here if you want to avoid being followed.

The whole area has a cool, laid back vibe that feels different from your typical shopping center. There are lots of unique shops to browse, along with great food and drink options like Seabirds, Stella Jean's, and other local favorites. Since it's an outdoor shopping center, we got to enjoy the beautiful California sunshine while walking around. One of my favorite parts was all of the art installations scattered throughout the property. They add so much character to the space and make it feel creative and fun. Plus, there are plenty of Instagram worthy spots if you love taking photos. We spent some time checking out the different shops and ended up stopping by Blends. The service there was excellent. The staff was friendly, helpful, and took the time to answer my questions without making me feel pressured to buy anything. I ended up finding a pair of Asics sneakers that I absolutely loved. The pricing was also surprisingly good, which made the purchase even better. Whether you're hanging out with friends, looking for unique stores, or exploring Orange County for the day, it's definitely worth a visit. I'll definitely be back!

Plenty of parking here on a Saturday afternoon and a vendor-y type food and retail market indoors. It's nice to get a coffee before walking around for a bit. I used to visit SOCO for the waffle store on the corner or the Shucks Oyster bar. Now the chocolate or red velvet cupcakes from Susiecakes draw me in. Portola Coffee is still the longstanding purveyor of fine caffeinated drinks. We Olive bar has a bevy of beverages. Palm and Patties burgers is a favorite of my foodie coworkers and me. Then we frequent Sunright, the boba tea shop.

The mall does tend towards high end stores with a small smattering of standard stores but in general, there are a wide variety of stores. Plenty of dining options from high end or quick casual. You can even do your grocery shopping here as there is a Whole Foods market. They occasionally have special events. I happened to be here during the Lunar New Year event so one of the areas was decked out with Year of the Horse decorations. I also always walk by the Koi pond to see how the fishes are doing. Staff has always been friendly and helpful when I visit.

No Movie Theater: For a mall of this size, it's pretty disappointing that they don't even have a movie theater to catch a film. The Silver Lining: Parking: The only consistently good thing about this mall is the parking situation. No matter when you visit, there always seems to be plenty of parking available. Final Verdict: It's a beautiful outdoor space to stroll through, but as a practical place to shop or find entertainment, it's just not the best.

A great walking mall...a gathering place for Central OC…read more... There are a lot that are new and changes. A new Apple Store, a Columbia store and a Nike store. On the weekend there are simply more people. The first mall in America with a Nordstrom and a Target. One of the first mall with a 20 plex movie theater. Now it is a Regal--no longer an Edward. The changes keeps happening, but it is always filled with shops--no empty, open space. I like to walk my nephew's dogs here. They like it here as well. Everyone is happy. Ray out!

[Parking]: There's a designated parking structure for the village. The rate is $10.00 for the first hour, $2.50 each 15 minutes, and $50.00 daily max. Visitors can get a complimentary all day self-parking when spending $250 or more at any of retail merchants within the village - just show receipt(s) totaling $250 or more to the parking attendant. Complimentary 1 hour self-parking with validation with any tenant listed in the Lido Marina Village's directory. [IMPORTANT SPECIAL NOTE]: Herst Coffee Roasters does NOT validate the parking ticket! Only the following dine & drink places validate: Circle Hook, La La Land Kind Cafe (coming soon), Lido Bottle Works, Malibu Farm, Nobu, Skal Pizza, and Zinque. Basically there's no easy "affordable" way to get your ticket validated except for one tip. [PARKING TIP]: I was able to get a free validation at Malibu Farm Lido Home Collection. I simply walked up to the cashier counter and said that I need ticket validation & cashier validated my ticket without asking for any receipts. [Experience]: The village has a nice shoreline view. Sadly, I think it's gone downhill over the years. I see so much potential for what it could be, but it's just not. I do think the Western Bar was a good edition and Seville is nice too. But, it feels really run down. When I went today, none of the escalators were operational and they were extremely dirty with gum stuck all over. I'm not sure if the elevators were working or not, or maybe just really slow! I could not find a public bathroom, and still not sure if one existed. I'd love to see Triangle Square get some shops, maybe a dirty soda shop or ice cream. I think it is a great location and has so much potential.

In between the corners sits a half dozen moderately priced, almost premium "fast" food places that are by no means 'fast food', instead you'll find a great place to grab a higher quality lunch with friends that you could even enjoy sitting down in the sun on their outdoor seats. Some of my favorites places to grab lunch here include Chronic Tacos, Counter Burgers, Pick-Up-Stix, Z Pizza and Coffee Bean. I started parking across the street in the residential area because of this! There are medical businesses, restaurants, coffee, a workout business, and a nail salon to name a few. The building itself is a new, more modern type of place. It's not my favorite place due to the parking and cold modern look of the inside of the building. Very industrial feel, no originality.
