Great experience. I find the venue well worth the higher cost for concerts compared to other smaller venues that I'm use to. I came here recently to see the band Phantogram and have been here a few times before. The venue has great views from all areas. It's two stories high. You can access the second floor with the stairs or elevator. First floor is general admission and second floor is seating/tables on the side. They do offer quick service food so the tables come in handy. The lights and sound is great here which is the most important thing. The only thing I do not enjoy about the set up is in the seating area everyone has to get up in your row before you can exit to use the bathroom. Also it's a super long walk from parking. I saw suggestions for taking a uber to Valet and that's honestly brilliant because then you can drink more too! They have a bar downstairs and two upstairs. Go during sets or the wait is forever! Overall a classic, awesome venue. read more

Came to watch Gavin DeGraw in concert. The venue is very nice and clean. Pretty well maintained. Staff is very friendly and very helpful. The seating set up in is a bit tight and very intimate. The seats lock together, so there is no moving them. The rows are also very close to one another, so even when standing you will notice it is very tight and somewhat uncomfortable. They use a very good should system here and it is defiantly noticed as shows here sound much better than their competitor a few miles down the road. read more

I enjoy Hard Rock Live as a concert venue. I've seen several concerts there ranging from rowdy, hard rock/heavy metal concerts, cover bands, or alternative bands like the most recent Goo Goo Dolls show. The staff are super friendly. The drinks are definitely more expensive but that's kind of to be expected considering it's in Universal. What I like best is that you can stand pretty much anywhere and get a good view. The place has an intimate feel without feeling claustrophobically packed. And of course the location is convenient; when you leave the concert you have a plethora of restaurants and bars to choose from. I always look forward to whatever the next show will be for me at Hard Rock! read more

Over the weekend we made our first visit to Hard Rock Live at Universal Orlando. We saw the Werq the World Tour. I will commend the Hard Rock on a few things. First, there was a storm with quite a bit of nearby lightening happening as we were waiting in a huge line outdoors. They got us safely through security and indoors in great time! Additionally, the venue is great (quite small and intimate honestly) and the bar staff were fast and friendly. Where we became disappointed was the show itself. We had opted to save money by purchasing standing tickets. We arrived early and had a great view, however, it was quickly clear that they need to restructure their ticket sales strategy. There were many empty seats on the floor and in the balcony, but the standing room area was over sold. We were quite overwhelmed with the crowd and it seemed like they could have pushed people to buy a proportionate number of seats to standing room. I stood as far away as I could while still seeing and gave up our great view because the crowd was huge and no one seemed to be enforcing the vaping policy I assumed they had. To make matters worse, the line up of entertainers was way off. We thought we had an understanding of who was performing on this tour based on general promotional materials that showed 13 queens. The Ticketmaster and other promotions for this show only showed 8 and so we assumed that was who we would get to see at this show. Instead we only got 6 queens and a few of them weren't on any of the promotional materials! We felt like this was a total bait and switch as we likely wouldn't have paid to see most of these queens and had already seen or passed up on seeing some of them. Lastly, parking at this venue was $27 which is incredibly far from the Hard Rock. It is free after 6pm but we arrived early and had to pay the full price to be there for about 30 mins. When you see a movie at City Walk, parking is validated. I don't see why the Hard Rock couldn't do the same when you're purchasing a much more expensive ticket. I realize the risk we took with getting standing tickets and with having a rotating cast on this tour. I still am disappointed due to overselling the specific area of the venue we were in, lack of policy enforcement, and getting a different entertainment experience than what was advertised. I'll buy a seat next time, but I would likely opt for different venue or even just go see War on the Cat Walk instead of Werq the World. read more

A great venue without a bad seat in the house! I really enjoy 3,000-4,000 seat venues for the simple fact that there usually isn't a bad seat in the house. You have a good view of the state even from the mezzanine, and it feels more intimate for a NATO AK act comedian performance. Modest size venues like this are great for musician performances as well. I saw Jim Jefferies here and the show was great. He was very funny and even did some crowd work on this tour. You could hear the questions and his response, again another great example as to the size of this venue being perfect. read more

11/20 - JIM GAFFIGAN LIVE! Uber or Valet Park to get here, it is worth it! They leave you way closer than the actual parking lot. Since it is located at Universal Studios, it is quite a long ways from the parking lot, plus no parking fees. It is very well organized. When we arrived there were two staff members, telling everyone where they needed to stand. The check in process and check bag process went very smoothly. We all got in on time. They set up the floor with chairs. I've been to many standing room only events here so this was a nice change. The chairs were very comfortable, a little small, plus they were all attached at the bottom so you were a little too close to your neighbor. You could not take any pictures or video. I had my phone out on my lap and one of the security staff told me to put it in my purse. He kept going up and down the aisles. I got a rum and coke. They made it perfect! Plus they gave you a souvenir cup. read more

We always have a great time at Hard Rock Live Orlando. There is not a bad seat in the house. Its a relatively small venue with an intimate feel to it. It is the perfect date night for a concert or comedy act. You can also book a corporate event, party or some other special event. Most recently we attended one of the Classic Albums Live performances. We attended the Eagles Tribute concert where they played the Hotel California Album. It was one of the Eagles best selling albums of all time. The band plays the entire album in order. At the end of the album they played a few extra long time favorites to enhance the audience experience. The musicians were very talented and we had an exceptional evening. read more

I had been here years ago but didn't remember much. I went back recently to see Coheed & Cambria. It was a good show, but Hard Rock is definitely not my favorite music venue. The good: The sound, plenty of standing room, and decently sized stage. The (really) bad: The drinks (weak and really expensive - not worth the $$$), your have to descend 3 flights of stairs for the bathroom (and ascend to get back, of course), and getting out of the venue is the worst. It's terribly designed - we felt like cattle being herded and it took FOREVER. I guess if it's where my favorite bands play, then I'll be back - but I'll definitely pregame it and try to scoot to the back before the show ends. read more

Just had the opportunity to check this place out last night at the Modest Mouse concert. It's a big venue! The staggered 'balcony' seating is very much like movie theatre meets airplane. They are staggered like you would see in a cinema - sans the cup holders (which would have really been useful...) but with the leg-room of an airplane. A tiny, tiny airplane. If you are a long-legged gentleman; best of luck. There isn't enough room for people on the inner rows to get out unless everyone in their way exits the isle first. You can't fit past the people's legs. So... that sucks. On the up side of the balcony seating, there is an additional restroom up there with a much shorter line - and not one but TWO partial bars. Not full bars, mind you, so you best be getting beer to make use of this - but useful just the same. One sells food; GET THE FOOD. You will NOT regret this. We had the hotdog & the nachos - Cuban style - and that seriously bumped this whole joint up a star. The stage lighting was cool - but the band sounded off. Whoever handles the sound had the music loud enough to overpower the singer, who then had his mic up so high it kept getting interference & you STILL could only barely hear the guy. This is presumably the issues the band had rather than the venue so it has not affected my star rating. Just worth a mention, in case I'm wrong as to whose feet the blame should fall at. CityWalk parking is free after 6, so that's a nice start. A bit of a trek from the garage to the venue, but you do get to do some sight seeing and grade-A people watching along the way, so it's not all bad. The venue itself is awesome. It's intimate, so both the concert I saw years ago and the stand-up show I saw this evening were awesome. Not a bad seat in the house. The bar service is lightning fast (but you can expect an up-charge for generic beer and wine) and the ushers are quick and helpful about getting you to your seat. They're also quick to reprimand people who aren't abiding by the courtesy rules (like no phones out during a comedy show). Restrooms were spacious and clean which was great for a quick stop in before the show got going. Great spot for an up-close-and-personal experience of your favorite band, singer, or comedian. I don't know what shows normally go for, but tickets were only $30 a pop for tonight's sold-out show! read more

One of the better venues in Orlando, this is a great place to see any type of live show, although the acoustics can leave a little bit to be desired for some concerts. The Hard Rock brand is prevalent throughout the venue from the colors to the memorabilia to the great staff. Sitting in the front row of the balcony is ideal for most shows since the floor can be a bit of a free for all unless there is assigned seats. There are bars and a restroom upstairs which are a lot less crowded, although they do an old time "walk you to your seat" which can take a while but is nice. Be prepared to pay for parking at Universal unless you have an annual pass and be prepared for theme park drink prices as well. Overall a great venue that I know I will be back to. read more

The staff was great. They provided the early birds with water on a hot summer day in August. We arrived 3 hours early and they took care of use, making sure we didn't pass out from dehydration. It was very much appreciated. The staff moved us out of the rain when the huge drops fell from the sky. The venue opened it's doors 15 minutes early, and saved us from the heat. Upon entering, security was thorough and quick. The venue was nice and cool. It was very spacious and the sound quality of the show was great. read more

Smokers and poor management killed this place for me. I walked into the hotel and was immediately greeted by a nicotine filled atmosphere. If smokers insist on smoking, management should accommodate them with covered areas outside the facility where health conscious non-smokers aren't forced to tolerate smokers filthy habit. The rooms were smaller than I expected, but they were ok. The restrooms are clean. Restaurants and eating facilities were fairly priced. For smaller, more intimate, but still rockin' good fun, check out the Hard Rock Live in Orlando, FL at Universal Studios. The parking garages are free after 6p and you'll have to check your bag before entering the park. HRL is right next to the Hard Rock Cafe and check-in is handled right outside the front door. You will likely scan your ticket from your phone and then head right in. You may take note of the small amount of rock memorabilia, but likely you'll head straight for the restroom (downstairs), the bar, or to the snack stand closer to the stage. You can order popcorn, pretzels or sodas (my popcorn and soda came out to $9 - damn good popcorn, too). You can bring food and drink to your seat with you but you will be packed in like sardines at the center front. There's NOT a lot of elbow room - you read it here first. But I got to see Pat Benatar live and that's all that really mattered to me. I was " All Fired Up" to see that silver fox and she did not disappoint. Pretty much you can only park in the Universal Parking Garages. It's a loooong walk to Hard Rock Live. Many times because it's a concert you are dressed up and in heels. If you are taller than 5' 7" and weigh more than 150, your experience here will be miserable. The seats are tiny and there is no leg room. A woman was obviously not consulted in the theater design as hips were not intended for these seats. The venue size is perfect and the acoustics are good. We went to a comedy show and sat in the balcony and could see and hear everything perfectly. It would be a better experience for the audience to have a few less seats and allow people to actually sit without squatting. read more

The venue is a great place to see any show because the prices are very reasonable and there is not a bad seat in the house. The drinks are a little pricey (as expected) but you can purchase a drink that will give you $3.00 off refills. Unless you plan on leaving the show to get a refill, you will probably be wasting your money. They close the inside bar during the show and leave the outside bar open. So again, unless you arrive early enough to have a few drinks before the show- save your money. They do have a "eats and drinks" station where you can get a $10 hot dog, $6 pretzel, $5 popcorn and 3 burger sliders for $12. The show started a few minutes late, but worth the wait! I really like this venue!!! I was there last for the Bush show. My friend and I were in GA standing. There is also railing in the back on the ground level and seating on the top level. My view was pretty great. There is always a risk of a tall person standing in front of me, but that is just my luck! Restroom are downstairs so that's kind of inconvenient but not unacceptable. Bars are only a few feet away. My bar tender was really nice! And he was a cutie! Prices for drinks are a little above average but that is to be expected. This really is one of the better concert venues in Orlando, however, it's not the easiest to navigate to and you get stuck with the City Walk price surges (i.e tourist pricing) on food and drinks. I've seen a handful of shows here, and the performances themselves have all been great. Parking at City Walk is never fun though. My husband & I intentionally postponed our arrival so that we could avoid paying $20 to park and score the Florida Resident rate, which is FREE after 6PM. But when we arrived, we were told they do not offer that during Halloween Horror Nights events at Universal, which was a major bummer. From the parking garage, you go through a series of escalators, moving sidewalks and security checks. Don't forget to memorize the name/number of where you parked your car or else you'll be in for a long night later, haha. Arriving at the venue, we went through an additional security and bag check. The first floor of the Hard Rock is open and spacious with a large middle bar at the entrance. The first floor is standing room only and there is a second floor with balcony seating. I had balcony seats for the last show I attended. Unless it's extremely important to you to be able to sit down, save your money and opt for the general admission tickets. The seating was very tight with limited leg room, and we were asked to stand up every few minutes to allow other guests to navigate in and out of the row. The pros to having balcony seats: There are 2 additional bars and a separate bathroom upstairs so the lines are much shorter. General admission attendees cannot access the balcony. I recommend eating before you go because they only serve over-priced concession style snacks (hot dogs, chicken tenders, etc.) which are just meh. Overall, the stage, sound, acoustics and all that jazz are on point and I don't mind attending performances here. read more

For as nice as this venue seems initially it is dangerously close to two-star territory for me. Let's start with the parking fees. If you arrive later at night Universal will cut you some slack with the high parking fee. However, if you're coming from Tampa there is a high probability that you will encounter a traffic nightmare on I-4 caused by wrecks, weather, etc. If you don't leave early there's a good chance that you will miss your show if that happens. So arriving earlier in the afternoon means hello $17 parking charge. Ugh. Almost every concert that I have seen here has been standing room only general admission on the floor. I am way too cranky at this point in my life to put up with that. Mercifully there are reserved seats upstairs. The seats are semi-comfortable, except for the hard, wooden armrests. The rows that the seats are in were designed by a sadist. I would not be confused for a big guy and still I have a terrible time squeezing past people. The rows are so cramped you're almost guaranteed to be stepping on people trying to get past them. It's so bad I saw the people behind me climbing over chairs and over a bannister to get out instead. I followed their lead and tried it in the other direction and not only banged my knee on a hard armrest, but also spilled a woman's $15 drink down my leg in the process. So I was out $15, had a sock that smelled like hard liquor, and had my dreams of becoming a ninja dashed. The seats on the far end of the rows (like mine) have pretty terrible views of the stage. Still it was better than standing in the sea of humanity on the general admission floor for two hours. I always cringe when I see that they still have bathroom attendants here. I'm sorry, but I am not tipping someone to hand me a paper towel. I'm perfect capable of walking two feet and getting one myself. It's always awkward and uncomfortable when I refuse their assistance. What I like about Hard Rock is that with their clout they are sometimes able to pull acts that don't come to Tampa. I'll keep coming here because of that but I won't always be happy about it. read more

We saw Weezer here (the second night) and had such an incredible time. Rivers Cuomo and the guys did an outstanding job and this was a great place to rock out. Really, really LOVE this venue! My husband and I are not big fans of having to drive to Universal and do the whole cramped parking-lot and moving-walkway journey, but boy are we glad we did! So far we have been to a few concert venues in our short 6 months of living here, and I have to say that the decor in this one takes the cake. Its also small and reminds me of the tiny San Francisco concert venues that I miss and love so freakin' much. We stood by the bar and rocked out to Weezer playing their entire Pinkerton album. Acoustics were terrific, and Rivers actually made a lap around the facility singing on a wireless mic during one of the songs. If another band we love comes to Hard Rock Love, we'll definitely be back and will gladly put up with the crazy crowds to get there. read more

3.5 stars, but I am rounding down. That said, I do like this venue to see a show. Have to admit, I've seen 2 shows at Hard Rock Live, and neither of them were music. Saw Jon Oliver and more recently, Ralphie May. Both times, my seats were orchestra - first time I was a bit closer in the center-left, this time I was further back - row P - right-center. Its a cute intimate venue with a great sound system and acoustics. I didn't get anything to drink either time, so I can't comment on the prices or beverages. The seats are fairly comfortable, if a bit close together. Just hope you're not sitting next to a fat guy or someone who feels the need to sit with their legs spread as wide as possible. There isn't much of an angle, either, so if someone tall is in front of you, you are going to have trouble seeing. For the crowded feeling and the sometimes lack of a good viewing angle, I have to round down. The venue is also in a great location in that you can go into the parks during the day at Universal, if you want to and have the money, and/or you can hang out at city walk after the show and go dancing or drinking, if those are your things. Some tips for you, even if this isn't the tip section: If sitting in the orchestra, stick to middle, left middle or right middle. Don't sit on the far left or right as the viewing angles of the stage suck. The balcony only overhangs starting at around Row P, maybe as far back as S. So the front balcony, while probably a reasonable view, is still fairly far back. It does wrap around on the sides though. However, the angles at those seats didn't look great. You'd probably want to read other reviews or tips just to be sure. Parking is going to cost you. I believe Universal discounts the parking after 5 or 6, so it shouldn't be full price, but you will have to pay. Full price is $15, the late night parking is $5 or $10, I think. Check Universal's website to be sure. Annual pass holders park for free. read more

2018 Review 49/100 A decent concert venue, though there are better venues in Central Florida. Hard Rock Live is a good size - larger than House of Blues. The acoustics aren't great, though, and for that reason, I prefer other venues. Granted, I've only been to one concert an HRL so maybe it was just that particular show. But the acoustics overall were pretty awful. If a band I love is playing here, I'll attend. But my preference is to attend concerts elsewhere because this is just mediocre to me. I'm a newbie to this Hard Rock and wasn't familiar to exactly where it was. SURPRISE!!! You need to park in a garage, enter City Walk and walk all the way around City Walk to get to it! Whew! Not easy to do if you're handicapped. And City Walk only provides wheelchairs....no scooters. If I only knew ahead of time........ Anyway, Hard Rock rocks out!!!! It's just the right size to be able to see any show. There's not a bad seat in the house! My problem was with Ticket Master as the tix I purchased online claimed to be accessible but it wasn't. Enter Hard Rock manager Chelsea to the rescue. She promptly made sure there was an accommodating seat for me. It was a wonderful experience. read more

My husband and I have been to several concerts here. It's a great little venue because of its location at Universal Studios Citywalk so you can grab a quick dinner at one of the establishments before the show and kill time before the show. Parking can get backed up so make sure to get there early! During weeknights (not sure about weekends) Florida residents get free parking after 6pm(with valid ID) so that's a bonus! On our most recent visit to see Pentatonix, Hard Rock security had a line form outside to go through security. I will say that as long as the line was, it moved very quickly. Once past security, we tried to grab food but the line was just too long and not really moving so we opted to grab a drink from the bar in the front lobby area. We had seats on the floor and they were great but most of the time people were standing. I made a point to sit through some songs since we paid good money for those seats! ;) It's a total preference thing on what seats to get. We've been seated up on the balcony before and while it was ok, it got really old watching people walk back and forth while you are trying to enjoy a show. There are also standing room admission tickets which I am sure are a steal but make sure you are wearing comfy shoes. Don't do stilettos unless you have someone to carry you on their shoulders at the end of the night! I'd totally come back again. Always a great time at the Hard Rock! read more

My most recent show was The Killers, the band puts on one heck of a show I highly suggest going to see them live. The Hard Rock Live in particular is a great concert venue to see bands, especially bands who do large stadium tours. The venue is very intimate and the sound is great! There are many stands for food and beverage and the lines moved pretty quick. One spot in particular I go to is right behind where the sound board is setup. You have a clear view of the stage and avoid being on the floor with all of the general admission. read more

My friend and I went to Hard Rock to see the Nas concert. It was the first time for both of us. From the outside the place looks huge, but once inside, I was surprised at how intimate the venue is. We got them e a little later than we would have liked, but it was no worry. You truly get a great view regardless of where you are in the building. Cons: -They didn't have enough bars. During the intermissions, the lines to get a drink were very long and moved slow. I know the bartenders were doing no the best they could to keep up, but there was just too many people. -The walk from the parking by garage is not my favorite. It just feels so far away. A number of us went to see the "Nashville in Concert" series and the cost was $125 to sit in the upper balcony eight rows from the back!! Although I love the television show "Nashville" none of the performers are bona fide concert draws requiring this price. In addition, Hard Rock Live charged us EACH another $40 for taxes and FEES! What a ripoff. At the concert, I found out some people sitting in our section got tickets for $65 from Groupon. DO NOT ORDER TICKETS DIRECTLY FROM HARD ROCK if you plan to go to this overpriced venue. Shame on Universal Studios, Hard Rock Live and CMT for gouging their customers and fans of "Nashville". I came to this venue for a The Story So Far show on the 29th of April and when I say they have the best security personnel I absolutely mean it. The venue itself is nice and clean, but the people who work here know how to treat others with respect and kindness. The security at the barricade consistently handed out water bottles to the crowd and one gentlemen (didn't get his name) even stood up on the barricade and asked everyone if they were okay. I was blown away by how awesome the show was + the amazing venue staff. Hats off to you guys for making the show 10x better. I don't consider this a small venue. It's larger than a lot of the dowtown Orlando venues, and house of blues, but it's not too bad. I saw Godsmack here, Hell Yeah, Korn, and similar types of music, and they take the "NO MOSHING ALLOWED" thing..pretty seriously, so, if you're going there for that type of music, have fun being totally polite and listening to heavy music by not doing anything. I hateee how you have to pay universal parking and walk like you're going to a theme park to get here, but you get over it...then the over priced drinks hit you! ugh! If you stand in the center, closer to the front of the state, you wont hear anything (sound science) as the speakers are stage left and stage right. Acoustics aren't the best, but it isn't that bad if you pick a good place to stay. Overall it's decent, but I avoid this venue unless there's a band I'm dying to see! read more

I've been to tons of shows at Hard Rock because the nice venue makes it completely worth it. BB King, Sevendust, Indigo Girls, Godsmack, Nelly Furtado, Kids in the Hall, Modest Mouse, and Tool are some of the most memorable that spring to mind. I've had general admission tickets, balcony seats, and a balcony table. Downstairs (general admission) is great for dancing and crowd fun. The speedy bartenders keep the lines to a minimum, but it's always super packed, like sardines. I think I most enjoyed sitting at the table because the view is completely unobstructed, a waitress brings you drinks during the show, and you get to use the much less crowded upstairs bathroom. The bar upstairs is small, so if you have to get your own drinks, you could be waiting for a spell. Security, Security, Security! Some of them you see, but some of them you don't....until they tap you on the shoulder to escort you out! They'll kick you out for smoking (that's cigarettes, as well as anything illegal). My boyfriend got kicked out of the Tool show for taking a pic with his cell phone. Of course, they had signs posted everywhere forbidding any type of recording device, and I think Tool is known for being very anti-pirating. Oh yeah! They completely forbid any type of crowd surfing and they will defiantly kick you out for that. When I was sitting in the balcony, I saw four or five guys get escorted out by plain-clothed security. This is still my favorite place to see a band in Orlando. Not only do they book great acts (case in point: 10/27/10 Massive Attack and Thievery Corporation) no matter who you're there to see, you will in fact be able to both see and hear them, very well. Drinks are pricey, but you can purchase a plastic mug that will cut the cost of draft beer and double liquor cocktails. You can also reuse your cup from show to show... just remember to bring it back with you! What sucks about this venue is the getting here. Of course the only real option is the Universal Parking lot, but there's no quick and easy access. It is on the far end of the lake, so you have to walk around to get to it. read more

Overall: Great venue, once you get there. Hard Rock Live is located in Universal City Walk so you have to pay to park. If you park before 8pm it is $15, after $3. I remember when it used to be free after 6pm. After parking and walking to the venue, you have to wait outside to enter. I really don't mind waiting outside, but it was raining the night my friend and I went. I went inside to ask if we could use the side entrance because I remember using this entrance previously. The woman guarding the entrance said with an attitude, "Do you need something?" LOL, no I just wanted to talk to you honey. So I asked her if this entrance was open because it was pouring outside. Guess what she said, she said I will have to go outside. Gee thanks. So we waited for about 30 minutes in the rain and headed straight to the bar once we got in. We both got doubles for $12 each with a reusable plastic cup and the refills were $6 each. Not bad. The venue is great, as other Yelpers have noted. Everywhere you stand you can see and hear everything on stage. I have seen a lot of concerts/comedians here so I am sure I will be back. read more
