Harbor was recommended to me by my roommate, so my girlfriend and I stopped in on a hot day. It was good, but not out of this world. We both opted for the key lime pie flavor which could have used a little more tang, it tasted more like vanilla with a hint of lime. It could also use more seating in or around the area, we ended up having to stand at the end of the block to eat. The portion sizes too, were overwhelmingly large. While I'm a sucker for ice cream, they accidentally scooped us one size higher than we paid for which normally I wouldn't complain about, but it was WAY too much food. I made sure they scooped some of it back so it wouldn't be wasted. Kudos for the great service! Overall fine, but nothing too special.

Holy delicious ice cream... what a delight So glad we stumbled upon this gem of a place on our very first trip to Newburyport. Great little quaint ice cream shop with a variety of different flavors and styles to appease anybody with a sweet tooth for ice cream. I was very curious about their Cold Brew Frappe which I had to go for their Pumpkin Oreo Cold Brew Frappe. And my goodness it was sublime. And a very sweet & young staff members with the biggest smiles on their faces as they serve to their patrons. A great sweet tooth experience at Harbor Creamery and cannot wait for a return visit in the Fall

After exploring the NH/MA coastline on a hot summer day, my family and I decided to stop by Newburyport for some ice cream. We researched on Google and found that Harbor Creamery is among the top rated ice cream shops in the downtown area. We decided to stop by and get some ice cream to cool off. My girlfriend and I wanted to try their unique Key Lime Pie flavor, I've never had key lime ice cream before. We ordered smalls and the worker accidentally misheard us and scooped a medium sized portion for us- the ice creams were too huge so we asked them to rescoop it, this wasn't a problem! The flavor itself was decent, personally I would've preferred it to be more tart/limey, it was more like a plain vanilla ice cream with a hint of lime. There unfortunately isn't anywhere to sit in the cafe so we sat outside, but it was too hot to sit outside in the summer. I'll probably give it a second chance if I'm in the area, but I'd pick one of their other flavors next time.

We stopped by on a Friday night and had an amazing dessert from Harbor Creamery. First off the service was super polite and professional. They were mobbed and they gave updates, they were fast, respectful and they saw the dogs outside and asked if they wanted pup cups. The girls loved these pup cups! Vanilla base with two bone treats and a yogurt treat on top. As for our ice cream, it was a huge cone and absolutely delicious. You can tell it is made onsite. They also have options to go I. Pints and larger in the coolers and there is a cooler by the door with ice cream sandwiches, mystery "shipwrecked" bags, and some additional treats. They have everything here in such a cute spot. This is worth the visit and the line!

Such a decadent treat! The ice cream here is handmade and they have plenty of rich flavors. I opted for the campfire- sweet cream with chocolate chips, crushed graham crackers and marshmallow. It was absolutely heavenly. My arteries clogged immediately, but it was 100% worth ever spoonful. They have some really great seasonal flavors too, like pumpkin Oreo. Their scoops are incredibly generous. A mini-sized bowl was more than enough for me. I was so impressed by the flavors, portions and price that I'm already itching to go back!

Yum, yum, yum! I made the mistake of ordering the regular sized ice cream instead of the mini and wow... that thing was huge! The cup served as both my breakfast and lunch. No regrets because it was absolutely delicious. I went with the classic Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and that thing was loaded with chunks. Kept me on a sugar high all day long! The shop is located on a cute street in the downtown area of Newburyport, so I took my ice cream and ate it as I walked around. Good local vibes at the shop, but not a ton of seating there. The employees were very sweet and didn't mind when I asked for a sample! Great ice cream and you won't leave hungry!

We had their blueberryport and coffee ice cream which both were great. The main highlight, however, is their great service. We have a nut allergy which we informed them. The staff brought a book with the ingredient list and showed it to us to see if we were okay with them. In addition, they got clean spoons and brand new ice cream buckets to scoop our ice cream. Must visit spot!! The place has a few seats but it is a larger place so it does not feel packed when there are a lot of people.

The Ice cream was delicious. Perfect way to cool down on a hot down in newburyport and make sure you get the jimmies because they are homemade and definitely going to be the best ones you have ever had. ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT HERE!! I loved the anchor and ocean theme.

    Spiced whoppie pie flavor yummm

Just happened to stroll by right before they closed so I got lucky! The staff member was helpful and friendly! I must mention the shop was especially immaculate wow - definitely stood out. They had a decent amount of flavors of ice cream to choose from - I opted for some cultural to New England (from what I gathered lol) - the spiced "whoopie pie". The server told me it was a spiced ice cream with pumpkin whoopie pie bits mixed in...Now, I've never had a whoopie pie and really had no idea what to expect - but this was probably one of the best ice creams I've ever had! The ice cream itself was decadently creamy with just the right amount of spice flavor - and the whoopie pie bits were soft and mellow...it was awesome! My only regret is that I wasn't able to finish it - boy do they give you a massive scoop!! I'll definitely have to try these whoopie pies someday lol!

LOVED the blueberryport flavor!! It was very blueberry and very unique. It wasn't very busy when I went, even in the summer, maybe because it's a little further from the main street? I dont know, but I thought it was the best. I got the smallest size and even that was a very large portion.

It is never too cold for ice cream! The shop will be closing for the season soon, but the holiday flavors are definitely worth a try! I had a regular with the candy cane and gingerbread flavors, and the flavors definitely delivered as advertised. The candy cane was bursting with peppermint flavor and even had little bits of candy cane blended in, while the gingerbread was full of winter spices. These flavors could go toe-to-toe with any of the famous ice cream shops on the West Coast! The gentleman working at the counter was super friendly and hard-working, and knew a lot about how the ice cream was made! The ambience in the shop was definitely on point for a cute seaside town.

First off - super cute shop. Loved the selection of candy, treats, and ice cream. Secondly, thank you for offering dairy free options! The night I went there were four flavors to pick from which was a pleasant surprise. Most ice cream shops only offer dairy free sorbet. I got the peanut butter & jelly and it was amazingly delicious!!! My friend got a real ice cream coffee flavored frappe and they said it was among the best frappe they've had!! Can't wait to come back!!

The person who answered and took the order couldn't have been nicer and explained the procedure... which seemed so very strange. But again, I had a craving... nothing was going to get in my way : - ))) I was asked to wait 10 minutes and then approach the counter area, staying 6 ft back ( luckily it's marked). Then, a staff member will ask my name and put my order on the counter.... All packed with a receipt stapled to the bag. No problem.... I did as told and presto! there it was. I managed a Thank you before he shut the wimdow, grabbed the bag and proceeded back to my car. Opening the bag I noticed how well my craving was packaged.... A spoon and plenty of napkins added. Time to eat! I chose the simple flavor Danish Almond Cream which they've been making like forever.... The ice cream itself was absolutely delicious. The almonds seemed to be a bit chunkier than usual.... During this pandemic I've learned that my dentist's office unfortunately is closed... So being extra careful bc stillI chomped.on the nutmeats. Didn't complain because it was free but like, still a let down. I fear that Hodgies has changed their ingredients recently because to me the quality is noticeably different and lower. I am not fully sure about how the ownership between the locations is, but at the Amesbury location I am seeing the same problem. We bought a gallon of the strawberry ice cream and it was way too aerated. Had no substance or flavor and the texture was awful. Extremely disappointed as this has been my favorite icecream place since I was a kid. Tourists might not notice the difference, but us locals do.

They now accept multiple forms of payment, which makes a huge difference because most people don't carry cash anymore. Being able to tap or swipe a card here has definitely improved the overall experience. This location is truly seasonal. They open in early April and close at the end of October, and on a warm day, you will see steady lines of people stopping in for a cone, sundae, Blizzard, or quick treat. Everything is served outdoors, and the parking lot is large enough that you rarely have trouble finding a spot. My go-to order has always been the classic vanilla cone dipped in chocolate. They make it well, and it's consistently good. They offer doggie bowls, too, which is a nice touch, though the portion size is small for the price. In general, the prices here run a little high, and the amount of ice cream you receive can vary depending on who is serving. When management is on site, you can sometimes tell the portions are more controlled. Still, the staff is always friendly and the service is quick. This DQ doesn't sell hot food, but if you're looking for soft serve, sundaes, Blizzards, or frozen treats, it's a convenient and reliable stop in Salisbury. The updated payment options, friendly employees, and easy parking make it worth coming back each season. A solid four stars, mainly because of the price and quantity inconsistencies, but overall it's a great place to grab a simple ice cream treat on the North Shore.
