To drink, I ordered an ube piña colada (which was not strong but was tasty) and a glass of house white. Eight perfectly cooked shrimp, which, if you know anything about eating seafood at the beach, is no small accomplishment. Shrimp can go from tender to rubber in the blink of an eye. These were just right. But the gravy... That was the star. Savory. Creamy. Deep with flavor. It didn't simply sit on top of the grit cakes; it brought the whole dish together, elevating every bite. And I was grateful for the spoon they served with it, because leaving even a drop of that gravy behind would have felt like a waste. There are meals you eat because you're hungry.
