There are smaller private dining areas for family events, which we have used for than once. I could not imagine my mother at any other facility. For several months, the staff has worked tirelessly to find the right fit for her... she is not suited for independent living nor the memory care, so they have recommended a sort of "middle ground " solution ,,, classic assisted living as the proper atmosphere for her needs. My point in mentioning this is to show that the staff has taken great interest and has really gone above and beyond to make sure things work out for her. They have not pressured us into making any quick decisions. They really do care about their future residents. Mom has visited PL several times in an effort to make her comfortable and familiar with the facility, always being treated kindly and with great respect by all staff. We are currently working closely with case manager Laura Rutowski. Laura has been responsive, kind, professional, and all around great to deal with. She always goes above and beyond to answer questions and resolve any issues and concerns, including dealing with a few unhinged family members! The transition from home to assisted living is a very difficult one for the resident and family, particularly those closely involved in caretaking. Laura and the entire staff have offered invaluable advice on how to manage this big life change successfully and make the change a happy and rewarding next chapter. Aside from the amazing staff, the facility is immaculately clean and tastefully decorated in a beautiful and peaceful setting. Definitely a mixed bag here. Because I've seen so many negative reviews of this place, I feel…read morecompelled to review the positive - my relative has been here nearly 20 years. She requires an enormous amount of care and is a difficult personality. Other than a period when this place was run by a psycho named Tanya, the staff has learned how to treat my relative, is enormously patient with her, and has kept her healthy, alive, and well. Zero falls. Zero infections. They call me if they find even the tiniest scrape on her. This is NO small feat given how long she has been there, and through the pandemic no less. The downside is that there is very little communication and because turnover is so high just when I will get to know that one person handles one thing, that person is gone, and I've got no update as to whom I should now contact. Voice mails and emails normally go unanswered. There are supposed to be monthly case reviews however it's very sporadic and random. I'm also supposed to get quarterly statements about her money in her account but haven't received one in ages. I also don't think the residents are EVER taken anywhere. At all. The last trip I can remember was like 10 years ago. To a Walmart. But there are very nice grounds, and the rooms are large and comfortable. Like I say, mixed bag. Could probably do better and could definitely do worse.
