Today on the other hand, it was terrible. I'm in the atm drive-thru and I have one payment left to make on a loan with a shared/partner credit union. A representative appears on camera and I inform him that I was told I could make my final payment here to close out the loan. He says I can't close the loan here, but I could only make the payment. I was fine with that as I was planning to call the primary credit union after making the last payment. He tells me to hold on please. I then wait about 5-10 minutes until another representative asks if they could help me. I tell her that I was told to wait and that I wanted to make a payment on a loan. Then someone else (maybe a manager) chimes in and says aggressively "you were told we can't close out the loan, only make the payment." I said I'm fine with that, I just want to make the payment because it's my last payment. She rolls her eyes (on camera) and says "you can't close out the loan!" "You can only make payments!" I tell her that's all I want to do but I was told to hang on and have been waiting for 10 minutes. What do I need to do to make the payment. The second representative says they need my information. I said I have the information and as I proceed to tell her the number she switches over to another customer. She comes back about 5 minutes later and says sir you need to provide your information. I told her that I tried but she cut me off. She then says they can't just accept the information via voice, and I need to write the account information down and provide my ID through the payment tube. I told her she never said any of that before. I'd never made payments this way. How are customers supposed to know what the process is if nothing is said? I provided the information on paper but forgot to include my debit card. The supposed manager comes on camera and asks how is she suppose to process the payment? I said sorry, I forgot to include the card. She said oh my goodness! Next time put it altogether! After a few minutes she comes back and says my card was declined. I said ok and got my items back. Before I leave I hear an elderly customer asking a representative about making a payment. She was treated like she should know how all the payment processes worked. I left after that! I have never written a bad review before but this was ridiculous! And on a military base too. That last representative was probably having a bad day, but that doesn't mean you treat people like that.

    I am a member of long standing, and keep 60-100k regularly on deposit…read more I've had their VISA for decades and have had no issue but for this. I pay my monthly credit card bills directly from my checking account, and usually time the payment several days prior to the due date. Most recently, I had a typo on the payment date, and missed the due date ... no big deal, the next statement came, I learned of the mistake, they hit me with a penalty and I deserved it. I immediately issued an online payment order to pay-off the balance, since the interest accruing was substantial. What they didn't tell me was the the card was now frozen. I use the card to auto-pay my internet service vender, and for retail purchases. The internet service vender told me the monthly auto-pay was rejected, threatened to shut my account, and charged me a penalty. It didn't stop there. I called cardmember services trying to find out what was happening and was spun endlessly on their AI unmerry-go-round. When I called their local office, they said they would refer me to the credit card desk, and next thing I know, I was back at cardmember services. After several hours wasted on this, I finally got a voice at Elan card services, who politely told me the account was frozen and would remain so until brought to current. Seriously, any look at my record and membership history would make clear that I deserved a least a notice that my card was being frozen so that other inconveniences would have been avoided or minimized.

Nothing has been done, I get switched around over and over. Harborstone will tell me it's the fraud department, fraud department says it's the dispute department, dispute department says it's Harborstone that needs to issue the refund. Talked to a guy today who said card member services should be able to issue a refund, i called them and they transferred me around to multiple people. After this by the third person and two calls dropped I was told I needed to call harborstone for the provisional credit. Called them they stated they couldn't do anything and that it was the fraud department for card member services, I was transferred again and told I needed to tell them " I have disputed this before haven't heard updated status. Looking to receive provisional credit because of the merchant not working with me to provide monetary resolve". I did that once I called in they stated it wasn't their department because there was no fraud. I have been transferred not to the dispute department for card me ever services I am basically getting sent over and over in circles and no one is helping me, just constantly transferring. I have been dealing with this my entire Monday and still not an answer from anyone. Also card mem ever services hangs up on me, I had one card member services woman tell me the fraud department didn't have a phone number and they only had an email and fax. When I asked to speak with someone else she said have a great day then she hung up on me. After all of this a woman named Rebecca gets on the phone with me tells me she would have to write in a ticket to get things going from the Harborstone fraud department. She is extremely condescending. Tells me that she isn't even sure if they will give me one because harborstone doesn't give out money for disputes often. I asked her if harborstone ever had given a provisional credit before on a dispute. Of course she said yes. So why am I not being issued one? I believe because I worked for this company they are being prejudice and will not help me, or offer any solutions. I have tried many times to get a loan or credit cards for this company and have always been denied. They do not offer me anything but stress and unresolved issues. I would never recommend this crap union to Anyone.

    Motorcycle Financing was an absolute pleasure with Harborstone. You can't go wrong with great…read morerates, easy terms and friendly service. I purchased a motorcycle out of state and they took care of handling the taxes and licensing. If you need assistance in refinancing or getting a new vehicle with competitive rates I don't think you'll find a better place. I even tried BECU (my credit union) and they encourage me not to go with them. (Not what I expected). Stephanie Hood and her team located a local branch and arranged a fast and easy experience for me and my wife. We got to the credit union, opened an account right on the spot and signed all the docs in a fast and professional manner. The process, I went down to a place in Oregon for a 2011 Victory Cross Roads that I purchased by credit card (points ) came up with a 30 day trip permit and went shopping for the best rate. I come to find out that car loans and motorcycle rates are the same at Harborstone and I couldn't pass that up. I called in and within 1 day I got an approval pending membership. Since the title was coming from Oregon I simply took it in and they did the rest. That simple. Moving my bank accounts (goodbye Chase, it's not Washington Mutual) is our next thing to do. I look forward to working with Harborstone for a very long time.

I don't know if it's a staffing problem, or if this company just looks for incompetent employees, but none of their branches seem to function properly.

    Zero stars option? Maybe negative stars. Tellers were less than welcoming. When I said I was on a…read moretime limit I was told that I should make an appointment. There wasn't one customer in the lobby. You could hear crickets. Someone that looked like the manager couldn't be bothered to even look up when I objected to coming back. So then I decided to move forward. Practically had to beg them. Mind you I had planned on opening 2 accounts and getting at least one Cc. So then the teller tells me the system can't authenticate me. So weird that recently another institution was throwing credit at me. He asked for a piece of mail to prove I'm me. After Ben the worst teller scanned my drivers license which wasn't enough apparently. So I show him a piece of mail and he made a face and said that wasn't adequate that I would need a utility bill. I said no was and prepared to leave. Too many hoops. He made some other snide comments and was making so many weird faces I thought he may be having a cardiac event. A stroke? An aneurysm? At any rate you should run the cameras back. Maybe this is a place that doesn't want BIPOC business? Is that the reason for the disparate treatment? Anyways I will avoid this place like the plague and maybe make a few calls...since I am in the industry I certainly know who to call!     I've had a really great experience with this credit union, and I have used them for two car loans…read more My truck was totaled and the gap insurance, Safe-Guard Gap, is dragging their feet on covering the gap(will never use them again), but my payment with Harborstone is due and I walked in and the manager, Dennis, was very helpful. He informed me of what will be happening with this loan, and he made me feel much better about not being able to cover my loan and told me that he will note my account so I don't get collector calls because of my situation. I have had great experiences both in person and over the phone and I would definitely recommend them to my friends.
