Tried this place for the first time and overall had a pretty ok experience. The flavor of the food was great. I ordered the quesadillas and they came out hot and fresh, which is always a plus. Definitely a solid choice if you're looking for something quick and tasty. I also tried the dulce de leche churros. They weren't exactly my favorite, but I'm still glad I gave them a try. It's always fun sampling something new on the menu. The service could have been a little better, especially since the spot wasn't busy at the time. Nothing terrible, but it didn't feel very attentive. Overall, I'd come back again for the food because the flavor was definitely there. Mexican Camel in Florida offers plenty of parking, so getting there is easy and stress-free. The interior is pretty standard for a fast-food chain, but that's not why I stopped by in the first place. What caught my attention was the concept itself--the fusion of Arabic and Mexican cuisine sounded intriguing. It was late when I visited, and the staff seemed a bit low on energy, as if one foot was already out the door for the night. On top of that, the music was playing so loudly that it was difficult to hear--or place--an order. Since our senses do play a role in how we experience food, I asked if they could turn the music down, which they kindly did. That said, I didn't come for the music anyway , but for the food--so don't let that part kill your mood. The burrito was enormous, packed with vegetables, sauces, and steak. Unfortunately, the steak was on the chewy side; I'm still waiting for the day when steak in a burrito truly melts and slides through your mouth--and this wasn't quite it. The price was also a bit higher than what I'm used to for this type of food. It was completely empty on a late Friday afternoon and as soon as we walked in, we were greeted with the strong smell of old mop water. Despite being empty, the service was also rude and borderline dismissive. Fresh, Fresh, Fresh Reminds me of a Chipotle with how you can build your own bowl, but has several other "base" options you don't see there. Plus there are many more toppings available. So much better! You walk through a line of options as they build your meal, or you can order one of the 9 prearranged meals shown on the board. They give you plenty of food Prices range from $11 to $16 for most entrees with $12 being the average. My rice base was so fresh I could have just kept eating rice by itself with the cilantro sauce they recommended. Everything else I added was fresh and just right. I have a new Mexican place when I'm in the International Drive area. Drinks are not Pepsi or Coke, but an alternative. With prices so high I passed on this. You dispense your own. Ambiance, hopefully you like crazy camels because it's their theme. It's fun. It's crazy. They keep the place clean (although not sure why there was a long cleaning tool laying on the bar-height table in the middle of the dining room, you can see the head of it in my picture). Great burrito, had 1 Steak and 1 chicken! Visiting from VA. Customer service was alright, I believe there was a slight language barrier but it's okay. The food could've been warmer but it was like less than an hour before they closed when we arrived so that could've contributed to that. I've been having lunch at the Mexican camel for years now, and it's been consistently good. Maybe once or twice the food has been off, but I usually like to bring friends here who haven't been. The way I explain it to them is that it's like a Chipotle but with Mediterranean options added. So you can do a Mexican bowl, or a Greek bowl, or mix those up. They have salads and other items, too. Sometimes the music is way too loud inside, and the amount of rice they give you is a bit too much, but overall it's been good value and friendly service. Definitely come check them out in the future if you're near the area, as I. don't think there are other locations that I know of. My favorite thing to get here is a high protein salad, with chicken, black beans, guacamole, salsa, and maybe some cheese. The reviews for this place are BS. It's Chipotle style (it's just like a CAVA ) but the meats are not fresh they are just reheated old meats . I visited on a Friday for lunch it was empty and that should have been my first sign but I tried it anyway based on the great reviews. The meat looked dry and old and tasted like it too. So I am visiting and my hotel was approximately half a mile away and this selection comes as close as chipotle as it gets and I was not disappointed. You can either choose from Mexican or more of a Mediterranean selection. I went with the Mexican and he did not disappoint. The customer service was also really great. This secret hole in the wall place is incredible! The food is packed with flavor served up with so many varieties that cater to meat eaters and vegans is ohhhh so yummy. The service was excellent, honest and professional. I had the lamb on a pita with the choice of 10 (yes, 10) toppings as options. I am a big fan of The Mexican Camel, and it's one of my favorite places to eat near Universal Orlando Resort. They have amazing vegan and vegetarian options as well! The service is always great, and they have a lot of seating inside and outside. I always get the build-your-own-bowl, and no matter what combination I choose, it's always delicious. The food is very fresh, and they have a lot of toppings to choose from. The portion size is fantastic and they always pack the bowl. I was welcomed by a homeless man on the outside in a rough shape asking for money which was too intimidating for me as a girl walking up in the evening. Chipotle but 1000x better. At first, I came here with expectations that it would be like every other overhyped mexican place serving mediocre food. This might be the best bowl place I have ever been to. Portions were incredibly generous--not even simply the bowl itself but when I asked for a tortilla on the side, they gave me one the size of my head AND heated it up. Amazing. Food was delicious, no joke. All the ingredients tasted homemade and like it was cooked with love. I took one bite and told my dad that I would choose this place over Chipotle any day. My wife and I were finishing up a quick trip to Orlando and wanted lunch before we hit the road back to Tampa. The Mexican Camel offered up quick, tasty and filling food with a twist. This place is unique. A Mexican-Mediterranean fusion restaurant. It's not what you would expect but it works. Ingredients such as rice, veggies, meat and other things can be interchanged and that's what I got. I tried the Pita lamb fusion. This pita packet was stuffed with Greek braised lamb, lettuce, pickled onions, tzatziki and pico de gallo for that latin flair. My wife opted for the chicken fusion bowl. This dish had Greek grilled chicken, cilantro lime rice, chickpeas, grilled fajitas, lettuce, pica de gallo and a cilantro lime garlic sauce. This was reminiscent of other place we've been but with the added fusion flair, it kicked it up a notch. We sat down in the mostly empty restaurant and are our food in peace. It was good and we would definitely recommend if you're in the area. Another nice thing was that Yelp offered a free dessert with check-in. We got mini churros that were stuffed with caramel. The amateur might scoff at the prospect of a Mexican-Halal fusion, but my son and I were intrigued and took the opportunity to try it out. Not gonna lie. The Mexican Camel concept confused me when I read Mexican/Mediterranean fusion, but somehow it works. Yes, this place leans a little more into the Mexican part of their name, replicating concepts from other build-a-meal down the line restaurants, but has enough Mediterranean options to satisfy divided houses. Price wise, they're pretty fair, with the average meal coming in around $14. Of course drinks and extras add on fast. The food is always good, although sometimes late you may want to go with a second option protein because sometimes they look like they've sat a while. Don't sleep on their juices! They have delicious selection that changes. This fast-food style stop is one of the few locally owned outposts on IDrive, even tho the artwork and look may seem otherwise. This location is located on International Drive near the outlets. If you are coming from I-4 you have to turn and then go around the back to find it. It can be a little difficult to locate. But it is in a small shopping center on the corner. We have never been here before but this has a Chipotle, Bolay vibe. It is a create your own and can go either Mexican or Mediterranean. My husband and I got different items. He went with one of their signature items and I chose to create my own nachos. I was unsure of the braised lamb but the guy behind the counter was so friendly, he asked if I wanted to taste it. I really appreciated him asking if I wanted to sample as other places never do that. I chose the braised lamb so my bowl went the Mediterranean route. We also ordered falafels and the baklava. I asked for hummus sauce on the side and I really don't know what it was, but it was like a blended hummus and it was delicious!!! I really enjoyed my nachos, and my husband enjoyed his bowl. The falafels were hot and made fresh, they were crispy and delicious. You start with with your option, bowl, nachos, pita, burrito, etc. and then can add rice and beans. I normally do not enjoy beans at all but they had chickpeas as well. I have never seen it before and really appreciated it to have that as well. I really think that is a nice feature besides just black beans and pinto beans. The restaurant itself is a little smaller but lots of tables both inside and outside. You can also get it to go and delivery. They had music playing which gave it a fun upbeat vibe. My only suggestion would be to add little tags with the names of the toppings. There are so many things to chose from but you cant tell what everything is especially the sauces. If they had little tags telling you it would help a lot. This location is not really near us but it is near Universal which we do go to, so it will definitely be a location we return to. I already know what I will order next time. And a third had spicy shrimp on a salad. I, on the other hand, went far afield, and had nacho chips topped with Chicken Tinga. Everyone really enjoyed their selections, so there were no wrong choices! One thing that really stood out to me was the friendliness of the two servers working behind the counter.
