He told me to bring the trees inside and assured me they would be able to look up the receipt using my credit card. Relying on this information, I went home, loaded up all 6 trees, drove back, and unloaded them at the return desk. However, the cashier (Linda) working the afternoon shift refused to help unless I provided a SKU number. I explained that I had already planted other trees from the same batch and discarded the tags, and I provided the exact date of purchase. She stated this was not enough and told me she could not look up the transaction without a SKU number. When I asked if she could help find it, she actually expected me to go back out into the store aisles and search for the SKU number on the display myself, making zero effort to assist a customer. Which I did go outside in the heat to obtained the sku number for her, I did get HER job! This is the closest location to my home, and I am a frequent shopper there. However, after being given conflicting information and receiving this level of unhelpful service, I will no longer shop at this Home Depot. I am more than happy to drive a few extra miles to a different location in the next city where customer service actually values their patrons.

Only the fourth owner of record, local resident Paul Jones grew up shopping in this store that he now owns and operates. The 100 year old Rutledge Hardware store also is home to his custom furniture workshop. Spring time is the best time of year as Rutledge Hardware is about the only place around where you can buy seed potatoes and bulk garden seed, weighed up by hand the old fashioned way! Paul sells you as much or as little garden seed as you want along with beautiful garden plants he cares for daily and keeps fresh for you to plant. He sells flowering plants, vegetable plants, onion sets, seed potatoes, you name what you want for your garden and chances are he will have it right there for you! Paul builds 18th Century Furniture Reproductions in the back warehouse area when he isn't waiting on customers up front or visiting with them outside.
