Joseph Lopez denied a veteran his military honors because he didn't want to make a phone call. My…read moregrandfather passed away and when his son and wife went to make funeral arrangements, they informed Mr. Lopez that he had served 8 years in the military. At this point Mr.Lopez let them he would not qualify for military honors and he had 20+ years experience on the business. His experience alone being the only deciding factor of my grandfathers military honors did not sit well with me. So I called the military scheduling department and they put me in touch with JBSA (local air force who perform military honors). They walked me through filling out the applicariony and the paperwork I needed to turn in so they could verify if he qualified. A few hours later they called back and verified he did qualify, scheduled the burial date and walked me through how to obtain a burial flag. I picked up flag from my local post office and dropped off at the funeral home. I also spoke to Mr.Lopez 6 days before the burial to verify he received the flag and understood honors had been secured. At no point did he offer his condolences or apologies for not initiating the application himself. The day of the burial, when arriving to the church, the flag was no where to be found. The funeral home representative that was there informed me that military honors was not on his schedule for the day and the flag was at the funeral home. The gentleman did send someone back to retrieve the flag and it was there by the time church ceremony was over. And guess what, the detail performing the honors were waiting at the cemetery. Mr. Bobby saved the epic mess Mr. Lopez created and ultimately fumbled twice. Once by not making the initial phone call and again by not putting it on the schedule even after the flag was delivered. I hope the next veteran entrusted with Mr.Lopez is treated with more respect and dignity. At the very least i hope he finds time to make the phone call to very benefits for the grieving family instead of just taking their large check.

One need only to walk through and see absolute quality. They will be doing my headstone. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to prepare your affairs and get your plots so you can get your headstone placed now. Their date of death etching is done on site. Some places want to pick your stone up which is just another way to rip you off. They are sincere, thoughtful and a 3rd gen family run business. I can't say enough good things about STM. JJ

Everyone was very accommodating, helpful, and did their best to make things as easy as possible for us. The facility is small, but it is clean, comfortable, and already set up very nicely, so we really only needed to bring in a few personal touches. They also have a separate seating area where family can sit, have coffee, and eat small snacks, which was appreciated. The staff was very helpful throughout the evening, even helping us with things like making coffee and getting settled. Our biggest issue was with the video/slideshow setup. To be fair, they did let us know ahead of time that we could come in the day before to test the video and recommended bringing it on a USB drive. Unfortunately, even when they transferred the video to one of their own USB drives, it still would not play on their system. We also tried other options, including a direct connection and a DVD that was burned in their office, without success. We ultimately had to bring in a projector in order to show the memorial video. The staff continued trying to help us troubleshoot everything, which we appreciated, but I would definitely recommend that families planning to use a memorial video test it ahead of time and have a backup option available. Aside from that issue, everything went very smoothly. Their pricing was reasonable, and the deacon they recommended was wonderful. He had a very warm, comforting presence and handled the service beautifully. We appreciated the care, flexibility, and kindness shown to our family and were pleased with the service overall.
