I was on my way towards a different restaurant in the area and drove by their sign and remembered it had been recommended by a friend, so we turned around and stopped by for some food, and let me tell you! I do not regret that decision at all!! The food was great and balanced! Very refreshing for these warm San Diego nights. We got the Glass Noodle Chicken salad, Shrimp Salad, and a dish whose name I don't remember... it was number 11 though. I will definitely be coming back to try the rest of their food!

Great food, real home style cooking highly recommend! There is some parking on the side and easy to find the shop. Food was definitely made with love.

Stop by while we were in town and it's such a Good spot for authentic Cambodian/Lao food. All the food we ordered hit the spot!

I've been praying for a Lao/Cambodian place to open up near my neighborhood so I was ecstatic to see that ThumSD is here now! I dropped by to order their Papaya Salad Lao style and oh my goodness... the best I have ever had!! The perfect amount of savoryness from the fish sauce and super limey which is how I love it, and lots of cherry tomatoes. The people taking my order were super nice and I love all the plants in the restaurant, it's a welcoming vibe. I'm excited to come back and try their other menu items, but I'm definitely hooked on their papaya salad...

When we ordered, our server took the time to explain their spice scale (1-5), letting us know that a 1 is already about a medium spice level. We settled on mostly 2-3, but wow--the Thum Khao Poon (shredded green papaya salad) still packed some serious heat! Even my spice-loving kids were challenged. The server also gave us a heads-up that it's very fish-forward in flavor, which we appreciated and happened to love. The absolute standout of the meal was the Nam Khao Tod. It was hands down the family favorite--crispy coconut rice with pork sausage, crunchy peanuts, fresh herbs, and so many incredible textures and flavors in every bite. We could have ordered a second plate! We also had the Drunken Noodles with chicken, which were slightly oily in the best possible way, making them extra rich and delicious. The Chef's Special Basil Stir Fry with Crispy Pork was another winner. Our server brought over a chili vinegar that elevated the crispy pork to a whole new level--it was so good drizzled over every bite. Great food, thoughtful service, and plenty of dishes we're already looking forward to trying next time. Can't wait to come back!

The plaza has horrible parking, and we had to aggressively fight for a parking space with another car before we could even walk in. Came here on a Saturday around 6 pm with 2 friends. == FOOD == We got a beef pad see ew, khao soi, and a pork rice. All the food was pretty good. I took off one star because it seemed like the pad see ew was smothered in white pepper. == SERVICE == Service was a bit slow, but we think it was because we were waiting for the rice to be cooked? However, the staff was polite, apologetic about the delay, and very attentive. She gave us free mango sticky rice. == AMBIANCE == Interior is very nice and there is bar seating too. The bathroom is also very clean. If you don't mind a slower-paced meal and a chaotic parking lot, the amazing Lao and Thai flavors are completely worth it!

What a lovely and delicious place!…read more To start with, my server was super delightful. I told her, Nery, what I was interested in, and she recommended the same dish that ChatGPT recommended! It was a Laotian beef salad of sorts-/ delish! It was so well balanced and refreshing on such a hot day. The flavors of lime, cilantro and mint permeated every bite. It was divine. I then beckoned the owner, Kerry, to come over. She was a bit anxious, not knowing what I was going to say. When I expressed my total joy in her food, she broke out in the largest smile that I ever saw. I added that the only way to improve the food would be to use higher quality ingredients, ie no seed oils, organic/grass fed proteins and organic vegetables. She pondered for a while and then gleefully said, " You know, I am literally writing a new menu now. I can certainly start by giving customers the option to have their stir fries made with avocado oil, for a slight up charge. I replied, "That's great". She then said that as time goes on, sh'e'll think about ways to offer other healthier versions of their dishes. What a great attitude. Well, I will certainly be back!

Don't sleep on this place as this might be San Diego's best kept secret for Lao and Thai food…read more I've been here a few times over the last year and the aunties have yet to disappoint. I always order the papaya salad (Lao style) and add vermicelli rice noodles. I have also tried their Khao Poon, Lao Sausages, Curry, and Larb dishes -- all were absolutely perfect as if I were really dining at an auntie's house. Flavors are authentic and dishes are prepared in a way to walk guests down the journey of Lao and Thai cooking. Make sure to not underestimate spice levels for the dishes. Them hot chilli peppers these aunties harvest are not be reckoned with. Bonus, this dine in restaurant is located directly next door to a mini market selling anything you need for cooking Southeast Asian cuisine -- so you can dine and grocery shop. Everyone wins. Their food is all pretty good here and they have a lot of stuff regular Lao restaurants don't have on hand such as a refrigerated section with cold foods such as dipping sauces, stews, soups. I was just so blown away at the prices here the last time I was here last week. I know it's been awhile and with inflation and all but dang the prices were kind of outrageous for a takeout hole in the way place. I don't really consider this a sit down restaurant. Their prices were far more expensive than a nice higher end sit down restaurant. I wouldn't mind if the portion made sense but it was $23 for beef larp and it came in a tiny small white container! They downgraded their portions significantly and raised prices significantly. Their refrigerated foods were pretty pricey as well for being in small containers. Don't get me wrong, their food is good but their upcharged prices don't sit too well with me.
