Low-key might be my new favorite spot for burgers! Parking is validated, we got seated immediately, the servers were nice, and the food came out quick. No complaints there! And the burgers are all really good! There are so many options and yes they're on the pricier side but I still think it's really reasonable for what you get. The burgers are so hefty and the sides are huge. Only thing I didn't like is that in the bathroom, they're playing an audio of a man reading EAP's stories and it's low-key creepy but it's on theme so it is what it is. read more

One of my girlfriends brought me here and it was a lot more restaurant than I originally thought. Meaning, I didn't know the actual entrance was at the side of the building with outside seating, a bar and inside. Our server was kind and friendly. We ordered the Chili Cheese Fries and I had the Amontillado Beef Burger. Love the hand-cut fries because it was crispy and fresh. The chili cheese was good and love the melts, beans, sauce and ranch. The burger was wonderful, juicy, savory with great flavors of the guacamole, jalapeños jack cheese, pico de gallo and Chipotle sour cream. Definitely ate it all! Weird to say, but I really liked how the restroom was covered with pages of Poe's poetries and short stories along with an audio playing. Beautiful restaurant, very spacious. Had indoor and outdoor seating. Food was absolutely amazing. We ordered burgers and crab cakes. Everything had amazing flavor and was cooked great! Service was not the best at all, which really played a huge part in our experience. Our waitress seemed to be very forgetful since we had to ask 2 different times to bring lemons to the table. She never checked in on us after we ordered food (and I needed a refill) so we never got what we asked for until after another lady (thank you) brought our food out and got us our lemons. Waitress was not very friendly until after we had to ask someone else for something. We were also disappointed that she never mentioned the specials going on. We would have gotten something completely different had we known the specials. Sunday Funday was wonderful at Poe's Tavern. I absolutely love the theme of this place & the decor is inspiring for any Poe fan right down to the novel page wallpaper in the restrooms! We tried this restaurant because the one we were going to was closed for the 4th. The food was good once we got it.... It was a VERY long wait. Typically we know on a holiday the wait will be somewhat long, but this time it seemed much longer because the waiter was not attentive. From start to finish we waited for food for 1.5 hours. He only checked on us when we asked another waiter for things. It was a very odd experience. People all around us had their food and left before our food arrived. (They came after us). We had some burgers, nachos, quesadillas and a few drinks . The good! the food that arrived was good. The nachos, the queso the burgers. The fries were cold. They do have a cool experience. If you collect trash on the beach, fill up a pail they provide. You can receive a free beer or appetizer! while we waited 45 minutes to be seated the kids went to the beach to collect trash. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! It's a staple in my household. They have an awesome menu with lots of options. I usually get the tell tale heart, and you're able to get chicken, burger or the vegetarian version. The staff is always on point and super nice which always makes the experience 10x better. I also recommend sitting outside to the right when you walk in as it's got the cutest vibe in my opinion. The restrooms are also a hit so don't forget to check them out. You can always get a great burger at Poe's. On this specific Sunday we stopped by for lunch and had a great time. It was a little cool to sit outside when we arrived, so we grabbed an indoor table ... They do offer indoor seating, covered patio seating, and outdoor tables. I had the gold bug burger with cheddar cheese and onion straws on the side. The burger was among the best in Jacksonville, the onion straws were plentiful on the plate but a bit greasy and salty. The restaurant offers a lot more than just burgers, my wife had the buffalo shrimp tacos which were also quite good. Service is always decent. If you go to Poe's, you'll have to make sure to visit the restroom - I wish I could explain the creativity of the design, but it's worth experiencing. Pricing averaged just over $25 per person including the lunch and a soft drink, a reasonable value. Overall, a wonderful casual meal. read more

I always use a 5 star point system to rate each restaraunt. Here is the whole evaluation. The food was good, but I've had better. 4/5. The service could've been much faster. 3.5/5. Ambiance was absolutely perfect and themed with Edgar Poe himself. 5/5. This lands us on a 4.3 star average. It could have used a little more of the chili on it, but the flavor combination was executed beautifully. We stopped by Poe's Tavern at the beach after seeing great reviews--and they did not disappoint! The burgers were fantastic and absolutely live up to the hype. I had the chicken quesadilla, which was good (not the best I've ever had, but still enjoyable). Our server, Alex B, was amazing--super attentive, friendly, and had such a great personality. She checked in often and made us feel really taken care of. The drinks were also a hit! I had a spicy margarita, and it was honestly one of the better ones I've had in town. My daughter had the Poe's Punch and said it was refreshing and tropical--perfect for a beach day. It was a little warm inside because the A.C. wasn't working that day, but they let us know it's usually on. Honestly, I felt worse for the staff than for us--we weren't there long. Regardless, the food and service made it worth it, and I'd absolutely recommend this place and plan to come back! Also, I loved the unique Poe-themed touch--while heading to the restrooms, you can hear Edgar Allan Poe stories playing over the speakers. My only complaint is that they don't have wings and I asked for pineapple for my drink and they were out. Who the F*ck is out of pineapple?? It's a dang bar! Pineapple is essential. I almost went to management but thought it might ruffle some feathers. Rob, the bartender, assured me that the pineapple shipment would be coming soon. My only complaint is that service can be extremely spotty. We had 2 toddlers and the servers accommodated us. The ambiance is very sporty with a nerdy vibe. There are quite a few TV screens and during our visit showing various football games. It was not overly loud so it was still possible to have conversations within our party. Each burger is a nod towards Edgar Allan Poe's work. I had the Gold Bug Plus, bun-less. It comes with a couple of options and I went with the sweet pepper goat cheese option made medium. It was delicious and juicy. I also really enjoyed the deep fried onions and French fries. All the burgers are made to order so all our burgers and fries were hot and fresh. The Edgar Poe art, the bathrooms with Edgar Poe literature wall paper, and nerdy burger names are really cute and very unique. Parking can be a bit tricky so prepare for that part. This was an overall 5/5 stars and I highly recommended for any sports watchers who are also avid Edgar Poe readers. read more
