We got to the appointment early and asked to look at the selection - there wasn't a good selection for me. Everything was 5x sizes too big & not a lot of dresses to pick from. We told her after seeing the selection - we weren't interested in trying anything on and we wanted to cancel our appointment. She asked to see my dress inspo, so when I showed her the dress I wanted, she laughed and told me that the store had "invented" that dress, but had to make changes to it. In my mind, you don't have to make changes to a dress you invented - you have to make changes to a dress that you copycat so you don't get in trouble from the original designer. After all of this, she told us we would still have to pay a $50 fee even though we showed up an hour early, and weren't interested in anything. Mind you, there was no one in the store other than us. I have never written a yelp review before, but this interaction put a bad taste in my mouth & tainted what was supposed to be a good experience. I would recommend going somewhere else if you are wanting a better selection and service.

First of all, I called at maybe 3:30 on a Saturday to see if I could just come in and look around. They told me they had availability at 4pm. They closed at 5pm, but I had no idea until it was well past 5 and I asked them what time they closed. They did not rush me at all! I was a little back and forth on my top dress. Plus my mom wasn't there, and she wouldn't let me commit to it without her there. They were totally understanding and let me schedule another tentative appointment that next Monday. (They even let me FaceTime my mom and take pics of the dresses I had on). When Monday morning hit, my mom wanted me to try on some other options, so we hit another shop before going back to The Bride's Shop. I found a dress I absolutely fell in love with, but wanted to try on that first dress again just to be sure I could commit. Before we could even head back to the Bride's Shop, they called me and asked if I wanted to come back in, and had the dress ready to go when I got there! My mom, however, spotted the same dress I fell in love with at the first store, and they let me hop from one dress to the other as many times as I wanted in order to decide. Kennan was so patient and helpful! She put multiple different accessories on me so I could get the full effect. I would highly recommend going to the Bride's Shop!

The problem was that I had been looking for months for a wedding dress that would satisfy the desires of both my inner child, with her fairy-tale inspired princess-dress dreams, and at the same time my current, more refined fashion appetite that channeled such icons as audrey, jackie, every Prada thing ever made. Further, I wanted to find a modest dress that I could wear to get sealed in a Temple, which is believed by my church to be a highly sacred House of God for those non-Mormon's out there. Well, after much searching I had at least made some solid decisions: No sequence, pearls, lace, or any embellishments. I wanted to focus on the quality of the fabric, lines, and construction of the dress, and I didn't want the integrity of these key elements to be compromised by gaudiness. I wanted pure silk. I wanted beautiful ruching. I wanted mermaid style, old hollywood elegance. And I wanted it all under $3,000. Preferably under $2,000. That's where Penny, the dressmaker behind "Penelope's" came in. She was referred to me by the same highly trusted source who recommended my photographer. Going to see Penny for the first time, I felt like I was Cinderella going to her fairy godmother with a pumpkin and some rats. I was sure I would get laughed at for my unrealistic desires, and talked into a standard, boring, mormon cut-out of a dress (read: t-shirt style short-sleeved top, puffy A-line skirt. Buttons down back. Long veil.) I was all but shaking. But that was not the case! Penny listened and took notes, and even presented me with a book of silk samples to choose from. She sketched out the dress with my direction, and then quoted me a price that almost took the wind out of me. I wanted to shout from the rooftops- "The Church is True!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" If they don't have the style you want they can order it for you. They have a large selection of bridesmaids dresses, but not that many different styles. Our stylist was on the high pressure side of the appointment, and was constantly complaining about her boss. She was more mentally pre-occupied with other things than physically helping us find the perfect dress.

From the moment we walked in, we were taken great care of. We were the only party in the shop for an appointment which was nice as it gave us a more intimate experience but overall it was an intimate space in general. Even though my friend already spoke to a coordinator beforehand about the dress she loved and wanted to purchase, the associate Beth that was assigned to help us still let us browse the store and pulled a bunch of alternate options for my friend as well. Overall, I believe she tried on at least 6 different dresses and of course she tried on the one that she fell in love with online as well. Beth was extremely sweet and always encouraging every time my friend came out of the dressing room in a new gown- she is the ULTIMATE hype woman. She genuinely seemed like she enjoyed her job and made the whole experience happy and positive for everyone. Beth listened to what my best friend liked and didn't like and pulled alternates even though again, she had one particular dress in mind. In the end, my friend chose the dress that she originally fell in love with online but we wouldn't have gotten there if it wasn't for Beth! I told them my budget for a VEIL was $900 and they were very unhelpful because of my budget. They showed me 2 veils. Didn't really ask or ofter to show anything else. I can't imagine a bridal shop would not have any veils for less than $1000. Made all kinds of comments about my budget. I was not happy and wanted to leave.

Then in July, the bridal shop received the dress but it had imperfections in the material that looked like burn marks on the satin (pictures attached.) They were all over the dress. Then they sent the "fixed" dress to the bridal shop today and it still has the same imperfections in the satin. What the hell? We are going to send it back again but I am so tired of this. I thought I picked a great designer, but this has been the biggest headache and the most unprofessional business I've dealt with.
