I actually feel for this Dentist/Owner if her telephone receptionist is indicative of the treatment the patient receives in the office! I I asked (I believe she is a Vanessa ) if she would be kind enough to call me once she was able to establish my insurance. She asked ME to call again the next day, as they were closing in four minutes. I said "Can you please take my name and number and try again ?" As a potential new client, I would really appreciate it if you could do this for me and confirm my eligibility! (I found out later that I was given my wrong account number by my insurance- company not her fault) I further requested an appt via message on Yelp. No one called me, no responded to my emailed message on Yelp, the next day, so I made a trip the next day to find out they were closed for lunch until 2 PM I went back after 2 PM and met with a very different agreeable young lady who looked at my information and said she was able to book an immediate appointment for me. The dog was in the hot car I told her I would call her as soon as I got home as I had some questions regarding extra charges mentioned here on Yelp.. I got sidetracked and was not able to call back to inquire as the the additional charges mentioned. Apparently, Vanessa who works in insurance and took my first and third outreach indicated that they cannot see me I need to someone to see it takes only PPO patients. I am presently insured with a HMO and paying for a PPO with a 6 mo wait for cavities etc Hey I just want to find a new dentist, get my teeth cleaned and get some x-rays!!! . I called SCAN who insures thru Delta Dental (both of my policies) they did a three-way call with Vanessa at Pearly White Dental and she was hostile and aggressive on the telephone indicating that so many patients come through saying they have a also have a PPO when in fact they also have an HMO and the company doesn't get a chance get reimbursed for the work that they had done!!! So basically they cannot see me if I have both in HMO and a PPO because they will automatically be reimbursed at the HMO level... The bottom line- find another dentist. Lady. she actually suggested I find a dentist who only takes PPO - this is not hard to do, BTW. . I was gob struck by the egregious and confrontational attitude. I have worked both front office and back office in a medical facility and I've also been in sales for over 40 years The first impression is the most important impression and I have to tell you I feel sorry for anybody new that has to go through this kind of drama and hostile communication on the telephone . Good Grief! I called my former dentist with whom I've had a PPO relationship and is 45 minutes away I'm going be seeing him, without the drama.I realize I may get some sort of response from the office based upon this...Know that I am a nice, supportive business lady, who likes to support other female business women. I have absolutely NO reason to try and impugn anyone's business relationships, but I'd get a handle on the front office, Fo'Sho'. if it's the same girl answering the phone on occasion...Your mileage may vary, Friends. Went here for my first cleaning and Dr. Dang was very knowledgeable and super helpful! Also, staff was very nice and friendly and they make you feel at home. Office has a cute interior design and I love it! I feel like I'm living at the beach hence it's located in Huntington beach. I'm definitely looking forward to my next cleaning! The office charge $10 for pre-rinse, $27 for rinse which were generously offered by other dental offices. $300 plus for a resin composite, I refused to pay this much for one filling, the front office clerk started to warn me about all the complications my teeth can get with an offensive tone which makes me feel like I am being a cheap person. It's a free market, please be nice to your customer. $80 plus for a fluidic antimicrobial treatment which when I refused to do, she insists that it must be done since it is a part of the cleaning procedure. I ended up canceling the whole case and later was asked to pay a $40 cancellation fees. The dentist seems very nice and professional, but please improve on the customer service, and work out the financial part with your patients. Thank you. read more

Titi Dang is an unscrupulous dentist who truly is as trust worthy as a mechanic who insists you need a new engine when you merely need spark plugs! My parents who live on a fixed income were quoted over 13k in dental work and at nearly 80 years. (Mind you they already were in over 5k) Didn't even care that she could be putting her patients at risk for severe complications. NOPE, didn't care at all just saw a whole lot of dollars as her payoff! Then there's the office staff, abrasive and attempted to bully my parents into submission. DEPLORABLE! I've been coming to Pearly White dental for at least 6 years now. This cute little dental place was conveniently located right where I lived in Huntington Beach. I hadn't been to the dentist since my senior year of High school so naturally I was nervous for my first visit. However, as soon as I walked in the girls at the front desk greeted me with a warm welcome and my nervousness subsided. The office is nice, small and they really go above and beyond to explain everything thoroughly and make you feel comfortable. Flash forward, I decided to start a treatment with Invisalign. Dr. Dang explained everything in depth of how my 1 year treatment would work and it was super easy and painless to follow the instructions and keep up with the procedure. I even lost a set of retainers once and the replacement was quick and easy to get which made me happy after going through my treatment for a year. I don't only appreciate the friendliness of the Dr and staff, but I love that they make you feel like whatever questions you have, or concerns you have, does matter. I used to hate going to the dentist but now I drive all the way from Laguna Beach to come here, and will continue to do so because I love this office and staff so much. My last visit with her she diagnosed me with 3 cavities that didn't show up on my X-ray and wanted to charge me $5000 for crowns. This place is more about optimizing profit, than care. Ex....was told I needed a root canal, but will only treat it after doing an extensive cleaning first. Also, called a few months later with swelling and pain, was told the dr. would get vack to me shortly.....never heard back (and didn't receive any other details from reception. The only positive. It's sad that this dentist does not give me any other choice but to find another dentist within my HMO plan. I was hoping to get a fractured crown replaced and adjacent crown replaced but they will not accept my copay as indicated by my insurance. They said they only use a brand name type of porcelain for my front teeth. And not anything else. Fine. But this special material costs an extra 400 dollars over my stated copay fir a porcelain crown. . And the other front tooth crown would cost $1800..not covered by insurance because that one although 30 years old is not broken. Way too expensive for a retiree broken-hearted on a fixed income. I wish this office would not be so rigid and give the customer a choice. Or stick to my insurance copay instead of the upsell. Now i have to find another dentist. read more

They do try to up sell (understandable) but during my follow up appointment when I was not interested in their additional "recommended" treatment they even went as far as telling me I had gum disease. I was shocked, because during my initial appointment with Dr. Dang when she measured my pockets NOT once did I hear her call out a 6 or an 8 to her assistant charting, this was ridiculous! Lesson learned and I wont be returning. BTW I did visit a Periodontal (Gums) Specialist who confirmed I did NOT have gum disease. Pearly White is not is not a good choice for people on dental HMOs. I selected Pearly White because they were a provider for my plan and has great Yelp reviews. I called in for my first time with a broken crown and asked if I could get an appointment right away and I was seated for exam within the hour! The office was immaculate, the doctor and staff very courteous. So far so good. I was presented with a single plan to solve my problem: $1,749.00 ($1,350 for the crown, plus a night guard) none of it covered by insurance and no other choices, not negotiable. The insurance / payment staffer explained that the crown the doctor recommended was not covered, so I asked for a revised plan for a crown that was covered by my insurance. I was told the doctor would need to review the X-rays again and the office would call me with the update. That was Wednesday. On Tuesday I walked in after a half dozen calls to the office plus more to my insurance. The doctor finally told me: she will not provide the basic kinds of crown for the contract price because "We are not that kind of dental office." Okay, but why did they agree to my be my assigned provider when I selected them? I explained that I had lost most of a week with this nonsense, to which she replied that I could have just accepted her plan, that was my choice. The nerve! I suppose they hope that some people will just cave and write them a fat check, and the rest can just suck it. read more

I have been going to this office for about a year now and I am so thankful for it. I hadn't been to the dentist in awhile and was not excited to go knowing I had a lot going on, but I was in pain and needed help. Dr. Dang and her staff were incredibly helpful at making a plan so I could get all the work done as fast as possible. Their hours are very flexible and I was able to complete all my appointments without missing any work. The front office helped me out with a payment break down that fit into my budget so I didn't have to worry about that either.
