Leon and Nellie have been friends of my family for years (even longer than the decades we've been coming to New Hampshire), but somehow we'd never stayed at the Spruce Moose. Even without the familial connection, I'd be absolutely in love with this place. Family and friends gathered this past weekend for a memorial hike in honor of my dad, who passed in 2007. Leon and Nellie went out of their way to accommodate us, down to even offering additional rooms when some extra guests appeared and getting up extra early to make us to-go egg sandwiches we could take long on our hike up Mt. Washington. Both our group and the other guests at the Inn were treated like treasured friends in their home and it felt like a big old family reunion for us all. The Spruce Moose is the perfect location---a short walk to the adorable North Conway village, and a quick drive to countless hiking options. The decor makes you feel like you're visiting friends in a luxurious mountain home. Zeb and Avery, the two trusty labs, greet you at the door and will cuddle you on the couch for hours if you let them. The beds are comfy, and the rooms contain no tvs so you can truly enjoy the nature around you (though there IS wi-fi if you need your technology fix). Breakfast in the morning is delicious and filling. Tea and coffee are available at any time. It was an amazing weekend, in no small part to Leon and Nellie. I will be back to the Spruce Moose the next time I come to North Conway! read more

The Spruce Moose is far and away the best B&B I have ever stayed in. I wasn't planning on going back to New Hampshire but Nellie and Leon made me feel so welcome that I want to go just so I can stay there again with them. Avery and Jed are the most welcoming doggies, I was only with them for one night and I miss them terribly. The breakfast was excellent, coffee and tea are available all the time. My room was beautiful, the shower had great water pressure, and the lodge itself is super warm and cozy. I honestly felt like I was visiting relatives I just hadn't met yet. read more

What a pleasant surprise. Came up to north Conway on a whim and stumbled on this place. One room available (not exactly what we wanted) but for the price and on a crowded holiday weekend we couldn't pass it up. Room is adequate sized with a private 3,/4 bath in the main house. Spruce Moose Lodge & Cottages - Bed & Breakfast Near Me - North Conway, New Hampshire

I had such a wonderful time during my stay here! We rented the Spruce Moose House, a charming Victorian house directly adjacent to the main lodge. This house is perfect for a larger group or a family (it can sleep up to 12), and a very good deal for what you get. If you rent the house, you will enjoy the hospitality of a Bed and Breakfast, but with ample space and privacy that comes with renting a house. The location is perfect, too. Just a 10-minute walk to downtown North Conway, but set back in a quiet neighborhood. The owner, Nellie, could not be sweeter! She (and her dog Jed) welcomed us with a tour of the house and made us feel right at home. The house and lodge are very welcoming to dogs - but if you're not a dog lover I would not let this deter you from staying here. The house and grounds were meticulously clean and perfectly quiet. Spent 3 days in the Pierce Cottage during Thanksgiving week. Very charming, cozy, and toasty cabin with enough space for me + my two dogs. Quiet location near the center of North Conway's main street, 5 minute walk to local shops and restaurants, and about a 10 minute drive to scenic hikes near Echo Lake and Diana's Bath. Wi-fi was fast enough for streaming and downloading movies. Nellie and Leon are very friendly and clearly put a lot of care and effort into maintaining their property and helping guests feel welcome. I will probably be back sometime! read more

A well hidden gem in the heart of town. Quiet, welcoming, accommodating, friendly and cozy. If you are looking for a getaway from the noise and grind of driving and need some quiet time, this is well worth the turn off the main road. My boyfriend (now fiancee!) and I stayed here this past weekend, for a short getaway to the moutains. He chose this place because they allow dogs but only in certain rooms/cottages- it's $10/night per dog- and family recently had a great experience there as well. We stayed in a cottage (the Smith cottage), and it was just like a home away from home: eat-in kitchen with full-size fridge and microwave, 3/4 bathroom, one bedroom, a living room area, and window air-conditioners. There was also a gas fireplace in the corner of the living room, which I'm sure would be nice and cozy during winter! The kitchen had plates, cups, pots, and pans- anything you need in a home away from home kitchen. The only thing that was missing was cleaning supplies, which surprised me because it was a cottage allowing dogs. In the bathroom, they were generous with towels and facecloths, had great shampoo and soap, and even had a travel-size tube of Crest toothpaste. They also have cable TV, free wifi with the password available in the room, and DVDs in the main lodge. They also offer breakfast for those staying in the main lodge. When we arrived (they ask that you are arrive before 8pm), we were warmly greeted by the owners and their three dogs in the main lodge (which looked like the inside of the cabin!). The wife (I'm horrible with names so please forgive me) gave us the run-down on the place and surrounding areas, suggested places to eat, and showed us the map of North Conway. They were both so welcoming and made you feel comfortable instantly. It's also located on a road that's not too busy, so walking the dog on adjoining streets was quiet and quite enjoyable. On one walk, I discovered that the lodge is right around the corner from Cranmore Mountain! Overall, this place was great. If you need 5-stars with pomp, you're probably better off at the Mt. Washington Hotel... but if you want a comfortable homey feel for your getaway- especially if you love dogs- this is the place to be! Stay tuned for pictures.. read more

Nellie and Leon (and all three of their four legged minions) create the vibe of this fantastic hidden get-a-way, which is with-in walking distance of the Cranmore Mountain Area. The inn is close to the center of town, but far enough away so that the inn is nice and quiet. Nellie and Leon were excellent hosts and attended to every need. I had requested that my room be kept cool (I visited in early March) and they adjusted the radiator in my room well before I arrived so that the temperature was perfect from the first night on. I was going on an outing early one morning and Nellie made me breakfast to go. So thoughtful. The room was clean, had no TV (which I liked very much), strong shower with good hot water, and to top it off, my bed was extremely comfortable. The trio of dogs are calm, well behaved and friendly. Came here to get away for the night as a couple, place was cute and clean. We are morning people, but the constant Barking and growling start at 7 am was a little inconsiderate. We are animal lovers, but we were guest getting away. This wasn't normal morning noises, people chatting and eating.. It would have been nice to get an extra hour of sleep before our long ride home. I'm surprised the innkeepers allowed this so early in the morning. Maybe next time they could wait at least till 8 am to bring in all the noise. Not very mindful to the guest. read more

My husband and I wanted a weekend away and he suggested the Spruce Moose. What a lovely little place. Nellie and Leon were accommodating and made sure all our needs were met. Their dogs are adorable and I appreciated that they were well behaved. The breakfasts both mornings we were there were delicious.......apple pancakes made with apples from their tree the first morning and a delicious veggie quiche on the second morning. Our room was a quaint victorian room that was comfortable and inviting. Thanks for a wonderful stay! We will be back. read more

Leon and Nellie made our July 4th getaway really wonderful! Everyone was very friendly and the breakfast they served was fantastic. What I truly enjoyed about my stay here were the charming details throughout the inn. Our room had a variety of paintings and interesting stories framed on the walls that gave you a bit of local history. They have a fun collection of mugs with silly dog faces and plates with unique floral prints. I'd definitely recommend staying here and can't wait to go back next year. read more
