I've been to special screenings, quote alongs, and countless movies. And I'm done. Saw a movie tonight with their new ordering system, terrible recliners, and squeaky tables, and I realized the magic of that place is dead. The online ordering was awful. I paid for everything under 1 order but there was 15 minutes between 1 seat and the other getting items. When I finally got my food the water I ordered didn't arrive until I requested multiple refills through the online system which meant I had to keep my phone on the entire time. I would've felt better if I could've talked to a server but it was a bit chaotic. They were all running around looking a bit overwhelmed and lost. The only way to get help is to request a manager through the website, which felt like overkill. Final straw was realizing that despite paying via credit card when you order, they charge you another 5% (on top of the included 18% service fee) if you don't go back into the order system and close out after the movie ends. I don't want to be a slave to my phone. One of the greatest joys of the Alamo Drafthouse was their strictly enforced no phone policy, but those days are done. When Santikos or AMC tried to introduce fancier food I thought they were poor imitations of the Drafthouse, but now the Drafthouse feels like it dumbed itself down to be a poor imitation of them.

I was unable to order my tickets online. My gift cards showed a balance, but couldn't be used for checkout for unknown reasons. No worries, I'll just go with a less frequented movie that I don't wanna see as much, and wait in your lobby to order tickets for some random poor seats, like we used to do in the old-fashioned days. Once seated the gift cards can't be used to order food. For some reason, Drafthouse requires a credit card to do so within their app. But, you can leave your movie 20 minutes in, and order food from the lobby, and never see the waiter again for things such as refills on drinks or allegedly unlimited popcorn. I won't be buying Drafthouse gift cards from Costco again, because as far as I can tell, they're just some sort of Ponzi scheme to collect my credit card number, name, and other pertinent details. But, I don't think I'll be attending Drafthouse again at all, because gift cards aside their entire thing was providing you a waiter and getting your food during your movie, and they've managed to mess that up entirely.

Dinner Detective is a fun show but there are some problems with execution (pun intended)…read more We made reservations through the website, and that was no problem. The show books up several weeks in advance, so plan ahead. The show is held in the Library room on street level of the Emily Morgan Hotel in downtown San Antonio, right next to Alamo Plaza. Valet parking is $20, but there are cheaper surface lots and garages nearby. The check in process was slow, but it gave us time to size up the other guests--more on that later. Also, you can order drinks from the bar in the lobby and bring them with you into the library . . . that's actually the only way to have a drink with your dinner. When you check in, you choose an alias. There were a lot of "Sherlock," "Holmes," etc. in our audience, as well as some quality puns. The aliases obscure the suspects (actors) among the audience. The cheerful hosts passed out sheets with instructions, investigation questions, and room to take notes. We started talking to our neighbors and got suspicious about the person sitting next to me. Then she jumped out of her chair and the game was on! The fact that she had been mingling with us in the lobby just minutes earlier . . . wow! The actors who played the detectives kept a stream of improv banter going as they called members of the audience up to participate. Improv is often messy, but it seemed as if those two cast members had not been paired up before -- a few dropped cues, etc. Nevertheless, they kept the action moving fast and made the jokes topical. The humor included sexual innuendo -- one of many reasons why the show is not suitable for children. Our table enjoyed ruminating over the clues -- laminated copies of documents that the detectives found in their investigation. After dessert, guests turned in their guesses, and then the detectives did the big reveal. We were intrigued and laughing all the way through. During breaks in the action, the waiters bring courses of dinner: salad, entree, dessert. The default drink is iced tea; I requested water, but didn't get enough refills. The salad was adequate. The fish was billed as "blackened"; rather, it was lightly seasoned, but still palatable. The red velvet cake had good presentation but the cake was dry. Events like this where dozens of people are served at once are a challenge for kitchen. The "dinner" part of "dinner detective" was OK but could have been better. It was an enjoyable experience, but one visit is probably enough. I would recommend it to friends, especially if they enjoy challenges like escape rooms -- the live cast makes Dinner Detective San Antonio even more fun.

Free, ample parking and really quick access to the Museum Reach RiverWalk. Great place to park, meet with a group, and the go strolling down the river!

They offer early voting for the civic minded. The place is picked up, and clean, with a playground for the lil' ones to go crazy on. The parking lot could use some improvement. When things get packed, there's nowhere else to park. They seem to be doing some sort of improvements on the parking facilities, however. So stay tuned. They offer lots of places to stretch out in the sun, or under a giant oak tree. However, I think it's a little against SA's values to prohibit pinatas on the playground!

Servers were good but it took time to get drinks,etc. Prices for drinks were on average and they offered theme cocktails. Fair:. Sound... space was the back area of a large, fun restaurant with no physical separation so our event was interrupted by noise and choruses of 'happy birthday' more than once. The actors tried to compensate for that by scattering themselves around the room and repeating clues/information. Dinner of southern chicken was plentiful... chicken was a little dry but rice was good. Veggies were slightly overcooked but we did not expect great food at the experience. Con: There was a lot of data to process and 2 hours start-finish was simply not enough time. The QR codes to access for the clues was convenient and there was a lot of data to comb through. The main issue was at the end we were told to access the last set of clues and were also told at that time that the QR code was also listed there for submission of our final answer. After reading and processing the final clues we were pulling up the sheet to make our guess, when the actors came out and resolved the mystery for us. Those at my table all agreed they should have given us a 3 minute warning to submit our answers and felt a little left behind as we didn't get to submit our guess and one of our people had the correct answer. Three stars because the whole point of it is to get to solve a mystery and there needs to be time for that. If they adjust a few little things, this will be a great time for all.

We laughed, we clapped, we sang, we booed, "we" as in the whole audience participated in this interactive show. The kids that decided to sit on the floor in the front that night made the show so entertaining with their cheering and chanting... oh their parents taught them well! Legends of the West Dinner Theater is located just north of New Braunfels and just a few miles west of IH 35 off FM 306 & Hoffman Lane, take a left on Rolling Oaks Dr., pass by a few residences all the way down to the end of the road... then you drive right into Triple R Ranch. You pass by the rodeo arena, the stables, the plantation house, to the airport runway for parking. Once parked, you will be directed to the former airplane hanger which has since turned into a dinner theater. We checked in at the door, then stopped by the bar (as of now only beer and wine available), then proceeded to find a table to sit at (seating for 200!). We were told the brave ones sit in the front, so we did! I definitely suggest sitting as close as you can... just do it! Our meal was catered by Harmon's BBQ out of Cibolo which included brisket, chicken, beans, potato salad, all the fixins and iced tea. We walked through the line, then back to or table. The acoustic cowboy sang to us for about an hour for their preshow entertainment. This evening started out beautifully. The show we saw was their seasonal Halloween Spectacular which included a gang of Vampire Old West Outlaws which included my great uncle, the infamous John Wesley Hardin! One of the song and dance numbers was Michael Jackson's Thriller which started the show... it was very well done! Bravo! Ladies were called up to help play a game. Children were called up to become a part of the Vampire gang which also included story telling. The cast really gets the crowd involved in the story line.. we loved every minute of our time at the theater. The producer and main actors have all arrived in the Texas Hill Country after spending many years in California, and around the world, in the entertainment industry. Their long time friendship brought them back together to build this amazing adventure for all of us. We spent some time with them after the show and all are amazing people. Hubby and I are looking forward to seeing their annual Christmas show in Dec as well as their year around shows and events in the future... Went to watch the movie "Michael" with my friends on a Sunday afternoon. We snagged our seats &…read morebegan to order online after scanning in the code. Last time I was here, we ordered from laminated menus & a server took our order by hand. Now your order is designated by your seat number so the order goes straight to the kitchen & I guess a server? Not sure because a server came up to us asking if we were asking about Bloody Marys twice and we told him no. Another one put the iced water on my friend's table even though she hadn't even ordered anything? I don't know where the disconnect is occurring but they need to work it out if this is a brand new system. I ordered my regular Carnivore pizza and saw you could select or omit your ingredients. We couldn't before. Pizza took about 18 minutes and I asked the server for more napkins which he brought later. This new pizza wasn't a thin crust like before and didn't have a zesty sauce as before. I was disappointed because I usually look forward to their thin, crispy pizzas and would consider just ordering that to go if I could. There's an 18% Service Fee added to the check so you don't have to tip at the end. Too bad you can't alter it because the service may be poor? Also, at the end of the movie, they'll text you "WHEN THE FILM ENDS, you have 20 mins to close your tab b4 it auto-closes with 5% tip." WHAT???!! I had my phone on silent so I noticed it when I got to my car & told my friends which they already closed. Both of those reasons I probably won't order a Carnivore pizza again. It was fun while it lasted to have a Mimosa & Pizza. Adding extra "tips" on top of the mandatory "Service Fees" just seems excessive. I can see someone overlooking this after a movie ends if their phone is off, if they have to use the restroom, saying bye to friends, etc. JUST REMEMBER TO CLOSE YOUR TAB BEFORE THE 20 MINUTES ARE UP AFTER THE MOVIE ENDS AND BEWARE OF THE 5% TIP YOU CAN DECLINE!! Bathrooms are clean, seats are reclined but I'd prefer a higher recline for my legs and so did my friends but I get that it has to be flexible for all heights. Lastly, watch where you park because there's a bar across the parking lot below. My friend came back to a scratched up bumper we think was from someone who was drunk!
