Spruce Moose Lodge & Cottages

Spruce Moose Lodge & Cottages

Leon and Nellie have been friends of my family for years (even longer than the decades we've been…read morecoming to New Hampshire), but somehow we'd never stayed at the Spruce Moose. Even without the familial connection, I'd be absolutely in love with this place. Family and friends gathered this past weekend for a memorial hike in honor of my dad, who passed in 2007. Leon and Nellie went out of their way to accommodate us, down to even offering additional rooms when some extra guests appeared and getting up extra early to make us to-go egg sandwiches we could take long on our hike up Mt. Washington. Both our group and the other guests at the Inn were treated like treasured friends in their home and it felt like a big old family reunion for us all. The Spruce Moose is the perfect location---a short walk to the adorable North Conway village, and a quick drive to countless hiking options. The decor makes you feel like you're visiting friends in a luxurious mountain home. Zeb and Avery, the two trusty labs, greet you at the door and will cuddle you on the couch for hours if you let them. The beds are comfy, and the rooms contain no tvs so you can truly enjoy the nature around you (though there IS wi-fi if you need your technology fix). Breakfast in the morning is delicious and filling. Tea and coffee are available at any time. It was an amazing weekend, in no small part to Leon and Nellie. I will be back to the Spruce Moose the next time I come to North Conway!

Avery and Jed are the most welcoming doggies, I was only with them for one night and I miss them terribly. The breakfast was excellent, coffee and tea are available all the time. My room was beautiful, the shower had great water pressure, and the lodge itself is super warm and cozy. I honestly felt like I was visiting relatives I just hadn't met yet.

We chose to sit in the living room where the records were playing out of. And the cocktail menu was unique and amazing. We took in the room and the vibe. It was lovely. The Munch paintings on the wall. The books casually laid about that were epic flip throughs. Then the tastings. We moved back up our assigned table and we were served like 10 different tastings. It started with oysters, then vegetables, a fish pairing, more vegetables from their garden, and another meat and three deserts! Now without getting into specifics it was full of local flavors so exquisitely combined. We didn't even do the alcohol pairings, but the food stood alone. It was fabulous. The chef did an amazing job. If you get a chance, the service, the environment, the drink, and the food was amazing. Highly recommend!!!

We went for one of their winter dinners and treated ourselves to an overnight stay. Highly recommend! The meal was coursed (9? 10?) courses, showcasing local farms and produce. It was so creative, worth the money and an experience that my husband and I still talking about. The scallop with the apple and smoked garlic, along with the goat stew with sunshine squash were top favorites for us. All courses were presented on thrifted tableware, curated perfectly. The next morning, after we took our time waking up after a deep sleep, we sauntered over to breakfast where our crepes were freshly made and the coffee kept coming. It was one of my favorite dinner experiences of all time. Can't wait to go back!

Once we found Bayview Cabins, we were hooked! Our family continues to grow, so we each get a cabin. We ALL look forward to our vacation here every year. The owners Steve & Sherri make us all feel so comfortable, genuinely sweet people who work hard at keeping the place up. This summer my mother & I decided to take my 90yr old grandmother, who is wheelchair bound, away for a mini- vacation. From the moment we arrived, I was blown away at how handicap accessible Steve & Sherri had made our cabin (12 A&B). Steve came right outside, got wheelchair chair ramps for us, had already put up handicap handles in the shower and on the toilet. Each cabin I've been in, is always so clean. So neat. They have cute signs up that make them feel "homey". And my Gram especially liked the hanging plant in front of our cabin. Me & my entire family HIGHLY recommend this getaway!!!

This place was SOO convenient to everything around, several restaurants, shops and bars are in walking distance. The dock area is really nice and everyone seemed laid back, although there were kids running around, they didn't bother us. They provided a paddle boat, a row boat, a canoe and several tubes for us, which was really nice. The main building has an ice machine and free coffee. Only briefly interacted with the owner Steve, but everything went smoothly. The house itself was perfect for the two of us, the bed was comfy and the AC was strong enough.

The main part of the house is very small but nice with little stocking of the beverage "amenities". First impression of the room was disappointing for several reasons but the main first impression was that it was not cleaned well nor do the owners care if it's cleaned well. The bathroom was the first real impression where a filthy shower mat hung on the towel rack, the hand towel had crust on it and a dried, unwashed blood stain on the comforter. iTrip, who is "managing" this place was very prompt about returning my emails UNTIL I responded to THEIR email asking about my stay. Warning - Under New Ownership!! Please read about the changes…read more We booked the Red Sleigh Inn seven months ago because we were planning a trip to the area and we love B&Bs and have stayed at many. What attracted us to this facility was its outstanding reputation. However, exactly one week (7/11/22) before we were supposed to arrive, we received an email that Red Sleigh was under new ownership and there were going to be changes. We could not cancel because it was less than 30 days. Here are the changes: 1. Nobody would be at the facility to greet you. Nope, no personal friendly greeting to welcome you like we were used to in the past. They sent you a passcode for the front door and your room. You have to call a property managing company if there is an issue. 2. You receive ONE set of towels per person for stay. We stayed three days and originally only got one washcloth, one hand towel, and one bath towel per person, until we complained and we each got a second set. 3. NO BREAKFAST ANYMORE!!! I guess they left off one B in B&B. They did give us a voucher of $20 a day for the Moon Cafe to get a small breakfast. I do not know if this service is going to continue. We got it because we booked before the change. The room was clean. There was a coffee station and candy station which were kept full by attendants who showed up daily to clean vacated rooms. If you like the AirBnB experience while sharing the facility with other couples, then by all means enjoy. We prefer the true B&B experience with the home cooked breakfast and somebody there to greet you.

The breakfast was so good. We had so many things to eat and everything was delish. Mariah also directed us to a local running trail that was very close by - which was perfect for us (even tho it was raining). Lastly - we met so many awesome people that were also staying there from all over the world. Had great conversations at night and also the next morning at breakfast.
