This is a beautiful bar located in the Creamery district near the Pearl. The ambiance of the bar is classy with a piano off to the left side when you walk in to the lounge. There is roof top seating. The roof top is where we hung out on a Saturday night. It's does get busy after 8pm so come early if you want a seat at the roof top. There is a dress code; dress to impress. Don't come in with sneakers and a cap. I did take off one star due to not having all the drinks on their advertised menu. read more

I was finally able to get to check out the new Creamery district and Amelia Social Lounge was at the top of my list. As you walk in, the motif is a speak easy type vibe with low lighting and dark colors inside. They have a dj playing upbeat ultra-lounge style music. They have an extensive drink menu with a long list of wines so there is something for everyone. Our server was super friendly, and she ran us through the options and made some good suggestions. As usual, I start off with my standard Old Fashioned and it was made just right. Next up, I tried the Whiskey Smash which was a made well and really was refreshing. Cudos to the bartenders. We are service industry and i understand the desire to close early on a slow night but that was pretty frustrating given we made a drive to check it out. The front door security escorted out a visibly incoherent man that was bothering us which we greatly appreciated! We didn't try the food nor search elsewhere for the other bar areas but it was honestly a really nice place. Their menu is decently priced for it being cocktails/wine. Beware they do charge an auto gratuity of 18% I believe that is stated in the menu. I hadn't read that but I'm was completely fine leaving extra tip for the staff since they were really friendly and attentive! Oh, their restrooms are clean and decor top notch. Loved it!! Went in on a Sunday night. The place wasn't too crowded and the atmosphere was nice and quiet. I was able to find a seat at the bar and was able to navigate the menu easily and was able to try old several old fashioned drinks. By far my new favorite has to be the rum old fashioned. Came during the grand opening week on a Saturday around 9:30 PM & it was a packed house! I would love to return during a more low key time but I really enjoyed the amazing live music. The decor is beautiful, and ambiance is upscale. There were 6 of us in our party. Be aware there is a dress code- one friend was asked to remove his hat and told that t shirts were normally not acceptable, but he was still allowed entry. Unfortunately I was only able to get one drink as the line for the bar was very long, but I would say that just speaks to how excited everyone was to try this new spot. Special thanks to Sebas for the hospitality. Can't wait to return and sample a bit more of what Amelia has to offer. Saw a negative review and would say it should be taken with a grain of salt as all the staff seemed to be working super hard to accommodate the very large crowd. My girlfriends and I joked that the place may be for 20 somethings only as it is so dark in the lounge area behind the bar that you simply can not even read the menu. The waitress was so sweet and brought us an extra lamp, so we had two. One was small, so we passed it around so the menu could be read . The dark does add to the ambiance, I guess, and the decor is very cool, so I get it, but..... Unfortunately of the seven drinks we asked for 4 couldn't be created because the bar did not have the ingredients. whoever you get as your bartender definitely makes or breaks the experience! we've had great nights here with sweet bartenders, but sometimes you get unpleasant ones. our bartender last night was letting us know they closed at 10 at 8:59 when it was pretty much empty. they were unfriendly and didn't make us feel welcomed or wanted there. we noticed the new auto gratuity which kind of explained them not trying to be kind. the bartender on the rooftop however was incredibly sweet and kind and we enjoyed our time up there much more! read more

Bottom line: This place is the wish.com version of Bohanan's Bar. It's still in the process of figuring out how to run itself, but my experience here made me feel like they don't have the right bartenders or people adequately managing the whole thing. There was a 'slapped together' feeling to it all. The crowd is already hit or miss. The night I went, it was anything but classy. For now, I'll stick to a tried-and-true like Bohanan's Downstairs Bar, Sternewirth Bar or The Palm. They have the experience and gravitas to understand how a bar like this needs to be run. I do hope to see Amelia figure things out. I support new choices in San Antonio, but do think that the bar needs to be set a lot higher going forward. read more

I love Amelia's! It's such a great concept. Easy Baby below and Lunatique right above. All beautiful atmospheres. Drinks are so delicious. I prefer to come during the week because the weekend gets so busy. It's almost impossible to catch a table. And no reservations. First come, first serve. I've tried to come with a group twice on Saturdays and... unless you're getting there at like 7-8pm, give it up lol. It gets packed! Rightfully so! But the weekdays are more laid back and I appreciate that vibe. My only criticism is the food is just okay. I would eat before coming here. It's not bad, but don't save your appetite for it. It's a nice option to have food though when you're drinking. I love that they have a dress code and it seems they enforce it. We need more upscale bars like this in San Antonio and Amelia's is definitely setting the tone! read more
