Soooo freakin delicious! I loved the atmosphere for real , so rockish and it was really a vibe . From the music to the decorations everything was perfect ! This is a place where you order and pay at the front all together but staff was really nice ! Our food didn't long and it was a really fun date ! Came on a wed and surprisingly it was just me and my boyfriend , and I didn't mind that but I did notice even if it was busy one thing that def caught my eye was how spacious all the tables were from each other ! I feel as if some restaurants cram their tables but not here and you get to pick your seat as well as outside tables . We ordered the trio sliders which had 3 sliders and all different flavors , they were all super tasty and I love that they had their own making (the frito , and chili one was super yummy ) even tried the fried pickles which were also 10/10 the batter crust stayed on and didn't fall apart ! I had seen this business from the highway AND numerous times while leaving the Pearl! I honestly thought it was closed down because I hadn't heard much about it. To my surprise this is such a gem of a restaurant AND intimate music venue. I came here to see Anuhea last night and we arrived early to eat. We grabbed a quick meal and unfortunately didn't get to try the burgers, which means I WILL return to try the burgers. We quickly ate/shared fried pickles, fries and chicken tenders. My coworker wanted to stop in and try this place out. This place is tucked away right by the Pearl. When we walked inside we were immediately greeted by staff. Staff were patient as we looked over the menu. We ended up ordering snacks and drinks. We ordered Frito pie, fried mushrooms and fries. We need to come back and try the burgers. Our food came out pretty quickly and staff brought it to our table. The place is pretty big despite its outside appearance. There is plenty of seating. There is fun decor throughout the restaurant. This joint gets the fourth star from two things: the nostalgia vibe and obvious live music/entertainment space. Love the license plates, large oils company signed, old vinyl record covers, autographed photos, etc. Cool vibe. But here's the issue: the pricing just doesn't make sense. The burger alone is $15 with no sides. Then it's another $4 for a small side or $9 for a large, plus $2 for a drink. You're easily looking at close to $30 for a basic cheeseburger meal. Even with their "combo" deal (adding fries and a drink for $5), it still comes out to about $25 after tax and tip -- way too steep for what you get. The queso and salsa really need improvement -- its definitely canned nacho cheese or Velveeta, and it's $10 for that? Definitely disappointing. It's a shame because the burger itself is great! If it were $15 with fries and a drink included, I'd have no complaints. Unfortunately, with these prices, we won't be back. read more

Had a great lunch at Sam's Burger Joint in San Antonio! The ladies at the register were super friendly and helpful, sharing their personal and fan favorites with us. We went with the mushroom Swiss burger and fried pickles--both were absolutely delicious! The vibe was awesome, even with a few large lunch groups--it still felt laid-back and enjoyable. The music was on point, and the quirky decor added to the fun. We were dining with someone visiting from out of town, and one of the staff kindly shared the story behind the photos and history on the walls, which made the experience even better. Stopped in at Sam's on Friday night a couple of weeks ago. I left this review on Google, but it never posted..so I'm putting it here. There was a couple entering directly behind us carrying a basket. As we (my party) approached the counter to place our order, the other couple walked to the bar over to the left. The tall lady with tattoos was cleaning the tables...never acknowledged us, walked passed us at the register and went to the couple with the basket. Turns out there was a kitten on the basket and the tattooed lady along with another female staff member were playing with the kitten and never acknowledged my party. That was very rude to totally disregard customers standing at your register, and ultimately unsanitary to have a non-service animal being petted in an environment where food is to be served. I've been to Sams probably 30 times and each time have a good experience with minor changes in quality. My issue now is the concert venue. We saw Greg Koch (guitarist) and while we usually sit in the back facing the stage in booth 5 or 5, this time we were in Booth 2. The subwoofer and the kick drum mics were so loud that we couldn't hear the band. The entire booth was shaking and when the organ player hit bass notes it was even worse. We had to leave about an hour into the show because the sound was so bad. That's the first time this has happened and I'm assuming it was due to the booth location so a warning to others! read more

Sent compliments to the chefs in the back as the burger was cooked just right and moist. Love the feel of the inside with the music posters and album covers. Nice big burgers that don't skimp on the toppings or the taste. An unintended trip led me back to Sam's Burger Joint after a long hiatus. It was a good experience, as much as it was in the past. I love their bean burger, but this time I went with the guacamole Jack Burger. It came loaded with lots of guac' and a huge piece of cheese that pretty much wrapped the burger. I always love their sweet potato fries, but they also have tater tots, regular fries, and fried pickles. Next time I will re-investigate their fried pickles. I got street parking for a quarter (yep, 25¢) for the hour. They have a small bar, but I was in uniform and decided to quench my thirst in bottomless Texas sweet tea, that I transitioned to an Arni Palmer on our way out. If I had the opportunity, I would certainly return to hang out for the live music entertainment that Sam's is known for. I'm glad I got a chance to revisit Sam's. Came here during lunch with coworkers. Not my choice but I was pleasantly surprised by my order. No the Jamaican Jerk Samwich wasn't authentic jerk, at least the jerk I've had. It was just a very flavorful, well done and seasoned piece of chicken. The tots were just normal tots, not great but not bad. We did order nachos. These were also just ok. The place is pretty cool, and had a great time looking all over the walls and ceiling. My rating is mostly for just my order, as I can't pick off my coworkers plates like I do with family. Came here on a Wednesday afternoon easy parking, wasn't busy but sadly very disappointing. Which is a shame as we really wanted to like this place. The service was sub par, the food was way too greasy I had to tilt my burger so all the grease could drip out super gross it seemed like nothing had flavor or seasoning at the very least could have used salt we ordered two cheddar burgers one was suppose to be bacon cheddar but the cashier got it wrong so we got two cheddar burgers, guacamole burger and a mushroom Swiss burger we tried sweet potato fries regular fries onion rings and an order of fried mushrooms.. it was a total of four people dining and we all said the same thing way too greasy and no taste on any of it maybe they forgot about the salt and pepper lol so in conclusion this place is making it to our never again list read more

7/10 Got two cheddar burgers and the burgers are really good. I would say a 7/10 . I don't care for the pickles and the mustard so I probably wouldn't do that again. But that's just personal preference. The fries are really good . The fried pickles are in spears , the batter is really good, but I probably wouldn't get them again.
