A business that rents hundreds of cars, and gets 3-4 bad reviews is still doing something right. Arrived at LIH, got on the shuttle (no wait, lucky) got to their compound, car was already parked outside. Spoke to Michelle...she was truly, truly amazing. She was welcoming, warm, and extremely polite. It was a delight working with her, and her giving some tips I haven't heard of being on Kauai. My only criticism was that the car was definitely not cleaned well enough for my liking. I suppose that's do to turnover... but that will be taken to account. Return of the vehicle was smooth. Uncle on Thursday night was very polite and super funny to talk to. Just great customer service from arrival to departure. I will use SIXT again on Kauai should the same deal pop up for me!

After I returned the car, the staff cleared it during the walk-around. No issues. No mention of damage. Then I disputed the insurance charge and got it refunded. Two days later, I receive an email claiming there's damage to the vehicle. I called to discuss it. The damage department won't speak to customers--apparently that's their policy. When I questioned how suspicious that sounded, the rep laughed and hung up on me. Called back and got a different rep who said the first one left no notes. Now I'm fighting with this company over damage I didn't cause, with no way to actually resolve it. Stay away from this company. Look on Google and see what people say about sixt. It's disgusting.

I first spoke with Heidi about pricing and available cars. Every time I called, she told me to call back because the owner wasn't there. Apparently no one can book a rental unless the owner is present, which seems like a huge red flag for a rental business. After about my fifth phone call, Heidi told me the owner still wasn't back and that they "most likely" wouldn't have any cars available for my trip...which is still a month away. A few days later I called again, hoping to finally speak with the owner. Instead, I got Terry. I honestly don't know how she works in customer service. During the call she actually said things like, "Ugh," and, "I can't do this right now. Call back when the owner is here." I was completely shocked. Can't do what? Your job? Two days later, I finally reached the owner. I explained how unprofessional Terry had been, and he literally laughed and said, "Well, yeah. No worries, I'm back now." There was no apology or concern whatsoever. I also explained that Heidi had originally quoted me $420 for a week, then later said they probably wouldn't even have cars available. The owner laughed again and said, "No, we have cars." Then he informed me the rental would actually be $600 instead of the $420 I'd been quoted. After that conversation, I came here and read multiple reviews from customers who said they were quoted one price and charged significantly more when they picked up their rental. That was enough for me to decide to take my business elsewhere. Between the inconsistent pricing, lack of communication, rude customer service, and the owner's dismissive attitude, I wouldn't trust this company with my vacation or my money. Rent somewhere else... you'll likely save yourself a lot of frustration!

We reserved a 2025 blue jeep with one touch sky roof. Spendy, but we counted it as a way to fully enjoy the lush landscape around us. The one touch sky roof feature was absolutely fantastic. We could easily switch between buttoned up and fully open top as we ventured out between rain showers. I highly recommend this car rental option for being able to rent the exact vehicle you want, without having to guess your luck with the phrase "or similar". Cons: Being a unique car rental company, without long lines or disappointments to start your vacation, I will say it took a fair amount of trust to rely on the good word of the company that things would go as promised. There is zero in person contact at pick up or drop off. You pick up and drop off in a deserted parking lot away from the airport, closer to the cruise ships, using a lockbox. The uber ride airport to lot and reversed at the drop off was less than $40 total. We had one person get the car and pick up the others and all luggage. It was not a far distance, but not walkable. Lucky for us the rental was exactly as hoped for and we would repeat the experience if we are lucky enough to visit Kauai in the future. For those wondering why there are no recent (2025) reviews, I'll say there isn't an easy way to leave a review on their website right now.
