I had a weird appointment with this doctor. He spent literally 20 minutes telling me about the importance of flossing. It was helpful, I appreciate that and I learned a lot. But then when he provided a cleaning he gave me the most rushed and rough cleaning I have ever gotten and I go to the dentist every year. I was literally covered in blood at the end. I asked the dentist to stop multiple times because it was far too painful. He simply said, if you floss then we don't need to do this cleaning. Absolutely terrible bedside manners and the worst cleaning I've ever had. This doctor also makes you sign an arbitration agreement - which is super shady. The doctor and all the staff are super friendly and helpful! They walked me through all my options and my insurance coverage (my first dental exam on new insurance so this was much appreciated) and the doctor seemed genuinely concerned with helping me understand everything. Very efficient, I was able to get old fillings corrected immediately after my exam and the doctor even fixed a minor cosmetic deficiency he noticed with my smile then and there for free. My son's teeth were killing him and we quickly realized it was his wisdom teeth coming in. It was so bad that he didn't even want to eat his birthday cake or open presents that day. Thats when we knew it was serious. I took him to an oral surgeon who told me he had to have all 4 teeth removed, under general anesthesia for an hour. I have delta dental DPO and it was still going to cost me 1500 dollars, yeah right... My son didn't want to have general anesthesia so we said thanks but no thanks. Luckily, the pain seemed to subside for a day or two. A few days later his teeth began to hurt again... I called 6 dentists to see who could see him as I felt I really needed a second opinion. The 7th call did the trick and the person who answered the phone was kind, understanding and most importantly really heard me when I said my son was in pain. She didn't respond with, "we can see him maybe in a month" like a few others did. She listened attentively and put me on hold. She returned a few min later saying they could work him in at 2pm. I made this call at 10:15am. That's quick! The office was easy to find, they have the good x ray machine and everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming. Now lets talk about Dr. Ngo. Dr. Ngo is hands down the very best dentist I have ever laid eyes on. I mean the best, like top .05 percent in his field. He took the time to explain to my son and I with a model the importance of flossing, how we get cavities, and really tried to help my 17 year old kid understand that taking care of his teeth is important. He is legit. He recommended my sons 3 wisdom teeth be removed and said the other one hadn't even come through yet. He did not pressure us. He gave my son and I time to talk about what my son wanted to do. My son had a similar impression of Dr. Ngo and was comfortable letting him work on his teeth. With my insurance it was no cost to us. Read that again; 3 wisdom teeth; not 4. NO COST TO US. Now here comes the good part, we agree to have the wisdom teeth pulled and he said he could do it today. All we had to do was wait a little bit. OK. We waited like 5 min and than they started numbing up my son and he was out of that chair with all three wisdom teeth pulled in literally less than 45 minutes. I think it was actually 35 to be honest. They are next door to Ralphs so I had taken the time I would have spent in the waiting room to run over and get my son some apple sauce and soup. Before I was able to get in line, my son text me saying he was ready. Impressive! I highly recommend Dr. Ngo because he is honest, friendly and his office staff including his dental assistants all went out of their way to make my son comfortable. At one point I had stepped out and the dental assistant was teaching him how to use the prongs thing that sucks up spit. Who does that???? These guys are the real deal. I will be back to see him myself. My only trepidation is that when I return he will realize I haven't been flossing as much as I should! LOL. We shall see! read more

Truly one of the best dentists that I have ever seen. The entire office staff and back staff is so nice and you really feel welcome and comfortable when at an appointment. I finally found MY best dental office!! As I arrived Sarah welcomed me with her smile and by name, an absolute sweetheart. I then was sat right in a very nice room and Yasmin came in to take my Xrays. Wow, such a sweet manner as she made me feel very comfortable talking about our families as she took her time with my Xrays. I had a bad experience with my last dentist and was very nervous. Dr. Ngo walked by my room and took the time to introduce himself which has never happened to me. Once my Xrays were ready Dr. Ngo came in to educate me on flossing and what I needed as far as my dental work. I have never had a dentist take so much time with me. I not once felt rushed. The dentist himself did my deep cleaning and made sure I was ok throughout the process. Matt assisted and was so kind! I then got to meet Heather. What a gem!! She is the treatment coordinator and as I had many questions not once did I feel I was being a bother. Heather was able to get me a price I could afford as Dr. Ngo is definitely not in it for the $. So I won't lie my dental hygiene hasn't been the best (hate flossing) but Dr.Ngo gave me the tough love truth about flossing. I never had a dentist that thoroughly explained to me why flossing is way more important than brushing. I also had been avoiding removing my wisdom teeth for YEARS out of fear. I got all 4 out today PLUS deep cleaning & it wasn't that bad. Horrible dentist! The dentist's name is Ngo. I went there for simple cleaning, but left in pain. He was so rough! He used a picking tool to pick in between the teeth, but he applied so much strength and reckless skills that it felt like he was doing construction. It has been almost a week since my cleaning and my teeth still ache, so I can't eat food without some pain. I don't know how he got such good reviews. Maybe those reviews were from his family or friends. Go to him if u have high tolerance for pain. read more

This is my first time here. We all know how difficult it is to find a dentist you can trust and you would WANT to go to. The receptionist alone deserves 5 stars! The dental assistant (I think Sandra was her name) was nice too and Kelly did a fantastic job assisting the Dentist. The facility is very clean and all the equipment and furnitures a new. They cover the equipment with plastic which is nice--keeps them clean. The only thing though is that the dental chairs (or at least the one I used) has plastic cover on it (the Saran Wrap style plastic) so it was annoying. If the plastic was wrapped all the way and snugged on the chair it would have been fine but it was laid on the chair so it gets stuck on you every time you move. Perhaps a paper covering like the ones they use on doctors tables would work better? Even the tv remote control is saran wrapped... ha-ha! Otherwise, I am really impressed with the cleanliness of the place. Dr. Ngo was very thorough with his work and how he explained things. The x-rays were put up on the tv screen instead of looking at little x-ray prints. I only had a cleaning done today but I am a believer! read more

I've been coming here for a few years now, I am way over due to review them. I love this office, I drive about 30 minutes with good traffic just to come here. The dentist is so nice, he makes you feel comfortable. The office and space that you get worked done are clean. The previous dentist I went to had told me I had a huge cavity in back if my mollar. I told Dr. Ngo so he can take a look. He said that their was nothing there. A different time I had a cavity on one of my teeth and he did everything possible so I didn't have to do major work done than just a fill. I feel like they are fair and do not do work just to get the money from me or my insurance. I highly recommend them!! read more

I haven't been to the dentist in um....several years. Don't judge. Dr Ngo is truly great and patient. His staff of dental hygenists are so very sweet and put me at ease. I didn't feel ashamed once that I was slacking on my oral care over the years. I was scared, really scared, actually. They were just so warm and kind, and I noticed - so thank you! They also gently reminded me to FLOSS! every day. No, like really, every day. The receptionist/office manager is very sweet and genuine. There was some problems with my insurance, requiring me to pay some money up front, but she handled it well and worked out a compromise with me. I eventually received my money back from the insurance company/Harbour Dental. This is a great office, clean and nice rooms with TVs/monitors to try to chill you out. I had to use headphones during the drilling because the sound freaks me out. The doctor and staff were very accommodating and just want to make you as comfortable as possible. Also- I referred an office mate to HD and they give you free movie tickets- yay! In closing, I will leave you with some sage advice from mom- You don't have to floss ALL of your teeth, just the ones you want to keep! read more

Came in @9 am to remove not one, but THREE wisdom teeth. After we checked out my X-rays, he asked if I was prepared and I was ready as I'll ever be. The extraction itself took him less than 5 minutes total. It was virtually painless! I didn't swell up like a chipmunk. In fact, I was out doing errands all day, not bed bound as expected. Thank you Dr. Ngo & team for fixing my horrible root canal yesterday and for making the best out of an unfortunate and scary situation! I was very nervous about the whole process but soon felt confident that I was in good hands. I was worried that I would be in a lot discomfort today but I feel fine and am back to work with out any pain. I must admit that I've neglected my oral health for the past 5 years because I'm a chicken and my cavity became so epic after a piece of filling chipped off (over a year ago) that I was worried I would lose my tooth, and maybe if I went to Dr. Sketchy down the street who knows what would have happened! I'm back with my family for our uusual cleaning and everything is as good as before! The first time I came here, Dr Ngo was very very thorough with my cleaning. It felt like a deep cleaning for the price of a regular one! I was sore the following day but I take full responsibility for it. After that, I've been really good with flossing and that same thorough cleaning was completely painless. Dr Ngo complimented me for it. The office is in tip-top shape (I might be able to eat off the floors) and the staff is ever-friendly. On my visit there, there was a kid who did not want to go in. My wife and I were looking for a dentist after moving to Huntington Beach few months ago. We interviewed and visited 4 dentist offices before choosing Harbour Dental (dr. Ngo). We chose this office for the updated equipment, technology, all digital, cleanliness, professional and friendliness. We feel that we have made a perfect choice. It offers everything that we were looking for in a dentist office. During our search for dentist, we were quite surprised of how some dentists could still stay in business. Some offices were filthy, old, with equipment from 80's, still doing everything by hand, etc. I agree with some of the reviews that his cleaning was a bit strong. In my case, the explanation was due to so much tartar build up and gum disease. I felt like I just had an industrial clean of my mouth and teeth. My mouth never felt so clean so I did not mind the pain. Perhaps this is an area where Dr. Ngo can try to be more gentle. Besides of having teeth cleaning, I also had some new crown done here. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Dr. Ngo took time to explain well the problems as well as showing me how to take care of my teeth. Dr. Ngo has a way of communicating that I finally understood how and why this should be done. As a result, after almost 60 years, I finally understand and know what to do. The irony of it all is that I am now obsessed with brushing, flossing my teeth. I have toothbrushes and floss located in every bathroom of my house. Phenomenal Dentists Office....Top to Bottom. Very nice and courteous staff. I came into get my routine teeth cleaning and asked about their mouth guards for sporting activities. I play basketball about 2 to 3 times a week and was looking to protect my pearly whites. Kelly (doctors assistant) was very informative on the entire process of the custom mouth pieces. Once she was finished (takes 2-3 days for custom mouth pieces) she had me come in and try it on. It felt a little bulky and I had pictured the final product to be a little thinner. Kelly picked up my reaction right away and let me know that she can shave it and form it better to my liking. She took extra time out of her day to make it just the way I wanted it. Yesterday afternoon, I had the pleasure of meeting Dr Ngo and his staff at Harbour Dental in Huntington Beach. I am the biggest procrastinator when it comes to dental work. All of that "putting aside", "I'll do it later" came back to bite me (no pun intended). I started feeling a lot of pain with one of my molars so I made a visit to see Dr Ngo. After some x-rays, I found out that I had a cavity, which was also infected. Dr Ngo really educated me about the importance of flossing. Preventive measures are key. After a deep cleaning procedure, my infected molar was extracted. It's been a little bit over 24 hours, but I'm feeling a lot better today! Dr. Ngo is the best dentist I have ever had. I thought I liked one of my prior dentists, but Dr. Ngo is the best I've had. I don't have great teeth. I had another dentist tell me I needed a ton of work done, Dr. Ngo said most of that was not needed. He focused on the crown on my front teeth that I had been unhappy with for years. I can smile now, proudly. He also gave me a good price since I didn't have insurance and although it took me fifteen months to come up with the money, he honored the price and let me make payments. I am very happy with Dr. Ngo and recommend him to anyone who asks. The office is clean, plain, boring. But I don't care about that as long as it is clean. His office staff is fine. Omg I love this place. I am weird...I love going to the dentist and having clean teeth!! I have been coming here for about 4-5 years now once every 6 months for cleaning and routine x-rays. The office, bathroom, patient rooms are ALWAYS immaculately clean! The staff is unfailingly sweet and friendly!! They have never messed up my appointments and I never have to wait long. You receive text way before your appt to remind you. Dr Ngo is awesome...super upbeat and passionate about good dental health. i see below some folks feel he is a bit heavy-handed but I can you, that if you followed his instructions and advice about interim/home dental care, he wouldn't have to work so hard on you! I personally think Dr Ngo is very aware of his patients' comfort and always tells me to raise my hand if anything hurts. Yeah, the drill is a little loud and may by a little uncomfortable but definitely NOT painful and remember, he has to get in there to make sure your teeth and gums are clean! I am very anal-retentive about my teeth and so I never have to be there long and don't have problems during cleaning.
