My kids favorite place in all of Epic Universe ... But I do have to note he's a dragon kid! The theming here is straight out of How to Train your Dragon, it makes you feel like you are in the movie. The viking plater while around 50$ at time of posting is perfect for sharing with a group, plus they have kid friendly options that come in its own ship! For dessert try Stormflys Catch of the day! Kiddo had to have it twice during the trip, again being a dragon kid! Also shout out to the staff, they really came through for checking on a family members allergy accommodation when ordering one of the sandwiches, as well our app goofed and sent in that we ordered two of something but had only ordered one. They helped take care of it with no issues!
Mead hall was one of the more well themed restaurants in Universal Epic from the design to the food itself. It's a little expensive but it's to be expected with theme parks. 3.8/5 The exterior and main entrance of the Hall were extremely well themed and a delight to look at. The exterior in particular had a grand entrance and was great to walk through. I will say the initially hallway was a little dark but it did suit the overall vibe of walking into a giant pub in a hill. The interior was also well themed as a viking pub or food hall with nice ambient lighting. We didn't wait too long to be seated as a party of two but it was a little frustrating that the mobile order system was down so the servers and cashiers were a little more rushed and less organized since everything was manually inputted. The cashier and staff at the counter were a little curt with us but I'm sure its because the staff were overwhelmed; however, it did leave me feeling a little frustrated as I wanted to ask for a water cup, but the staff were talking on their own and ignoring me even though I made eye contact. I'm sure service is much better when they aren't overwhelmed. The waitress however was kind and very helpful. I did feel bad that they were overwhelmed with their entire pos/mobile order system was down. We got the yaknog first and it came in a cute toothless/HTTYD cup. It was a thick chocolate malt that was too sweet personally and I wouldn't get it again. There was a little too much whip cream as well so the end of the drink was even less enjoyable. Definitely needed water with it and for $6.99, a skip for me. It was nice to try a themed drink though. The $50 thawfest platter was huge and came with a lot of different meat types. I know this is to be enjoyed with multiple people but my sister and I devoured this whole plate besides the fries. It is a decent bite of food and we were stuffed till late at night. The sausages were quite yummy and juicy. The chicken was grilled perfectly and fell off the bone. This was my favorite bite and I would eat it again. The salmon was too salty though it wasn't a bad bite. The garlic was a nice touch but definitely needed less salt. We didn't really eat the vegetables as we don't like onions and grilled carrots. I did like how it came with sauce though i would've like more. The fries were okay and we also left those on the plate. Overall, it was a decent meal and the interior was nice and cozy. Definitely a little expensive but to be expected with theme park food.
You really can't miss Mead Hall in the Isle of Berk in the How to Train Your Dragon section of EPIC Universe. It's the really tall structure you can see throughout this whole section of the Park. When we walked inside around lunchtime, we were told to wait in a short line while they found us a table. In less than 5 minutes, a host escorted us to a table and then told us to order via the Universal Studios app and scan the QR code on our table and the food would be delivered right us. This was actually very simple and easy to do. The inside of the Hall does make you think you are in a medieval castle and there are nods to How to Train Your Dragon in all the statues and tapestries. We looked over the menu on the app and then did a mobile order. I got Hiccup's Grilled Salmon and a Coke Freestyle drink and my husband got the Berserker's Meatballs and a Coke Freestyle drink. I then scanned the QR code and the app entered in our table number. Relatively quickly, a server came by with our drink cups. I went up and got our drinks at the 3 Freestyle machines along one side of the hall. I got my husband a Coke Zero while I got a Cherry Fanta. A bit later, another server brought our two platters. The meatballs were like the Swedish meatballs you get at IKEA, although a little softer. Also, I didn't think the gravy was as flavorful as IKEA's. But, the smashed root vegetables were really tasty. My salmon was amazing! Perfectly cooked, really good flavor from the sauce, delicious. The sides were great, too. The carrots were soft, but not too soft, and the roasted potatoes were yummy. I would definitely get the salmon dish again.
This is located within the Isle of Berk, How to Train Your Dragon world within Epic universe. You go inside and if you want to order drinks go to the right to the counters. The inside is a large circle room with fun decor on the inside. If you're coming for food, pick a table and order from the QR code/App. We came in at 11am for an earlier lunch and food came out within 5 minutes of ordering! We noticed the staff were very quick at cleaning off the tables when people left. We shared the Thawfest Platter ($49.99, $53.24 with taxes), which was large and enough for two hungry adults to share. The platter includes 3 lollipop chicken in a wild berry BBQ sauce, salmon, sausages, fries with a dill seasoning (our favorite fries in the park!), carrots, grilled onions and came with sauces of bbq sauce, ketchup, pickled cucumber slices and horseradish dill creme fraiche. Inside there is no bathroom, closest is outside and to the right.
We stopped at Mead Hall during an crazy storm at Epic. We arrived just in time before the crowd, our food was fresh and the Nordic fries were delicious. My family loved the burger and I loved the mead wine. Our family are huge fans How To Train Your Dragon and the interior exterior decor was great. This was a nice option other than usual fried food within a theme park.
The salad is amazing. It's got a lot going on. Oats. Kale. Walnuts. Blueberries. Radishes. Red cabbage. So many tastes and textures. I'd order this again and again. It's quick service, and the staff is super helpful. The decor is very on theme. I think this was one of my favorite bites in Epic Universe

My friend had the Sullen sea sandwich which was just ok. The ancient grains were really hard and not edible. They have freestyle machines for your soda choice.

The tables are locked down with QR codes so you order everything through the Universal app. It's a strange mix of theme‑park chaos and modern efficiency, but it works. We went for the sausage links and the meatballs. Straightforward, hearty plates that won't change your life but absolutely hit the spot. Nothing flashy, nothing trying too hard, just good, tasty food served in a space that feels alive and loud and a little ridiculous in the best way.
Mead hall is the great dining hall at the back of Isle of Berk inside Epic Universe. It's themed to a grand dining hall, where vikings would gather and celebrate. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Universal always does their theming so well. It really feels like I've stepped into the past when walking in. This establishment, like many of the other restaurants within Epic Universe, has an option for mobile ordering. You just order your food on the Universal app and scan the QR code on your table. I wanted to eat like a Viking so I went with something meaty. I found the turkey wings a unique dish, especially for theme park food. Our server brought it to us within about 10 mins. These wings are gigantic! I was expecting it to be bigger than chicken wings but wow! They were almost the size of my forearm. The wings, along with the barbeque sauce were excellent. The skin was a little crispy and the wings were not dry. The dish came with a baked potato, onions, and carrots. These were just as good as the wings. I'll warn you, you might get your hands dirty eating these, but that's okay. We're vikings here! I will definitely be back for the yaknog!
Mead Hall is visually stunning and absolutely nails the fantasy. The Isle of Berk area is enchanting, immersive, and honestly one of the prettiest spaces in Epic Universe. You feel transported the second you walk in. Now... the service. Or rather, the idea of service. There are no waiters, no napkins, and the app meant to replace human interaction was completely useless. You're mostly on your own, Viking-style. Food was hit or miss. The turkey wings were chewy and tough. The carrot hash was a lot of chilly hash and too much carrot. Potatoes were good, comforting, and reliable. Meatballs were solid and enjoyable. Salmon was the size of a deck of cards, but not overcooked. Despite the operational chaos, it was still a good time. The atmosphere does most of the heavy lifting here, a nice and cool respite and it's strong enough that you forgive a lot. Mead Hall is more about vibes than dining excellence, magical setting, uneven execution, but still worth experiencing at least once just to soak it all in. Beautiful place. Questionable logistics. Still glad we went.
As I mentioned in previous reviews we were very impressed with the food at Epic Universe, but of all the lands the food at How to Train your Dragon really stands out. Mead Hall is the main dining hall in the land and it really takes you back to the Viking era, with the lighting in the hall feeling like it's candle light. For the main meal we ordered their Hooligan's sausage links. The smoked sausage were very tasty and texture had the right snap. The sides included herb garlic miniature potatoes and roasted veggie. For dessert my daughter was dying to try the Stormfly's Catch of the day which is a chocolate mousse fish on top of cereal crumble. The mousse is encased in an orange sweet shell and the mousse was delicious while the crumble had fruity pebbles flavor. The whole family enjoyed the food and ambience of the Mead Hall!

It was easy to order online app and get the food. We did end up getting the order about 5 minutes after the app said order received. So I got a little worried that maybe they had dropped it off to the wrong table but it ended up at our table. The burger was a little undercooked for my liking. I really like the pickles on it though. If they sold just the pickles at the side I would absolutely buy it. So good! Especially after being outside sweating all day. Inside is really immersive. Feels like you're eating in a viking hall. From the tapestry on the walls to the giant chandelier it looks cool inside. read more

Like many of the sit down eateries you will see in EPIC this one is done so so well. It was part of Berk Universe and was so so well done. So much detail went into every part of this restaurant that I felt immersed in the land. We opted to sit in the back where there were two high back chairs and a bench and it was so cool. For the food I ordered the turkey wings and OMG so good! They had a bbq glaze that was just enough and so tasty. I tore my wings up! My sons had the salmon and the ohter had a kids burger and kids mac and cheese bites and nothing was left on their plates. It wasn't freezing in here either as some of the restaurants are themed that way in Dark Universe. The staff was prompt and friendly. Really nothing bad to say about this place! read more

This place is for those who want to be a Viking for the day! An amazing experience and ambiance! We came in with a large group of 13 and were seated pretty quickly after being asked if we could split the group, which we didn't mind at all. We mobile ordered on the app and our food came out quickly. We tried many dishes on the menu, and everything was super delicious and for a reasonable price. I had to try the mead, which was so yummy and fun that they went with a boysenberry and black currant mead instead of the traditional type. After being outside in the cold, some sausage links and mead really hit the spot. If you really love the How to Train Your Dragon universe, this is THE spot to eat! It's more than just theme park food, it's an experience that truly immerses you in the world of Berk. So happy that we chose to eat here! read more

The theming of this dining hall is spot on. It makes you feel like Vikings living in Berk gathering for a meal. We ordered the Thawfest Plater & Yaknog drink. It's too much food for the 2 of us. It would've been perfect for 3 people. Taste wise, it's standard, nothing bad. Wish the sausage has mozzarella inside. The drumstick tastes better when dip in the bbq sauce. The pesto on the salmon def makes it taste better. You can either mobile order and say you're here, or get a table then order from the QR code. They'll bring the food to your table. As a fan of How To Train Your Dragon, I'm glad I went eat here. read more

Themed after "How to Train Your Dragon" movie, the restaurant fully immerses you in the Viking world of Berk, with dramatic decor and a lively atmosphere that makes you feel like you've stepped into the movie. We ordered the Turkey Wing Platter, which came with a full-sized potato, roasted carrots, and onion. The turkey wing was a bit overcooked, but still had decent flavor and paired well with the hearty sides. We also tried the Sausage Platter, which came with the same accompaniments. Both dishes were surprisingly tasty--better than I expected for a theme park meal. The portions were generous, and the rustic presentation added to the immersive experience. It's clear that the designers put a lot of thought into making the space feel authentic and fun. I was apprehensive about food options when going to Epic because I was traveling with kids, some of which are picky eaters. I did not think we'd end up here after looking at the menu but the kids wanted to try it. Got seated very quickly and placed our order through the app. The kids decided to share the Thawfest platter and I was so proud of them for trying different things!! It has chicken drumsticks, salmon, sausage links, carrots, Nordic fries and onions plus sauces. Neither kids wanted the onions but that was ok. Nobody was a fan of the Nordic fries because the seasoning tasted like maybe dill pickles?? If that's your thing you will love them. But they enjoyed all the meats and ate until they were full. Several adults could have easily shared this. I got the Berserkers meatballs wanting them to be like Ikeas in the best way and they were!!
