The staff are personable and helpful and it carry's many smaller items (like unique screws, nuts and fasteners) in small or singular quantities so you don't have to buy a "lifetime supply" for one project like you would have to at a Lowes or Home Depot!

Why: Selection: This store has pretty damn much anything you could need, with limits. Kitchen, hardware, tools, electrical, garden, paint, nuts, bolts, chemicals. It's not a warehouse, it's a STORE. So calm down if you don't have every option, you're going to get in the ballpark. This fall I found a great manure fork here (no I don't live in Iowa but it's a great garden tool and mine got "lost" in my last move). PS, the big orange didn't even have one. Price: I was pricing Weber bbqs this summer and the units here were 10% less than pocket ace or Elk Grove. That got my attention. I recently got a great shovel for $16.99 on sale. Yes, a sale. You will have a range of options and usually there is a cheap(Er) option than at other stores, and better made. Recently I was pricing shovels at Home Depot and their cheaply made unforged (but costly) shovels couldn't match the shovel I bought at Hollywood. Help: someone can help you if you ask but you can browse without feeling like you are being stalked. Oddities: my last time here while at check out a customer came in cradling a duck and said out loud "I have a duck that needs repair." No one was fazed. This Emigh has become an El Dorado Hill's favorite. Hands down. It is definitely the community store for everyone. The customer service EXCEEDS (yes in caps) any I have received anywhere. You walk in and you, the paying customer, are greeted and asked if you need help. I am still amazed by that. The many times I have come to Emighs for very specific needs 99 percent ends with just the right gadget, advice or information I needed. I would not stand a chance at the big box stores (hello... anyone working here:)) The value of having a store of this quality so close by is priceless. Yes, you may pay a little more here but time is money in my book. A car phone holder? Yes! They had it. And the employee who led me directly to the small cache of choices even installed it in my car!!! Big thank you shout out for that. We were told it would take about a week and a half, but to our surprise they had both ready in just 24 hours! We couldn't believe the turnaround time. On top of that, Kira the checker went above and beyond helping my mom. She no longer had the Ace Rewards app on her Samsung phone and wasn't sure how to check for coupons. Kira patiently helped her download the app, get everything set up again, and even found a $5 coupon that my mom was able to use toward the purchase of her screens. It's rare to find this level of friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring customer service. The entire experience was phenomenal from start to finish.
