Solid 4-star experience at Dick Mondell's. I tried the Original Big Dick burger and it definitely lived up to the hype. Juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked just right. You can tell they keep it simple but focus on quality. Also gave their new smoked wings a shot and was impressed. Great flavor with that nice smoky touch--definitely worth ordering alongside the burger. Finished it off with a strawberry shake and that was the perfect move. Service was slow... took almost 10min to get food when we were the only customers. My 8 y/o son ordered the Dick Jr. with American cheese, and said it tasted like a child made the burger. The smoked chicken sandwich was sooooo puny! Not worth $12!!!! The best thing we ordered was the fries... they were crispy on outside, fluffy on inside fries with seasoning like Arbys curly fries. The menu offers an option for everyone, vegetarian and vegans alike. Which is so great to see in fast food settings. They offer both a house-made veggie filled patty and an impossible burger. Veggie patty did not hold its shape well, which made it difficult to eat. Overall food was fine but not worth the expensive price tag. Stopped by at 6:38 on Thursday evening and all we wanted was 2 juniors, one with American cheese, one with pepper jack and an order of chips. After 2nd time clearly speaking the order,the attendant was confused! My frustrated husband asked the attendant to start over and when we got to the window she and her coworkers were having a good laugh. She looked at us with a clueless look and as if she was high. The food was great but service lacked. The lack of caring, and wanting to please customers seems to be a lost consideration. For the price of $20.90 for these you'd expect better service. A Friday night new try! I made it 40 mins before close. I thought they might be open until 10 on Fri or Sat nights but it is 9pm. The names for some of these menu items y'all; I was laughing like an immature teenager. Very entertaining. This fast food, order at the window counter was perfect timing for my busy night. I ordered the "Big Dick" Burger and small fry. Essentially a double cheeseburger. The food came out pretty fast! They take your name up front, and call your name when the food is ready. I sat outside at one of their tables on the covered patio which was very clean. The "Dicks Sauce" was perfect for the fries. I asked what it was made of and they said ketchup, pickle juice, and a few other things - good! The only reason I took off one star is for the prices, and my burger being just a smidge dry. But again; I did go during their last open hour. That's on me. I would totally try again and come earlier. I did think the burger and ingredients had great flavor, and the thick sliced pickles were very good! You get a hefty portion for the $10 burger, I couldn't finish mine. So it is pricey for fast food, but the quality is there. I shared a brief pic on social media and got some great suggestions for next time as well. Apparently DM has good desserts! We had a party of 3 at around 7 on a Sunday evening. This is fully counter service (and a drive-thru) and our food came out in a reasonable time. I got the junior burger and was pleasantly surprised. The toppings were fresh and the bun was soft. I wouldn't necessarily classify it as a smash burger, but I'm not sure that's what they advertise either. The hand cut fries were just okay, they were a little flimsy and didn't have great flavor. My friend got the sweet potato tots, which are definitely the superior choice of the two. My friend and boyfriend ordered milkshakes (1 vanilla and 1 coffee), both of which had good flavor; however, they provide paper straws for these as well so unless they're almost fully melted, you won't be able to drink it. I was a big fan of Dick Mondell's in Gainesville, so I was so excited to see that they were opening one in Jax Beach!! We came on Friday at around 6:00PM and the place was popping! No parking available in their lot, which was okay because there's plenty of free parking along Jax Beach. The line was fairly long, and there's no awning, so those waiting in line must bear the Florida sun, rain, or whatever other weather is thrown our way. However, the line moved quickly (we waited ~10 minutes) and the wait was pleasant. The menu is very straightforward. We ordered one Original Big Dick (ha...), one Dick Junior, and a large fry. We waited another ~10 minutes for our food, and decided to walk the few blocks to the beach to enjoy our food, since outdoor seating was pretty limited. The burgers were quite good. The Original Big Dick is NOTABLY larger & more filling than the Dick Junior, and I found the Junior to be the perfect size for me! The Dick's sauce tastes like it's just ketchup and mayo (which is fine because we looooove a good ketchup and mayo). The fries were just alright -- likely won't order fries again next time we go. The fries were salty and kinda different from most fresh cut fries I have had. The more the cooled off the worse they got so eat them hot. Lastly the biggest disappointment was finding out the ice cream cookie sandwich was a blue bell ice cream sandwich. Relatively slow for a Saturday afternoon so the service was quick to take my order and give me my food. I was in and out in about ten minutes. Since there was so much outdoor seating, decided to eat at the restaurant and the breeze that came through and the shade they provide helped with beating the heat. The wait is over! After driving by for what felt like eternity, walked down for opening day. The good: the food! Burger was delicious - a smash burger, tasty burger sauce, plenty of pickles. A little heads up the burgers don't auto come with cheese, so make sure to add that if you want it. The junior is a 4 ounce patty, the original is two of those (so 8 ounces total). Sweet potato tots were delicious, a little salty nice and sweet and fluffy inside. They serve it with the burger sauce, I preferred them without the sauce. The ok: service was lackluster. Not good not bad. It was quick, and I understand I was the first customer on opening day, they just didn't seem excited or happy to be opening. That's ok, they will I'm sure get better. The food here is great, although they need to work on some things. It's very odd that there are no meal or combo options. The total for a burger, fries and a small drink was more than 18$. I was over at the Jax beach area and saw that Dicks was open! First off, there were lines at the drive thru and in the walk up window. I ordered through the walk up window and didn't have to wait too long to order. Menu is pretty simple if you're looking for a burger. Either you want double patties or a single. Had a few people ahead of me but my order didn't take long to take. Asked for a milkshake but unfortunately they weren't set up yet for milkshakes. Have to come back to give that a try. They need more tables for people to sit but I'm sure they're aware of that. They definitely have the space to add a couple more tables to where it's not so crowded. Peeking inside while we ordered I observed an immaculate kitchen. Two employees were working on forming patty's with fresh hamburger from a large container of very fresh looking meat. We ordered the original big Dick, and fries, and I got a veggie burger. The prices are reasonable but cheese is extra. After not too long of a wait we got our burgers and drinks. We ate in our car as it started to rain. The fries were exceptional! Right out of the bag, hot and fresh. Perfectly seasoned. My veggie burger was so good. Crispy fried edges, on a nice substantial bun. Their sauce, lettuce and onion. Perfect! Best veggie burger I ever had. My husband was silent as he ate his burger.
