Times open and closed per Google Maps info, business title Harborside Oakland Dispensary, when the information was updated (one week ago)

I go to Harborside often. Today 06/17/26 I went to this location. Oakland Harborside, for the edible drinks. Checked the time they close (9:45pm GoogleMaps) before leaving home and got there around 9:29pm. I tried to open the door because it was closed; I believed it to be open, thinking they could have it closed because of how cold it was outside. (As I upload this to Yelp I realize Yelp shows a 9pm close vs Google Maps 9:45pm) I asked to speak to a manager because, the door was still closed, there were lights, and I could hear people/ inside. I spoke to one employee who then got a manager. Manager stated they close 9:30p, google maps isnt correct, etc etc. Per them, it was up to date as of a week ago. If you read this long, kuddos. Try Nug. Actually open until 945p. Great drinks. The manager I spoke to stated several times, "is that a threat", after I told him I'd be leaving a bad review over the experience I had. I didn't have to give him notice but did. He got weird/ mad about it. It made me feel uncomfortable. I told him I would be leaving since they were "closed". The employee was a witness the entire time and can attest to that.

I meant they loved my pup not pho! He's a frenchie and everyone wanted to pet him. One sales person went to the back to get him a treat. They have a solid selection of flower vapes edibles at a solid price. I support this business they have gotten me through a terrible medical crisis and the day to day stressors.

Pretty astonishing what a difference a bad bud tender can make! I've paid Harborside's high prices since 2015, for medical pot. I probably spent most of a stimulus check with them last year alone. I've given them Thousands of dollars in business since I began shopping there. Monday, 11/27/21, I had to put my 17yo cat to sleep. I needed some Indica badly after his grueling 90 day illness. I had $6.80 left in my pocket towards a $6.50 joint. No money until the Social insecurity check (which was under threat of Govt shutdown) In the past, the sales people say not to worry about the tax, and they hop over to the next cashier to grab a few quarters out of the free change dishes. This has happened two or three times since legalization. But not Monday, dead kitty day. The young man was surly and said he was utterly unable to help me. His nose lengthened noticeably when he peered down it to this poor old senior. So I'll be shopping at Main Street on Alameda from now on. read more

I purchased some clones at Harborside early this summer, my first visit to the shop in a couple of years. I'd had bad luck pre-ordering in the past and decided to take my chances with whatever they had on the shelves. I ended up getting the Motorhead and Animal Mints, neither of which disappointed--in particular, the Animal Mints flowers emerged thick, frosty, and absolutely beautiful--and they came from Dark Star, whose clones never disappoint. I'm so pleased Harborside is working with those guys again. The only blemish in my experience was that the young man ringing up purchases in the clone area spent at least 10 minutes messing around on his tablet while I stood there waiting to pay (there was nobody in front of me). He never even looked up or said, "Hang tight, I'll be right with you." Honestly, it felt very passive-aggressive. I think he wanted to make it clear who was in control and who was not. But I suppose his rudeness was a small price to pay for top-quality clones. I'll be back for more Dark Star DNA next year. read more

I was a loyal Harborside customer because of the quality, service, and convenience. I made an online pick up order for 1 item. I stood in line, found out my order was still processing. I wait another hour before leaving to grab lunch. Maybe it'll be processed by the time I'm finished. Nope. Nearly two hours later, my order was still processing. I gotta say. I am beyond exhausted with hs's inability to stick to a rewards program. It's changed at least 3 times. I've spoken to mike about this a couple times. He seemed more thn accommodating and courteous. he fixed my multiple accounts. Merged them. After this I couldn't even use them because there was no inventory to cash in. Stopped by yesterday... another new system to keep tabs on a brand new way. My point balance has been converted so many times it's ridiculous. I do know this is a perk. But what it's been is a pain in the ass. And a complete turnoff to a company I would rate 5 stars otherwise. Just drop your rewards program at this point. Because that alone is enough of an annoyance to lose business. read more

I like this place because it has the biggest selection of cannabis products of most any dispensary I've been. Specifically they usually carry products I like that are harder to find, like the Papa and Barkley cannabis balm for pain. Staff are also helpful if you have any questions about products. The prices can be a little high but that's mostly because of the taxes, so that's not the dispensaries' fault. read more

I used to really like this place. But I just walked in today, and saw that their space was essentially cleared of any inventory or display items. I guess this is their way of reducing shoplifting. When I asked about how to figure out what I wanted, the (rather brusque) reply I got was for me to look online. Um, if I wanted to shop online, I wouldn't have walked in the store in the first place. read more

Edit- Lewis was kind enough to reach out to me and help resolve my issue within hours of my visit. Leaving the main bulk of my original review up as a forewarning and heads' up- no returns/exchanges. Purchased 3 carts for delivery yesterday evening, right before closing, tried to return the next day when they opened. Only wanted to return one for an exchange, accidentally left something in my cart I didn't want. Unopen, sealed, original packaging and receipt. But they won't take it unless something is wrong with it. read more

Having chronic insomnia is not fun, you don't get a t-shirt or a trophy, but what you do get is more than a few days of nonsense that could be a distant memory if only a few winks and 6-7 hours of uninterrupted sleep. I've been to more than a few dispensaries and trying their offerings, most have an assortment to choose from and sometimes you might actually get advice that is worth taking, but at Harborside with outstanding help from people like Byron and Anjelika your answers will be factual accompanied by a smile and thank you. This goes a long way, especially when angels like Anjelika checks to see your buying habits and questions to make sure the products will be the best for what ever activity you have planned. Mine is always sleep. With a quick check and trip to back storage the right blend is delivered and guess what else... The accumulated points in my history will lower the bottom line and who doesn't like their bottom line lowered? For price, selection and knowledgeable service look no further. read more

I've purchased top shelf.... However, the quality this season is terrible. I haven't had any sticky batches yet. I really hope the quality gets better again. Maybe they need new merchants but the current ones aren't that great. And for those reasons I give you 3 stars. The service was good at the registers. I didn't really care for the door people. I was waiting in my car for pick up service, but since they took forever I went in myself. Was this Humbolts best? read more

The run has not been so great lately, so no more from this place. Don't be fooled by the discounts online and signs in store. My last two transactions with this place missed 20% off a $250 order and today despite having bogo for $1 for particular item that was clearly stocked, I was told that promo (detailed on a sign next to the product) was no more because of units - uhm what? Do I now work here, and need to understand the units limited for a promo?? I was offered a completely different product to sub which sort of doesn't matter since I didn't want flower.... If something changes, fine. But to present an option that doesn't align with my purchase as some kind of answer to false advertising rather then acknowledging their error is annoying. Also, their 'awards program' has never ever worked. It's a bad look overall, byeeeeee corp greed. read more

The new layout is TRASH and the online menu has COUNTLESS discrepancies, but you can't argue with their pre-order pickup option. Which has the usual mis-picked item or two. I'll give them that. Very unfortunate this staple changed and lost what it had going. =/ read more

Great service and amazing dispensary! They're always busy but if you know what you want then just stand in line. My favorite products from them are Jetty vape pen. Good cost and high % of THC. I've done both curbside and delivery and let me tell you, the employees that I have interacted with were some of the friendliest people I've ever dealt with. I needed CBD for my dogs for the 4th of July so I decided to head down to buy some but discovered that I could buy it online and then have them bring it to my parked car without having to go in. This was great since I am not a partaker myself and just want to get the dogs cbd and leave. When I got there, there was a nice man instructing people on what to do depending on whether they were there to pick up an order or to shop. It took them about 15 minutes to bring my order to the car and both employees were awesome. The guy who dropped off my CBD to my house, who I think was named Jason, was again super nice. They gave me an hour window in which he'd arrive. They texted to let me know he'd be at my house within 8 minutes and he was. He was super pleasant, wore a mask, took my money and then wished me a great day and left. I wish he could deliver everything always to my house. This is a pretty easy setup in my opinion. I'm not sure if they want people to steal now that all the merchandise is out on the floor or not? Whats funny is how helpful and knowledgable the people who work here are. They seem to literally come out of thin air, one after the other "can I help you?" lol What I like about this place (that I don't frequent much) is that anyone can answer almost everything about anything that deals with the products they carry. They also carry plants, seeds, and of course flowers for sale. I'm super happy that they now carry a larger array of boozey beverages and have some deals going on. This place is a bit pricey for locals but I would keep an eye out on their social media because they almost always have some sort of special going on. read more

No consistency in customer service. Just seems that no one is on the same page or even reading the same book anymore. Would really like to see the staff represent themselves as a team and provide transparent messages to customers. Curb side pickup needs to funnel with ease, currently it is far from that. I called spoke to Natalia 0 customer service I use to be a loyal customer, but they always seam to mess things up. I work for customer service and if I know us as a company did a mistake you fix it not just say sorry ma'm their is no grantee. So I waited 24 hours just for a rep to say sorry theirs no order would you like to place it! LOL she didn't care to help to investigate just gave her excuses, please go to another place that still cares about you bringing in tu our business and they care. I ordered two bottles of CBD tincture for delivery. Not cheap - $57 per bottle. They delivered two bottles of CBD tincture, but it was only later that I saw it was CBD:THC, not the straight CBD that I ordered. Tried to call, but could only get a fast busy signal. I then texted the number they used for delivery, but no response. Finally, I emailed through their website, still no response. Seems like they don't care once they've made the delivery. read more

I've been a loyal customer for Harborside, they have great selection with very reasonable prices. Unfortunatel, customer service has tanked, tremendously, I don't know it's because they become a Walmart if cannibus supply but it reflects their business practice poorly. last week I had a curbside pick u, waited close to 20 min., decided to go in to just get my item but door man asked me to wait I the car. Waited for another ten minutes and decided to leave. If they don't want my business I'm glad to spend it somewhere else. read more

Use of medical cards is no longer required and the costs are the same whether you had a medicinal card or just plain old ID. That's the one thing about this legal thing that is the loser

It's hard to find the stuff we like and what works for us so we come here, they have a large selection. Alondra helped me this morning. She was sweet and engaging with her customers. They had everything I needed and wanted except for one tincture (I'm assuming because it was cheap on sale). My whole family loves the C.A.D. brand and it's hard to find but they seem to always have several in stock. Alondra was friendly and quick in ringing me up (but not pushy to get me out the door even though the line was long behind us). We thought about partaking in a smoke sess in the back but decided we needed coffee, not wake and bake already. Cute outdoor area though, maybe next time.

It's never really been busy when I've walked in so I've been able to walk right up to the bud tender each time without having to wait. The selection is wide, but I don't look at all of that. Just what I need. Y'know how pulling money from the atm charges that extra fee? Hate that. I went to my bank's atm prior and pulled money but was a dollar short during happy hour. I was just gonna get something cheaper, no biggie, but the budtender ended up just giving me a dollar to get my stuff, and I think that was such a nice high life move. Much appreciated.

On the other hand, one of my high school classmates had a relative employed at Ivy Hill. After reading the person's review on another website, it was my time to leave. There was a change in ownership and things did not work out to the benefit of the employees who had been there for quite a while. Several of them left. In all fairness, I chose not to lower their rating to a one star, but to lower it to just okay (3 stars).

We initially didn't know there was free parking in a nearby parking structure until our friends told us, but luckily we found free street parking around the area for two hours. First impression walking in was how clean the whole place felt. I also liked that there were so many different vendors and cuisines for us all to choose from. Whether you're craving Korean Food, Japanese Food, Peruvian Food, American BBQ, Burgers, or pretty much anything else, you'll probably find something here. Honestly, a lot of the vendors caught my attention because what they offered looked really good. We also spotted a cashew based ice cream shop, which was perfect for dessert after our meal. I also liked how everything was indoors too, especially since it keeps people sheltered from the weather on hot days. Another thing I appreciated was the amount of tables and seating made available. It didn't feel stressful trying to find a place to sit, and we were here on a Sunday. As we walked through the market, I thought the layout was designed really well. The way everything was set up made the place feel a lot bigger and more spacious than it actually was. I thought that was pretty smart. I'd definitely come back to this public market again next time I'm in the area.

two points for your consideration, HHC (and both DeAngelo's): first, as a 3-yr. long customer of HHC, i KNOW the overall quality of product HAS indeed diminished/degraded. and, for $60, i am 'rewarded' for allegedly 'top shelf', which (as one of your former workers on camera TRUTHFULLY and ACCURATELY assessed as also being) is "FAR lower in quality lately". and HIS reward? left or got fired! second, andrew deduces (well, stream of babble is more like it; after all, management is STONED while 'conducting business', so, truly, WHAT does he actually KNOW?), states THE reason for the lowered revenue amt. was "customer service"...NOT that HHC's 'medicine' is WAAAAAAAY OVERPRICED!!! so, instead of doing what ANY first year business student WOULD know -- and that is, LOWER THE PRICE of the product to increase sales -- HE 'solves' this problem by playing some baseball to 'boost team morale'. uh-huh... HOW on earth HAVE you guys stayed in business this long, given the overall childish and embarrassingly naive comments made and LACK of successful business practices SO evident by such specious assessments? I agree with the comment shown on yelp on Weed Wars: "NO ONE should charge more than $50 for marijuana". I wholeheartedly agree! YOUR 'operational costs' DO NOT JUSTIFY SUCH OUTRAGEOUS PRICES!!! additionally, it is even MORE egregious when considering the HUGE amt. of revenue profit HHC generates annually -- and looks like a sure winner of the Inept Award and false premise contention misnomer -- when, by state law, you ARE supposed to be a 'non-profit'. hardly a non-profit with avg. annual revenues of an startling $2.5 million a year! and, andrew...about "customer service" being 'upgraded'... you STATE that IS your primary motivating factor...but, WHAT do you ACTUALLY 'do' or say -- on camera? that your employees ARE TO BE LESS HONEST AND TRUTHFUL with your customers (eg: NOT agreeing with them when they astutely say -- and the experienced budsters KNOW themselves -- and continue to mislead and misrepresent). i know of NO other DEmoralizing attitude to ENFORCE against employees, than to FORCE those employees to be LESS than totally honest. YOUR PRODUCT QUALITY OVERALL HAS GREATLY DIMINISHED -- and yet, STILL be charged 'top shelf' prices SO steep, no one else has the temerity to charge as much as you guys do. so....in order for a person with ANY sense of decency and honor (like that hapless employee who's name i've forgotten; but NOT his winning smile and helpful demeanor whenever he was my budster over the years) feel PUSHED into either lying outright, or, leave/be terminated. and you think by playing some softball...THIS is going to 'boost employee morale'? what have you been smoking...oh, wait!...THAT'S the problem right there. 1) with the realization that we ARE in tough economic times; AND, realizing to STAY in compliance with state law [being a NON-profit]; and the REALITY most ppl. nowadays -- especially 'patients' with TRUE health issues -- CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY OUTRAGEOUSLY BLOATED PRICES...LOWER THEM!!! "Top Shelf" SHOULD max out at $50. PERIOD! 2) work with your 'vendors' to start getting BACK the top shelf quality of product you USED to have. 3) IF you truly are trying to depict being "professional" -- ACT LIKE IT !!! there is NO business I know of that would so openly allow their employees to be under the influence of drugs -- and WITH not only the blessing of management; but the encouragement of management. the IRS will end up being the LEAST of HHC's problems. the people who KNOW they're being bilked -- either by poor product quality, and/or, outrageous overpriced product -- will 'vote with their wallet' and take their business elsewhere. I stopped in a week ago, first and foremost to receive warm hugs from staff/friends (HR compliant hugs, of course). Secondly, to see the new look and feel of the sales floor (all skate!). Lastly to buy some greenery. The line outside was a bit lengthy but I was unconcerned because of Paul's warm and friendly greeting as he meticulously looked over me and my documents (kind of like TSA but less nosiness n being grabby, so, actually nothing like TSA). Ken was standing vigilant at the front entrance and gave me a firm but friendly handshake before giving the green light for me to enter the dispensary. I was greeted by two lovely ladies at the front desk, Jasmine and Saysha (maybe I misspelled your name, sorry). Boom! Hugs, more, hugs. I got in line, but didn't mind the wait because I was enjoying talking to other patients. Enter Evan. A tall cup of Gatorade with a friendly vibe. He asked if I had seen the menu. I hadn't but knew what I wanted, a preroll (or so I thought). I also explained my real mission was collecting hugs. Without skipping a beat Evan offered a hug, I gladly accepted his generous offering. I did not know him previously, but I already like the cut of his jib. It was then that I noticed, there was an abundance of familiar faces working on the bar that day, which is rare nowadays having been frequenting this location for nearly 8 years or more. Both Michael S. and Ian B. came out from behind the bar for a warm embrace. Boom, more hugs, more eye contact, boom, boom, bang. Finally I was on deck "Who will call me up?" I thought. Boom, Dustin! One of the hardest working, most dedicated people in the building! Knowledge, on point! Smile, on point! This guy is good. No, great! I even noticed the people that didn't notice me because they were so engaged with and focused on their patient/customer, Thomas was lazer focused, well played. Alisha serving it up like a pro, TASAC! Jamarr getting it done, a warm friendly, fatherly vibe and one hell of a sweater. Boom, over counter embrace with Tripp, making the connection. Adrienne, serving up hugs, boom! Sofia, the rookie. I do not know her, but I could see the determination in her eyes as she helped new customers navigate this new world of legal ganja.... In all, I collected about 12 hugs and bought 1 gram of some gan-jay per Dustin and DeLeon's recommendation. DeLeon, solid guy, feeling the hair and irie vibes. It was a good visit, I enjoyed my herb. Win, win, win. Tell Paul the Nappapp will be back online. I love you, Harborside family. On an even more serious note... The vibes, hugs and familiar faces are why I still come back. To be honest, I can get cannabis elsewhere, often for much less money, but there is added value to the experience when people are kind, well-informed, patient and sincere. With every single yahoo in the world coming in it is not easy for staff. They are dealing with, on average (in my opinion) a less informed customer base versus when it was only medical use. Those patients were progressively better informed about cannabis and their individual health. I know what it is like dealing with the general public, what type of patience is necessary, so I commend the Harborside staff for dealing so well with all these changes and influx of cannabis-curious folks. I went to harborside for the first time this summer, and paid 96.00 for an 8th, and a gram of hash. It was not even close to worth it. The customer service was lacking, because every employee was stuck and stoned off of edibles. VERY unprofessional. I have gone back a few more times but it has not gotten any better. It's a shame that this was highly promoted by the legalization community, and then concluded with a lack of support for the same community who brought in a good deal of viewers. It's a shame that the same person who ONLY supports medical marijuana deals to thousands of people annually who are using it for nothing more than the "recreational purposes," using the medical term as a way to get high. Many people need medical marijuana, like my sister who suffers from MS, but so long as it remains "medical only" the patients (who really need it) must stand in long lines like in an Apple store to get their medicine waiting on someone who broke their pinky years earlier who doesn't know the difference between indica or sativa. There's a medicinal application for alcohol, even tobacco... but the majority of people who use these items are using it to relax or cut loose. If it needs to remain for medical purposes, it should be sold at a pharmacy like all other medicines. Though, so long as profit margins stay high, and the small guys getting beat out by commercial sized operations, there will always be the opponents to legalization. I would much rather see it sold legally with a tax to help the nation's economic problems and given to patients for a fraction of the cost (if not completely for free, considering it's a renewable resource). I wonder then if the dealers would think it should be for patients only if they couldn't profit as much, or if they'd join the legalization movement to continue their business? If they're willing to give to all patients for free, then I'd have a bit more faith. Sadly, people sell out, flip flop and unfairly treat those who have supported them for years. Also, this does nothing but divide the movement again, setting us back more and more as people abuse semantics, legal loopholes and patients (and users) in need. It would be awesome if the medical community could be real, because they're not doctors, they're not pharmacists, they're semi-prohibitionists of an exclusive club where people pay outrageous amounts for something that winds up in the black market just the same and gets shipped to places like Oklahoma. Also, I can guarantee Steve didn't start using for medicinal purposes, simply... it wasn't around at the time. Get real Mr. D'Angelo. This quote comes directly from HHC's site: "At 16 years old he dropped out of school to join the Yippies, and was the key organizer of the annual July 4th marijuana Smoke-Ins in front of the White House." This doesn't really sound like support for medical marijuana as much as "recreational use." I will no longer be in support of Harborside, will recommend other facilities and will not give a single ounce of help until Steve changes his hypocritical opinion regarding legalization. I stand alongside many smokers and countless organizations who will now see the truth for what Harborside stands for. It's not wellness, because they wouldn't charge so much. Steve bloom said it best!!!!- "I'm disappointed in Steve DeAngelo, who stated at the end of the fourth and final episode of Weed Wars: "I don't believe in legalizing cannabis for recreational use." DeAngelo (left) is the star of Weed Wars, which Discovery has been accused of stealing. Even worse in my mind is his (and his brother Andrew's) blatant hypocrisy. Years before they started Harborside Health Center in Oakland, DeAngelo was a marijuana activist/pot dealer in Washington, DC. In fact, he was arrested for possession shortly before he left DC for the West Coast. I wouldn't dredge this up if DeAngelo (or Stevie D as he's know in cannabis circles) wasn't such a turncoat. He's made millions selling pot to medical patients in California. His mantra is "cannabis should be used for purposes of wellness." Nice spin. Now let's get back to reality. Just last year DeAngelo proposed a legalization initiative for California. When Richard Lee beat him to it with Prop 19, DeAngelo pulled back and said he'd wait for 2012. Now it appears that he's not in favor of taxing and regulating marijuana for all uses any longer. To his credit, DeAngelo and his then partner Eric Steenstra founded the hemp clothing line Ecolution in the mid-'90s. Unfortunately, business didn't go well and they soon closed up shop. After his arrest and the subsequent dismissal of the case, DeAngelo made his move, opening the uber-slick "WalMart of pot" in Oakland. He aimed to blow away the competition and to some extent has, raking in $20 million dollars in 2010. I was excited about Weed Wars. Why not a reality TV show that focuses on the inner workings of a major medical-marijuana dispensary? Allegedly, a producer named Kylie Krabbe pitched the idea to Discovery in 2010. She lined up The Farmacy, based in Los Angeles, as the featured dispensary. According to her complaint, Discovery thought the concept was "too edgy" for them and rejected her proposal. Then, lo and behold, Discovery inked a deal with Harborside instead. If that's true, it's really sleazy. During their rounds to promote Weed Wars, Andrew DeAngelo, who has glaucoma, told Bill O'Reilly, "We do not support the legalization of cannabis for recreational purposes." I winced when I heard that, but figured it was just his opinion. Then, as the show's brief season came to a close, Steve parroted his brother. That's the same stance taken by Montel Williams, who was booed at the NORML Conference DeAngelo speaks at during Episode 4. It's sad to see someone who hails himself as "an agent of change to bring the truth about the cannabis plant to the rest of the world" take such a giant step backwards. Weed Wars certainly serves an important purpose - to reach beyond the converted, to the heart of mainstream America, with a message of medicinal use. But the series proved to be a DeAngelo family vanity project. Now we know Steve DeAngelo has a closet filled with colorful suits, hats and ties. We also know that he's officially turned his back on the cause he's championed for "almost 40 years." If Steve DeAngelo's old compatriot Jack Herer were still alive he'd call him a lot worse names. I have worked in the cannabis industry in Santa Cruz & surrounding areas for over 1.5 yrs and have been a medical patient for even longer, and this is by far the worst dispensary i have EVER been to. Keep in mind i have been to many dispensaries in the bay area. Harborside Oakland, your customer service is in the toilet, your employees are rude and have a know it all attitude, but can't seem to help educate customers despite this. Not to mention your products are way overpriced. My last and final experience at Harborside was in December, 2017 to get some edibles. After waiting outside in line for about 10 minutes, I was let inside the building and Immediately i was greeted by a receptionist. Before asking me for my information or even saying hello, she promptly told me that it was "adults only" (meaning 21 and up) after the 1st of January, even if you have a medical recommendation. I had always thought Harborside was the place to be for medical patients. Apparently not, as they are so blatantly shoving us aside. The receptionist basically called me a child. I am a 20 year old medical marijuana patient, "adult" enough to go to war for my country and die, but not "adult" enough to go to Harborside and purchase MEDICINE for my MEDICAL NEEDS. I was appalled at the poor choice of words by this Harborside employee. I've been coming to Harborside for 2 years and have sent so many people to their facility in the past. I have never been treated so badly at any dispensary in my life. But, I brushed it off and got in line to purchase, because i was out of medicine and needed edibles. I waited probably 45 minutes-1 hour in line. My budtender was Ian, a bald caucasian man with a large beard. I asked him for a cbd topical of any kind, not knowing what was left in stock due to the place being extremely packed and busy. He snarkily proceeded to tell me that i should've gone to the "consultation" line if i didn't know what i wanted, completely not hearing me or what i was asking. He said i needed to "be more specific than that". I've never had this issue at any dispensary, not once. Budtenders are supposed to be bubbly, accommodating, intelligent individuals. Ian made me feel like I was being talked down to, like I didn't know anything. It left a bad taste in my mouth. I will never be returning to Harborside Oakland, and neither will any of my friends or family. I will also never be recommending them to anyone in the industry ever again. Forget this place. They've changed. They don't give a sh*t about medical patients, they have pushed us aside and gone into it for the sole purpose of money and greed. People, if you have never been to Harborside, quit writing reviews. Watching "Weed Wars" does not give you the right to post a review of a place you've never been to. It totally undermines the review process that makes Yelp so useful! While I'm on the subject of the "Weed Wars" show, It's about getting the message out on a national level. Medical Cannabis will never be truly accepted until those against it can see the real and amazing benefits it provides. Harborside is participating in this show at a great risk and I applaud them for having the guts to do what's right. Now for the review. Consistency is what makes a business worthy of a 5 star rating. While Harborside may not be custom tailored to a specific individuals personal taste, they have done the absolute best at creating a consistently outstanding experience for the masses. They understand that they must serve people from vastly different financial backgrounds and provide medicine to suit everyone's needs. When I look at the averages, they also provide the most consistent level of professional customer service of any bay area medical cannabis provider. Trust me, I think I've probably visited at least 80 percent of the dispensaries in the bay area over the years! I would also like to address the issue of cost. Put simply, you get what you pay for. Your donation covers far more than just the medicine you just left with. If 60 dollars for a top shelf 8th seems a bit steep, please consider that you are also paying for peace of mind. It is beyond important to know that your medicine is clean, pure and does not contain contaminants that may adversely effect your health. I'd pay even more to be assured that I'm not ingesting bug poo, mold or heavy metals from chemical fertilizers. Luckily, I don't have to pay more. The fact that a portion of my donation covers lab testing is beyond important. Please understand that your donation also covers the upkeep on their beautiful facility and allows Harborside to attract and retain the very best staff the industry has to offer. In conclusion, please look beyond yourself and grasp the bigger picture. I used to be a self serving jackass who didn't give a flippin fart about anything beyond my own personal needs. I suspect there are old yelp reviews of mine that reflect that mentality. I've paid off a ton of karma over the last couple of years and finally realize that it's always about the greater good. Harborside embraces this and it's been a pleasure to be their customer. It makes me feel like I'm a part of something far, far greater than myself. Dear Harborside associates and management; I am sort of 'behind the times' in being able to watch your tv reality program on Netflix. One part which raised a concern for me was the episode where you were having issues with the city tax as well as the IRS tax; in addition to the issue with your YELP site seemingly going down in ratings as well as customer service providers. I listened carefully to your concerns and thought to myself, the timing on the matter of your YELP reviews seems a bit 'staged'. Staged maybe a poor word of choice. I think you might consider looking at those reviews and compare those reviews to the timing on when the city and IRS tax issues started to come up. Often times I have heard of 'smear' campaigns going on with issues such as this. Where advocates opposed to legalization of marijuana as a medical use program gather up their people and have them go onto any website where they can write a review and 'smear' their company from customer service to quality of products. I am in retail sales. I am still watching your show currently on Netflix and have yet to even see a hint of poor service. I can not vouch for quality of product. However, I can vouch for the fact that your people are very knowledgeable about the products, as well as testing of the products and quality control issues with the products. The mere fact that you actually check out your products under the critical eye of those who check for quality in your products is evidence enough for any person to know that your product does not seem to be poor. Even though I have never been in a position to try your products. I think the reviews which were written suggesting poor in the various departments needs to be reconsidered as part of a anti-marijuana smear campaign. The timing just seems a little 'dark' masterminded attempt at spreading the word of a company that really does good for others in need of your services. Keep up the good work. i have two questions 1. why are you still open? all over the state collectives are getting shut down operating the same as you are. most doing a better job then you guys could ever do. i started coming to your business the first year you opened and i was impressed. until i seen other clubs doing much more. there quality of meds are better and the prices are fair for us that can not afford high prices. 18 or 20 a gram is crazy especially for the quality that you guys are selling. you dont even have a compassion program for the sick that can not afford the meds they need. we had a great dispensary here but the feds closed them down for absurd reasons only because our sheriff was on a witch hunt. maybe you should try conducting yourselves like mr reed does a the green cross. i live in the central valley and come to sf twice a month and when i do i purchase enough to get me through to the next trip. so its not like im picking up a gram or two. you have gone down hill and i would bet your not done on that same path. bottom line is your just like most businesses, start off with a bang and seem to care about the community they are in and provide a good service. but that has diminished and long gone 2. what is the point of weed wars? that is a complete utter joke. that show does nothing for the support of medical cannabis. quite the opposite to be honest. nobody cares about your internal problems and the poor me bull that you try and portray. hell steve cant even go to court with out getting medicated. to eat two of the on the rise brownies was so irresponsible and childish. and to top it off , the drive to court high like that didnt do anything but show YOUR JUST AS STONER. i could go on and on but wont. i think i made my point and im not really ready to get myself all riled up at the moment. im happy to post my email address here which i see most dont but i will. i have nothing to hide. centralvalleykevin@hotmail.com read more

Being mature enough to recall when purchasing weed meant a small MATCHBOX which was standard size, Selection? = Pretty much NON-EXISTENT for a 12 yr. old whose connection was my 3 yrs.-older-sister's crowd who "adopted" me as her "cool-little-bro-Roy" AS WELL AS just about 98% of the general public who did partake of cannabis at the time ('67+/-) got the same sized little container with YELLOW Zig-Zags. Back then it was to be cool and to get high. NOW IT IS FOR CHRONIC PAIN and other health concerns! Sure, a buzz is always nice, but hell NEEDING IT MEDICALLY, IS ANOTHER HEAD SPACE ENTIRELY. TRUST ME ON THAT ONE! Flash to current times and va-voom - NOW, HARBORSIDE HEALTH CENTER is the BAR I believe all other dispensaries should look to for their BASIC operational standards to shine as well as, in MY opinion. I always have been treated with compassion, kindness, as well as offers to be further educated on medical marijuana. The free classes with information, many other healthful & helpful informative tips on everything from cleaning and storage to symptoms and suggested strains. I will be sharing more as I learn but joining and visiting a branch of Harborside Health Center of course, is HIGHLY suggested for all. I cannot wait until the already pending San Leandro branch(es)are up and running.. Thanks again Harborside! Let me First say that this business has great potential, but with the current management staff they have they are bound to fail. The 60% of society that is misinformed and lead to believe by the government that Medical Marijuana is a horrible gateway drug that only make's people stupid, lazy and all around cause's loss of intelligence. They need some people to work and develop this business for the movement that aren't staying medicated all the time, and looking like a stereotypical stoner that get's this movement all the bad press that isn't needed to move forward with progress of educating the public the right way.. (1) Lil Stevie stealing and selling the weed to himself for hydrocodone... That put's the whole gateway drug argument into the mix, (something the movement doesn't need) because I promise pharmaceutical company's DON"T WANT WEED LEGAL BECAUSE IT WILL HURT THERE BUSINESS....... (2) The management staff stay's medicated all day everyday openly on camera with little thought of how the 60% of society we are trying to convince freedom of choice and medical benefit's.. This does not project's the proper way to conduct a Professional Business. If anything This show is hurting the movement for other state's trying to get some sort of medical tolerance put in place, It's really a shame that Steve D'angelo hasn't surrounded himself with the right people for the job... Believe me there are people out there like myself that are educated and ready to support the whole movement that do not medicate daily but have before and know the scientific benefit's. Please for the benefit of trying to get society to accept this treatment as a real solution STOP this crap drama with the show... The product is good but the people and service sucks. They have a high turnover of personnel and it seems to me that they keep the lazy, ignorant and whiney people and get rid of all the hard workers who really know what they are doing and actually care about their job and the patients that go there. One lady hasn't a clue about cannabis and yet she's on the floor as a sales person and spends more time either acting put-upon that she actually has to wait on people or she's flirting with her girlfriend. Their reservation service is the worst. You cannot complete the reserve and pay on-line transaction because the system never actually lets you complete the purchase. Then, I have tried to reserve over the phone and, despite being assured that they are setting aside the product I requested, on NUMEROUS occasions they, in fact, did not set aside my purchase request and then they are either out of that specific product or, instead of getting the two ounces that was supposed to be set aside, they go back and put together numerous eight once bags of crumbs instead. I reserve because I travel a fair distance to get my medicine and there is nothing more annoying than arriving and being told, "oops, didn't really set that aside for you and we don't have any left so what else do you want" -- like any type of cannabis will do for any reason or ailment. This just happened to me the other day and, when I complained, I got the old shoulder shrug like it's not their problem and, I guess, that's true because it is not them now suffering from extreme pain because they didn't reserve my medicine like they said they would. Have started to buy the majority of my medicine from another provider and am much, much happier. They, at least, seem to care. read more

Besides having multiple issues with phone orders for pick up, the worse yet was the Parking Nazi who thinks he is Tony Soprano and/or God's gift. I've been there several times prior. I parked and he let me get all the way to the door, checked my id, and then told me "is that your car? you can't park there" and pointed to an area where there were NO vacant parking spots. So, I said, can I park there? (I pointed to a spot about 20 feet from where we were standing. He says yeah. So I park there (it is parallel). AFTER I get out of my car, walk all the way back up to him, he says, you can't park that direction, you need to turn the car around. Short story: I moved my car 3 times and then when I came up to the door, he wanted to check my ID again and he did, and he then said, why don't you know how to park here? I just gave him a withering look. I mean, really? You are here because you don't feel good, hence "medical marijuana", right? Not so you can get chewed out by some D.H. who thinks he's a member of the Sopranos. He then says, oh you got an attitude, and followed me inside, and YELLED "Watch out for this one". OK, I am a sr. citizen, 5-ft nothing tall and thin. Watch out for what? Their BS policy about "be nice to others" -- I guess that stops in the parking lot, no wait...It came through the door. If I didn't have a $200 credit at this place, I would have turned around and never came back. Go to one of the other dispensaries. It isn't worth driving through all the construction and traffic jams to get to this one. read more

What a horrible place. I went today to shop there. I was dusk and raining steadily. I could not see the entrance or exist arrows in the rain and I mistakenly went in the EXIT. There were no cars exiting and no harm was done. When I parked, a black security guard walked over to my vehicle and began shouting and demeaning me about entering the exit. I explained that is because of the poor visibility that I made a driving mistake. He continued to disrespect me. I am disabled and have a heart condition. The stress to my heath this security guard unnecessarily caused me was significant. This horrible black security guard just kept on after I exited my vehicle was and proceeding toward the entrance. All of the other security guards, in lock step, told me I could not enter the building because they did not like me. I have been a customer of this business for months and asked to speak to a manager to address the hateful and malicious behavior of the security guards. A sales clerk came out and did nothing. In fact, she supported the ill mannered, ghetto-behavior of all the security guards. In my opinion, Harborside employees are nothing more than "marijuana Nazis" that think their heavy-handed bullying of disabled persons who have a different political point-of-view is totally OK. It is further my opinion that Harborside is employing security guards with a "gangster" mentality. Harborside prices are not competitive. It is my opinion that this business should be investigated by the State of California. read more

Harborside Health Center is the ONLY place I go for my medicine. Their whole operation is impressive. It's very secure and professional and you don't feel like you're doing shady business. In order to be a patient here, you have to register and get a little tour of the whole center. It's like a little orientation for first timers. On your return visits, you just show them your ID's and they check you in and you wait in line. The way it's set up here reminds me of a bank, except instead of withdrawing money, you get marijuana. They have about 8-10 bud-tenders, each with their own station and case full of goodies. I've been going here for a few months and each visit is always pleasant. Yeah, there's a long line on weekends and the prices are a little bit higher, but you are paying for quality. All of their strains have been tested for THC percentages and the staff is very knowledgeable about the goods they are selling. Don't be nervous, ask questions if you are not sure what you are purchasing. Their selection is impressive. They have low grades to high grades, depending on your needs and your budget. All kinds of edibles, hash and tinctures. They also sell clones, but I don't know much about that. They have a frequent buyer card and for every $12 bucks you spend, you get a punch. 26 punches will get you a free gram ($17). Pretty sweet deal! They also give out free stuff sometimes. I've gotten free cookies and lozenges. If you are looking for a professional dispensary, go here now!!! read more

Look, let me tell you first of all that I am a physician who has been working for the last 6 months in alternative medicine because I am an Internist disappointed with the side effects many of my patients have suffered because of what we physicians deem "mainstream" medications. I am the happiest I have been in years, working now in outpatient clinics and recommending medical marijuana. I went to Harborside just to try it out, because it had been so highly recommended. I will absolutely be back, and I live in the South Bay! It is such a blessing to the medical cannabis movement that we have Harborside, and the encouragement towards activism is awesome! As far as the top shelf prices... really, have you looked at similar medication that you would be taking if you did not have cannabis? MUCH MUCH more expensive than this, and given the fact you can vaporize the medication and obtain up to 92% of THC/CBD/CBN from the plant, why WOULDN'T you go here? I encourage everyone to visit this dispensary which is basically the "Costco of Dispensaries" (not Wal-Mart which would bring visions of very cheap, easily breakable stuff) which allows affordable luxury. This is by far the gold standard to which other dispensaries must be judged. Period. I couldn't stop smiling the entire time I was there... this coming from a doctor who went to school in Texas and finally saw the light and moved to California.... read more

Let me start by saying this is my 2nd review on Yelp but I thought I should share my experience with Harbor Side because I was reading some of the reviews because I asked one of the security guards why some of them were wearing long sleve shirts on a very hot day. He said they had to cover up there tatoos because of a bad Yelp review, thats why I started reading the reviews. Well I'm not a customer at Harbor Side but I have been taking my husband there for a little over a year and I have never seen any of the bad things people are writing and nether has my husband. we drive from Sacramento 2 or 3 times a month because my husband can't get what he needs here and he is always very happy. i can't go in so most of the time I sit on a bench with my dog and wait all the people I see coming out seem very happy. The employees are very nice and respectful, everything is clean and we feel safe going there. i think some of the reviewers are just angry about something that may have happened just 1 time and some are just out of line like complaining because they can't go in without a ID or prescription from their doctor or an employee was rude to them and some of the ones that tell you to go to some other clinic seem fishy to me. My husband and me think Harbor Side is the best we have been too. If they could get a sixth star I know my husband would give it to them, great people and great place. read more

We flirted back and forth for a couple of months and not once did she ( aasha ) mention the company policy regarding this matter. Instead, like girls do, she would batt her eylashes, wave her fingers at me, flirt with me, say things like, " I'm looking for that special someone " then give me her phone number. ( 510 ) xxx 7791 I was bombarded with personal questions every time we spoke to eachother. Looking back I now realize that aasha lost interest in me AFTER I mentioned my age. Shortly after that, I was banned to avoid getting her in any trouble. I wasn't even allowed to pick up my " care package " I spoke with " dani " and she reinstated my delivery service. Now my care package that, was supposed to be free would cost me $ 100 minimum purchase plus tax each week. Thanks but no thanks. If you catch a child reaching into a cookie jar and ask what they're doing, can you expect an honest answer? ?Of course not. I travel far and pass many clubs just to go to harborside in Oakland..while standing in line I couldn't find my credit card so I start looking threw all my pockets.. While I'm in line stressing out a employee tell me to stop texting..HAHA so I say "I'm not texting, no photos" so she decided to tell the security, so while I'm still looking for my card the security guard comes up to me and says "hey I know she told you to stop texting and taking photos so please dont" and I try to tell him I'm not interested in texting or photos, that I'm simply looking for my card and to spend money, he starts to interrupt me and tell me I'm lieing..i then tell him my hands where in my pocket the whole time, NOTHING CAME OUT OF MY POCKETS, EVEN IF I WAS TEXTING MY PHOTO WASN'T OUT NO ONE COULD OF SEEN MY SMALL PHONE IN MY DEEP POCKETS.
