We popped into the nursery section and were surprised to see a decent selection of spring plants (well beyond what I was looking for). We picked up a few plants and potting soil and fought the urge to buy more. Our checkout experience was smooth and quick. This location is ideal - not too far from Trader Joe's and our other "to do" spots (about 20 min. from downtown).

We did end up purchasing a refrigerator before we left. While checking out the appliances one of the Lowes signs fell from a refrigerator and onto my foot causing a bruise. I would suggest a new signage system to prevent further customers from being unnecessarily injured while the are shopping. I would also like for management to be more engaged with their employees. We stood in an aisle of the tools sections waiting for help after we asked for it for over 20 minutes. In that time I counted 5 employees standing around doing nothing but talking while we were waiting. We finally got fed up with waiting and checked out. We came to Lowe's after going to Home Depot where the service was even worse. After this I don't know if we will want to support either business.

I was greeted as I walked in, and I headed for the indoor plant section. I was amazed to find the plant I had been searching for at every area nursery, African milk tree (Euphorbia trigona) There was an entire section of them, all very healthy looking and at an unbelievably inexpensive price. The information with them said that they were raised especially for Home Depot on a family farm in California, providing the family farm bio. I purchased several, and the friendly cashier mentioned that another customer had bought an entire cart full of them. I told her they were hard to find and I was very happy to find them here. So Home Depot is definitely more than a home improvement store. The next time you are looking for indoor plants be sure to check them out.

We had to park down the street since brunch was busy and we wanted to get our steps in so we were just going to carry them or I would have had my daughter go get my car but Todd was kind enough to put them on a cart and walk with us. I also want to add the prices were really too good to pass up and my purchase would have been well over $100.00 elsewhere. Glad we stopped in. The store offers an array of grills, power tools, paints and general hardware supplies. The shelves are remarkably well organized and neat. Many shelves were empty as I assume they are preparing for spring inventory. Many items were on clearance including Yetis so there are some great deals. In the entry alcove is a fascinating history of the hardware store's evolution. The history dates back to at least 1889 when the store was located at 110 West Main Street in Carmel. The store has been owned by four families start with O. W. Nutt prior to 1889. Steve White bought the store in 1984 and built the current location on Rangeline Road in 1989. I love that someone took the time to capture the history. There's plenty of parking in their private lot. You can only enter or exit going north in Rangeline, but the roundabouts make going in the right direction easy.

They charged me $52.00, as opposed to $56.29 that Great Lakes initially charged me (and refunded). They also put a charge of $81.90 on the warranty work order that I apparently wasn't actually expected to pay, and didn't. But why a 45% increase, even on paper? I sent a copy of my original review a week ago to Great Lakes Ace Customer Service on their website. To date, a week later, I have had no response. This tells you everything you need to know about their concept of "customer service." Take your business elsewhere.

It is noteworthy that they carry a limited selection of frozen Moody meats. Moody is my favorite local butcher. Prices were reasonable. I think the store has the best selection of funny greeting cards that I have seen anywhere. The store also offers patrons complimentary popcorn and Rivet coffee. Gourmet coffee! What a treat! In case you were wondering, my husband was able to replace the drawer bracket and my kitchen is back to normal. We even went back over to Ace and ordered another drawer bracket so we would have a backup. Benge's Ace is a great addition to the neighborhood. Like other ACE hardware stores that are in the "mid size" you'll find everything you need up to bulk building materials. The parking was a little confusing. The main entrance is not on the main side facing the street but around back. But there is tons of parking and everything inside is very well laid out and labeled on what is where. The place is immaculately clean and the staff were all very kind and helpful. This was my first time in so I'll provide another update upon a return trip. The prices were fair and average for an ACE store and considering the side of town. All in all it's super convenient for those in the area to now have a local hardware store nearby.
