Fresh oysters for retail at a great price! The retail shop has no thrills. They sell oysters, oyster knives, and wine - although they are opening up a restaurant right off the Purdy Bridge in 2026. They're located about 5 min off highway 303. I already can't wait to return! read more

We had a blast on our venture to Minterbrook. My wife and I drove over from the Puyallup area after this place was recommended by a chef at All Water Seafood. It's a nice drive out to Gig Harbor, and the facility is tucked back in a quiet neighborhood. The staff are so very friendly and the property is massive. Jake gave us a tour and shared the history of Minterbrook and the science behind an Oyster farm. Of course we ordered several different oysters, my favorite being the x-small Pacific's! Prices were surprisingly reasonable. The day we went, the selection was limited. Service was okay -The man providing us the service misunderstood our order - we were given more oysters than what we wanted/ordered. We wanted 3 dozen total, and we were given/charged for about 6 dozen. The majority of the oysters were in good condition, only a handful were caked with mud. Hindsight, we wish we knew they sold oyster knives, we would have bought one. All in all, we would return again. read more

No question about five stars. This place ships oysters all over the world, to some of the most well-known restaurants. They grow the oysters, clams, geoduck right there at their facility. They are super friendly, and I mean super friendly, and the oysters we got from them were perfect in every way. We live in Gig Harbor, less than a 1/2 hour away and this will be a regular stop. Great place to get oysters It's a bit of a drive from my house but well worth it. I have been coming here for years now. Can't say enough great things about this place. Has a small town appeal with some great people working here. It might be a little confusing if you are new to the experience but it is well worth getting accustomed too. The prices are at wholesale for fresh products to the retail consumer if you are willing to make the drive and navigate the process. This place is a PNW hidden gem. My husband really wanted to visit an oyster farm during our most recent visit to Washington. And so we came by Minterbrook Oyster Farm on a Thursday afternoon to see what we could get. For parking, there is no designated parking lot, but several areas where you can park. We parked close by the main office area. After walking around a little bit (being a bit loss) we found an employee and told him we wanted to purchase some oysters. He pointed to this office and so we went in there and waited for a while. After another employee came to help us (I think this employee speaks better English than the other employee, which we are assuming that employee might have went to find this employee and asked him to help us), we ended up purchasing: 1 Dozen Medium Oysters, $10- These were pretty good and the size of the medium oysters were actually pretty big. The freshness of the oysters were excellent. My husband cooked these on a barbecue grill at Horseshoe Lake County Park (which is a few miles away) so that we could eat them. 1 Dozen Large Savory Clams, $4- The savory clams are $4 per pound and 1 dozen Manila clams are $5.75 per pound. But we got charged for the Manila clams instead of the Savory, paying an extra $1.75. We didn't realize this while we were there so be sure to check your receipt and avoid getting over charged like us. Anyways, my husband cooked these clams and they were tasty. The size of the clams (forgot to take a photo of the actual clams) were a pretty good size and definitely a good price for the amount (and yes, even at the overly priced charge too). ------------------------- (Total= Should have been $14 but because we were incorrectly charged, $15.75) In the office to purchase your seafood bounty, most likely there will not be an employee inside the office. There is a paper sign that suggest to ring the bell repeatedly to get someone's attention or to call someone on the numbers listed. Please note that this place is closed on Sundays and do not accept checks as payment. Also credit transactions require a minimum of $25. So bring cash if you plan on purchasing less. read more

This gem, family owned oyster farm is tucked away in the nestles of the backwoods and very much worth the trip! We were fortunate enough to catch the owners son Garrett who graciously toured us around his farm. As avid oyster connoisseur's, we were so very much excited taking a tour and seeing how oysters are farmed and cultivated. Love!! Sweet dreams are made of shells!! Who am I to disagree!! On my weekend trip to gig harbor, this was my most excited stop!! My awesome friends knew I'm an oyster fiend and brought me here. It was love at first sight!! Piles and piles of shells all over! Everywhere!! Shells covered ground!! Mountains of big oyster shells! Traps!! And ran by two awesome gentlemen!! Once inside, you can see a ton of live shellfish!! Clams, mussels, different kinda of oysters!! My kind of wonderland! We walked away with few dozens live oysters, clams and mussels for around $50!!! Like get out!! Went home, shucked, cooked, sip and ate till we passed out! I love eating clams raw and these ones are extra sweet! Love the oysters too. My only complaint is that I can't make another weekend trip sooner to here!! read more

I'm wondering if its possible for someone to get tired of eating oysters and clams. My new plan is to buy a home close by Minterbrook Oyster Farm, retire, and walk or ride my bike there several days a week to get fresh shellfish. I think I could do that for a very long time. My wife and I stopped by here on our way back to Portland and picked up a couple dozen oysters and some clams. We grilled and steamed them this evening and ate until we couldn't eat any more. Whenever we visit the coast we always try to pick up fresh oysters. This is the first time we've been up this way and visited Minterbrook and the shellfish were some of the best we've ever eaten. Great fresh product and wonderful people who work there! We visit them once a week for oysters clams and mussels.

I feel like I need to balance out that one review. I bought 12 dozen assorted small and medium oysters for a bbq party last weekend. Every single oyster was delicious and sweet. Appreciated by my 50+ guests of whom many sought me out to find out "Where did you get those oysters? They are unbelievably wonderful". Adding to that, when I drove out to pick them up the guy who prepared my oysters packed them in ice and in a styrofoam cooler that kept them perfect to set on the table by the bbq. They were rinsed and clean, ready to go. Sometimes we have to spend some time rinsing the sand and mud off, not these! One of the brothers who owns the farm handled my order, super pleasant guy and very helpful. It did not smell bad, ever. Overall there was nothing that could've made my experience better, I will definitely go back soon! read more

The retail location is nothing special, basically just a counter in the processing area, but who cares... It's an oyster farm. The extra small minters are the way to go- very creamy and super fresh with a slight brine touch. They have a couple other varieties of oysters and jars of pre-shucked if that's your thing. read more

Drove all the way out to Minterbrook. I had no trouble finding it because you can smell it before you see it. The place is a dump. The place looks like little Mexico. I was trying to find out where to buy oysters. No one could tell me. No one spoke english. Finally found their store. I asked their smallest oysters in the jar. The man told me he only had Medium oysters. I asked for clams. They were out. There was nothing to buy. I asked what had happened to the place. I was told it was under new ownership. You can tell. Fresh, sweet shellfish. Not a fancy storefront, but I'd rather they focus attention to farming then to decoratibg. Its a factory store. We're lucky they even offer retail.
