After sitting in the sauna for 15 to 20 minutes, we stepped outside into 17° winter weather and it was amazing! The staff and the owners, Nicole and Geoff, were all very friendly and accommodating. Our group's favorites were the seasonal creamed spinach, the hot honey burrata salad, and the filet mignon. We tend to be a little particular about food and the meals could not have been better. The owners Leila and Anthony are truly the kindest and most hospitable people I have ever met. From the second we walked into the Inn it truly felt like we were right at home. The Inn itself is beautiful, quaint, charming and very clean. Our room was super cozy and the bed was SO comfortable (I will definitely miss it). The water pressure in the shower was great, which is hard to come by sometimes. The grounds are manicured and so comfortable. I spent hours on the hammock and in the rocking chairs reading and relaxing. What really blew me away was the breakfast and the treats. Anthony preps all the food and is a breakfast and pastries GENIUS. First night we were there they had snickerdoodle whoopee pies with a maple cream cheese filling (individually wrapped to be extra safe and clean) and I may or may not have taken a couple more with me to enjoy later in the evening... The location of the Inn is PERFECT. You are walking distance to Long Lake and a few little shops and minutes away from Lake Sebago. A friend and I were attending a wedding close by and booked a two twin bed room on hotels .com. We…read morearrived and were checked in, went to the room, only to discover it was one full bed. We went back down to the desk to discuss the mistake, and which time they informed us they cut their contract with hotels.com because they kept booking people in rooms not matching accommodations, and they don't even have any rooms with 2 beds (or none available, unclear.). In order for us to stay, we had to book another room that was not ready sight unseen. We were told we would need to speak to hotels.com for a refund. We attempted to get a partial refund from hotels.com and were informed that the hotel said we accepted alternative accommodations. Inn staff also reported they gave us the second room for free, which is also untrue. They refuse to make it right. The rooms were small, the hallway smelled of vomit when we went back to our rooms that night, and the second rooms ac did not work properly. Beware and avoid staying here if you are a group or family unless you'd like to squeeze into tiny rooms and get 0 customer service for a mistake on the Inns end. The worst hospitality experience I've ever had, coming from someone who has worked in and frequented MUCH nicer accommodations. Edit to add: check their reviews outside of google. That is the only place people rave about them, which is super fishy. Update to Anthony: Every part of your response was untrue. That's a shame you feel the need to continue to lie. There were no multiple visitors to our room, we didn't tell you to charge the card you told us you would because you wouldn't fix the error as it was a hotels.com issue, you never mentioned the cooling issue, etc etc etc. if you had been willing to comp the second room (we shouldn't need to tell you we needed two beds, that's what we booked for.) and had not continually lied to hotels.com, this review wouldn't be here.

I can say if you are looking for rustic and basic this is for you. We also thought it was a great price! The layout: The owner lives in the office next to the private beach. The lodge is across the street from the public beach (the lodge has a rec room that everyone can use... piano, foosball table, games, books, etc... My daughter liked it a lot!) There is a road that take you through the property that is lined with cottages. Private beach: has an area roped off just for swimming. There are plastic reclining lawn chairs left out for patrons to use- there were probably about a dozen. Beware- rock city when you enter then you get to sand. They do have 2 canoe's and 2 paddleboats that are available for use plus life jackets too! Added plus! We had the place all to ourselves on an August Saturday morning. Quite pleasant. The cottage we stayed in was a 2 bedroom. The master had a queen bed and we had a small 2nd bedroom with two bunk beds (with really nice mattress'.) My first thought walking in was this place is immaculate! Well kept! We had the basics... beds, fridge, stove, toaster, plates, pans, and towels. It's cozy. We had a nice enclosed deck with a table and a desk. I loved the clothes line- we used it everyday! We also had a charcoal grill available at our cottage. (Don't buy charcoal the owner said lots of people leave it behind so he hooked us up-lighter fluid too!) My suggestion of things to bring: (depending on how long you stay) Garbage bags sponge aluminum foil (helped us a lot in cooking) large knives (to cut/chop with) if you have kids there were no plastic cups I have to tell you if you are looked to be out in the middle of nowhere- this isn't the place for you! The road is really busy even late into the evening. We were on the front porch at midnight and cars were still travelling through- and the headlights hit right into our porch table area. But taking into consideration how close we were to the water and having to carry the kids stuff there- it was good for us to be close. PLUS there is a general store (Gemmes) a very short walk away so it was easy to get there with a child. So we really did like the cottage and it's location. Our only real complaint... the windows are old and swollen frames. The locks on the windows didn't really work. And the room with the most windows... the bunk bed area! I know it's Maine but as a parent I always like safety and security for my child. On top of that- the main cottage door lock did not fit! The owner and his son were quite the duo! Super laid back (literally walks around barefoot all the time) and funny! The son... his hat was on point!

For $80 per night, I can't imagine a better deal. A couple of notes if you are planning a visit: 1) You need to send in a 50% deposit by check to reserve your spot. 2) Don't be put off if you don't get through right away, just leave a message and someone will call you back. 3) USE MAPQUEST TO LOCATE RTL. GOOGLE MAPS HAS IT MARKED INCORRECTLY!!!

The back sliding door is distorted and desperately needs to be replaced. The furniture is ratty and old. The whole place just screams cheap and outdated. The one blanket they provide for you in the closet has a hole in it. The bathroom, although fairly large, is just gross. The toilet moves and it has scratches and dings all in it. The bathroom door has a rot spot on the inside from water damage. I mean, it's just no better than your old college dorm room. I would expect this caliber for maybe half the price of what we paid, but this for certain is not worth the money. I would not recommend if you are looking for something decent for your getaway.
