Quick Fact: 90-day return policy, for open box items, 5-day return policy. I woke up with one of my tires flat this morning. So I need to pump it up in order to get it to discount tire. I decided to come to Harbor freight for a tire pump because they have more than one option. I looked on their website and many of them were in stock. They all had decent pricing. When I got there, I saw that they had started their Black Friday sale. It was very good with many items being heavily discounted. I mean, Harbor Freight already has decent pricing so with a discount on top of that there were a lot of good deals to be had. I also saw that they had these sockets that were colorful. I took a picture and videos of everything they have in there as well as the sockets for you to see. I haven't seen sockets like that at Walmart or Home Depot. So that is a unique item they carry. Customer service was great. I asked an associate where the tire inflators were and he took me right to them. The checkout guy was great too. He was very nice. I included two videos of my interactions with the two employees to show how good their customer service was. Some people hate on Harbor freight for having cheap tools. But I have read online from many people that they used to have poor quality products. However, the inventory they're keeping these days is much better than it was. So give them a second chance. You might end up saving money with your next project. read more

We visited the Everett, WA, location last weekend. An item had a YELLOW weekend special coupon but we were charged full price. We returned today (7 days later) to be told that it never existed. They refused to give us the coupon price. They chose to lose a longtime customer over $5!! Kudos to Robert the manager who was kind and understanding. Zero stars to grumpy team member Julie who had a scowl on her face the whole time she was at checkout NOT being helpful or very nice. If you buy a pump of any kind it is not eligible for return. We came home from the Monroe store discovering that our pump we just bought was broken. We went to the Everett store knowing we bought the last one at Monroe. Robert then explained the policy despite us returning a broken and used item within the hour. It smelled of chemicals upon opening the box . That is a real bummer and I get the policy but unfair to customers not getting what they paid for and spending gas and time to try to get a replacement. So now we have to keep the broken one and call main office to tell our story all over again. Sigh. OK. But I won't go wait in Julie's line next time either. read more

I can't give 5 stars because a lot of what they sell here is trash. However, if you read the reviews on their site, which I've found to be accurate, you really can get decent tools for bottom dollar. This is especially the case if you need something to use only a few times. For instance, I installed a bunch of crown molding a few years ago, and it was cheaper to buy an air compressor and nailer here than to rent them, and was really pleased to not be using a hammer. I have used it since, for other projects as well. Now I'm building a guitar, and I've got the compressor to use for sanding and painting, and I consider that frosting on the cake, given what I paid. I bought a Chicago Electric rotary tool for @$30 here recently, rather than the $100 Dremel from Lowes, and was able to use it to make a few guitar-specific tools rather than than pay big bucks for them. If it dies tomorrow, I've already made money. So, if you're not needing tools for hard, everyday use, then you may find a low cost version of what you need here. As a new home owner, I must confess Harbor Freight has been a staple to my home renovations. It has a little bit of everything. Tools more affordable than you would find at Home Depot or Lowe's -- anything from auto to gardening. The only reason why I give it 4 stars is because HF doesn't have an exhaustive variety or supply of everything you need such as lumbar and other building material. Staff who work at this location are friendly and helpful. They also make sure you are aware or any deals or coupons that are available. Whoever manages this store should give lessons in customer service. Every time I go into this store, the place is loaded with friendly, knowledgable, honest staff who are willing to help, lift and carry anything - all the way to my truck. And they are the first to offer advice on when to purchase the extended warranty plan - and are quick to replace and refund when something doesn't work as advertised. I chose to purchase the membership and in addition to getting some special offers, the clerks take the time to actually look for any coupons I may have missed. It's like the clerks are comp'd on how much money they can save me. And for the critics on Harbor Freight merchandise - there is a reason it is lower priced than any other place. On all of my purchases over $100, I do my homework - looking at reviews and getting myself educated before spending the $$. And I have bought items that have flat out failed and didn't work - but I have bought far more than worked better than I imagined and was definitely a real value. Bring a bib, cause all those tools there will make you drool. Especially at the coupon or bargain prices they have there. Sure, they aren't the best tools, but likely I'd even wear them out if they WERE the best. I've burnt out many heat guns. Their low cost circular saw has parts that detach due to vibration. Reciprocating saw: front guide fell off early on. I have like 6 black Drillmaster cordless drills. I use one nearly all day every day, and in my opinion, this one is the best. 2 quit working. Harbor Freight Tools is one of those places where you can buy cheap, cheap hardware mostly made in China. I like to support businesses that sell goods made in the USA, so whenever I go here (which is rarely) I feel a twinge of guilt. Most of the items aren't the highest quality, and buying here doesn't support the US manufacturing but if you're pinching pennies and need (for instance) a low cost 3-million candle power floodlight for under $20 this is the place to go. I've been going to HF for over ten years, most of that at this location. My rating is based on value, not top quality. It's also in part to the staff and return policies, both of which are very good. Like most anywhere I shop, do your homework. Many items are a great/tremendous value, others are basically junk. You can also find made in USA there. I got many Goodyear air hoses there at half the cost elsewhere. HF branded items though is where the real value is. One thing to know about HF is that you really need to look at sale prices, fliers, coupons, etc. There are many ways to sign up for savings. HF is known for floods of coupons, sales, etc. After awhile you start to know the prices and when something is on super duper sale. I also find their prices great for having many mini sets of tools, like one in my truck, one in my camper, one in my house for common tasks, etc. Many items are the exact same items other stores sell under a brand name for 2-3 times the price. I can't tell you how many times I've seen the EXACT same item at Sears or HomeDepot but with different color and box labeling. I mean same casting marks/identifiers etc. But the HF price is so much lower. This is common with a lot of China items, some China company makes something and multiple companies sell it under their brand with custom colors, manuals, boxes, etc. Some key items I've found great value... towing hitches/locks/etc., lifts and floor jacks, sand blast cabinets, generators and engines, wheels, tarps, any hand tools under the "Pro"/"Professional" line, consumables (drill bits, grinding discs, micrometers, many air tools and sprayers, screws/washers/nuts/bolts, orings, cleaners, auto body stuff, etc.), and a special call out to their amazing like of toolboxes (the red ones, all sorts of reviews online). read more

Nice selection of tools but a TERRIBLE return policy. According to the cashier if you don't turn over all of your personal information (Full Name, Address, Phone Number, etc.) then you have no ability to return an item, EVEN WITH A RECEIPT. In this age where even the most secure web sites are hacked on a daily basis this is a very intrusive policy that places customer data in jeopardy should they happen to lose control of it. No company can protect this information once they have it on their server and the burden of protecting it always falls on the customer, never the company that allowed it to be stolen. Whenever this does eventually happen you can expect a lame remedy from the company at fault where they supply a years worth of account monitoring or even less in some cases. No thanks, Harbor Freight. You can keep your tools while I buy mine from a reputable company elsewhere. read more

Went to harbor freight planning on buying a $799 inverter generator. I had the 20% off coupon for the "weekend sale." When they refused it, they said it didn't apply to predator products. When I got home I got a magnifying glass so I could read the fine print. It's no good for 8 categories of items (all high priced) and 21 brands which make up a significant portion of their inventory. The coupon would be easier to understand if they just told the truth. 20% off one item as long as it doesn't cost over a few bucks. This is as close to a scam as I've ever seen in a big marketer. Only reason I gave them 1 star was because I couldn't give them zero. read more

I like this place......for small tool needs. I would not buy any power tools here. Spend the extra $$$ to get quality power tools. I like this place for the small things that I need like paint brushes, sponges, shop towels, tarps...etc. I outfitted my garage with these items for pretty cheap. Beware that they do sell things made in China that are of poor quality. Check the item before you leave to make sure it's not defective. To start, I don't normally write reviews, but this was not a normal situation and requires positive attention. So more than a month ago I bought a folding utility trailer from this great store. I live in Bellevue but they were the only ones who had it in stock and I was impatient. So I drove all the way up to Everett. Purchase went smooth, they helped me load it up, brought it back home that same day. Several weeks later, when the DMV finally opened up, I went to register the trailer. I was unaware that I would need the receipt to show that sale tax was paid. I had already thrown it away. So on the suggestion of the licensing agent I called the store in hopes they could provider me another copy... in comes Tyler. This wonderful human took the time to look up my old transaction, head across the store to the other office, print it out, take my email, and send me a copy. He stayed on the phone with me the whole time until i could confirm i had recieved it. Not only did he save me over $50 in fees at the dmv, but this was the only day i had off of work to get this done. Tyler, you da man, thank you buddy. I can understand the other comments here, but Harbor Freight is getting 5 stars from me because they aren't at all pretentious about who they are, what they sell, and their policies. And to me, that's what a business should be judged upon, how true to their presentation they stay. Who cares if they buy from China, who cares if some stuff is cheap? Its the CHEAPEST (literally) place to buy any tools. And contrary to some people's comments, I've used a lot of their stuff. It rarely breaks, and when it does, you bring it right back for a free replacement! Sure beats buying Utterly overpriced Snap On tools, and getting the same replacement deal. I used an Engine hoist from Harbor Freight and I've done like 10 engines with it. Its like new still. Every tool that I've had break on me, they replace instantly even without packaging or receipt! I own an auto mechanic garage so I buy a lot of tools and other stuff (magnetic dishes, tie-downs, rolling stools, etc). I've learned which tools to pay for better quality because they get a lot of heavy use but HF is a very good value for the occasional use tools and just about everything else. Although I shop here first for deals, it comes in a close second that they treat me like a knowledgeable customer rather than some dumb girl running to the store for the men. Harbor Freight Store: Jefferson City, MO 65109 Ken Marsch 209 Manila Jefferson City, MO 65109 573-634-3216 Incident: 9/23/2017 The store has been in Jefferson City for some time and I had never check it out. On 9/23/2017, I made my very first visit to store. I knew nothing about the store or it inner working or policies. I found $33.13, which was 3 items had which I thought were on "sale". I went to check out and I could not see the register's display because it was facing the clerk and not easily visible to customers (I now know why). I was putting the merchandise on my master charge card. When I inserted the card the display showed "approved". I removed the card and the signature block appeared. When I signed and entered done, the computer "froze" and nothing would work. The clear tried to clear and nothing would happen. The manager approached and he had to reboot the computer. My transaction did not re-appear. When this was happening, I looked at the register display and show the merchandise was at regular prices. I asked why and the clerk as what color was the sale tag. I thought that was strange but I told her orange. She said "o that is an instore something. I asked the manager and he was not interested and at this I requested to refund or cancel my purchase. I did not want anything from that store. The manager was very uninterested and appeared not to care. He never answered but said "wait 2-3 days and see if the charge hits your card. If it did, just come back and I will take care of it. I ask how he would take care of it when I have no proof. This manager was a real "deal". I told him if this is how he treats customers on their very first visit, I could imagine how he would treat them if they had a warranty problem or another in-store problem. The manager did not respond as if he could care less. H motioned with an expression of "I don't give a s***" attitude (pardon my language but this word describes the type of attitude). This manager could have handled this easily by giving me the sale prices and then telling me the store policy was and how I could get the sale prices in the future but no, I just made a substantial" enemy of me when it comes to Harbor Fright. I will go out of my way to discourage anyone I meet to even visiting the store much less buying anything. Before I wrote this not, I have already send out a lot of negatives on your store. I will continue to copy and paste this review into any retail customer review sites that I can find and also to the city chamber of commerce of which I have a strong standing. I think you can tell I am furious and if it is on my card, know I got to go back into the store and talk to this "idiot". Follow-Up: 9/30/2017, the cancelled purchase of $33.13 was posted to my credit card on 9/27/2017. On 9/30/2017, I contacted an assistant manager (Kyle) by phone. He advised the store manager was not on duty today. He took my information and advised he would contact the accounting office and see if they would make an adjustment. However, I told him about how the store manager could have avoided this by giving me the sale prices but there was no response from Mr. Kyle. Still not much improvement in CUSTOMER NO SERVICE from this company. I have not received any thing from this company at this point. If I do, I would update this review. I called Mr. Kyle back today (5 October 2017). I informed him the credit of $33.13 still has not be credited to my credit card. Mr. Kyle said it would take 2-3 weeks. This long just to get something corrected that should have never happened in the first place. Once again Harbor Freight store in Jefferson City MO is a NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. I would expect this is typical of ALL of their stores. Never, Never, Never shop or even go into a Harbor Freight store. There was no receipt from this purchase because the computer system crashed and there was no way to get a receipt. Purchased a sandblast cabinet from Harbor Freight several years ago. While the cabinet itself is ok, every time I need to order replacement parts, such as the flimsy little plastic window liners, I am told they are on back order. It has taken up to 4 months for me to receive parts! Additionally, they have triple-raised their prices on all of the parts I have tried to order. When talking with customer service, the only response I receive is "I'm sorry". I am really tired of dealing with this company. One star is being too nice and I will be replacing the blast cabinet from a more reliable vendor. read more

The Everett Harbor Freight is a perfect place to shop. I check out the sales ad for things I might need. Then, usually with a coupon in hand ( they have great coupons) I head to the store. There's always other things I find I can use. ( like the awesome brush set I found there). Great prices too. Then if I do have to return something, that is super easy.
