My mother had to recover from a fall and staff worked closely with my family to make sure that my mother got the care she needed to recover as much of her activities as possible in a safe and appropriate manner. The facility seems more like a Marriott than an assisted living facility. The food is surprisingly good, including wine at dinner. There are smaller private dining areas for family events, which we have used for than once. I could not imagine my mother at any other facility. Unfortunately several of the folks near my husband's room had dementia and screamed much of the day, which made for a difficult healing environment. We were most interested in physical therapy and although the practitioner was fine, he was often working with 3-4 patients at a time. There were several occasions where he just couldn't fit my husband in. We would not use this facility again.

I consider myself a bit of a food snob but the food at Guilford House is definitely above any hospital or medical rehab facility that I have attended. My father was brought to this facility because I heard so many positive endorsements. Having…read moresomeone with memory issues is scary. His previous facility he fell and they didn't find him for hours. When we brought him here I was adamant about having a camera in his room. The leadership begged me to "lead with trust" don't put the camera there. I said I needed it to be there for at least 30 days until I was comfortable so could look in on my dad. Within 7 hours of moving him in he was abused by 2 CNA's at the facility. The male CNA verbally berated him for soiling himself. Yelling at him they the bathroom was right there and that he belongs in another facility. While he was manhandled to the bathroom, crying out in pain. The other CNA laughed while looking directly at the camera I placed. To be clear there was a note on the door indicating my camera was there. . After seeming the footage an hour later I rushed to the facility to see my dad and tell the nurse manager (absolutely also inadequate) what I saw and show her the footage. i made a police report but since there were no marks they could do Nothing even tho I showed them the stomach turning footage. I called the state of Connecticut too. But since this facility is "private pay" and not a T19 facility they would investigate but not really do anything. Both CNA's were fired and I believe their licenses taken. Other per diem CNA's told me similar stories even saying they were leaving their shift to report the facility for other violations as well. Do not trust this facility or any facility without pushing for a camera you can monitor. I'm so glad I found this out. There ARE wonderful care providers out there that do this work with compassion.Even in this facility. This sadly was our experience. The nurse manager was beyond incompetent and the leadership as well. Having someone with memory issues is very hard. You can feel like you don't have choices. You do. Go with your gut Good luck if you place a loved one here.

They also have live music once or twice a week ! They even have a beauty parlor to get your hair and nails done! The food is delicious and the atmosphere at Artis is homey with artwork on the walls they even do cookouts and the patients can sit outside and eat! Via an incredible grant from the Parker Jewish Institute someone will be here while I'm away. The agency, Home Instead, is incredible. The coordinator accompanied today's aide to make introductions. Wednesday's aide stopped by for a long visit. I'm stunned both wanted extensive demonstrations of their responsibilities. I've got a long list of things to finish before I leave. However, I feel comfortable leaving my parents in good hands. If any Long Island people ever need a home health aide Home Instead is top notch.

The kitchen/dining room staff were also good, made an effort to be helpful and flexible. Lenny -- head of facilities -- is great. I was less impressed with some of the nursing staff and administration. Not terrible but... The front porch rocking chairs and the back garden are very pleasant, apartments were fine though there is only 1 ac per unit which means the bedrooms can get very warm in the summer. Because it's non-profit, the focus is not on the money, so they don't nickel and dime you like other places; the focus is on the relationships and the care. My mom lived here 4 years, and everyone (and I mean everyone) felt like my own family, from the residents to the staff to the family of the residents. The support system here is marvelous -- my parents made strong friendships with the other residents easily, and I made friends with the residents and family members, so we shared and supported each other better than real family. Try it out; I don't think you'll be disappointed. Just come visit us; it's a different feeling the minute you walk in.

A huge mispresentation of facts, poor service and bad food is my experience at Crescent Point…read more My 85 year old father was walking on his own, driving and articulate in all ways prior to him moving into Crescent Point. My family was outright lied to and today after his fall while being transported by the repairman at Crescent Point he can't walk on his own and is confined to a wheel chair. The shower never worked in his room and I complained several times to no avail. They will say anything to get you to select Crescent Point, in fact they promised to transport my dad to his girlfirend's home three times a week and they never did once. An aide yelled at him in the dining room when he was incontinent. If you have any issues they have a thousand excuses and alway circle back and will blame your family member as being confused, ect. I have several emails where I complained about the same thing and they never did anything. We were told that they have a full nursing staff, but they don't. At night there are no nurses. After my dad fell and they brought him back to his room, the nurse called me at 8 o'clock and told me that my dad was in distress and that I had to make a decision to send him to the hospital or that she was going home. FIRST TIME I HEARD that there wasn't a round the clock nursing staff. This place should be SHUT DOWN. I filing complaint with the Connecticut Department of Social Service for Elder Abuse. Fact: When you take out your loved one out at night and just bringing them back to Crescent Point it will take you a get 15 minutes to ring a bell before the aide comes back to open the door and let you in...absoulutely crazy. My Dad lost considerable weight while his at Crescent ....the food was horrible. I do not reccommend Crescent point and am moving on to litigation.

The staff is kind, patient and really care about Mom, even on her difficult days.
