However, we always find a quality Noble fir if even we have to hunt a bit. This year was REALLY unusual. The Monday after T Day we went with the idea we'd have to spend time searching. The most helpful young man pointed us to a new field of Nobles. And there, no more than 10 feet in from the path was IT (visions of Clark Griswold!). There were countless more even after that Turkey Day rush. The same man came by in his tractor and asked if he could cut it down for us. He had a chain saw. I had a hand saw. No brainer!! The service and selection are first class. Topping this off is the gift shop, where you pay, has all sorts of Christmas related things, including fresh wreaths (which we bought)

The reason I'm writing this review is because of an uncomfortable checkout experience. While we were waiting in line to weigh our strawberries, we noticed the staff member at the scale zeroing out the container for the customers ahead of us so they wouldn't be charged for the basket/box itself. She even explained it out loud, which we thought was considerate. However, when it was our turn, she did not zero out the scale. We didn't say anything at the time and assumed maybe it was an honest mistake. What felt disheartening was that immediately after we paid and stepped aside, she zeroed out the scale again for the customer right behind us. My friends, who are of Hispanic ancestry, felt very uncomfortable and singled out by the interaction. I don't want to accuse anyone of racism or say this was intentional, because I don't know that. But I do think it's worth sharing because these kinds of small differences in treatment can really affect how people feel in a space. Our overall experience was okay, but that checkout interaction left a bad impression.

Last weekend in June to experience U-Pick Strawberries at most farms in the PNW. Picha Farms is…read moreabout 15 minutes away from us, so we headed out early Sunday morning to pick some strawberries. It was a bit confusing determining where we needed to go. We used Google Maps and it defaulted us to what appeared to be the prepicked strawberries and berries concession. I had to look back on the Instagram page to figure out where the actual plot of land was designated the U-Pick for the day. That was a bit frustrating because it was a video of a screenshot of where to go. No actual address to plug into the map, not even coordinates. The strawberries are $4.15/lb, which is fairly priced. The strawberries that we were picking in our designated row were very small; some were over ripped as well. We didn't stay too long, maybe 30 minutes or so. Our total was $9.50, so a little over two pounds.

When we first started going, the Patch was very simple ... they had a large pumpkin patch and little stand with other smaller pumpkins, gourds, straw bales, corn stalks, and the like. They also had fun wooden cutouts of famous kid movie characters to stick your head through and get pictures, along with a number of old-timey tractors for the kids to climb up onto. Each year they have added more, and this year it was full of kid-friendly activities. There is a small little playground with a slide and see-saw, a large tractor pulled hay rack ride, a faster four-wheeler pulled ride where you can sit in barrels like a train, a small corn maze, a straw pit for the kids to jump into, and a pumpkin cannon (the littles might need headphones for the loud boom). They have also added a little cafe stand with beverages and treats. Dollar for dollar, this is a great value for your money. Let's face it, everything is getting expensive nowadays, but your money is gonna go much farther here at Goodrich Rd. Pumpkin Patch than at other places. Plus, it's not overwhelmingly crowded and crazy-filled with near amusement park type attractions like some other more expensive patches. The owners and staff that work there are extremely friendly and 100% family-friendly. They know folks come here for fun and to be out with the family - they treat everyone like that and are helpful, kind, and caring. I highly recommend the Pumpkin Patch and as long as we're living in these parts, we will Always go there every October for our Fall needs!

Sadly, this little pumpkin patch has declined over the years. It used to be our favorite little…read morelocal place to go without the insane business like Rutledge. They used to have it set up so you could go out into their big fields and pick out all different varieties of pumpkins and they were reasonably priced. Now, the pumpkins are lined up in a row in a lawn area and there is nothing in their fields I wondered out loud if they even grew them there and the lady said they did but then why not leave them on the vine or in the field for the experience? It was a Saturday and not busy at all so I'm guessing others are bummed by the change as well. Pumpkin prices are not marked. We paid 40.00 for 3 medium sized pumpkins and 4 tiny decorative pumpkins. Afterwards we went to Walmart for some groceries and saw similar sized pumpkins for 3.97 a piece for large and 1.00 for tiny ones. We like to support local but I think we will pass next year. Cute little set up for a photo but otherwise just meh.

What a cute place to stop by and view some sunflowers and have a mini photo-op to boot! At the entrance there is a small shop with snacks here and there but the main attraction is the scenery! During pumpkin patch season there is a cute little set up next to the shop to take some photos. The sunflower field is glorious and looks even better around sunset! Keep in mind that if if hasn't rained recently, a cubic butt ton of dust gets kicked up off the gravel road when cars turn in and drive down. It's also a bummer because it makes photos a bit foggy so snap those shots quick! If you're parked at the entrance to take some photos, expect some brown boogies later on in the day, haha!

I also bought some decorative mini pumpkins I painted in a style like Kusama Yayoi and surprisingly it took the pumpkins about 8 months before they rotted so I had an awesome little decoration for a long time! Fast Forward a year later, we had a surprise arrival and brought her to the pumpkin patch when she was about 7 weeks old. We didn't get any pumpkins this time around but still enjoyed some fresh air and taking a few photos and grabbing some fresh produce. The patch is only about 15 minutes from our home so we will likely be doing every year!

The process was super easy, prices were decent, and the oysters were incredibly fresh and delicious. Literally straight from the oyster fields and all still live when you buy them. We came from the Seattle metro, so it was about an hour drive for us, but if you're already in the area, it's definitely worth stopping by. Even with the drive, I'd say it was worth it if you really care about freshness and quality. Their standards seem very high, and this is about as fresh as oysters get.
