My fiancé and I are obsessed with Monkeys. We live really close and there is always something fun going on here. We bring family and friends here when they are in town and love the nightly events they have happening every night of the week. On top of the atmosphere- the food is simply amazing. From the wings to the steak to the country fried steak- to one of their daily awesome specials- whatever you get will be delicious. Well, the bartenders certainly pay close attention to their friends. What do I mean? Well, the amount of alcohol u get depends on your friendship. The bartenders love to block the cold boxes that have an alcohol in them and pour it hidden. The Togo order was a train wreck but all the frees drinks and other attention not in the best interest of the regular customers was despicable. My go to neighborhood place for great food and cold beer. As many of you have heard by now my favorite place to be is bellied up to the bar. Unfortunately tonight the place was packed and no bar seats to be found. So we found a high top close by. Monkeys Uncle was hosting a Parrot Head gathering with live music. Who doesn't love so Jimmy Buffet on a hot summer night. The service was great. We ordered wings with Monkeys house sauce. So yummy and the Ahi Tuna appetizer. Also delicious. I came here to hear the. Ox Band play, to grab a burger/chips and a few margaritas. I was with a big party. My chair was faced away from the band. So, I could not see the band only hear them. I did like the Venmo app to tip the band with ease. The food and my margarita was very good. The place was packed with people like sardines. So many people. My Waitress NEVER CHECKED BACK WITH ME. I wanted one more drink. No go. I had to practically yell at her to get my check. I paid and left. I had fun, but there was much need for improvement. The wings were really good, the environment is what you would expect for a Friday night with a good band, but the waitress Randon rocks. We were there for a mini-reunion after 25 years and she absolutely made our night. Very attentive, polite and her sense of humor was amazing. This is a review of DJ/KJ Austin Williams that runs the Wed/Sat/Sun Karaoke show, not of the restaurant itself. Arrived at 9:15 to participate in the karaoke show that is listed for 9:30. DJ/KJ Austin Williams arrived at 9:30 and was set up just in time to start the show at 10:10. I was second to put in a song, and was followed by quite a few others (seems like he had a decent crowd awaiting his late start). After he had called up a third singer, I walked up and asked if he had my song in, at which he looked around and realized he had set mine off to the side. He then called up (I assume) one of his locals who and yet to put in a request and she walked up and said she wasn't ready yet. He then called me up. After I finished and handed him the mic, he then proceeded to chuckle and call out my face and the fact I look serious over the microphone, my response was "hey, don't do that" he continued to denigrate me over the microphone I flipped him off. He continued the berating and challenged me to come up to the booth. As I approached he asked me why I was treating him like an a$$h0le, I pointed out he was actually bashing me publicly over the mic. Upon him saying he didn't deserve that treatment I pointed out his starting late, his losing my song and skipping me (even with people that never even put a song in). He then decided he had the authority to ask me to leave the bar which the staff pointed out he had no right to do. Be warned if you attend his shows, you with be treated as you are below him. Now to his show, he had no control for the sound, music super loud, singers not equalized or even able to really be heard, lyric projection was actually being projected onto the singers. Good luck being able to read that, I hope you know the lyrics by heart. No sense of a singer rotation, even just a few singers in, he had no clue of a rotation and obviously puts in his locals without them knowing he was doing it. I recommend staying away from his business and any place that employs his show. read more

Monkey's is a great spot to have a great time & is appropriately priced for the service, food, drinks, and atmosphere provided. I particularly love coming for the Famous $5 Burger. They offer a variety of different fun nights and specials. Located at the end of a shopping plaza with a large parking lot, and bike racks on the side of the building for easy bike parking. We arrived on Sunday morning, early on 6/22/25. We were some of the first to arrive. We ordered the Tavern burger with waffle fries. When the food came out, I thought they forgot to give me a bottom bun. No, it was there, it was about 1/8 inch thick. There was a sliver of lettuce and the smallest onion slice I have ever witnessed. The waffle fries were done about 2 minutes after they pulled them. The male server said, "Here is your food," and walked away. Never asked do you need anything else? Like silverware, sauces. The servers were very interested in catching up with the regulars. Never going back. There are better providers out there. read more

I've been going to Monkey's since they were located on South 3rd St. and have always loved their wings. I since have moved away and came back into town this past weekend and decided to go to Monkey's to watch a game. One thing you can be certain of, you will not get any food born illnesses eating their wings.... They over fried them nearly beyond recognition. The meat tasted like dry chicken breast instead of crispy and juicy wings. On this visit, we got Medium Buffalo and Cajun Ranch flavors for the wings. I'm not sure if their sauces are made of expensive ingredients.... but the light drizzle of each on the wings left me wondering why such a scant amount of sauce on the wings? They used to toss and coat their wings. The light sauce coating and Sahara level dryness of what used to be wing meat, left them nearly inedible. On the positive of things though, it's still a great place to watch the game and the fries were actually really good. There's always cheap drinks, and if your a local, you will always find someone you know at the bar. The servers are always nice and personable. This visit was terrible, but I give it three stars based on nostalgia and previous good experiences. read more

Went to the Jags preseason game u til the half and then headed over to Monkeys Uncle to meet some friends. It's a popular sports bar to watch games and have drinks. As expected on a Saturday night it was crowded. Our server did a nice job overall checking on us and getting us drinks, food, our check, etc. the draft beer was ok but not as cold as it should be. There are lots of televisions and everyone has a good time. There was karaoke as well. We had some Mac and cheese bites and they were really good. They also give you a huge basket full. Everything was going really well until I ordered some wings and fries. Unfortunately, the fries looked and tasted like they had been sitting in the back since lunch, dry and lukewarm. The wings were lukewarm as well and didn't seem fresh. That was too bad because they seemed to be on the crispy side which I like and the buffalo sauce was really good. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and did have a good time. We will go back to listen to some live music and I'll give them another shot at the food to see if it was a bad night. read more

When my wife was a little girl, her parents got her a cloth sleeping bag. Nothing too interesting about it, other than the fact that she kept it, and after a while turned it into a blanket because it was soft and, well, blanket-like. Which we have kept for all of these years. Why? I'm not really sure why. I mean, it's super soft and comfy, but it's also small, ripped in about a zillion places, and the stuffing has been slowly ripping off or falling out of it for years. My wife keeps sewing it up and threatening to throw it away. But I really like it and so we keep it. Now, we had never been to Monkey's Uncle Tavern until recently, but some friends who we talked to told us it was one of their "go to" places to go eat. Why? Well, it really can't be because of its ambiance. It's definitely throwing off a beach bar vibe. Slightly skeevy but a good place to hang out and have a cold beer kind of feeling. There are pool tables and a patio and a big freaking bar sits right in the middle of the place. But like that tired old sleeping bag that I just don't want to get of? Yeah, I can see how Monkey's Uncle can grow on you as well. And you keep wanting to go back and hang out with friends. What I did not expect? Well, I was amazed at how good the food turned out to be. It's not five star gourmet dining, but I had the 1985 salad and my wife tried the wings. The shrimp on the salad were grilled well and the veggies dressing were really tasty. My wife's wings were really good, and the waitress told her to have them sauced, thrown back in the fryer and then sauced again. A nice suggestion that made them really tasty. Plus the coleslaw there is excellent! Lots of other menu items looked good as well, and I can't wait to try a burger or a Philly cheesesteak. Look, am I far too old to have a favorite blankey that I'm too stubborn to throw away? Well, yes. Yes I am. Monkeys is our go-to for good wings and bar food. We are impressed with their consistent quality and flavors of their menu items. I either go to Monkey's or D&LP when I want wings and they never disappoint. Their sauces are flavorful and leave nothing to be desired. I do ask for my wings "extra wet" because sometimes they go light handed with the sauces. If I'm not feeling wings, I'll have a chicken sandwich or wrap and it's always on point as well. The fried chicken sandwich tossed in your favorite wing sauce, made as a wrap, you can't go wrong! I love their waffle fries and homemade chips as well! They have lots of good apps so I definitely recommend trying the loaded chips, fried pickles or onion rings to name a few! A bonus, they also have good ranch! Cons: it can get VERY loud inside so if that bothers you definitely grab an outside table! I have noticed the portions have decreased a little bit. Our fried pickle app looked like a half portion. Still good but seems they've made a few minor cutbacks. Met my hubby and his coworker here for lunch. I had never been in before but they like going for lunch. We sat at the bar and the service was OK. Not great. Not bad, but she was a little forgetful and the food took a really long time. I gave my husband my order while I was driving there and that took 15 minutes and we waited another 10 probably after I arrived. They love the cheeseburgers so they each had a burger and fries, one person had she crab soup, I had the soup of the day which was asparagus and rice and the pretzels with cheese. All the food was good once we got it. The pretzels and cheese are really good and there were four of them so way more than expected. We did not even get a chance to order because the serve kept telling her patrons that they were in the wrong seats while trying to place a to go order, where there were empty seats. Instead of advising "you may sit here/there while you place/wait for your order." No she just kept saying "you can't there. That sit is taken. You can't put anything here. You can't sit here either." I just got kicked out of monkey uncles Tavern because of my Tourette's and ADHD..: explain you may ask. I have a disorder called Tourette's and ADHD. I was excited out of my mind to singing on karaoke night... little did I know these guys are psychopath (the people who owned the place.) I was pacing around because I was nervous to sing for my first time in karaoke and I was also very excited when a random man approaches me and says you can't be here. I questioned him I said what do you need and he said I had to order something off the menu so I said OK that's fine and then he took me outside. Where his apprentice some big dude threatened to hurt me on the premises... he pushed me up against the wall saying you need to leave now and posing that he wanted to hurt me. I was very scared so I didn't leave this is ridiculous behavior as I have Tourette's and idiot she and they didn't give me one reason as to why I needed to leave... I also continuously explained to them that I hadn't had to drink yet and I was willing to order something before I Sang I left very sad and upset so I just wanted to leave this review to let you guys know don't pace or talk to any other living human in the restaurant or else you'll get kicked out read more

If you like local dive bars with great people, reasonably priced drinks, and good food this place is for you. We walked here late one night after arriving in Jax Beach for something to eat. V and Ivan were behind the bar and were super attentive and helpful. We quickly made conversation with another guest and between the two we were given a list of places to try. They even have free bingo that you can play while hanging out. The street corn nuggets with the sweet chili sauce (thanks to V's suggestion) were delicious!
