Needed a 35 foot Juniper removed from the front yard. To complicate matters, the tree was located within my rose and succulent garden. Mr. Hardy and his son came to the house Saturday and bid the job, plus throwing in a major trim on an adjacent Juniper. All for the same price as the previous job they did for me. The son showed up as scheduled Tuesday (with a helper), and got right to work.The tree was removed without disturbing any other plants in any way. Per my request, the stump was cut level to serve as a pedestal to accommodate a large clay pot with more succulents. The remains of the tree were loaded on the truck, the roof was swept clean, and all of the debris from the job was cleaned up. Another excellent job by Hardy's Tree Service. We had to remove a stand of oleanders that were infected with the burnt leaf disease, plus a ficus, and trim two magnolia trees. They were prompt, efficient, and came with the help they needed. They are very nice people. Price was fair. They swept up the debris and left the place tidy. Bruce, the elder, shared insightful pointers on horticulture. Hardy's Tree Service is owned by Bruce Hardy, who is 76 years old and once studied horticulture. His two adult sons and one long time employee do all of the tree trimming and removal. I hired them for a one-day job at my house that required the removal and trimming of about a dozen trees and shrubs. I asked them to come out and give me an estimate because they were local (Clairemont/Baypark), and their ad said that they were licensed and insured. Bruce showed up on-time with his son, and gave a detailed written estimate. They also showed me their proof of insurance. They offered advice and clearly knew what they were doing. The price was reasonable. On the day of the job, they were on-time, and accommodated a couple special requests. The crew (the sons) were professional and polite. They worked hard and they worked fast with different sized chain saws for different tasks. They have their own wood chipper, and I was able to get a pile of mulch from the chipper at the end of the job. They cleaned up thoroughly when they were through. Bruce (the 76 year old father) is enjoyable to talk to while the sons are working. He reads a lot, and showed me how to find north/south direction using nothing but the hands on a watch and the sun. However, we disagree on whether or not you can use a cell phone and remote-control car unlocker to unlock a car by cell phone. He says you can, but I say you can't, and the Mythbusters have shown that you can't. Nevertheless, I never even thought about it before talking to Bruce. Hiring a tree trimmer isn't something most people do a lot of, and it seems like everybody with a chainsaw and an old pickup can claim to be one. However, I think it's worthwhile to have it done right, and I'm glad that I found Hardy's Tree Service. read more

Hardy's came to my house yesterday to trim my 32 yr old chinese elm tree, it was severely overgrown, the "arborist " who trimmed it before insisted that it didn't need much trimming (big mistake) it had become a danger to my home as well as my neighbor next door, it was literally down on the roof of my home, I was fearful that it would damage my roof and fence. Mr Hardy was very honest about it needing a severe trim of several HUGE limbs, we were very happy to have an honest assessment and they did a great job, the tree looks magnificent !! They also trmmed the 15 ft high hedge in my front driveway and it has never looked so good, the crew cleaned up every speck of the trimmings as well as the very large limbs that were now very large logs :) They are family owned and operated and have very reasonable rates, I would highly recommend them. Great Service, Fast and Professional. I contacted several contractors for removal of two medium size trees, and a few short palms that were interfering with the fence. Bryan was prompt in responding to my request to schedule an estimate, and as well as scheduling a time for the tree removal when I decided to go with them. They arrived a bit late on the day work began, but I appreciated that he called to notify me the crew would be arriving late. Large 50+ year old ornamental pear hadn't been trimmed in over 3 years and needed lots of fire blight damage removed. Had used this tree service before but not since father & brother left, however, knew Bryan had always done most of the actual cutting so not worried. He and 2 assistants did great work over 4-5 hrs. The tree now looks wonderful without that 'trimmed, bald' look that so many other services leave behind. It is in a courtyard and overhangs our house. NO broken roof tiles nor damage/marks on courtyard walls. Excellent cleanup. A relatively quiet evolution since there were NO blaring radios and only minimal use of power tools, i.e., lots of hand/pole trimming. We live in the Bay Ho area and at my age, I avoid high places like ladders and hard work like yard work. However, it's hard to afford and find good reliable tree and yard service companies until today. We had a neighbor recommend Hardy's Tree Service and we called then and that day Bryan showed up and estimated the long standing and overgrown yard full of trees and shrubs. Next day (today) Bryan and his co-worker came on time and 2 hours later it was as if the yard had the clock turned back two years and this without a single crum of cuttings left behind. I am so impressed both by the quality of work and by the professionalism of the crew. Bruce and one of his sons came out to the house to give a free estimate a day after I had called them. The appointment was scheduled within a week. I have two big trees in my backyard, a magnolia and a jacaranda, and both trees have been neglected for a while. The crew showed up on time, explained what they were going to trim, and got to work. They did a really thorough job and the trees look very nice. They took the dead branches off every growing thing in my backyard, too. Todd also used some treatment to make the trees healthier. The crew cleaned up all debris. They also were very kind to mow the grass in the back yard and the front yard even though it was not part of the service, and they did it at no charge. Disorganized - We setup a time to meet and they showed up unexpected a day early, then I get a call the day of our appointment saying they had shown - which they had not - just leaving a voice mail to say they couldn't do the job. Its not good business, and disrespectful to waste a persons time like that. Honor your agreement, show up on time, walk the job, then tell me you can't do the work and I'll accept that. Not professional, I could have had another appointment setup for this time slot. read more

The Hardy's are SO NICE and they do amazing work for insanely good prices. They had our HUGE pine tree cut down in literally an hour. It was amazing to watch the guys climb up in the tree with chainsaws and just start taking it apart piece by piece. After the tree was down they ground the stump all the way down (below the surface) and cleaned all the shavings up. It took no time at all. read more

I have been looking for someone to trim our trees for months and I just couldn't find anyone that I felt was honest and dependable with reasonable prices.
