Delicious, authentic Lao food!!! It's somewhat of a hole in the wall and shares a wall with a Lao grocery store. I was very impressed with the food. My favorite thing was the mok pha - steamed catfish appetizer. It was in a carefully wrapped package of banana leaves and stuffed with dill, green onion, and what also tasted like lemon grass. SO FLAVORFUL with a light kick of spice. I thought it was a perfect appetizer. For the entree, I got a crispy pork belly kra pow. It had a hefty portion of pork belly that was fried to a satisfying crisp. The sauce was perfectly savory pairing nicely with the meat and bell peppers and onions, topped with a fried egg. Served with a side of white rice. Caution that their spice levels are on the strong side. I got medium spice and it was very spicy to my standards. I had to move some of the peppers off to the side to help subdue the spice flavor. I also got a thai tea which was strong, sweet, and creamy, so it was a nice relief from my spicy entree. We also got a thai papaya salad, which was still tart but had more of a fish saucey flavor and topped with dried shrimp. It was huge which was reflected in the price. Overall, super enjoyed my meal and would return!!

Was craving Lao papaya salad and wanted to check this place out. I added vermicelli noodles to the papaya salad. I got medium spice and it was slowly creeping up and got hella spicy. I also got the beef laab medium spice but it wasn't spicy at all. It was missing the heat. I'm use to ground beef but this was the steak version. It had plenty of tripe too. It was $23 which is pretty experience in my opinion. Also got a side of Lao sausage. It had strong lemongrass flavors which I love.

We forgot to take pictures. once the food hit our table, we were stuffing our face. The food is delicious and reminds me of home. The customer service is amazing. They are all super friendly and hospitable. It's like going to your aunties house and she just cooked up a bunch of bomb food. The place is cozy, it's connected to a Lao store, massage and nail parlor also. SD's hidden gem.

One of my favorite hole in the wall restaurants in San Diego is this Lao Restaurant. We celebrated a friend's graduation here and it's some of the most authentic Lao food I've had in a while. My cousins are Lao so I usually only get to have some during family parties but when I'm craving, this is the spot. It's located on Imperial & 47th in the Lao Community Market. Everyone is always so warm & welcoming. It feels like you're being served & fed by family. It's not the biggest space but even with a large group they do everything they can to accommodate & so what more can you ask for? Quick & impeccable service. They also have some Thai dishes which we've tried & love. 10/10 recommend Harborside Cuisine!

Came for the first time on a Saturday afternoon around 3pm. There is free parking in front or behind the building. I ordered the khao piak sen (delicious), sai oua, an iced coffee, and papaya salad. The khao piak sen was tasty and extremely filling. Sai oua was nice and flavorful. Pros: -tasty food -friendly staff -indoor seating is available -they have snacks that you can buy like lotus cookies Cons: -n/a

A must-have every time I am in San Diego. Prices have increased over the years, ownership changes but still amazing and consistent. Lao sausages were juicy and delicious, laab was very tasty (I got it w/ lime and raw, sooooo good and actually more flavorful when I reheated/cooked it to med rare), and papaya salad absolutely the best I've ever had. Bonus: grab a bag or two of pork skin!!! Perfect for the roadtrip back up to the bay. The parking lot is on a busy corner right off the freeway and can be tricky to get in and out of bc it's really small but definitely worth the work. Spacious and clean inside, super friendly and helpful staff. A 25 min drive from where I usually stay in SD but I went twice cause it's THAT good.

We were visiting our son that goes to school in La Jolla and he hadn't had Lao food for over a month so took him there. Everything was so delicious! The ladies working there were very friendly. Definitely hit the spot if you are craving for good Lao food.

Walking in the establishment isn't the most pretty restaurant but you can tell they care about the food. Authentic flavorful food it's really fresh and although it did take a moment for it come out. It tasted so delicious and fresh so I was not even that bothered by the wait time. There's a couple tables to sit down inside if you are not wanting to do take out.

    Yelp says pets allowed? Really?

Yes, pets must be on a leash.

Are you able to sit down and eat in the restaurant?

    Yes

What time do this business normally opens on the weekdays? I went in at 930am yesterday, stayed until 10:07am and it was still closed. I couldn't wait any longer so I left. I live far so it's hard to go back.

Their time varies, but I'd give them a call beforehand!

We were lucky and were able to grab the spot right out front. For drinks we each ordered a cocktail. It did take a bit for them to come out but once they did you can tell time and effort were put into making them. They were beautiful and all tasted great. We ordered 4 dishes to share, the wasabi scallop ceviche, crispy baby crab, braised beef panang, and crab fried rice. The ceviche was definitely one of my favorites. Super flavorful, fresh, with the perfect amount of wasabi. The crispy baby crab was savory and easy to eat, especially since you're eating the whole crab, shell and all. The curry in the braised beef panang was so addicting, I couldn't stop eating it. The crab fried rice was tasty and filling. For dessert we got the mango sticky rice. The mangoes were fresh and sweet. Overall pretty standard but still yummy. Service was friendly, helpful and attentive. All the food came out in the timely manner. The vibe of the restaurant is casual but can be a little dressy for a nice date. Overall I definitely recommend a try here. Beautiful presentation with all the food and drinks while still being delicious.

We got the Taro Fritters, Bangkok street noodles, pork sausage, and the chicken wings. The highlight of the dinner were the chicken wings!! They were so flavorful and crispy, I cannot recommend them enough. The taro fritters were a close second, the tamarind sauce was also a highlight of my dinner experience. Service was quick + amiable, and the inside of Sovereign was clean and inviting. The decor is dark and moody, with live plants throughout the establishment. Parking is metered & limited, but definitely worth the hassle.

When we ordered, our server took the time to explain their spice scale (1-5), letting us know that a 1 is already about a medium spice level. We settled on mostly 2-3, but wow--the Thum Khao Poon (shredded green papaya salad) still packed some serious heat! Even my spice-loving kids were challenged. The server also gave us a heads-up that it's very fish-forward in flavor, which we appreciated and happened to love. The absolute standout of the meal was the Nam Khao Tod. It was hands down the family favorite--crispy coconut rice with pork sausage, crunchy peanuts, fresh herbs, and so many incredible textures and flavors in every bite. We could have ordered a second plate! We also had the Drunken Noodles with chicken, which were slightly oily in the best possible way, making them extra rich and delicious. The Chef's Special Basil Stir Fry with Crispy Pork was another winner. Our server brought over a chili vinegar that elevated the crispy pork to a whole new level--it was so good drizzled over every bite. Great food, thoughtful service, and plenty of dishes we're already looking forward to trying next time. Can't wait to come back!

The plaza has horrible parking, and we had to aggressively fight for a parking space with another car before we could even walk in. Came here on a Saturday around 6 pm with 2 friends. == FOOD == We got a beef pad see ew, khao soi, and a pork rice. All the food was pretty good. I took off one star because it seemed like the pad see ew was smothered in white pepper. == SERVICE == Service was a bit slow, but we think it was because we were waiting for the rice to be cooked? However, the staff was polite, apologetic about the delay, and very attentive. She gave us free mango sticky rice. == AMBIANCE == Interior is very nice and there is bar seating too. The bathroom is also very clean. If you don't mind a slower-paced meal and a chaotic parking lot, the amazing Lao and Thai flavors are completely worth it!
