Appointments are a must if you would like a stylist to help you, or if you would like to try a dress on. There are a fair amount of styles to choose from in sizes up to 24. If they don't have the style you want they can order it for you. They have a large selection of bridesmaids dresses, but not that many different styles. Our stylist was on the high pressure side of the appointment, and was constantly complaining about her boss. She was more mentally pre-occupied with other things than physically helping us find the perfect dress. read more

She didn't remember any of the dresses I asked to see. She had no idea how to clip the dresses whatsoever. I didn't expect A+ service, but still was hoping for slightly more attention. The dresses were well priced for the styles and quality, but the service and state of the store were sub par. My cousin went to David's Bridal for her dress and it turned out to be a disaster. The worst part was their poor customer service and placing the blame of their mess up on her. Her experience explained by her sister: "The dress she found needed sleeves. She paid for the dress and the alterations and they used the wrong material without her permission. They blamed it on the one she chose being out of stock. But they never mentioned it to her before they sewed the sleeves on and then they added extra layers of material because the back was kind of see through." "And the dress does not fit all. And they won't give her a refund!" The worst part is that they didn't try to make it right, instead they made a bunch of excuses. I almost bought a dress from David's Bridal for my wedding and what a blessing that I didn't end up going through with it. Bought my wedding dress here for $500 and was really satisfied with it, but alterations were a NIGHTMARE. They tried to charge me $400 for a simple satin hem, a slightly smaller waist, and added bra cups. I couldn't afford that so I asked for just the bra cups and waist, which cost me $150. When I got the dress back, the bra cups were barely sewn in. I'm going to another reputable seamstress tomorrow and she's going to hem the dress and fix the cups for less than $70. Get your dress here but don't waste your time with alterations. There are much cheaper, better tailors around. read more

Well my experience here today was really a mixed feeling. When I first walked in there was someone friendly greeting you. After that the staff seem to have disappeared. It was so hard to find someone to help you. My friend, who is the bride, was looking for a dress to wear for her dinner section of her wedding. She picked out a dress from their website and brought it into the store. The person working there told her to go look for it herself, and when my friend couldn't find it they don't even try or bother to look for it, they just quickly say they don't have it. We had to go through the racks ourselves to find a proper dress for my friend. After find a couple of dresses my friend was walking all over the store to find someone to get her a fitting room. After we got a fitting room there was no one to help us, we were left there to ourselves, if we wanted more dress or another size we would need to go around the store looking for it ourselves. Finally after we tried out a couple of dresses I finally saw someone that worked there and asked for help. She was pretty helpful and helped us find more dresses that we didn't even notice. After a while she was trying to figure out everything for us ESP with the wedding coming up and we don't really have much time left to fit the dress and have it refitted if something goes wrong. All in all this place have some people who are willing to help but you do need to find the right person. As for stock wise and stuff, kinda hectic, not much of a system to find things. read more

I am writing this review to thank the amazing women and men who work at the David's Bridal in SLC. I was a bride who was on top of her game-- I chose my dress at a boutique store in Fort Collins in November for my September wedding. I'll admit, I stuck my nose up at the idea of getting my dress at a "big chain" store. And when my dress arrived from the boutique in Fort Collins, it had a hole in the illusion lining that could not be repaired by the seamstress. Fast forward several weeks, and the store continued to drop the ball on communicating with the designer, and before I knew it, I was 4 weeks away from my big day, and without a dress. I LOVED that dress-- there's a reason that I chose it. But here I was, stuck up S**t creek without a paddle, shopping for a new backup dress, last minute. The girls who worked with me at David's were kind, compassionate, and apologetic for my situation even though they weren't the ones to create it. They were patient with me and allowed me to try on faaaar more dresses than I think a bride usually does in an appointment. They waited patiently as I whined about how each dress still wasn't MY dress, and several hours later, when I finally came upon the [backup] dress of my dreams, they worked with me to come up with a financial solution to fit my situation. You see, my previous dress was already paid for in cash, and the boutique store didn't want to give me a refund since there was still a chance they could have the dress fixed in time for my wedding... and yet I didn't really have the money to purchase a back up dress in cash, again. And I wasn't sure if I would need the backup dress anyway, if my other dress really did come in time. I was stuck-- do I pay for and take home this dress, and have it altered, only to find out that I could wear my original dress?? The women at David's had a solution-- they would put my dress on layaway for only 61 dollars down, and if my other dress didn't come in time, I could come to Salt Lake and pick up my backup dress at any time. They even gave me a $100 discount on the whole price of the dress if I agreed to this layaway plan. So, $61 for peace of mind. In the end, I was able to wear my original dress. My mom called David's bridal to let them know so that they could release my backup dress back into the inventory, and guess what they did? They refunded the $61 dollars. They said they were just incredibly sorry I had to go through what I did, and that they wished me the best of luck on the wedding. I can tell you now from experience that the wedding industry is a greedy, money-making monster. But what David's Bridal did for me not only gave me peace of mind for the big day, but also restored some of my faith in humanity and reminded me that there are still some good people out there. These ladies (and the one gentleman who was our cashier the day we set up the layaway) went out of their way for me in more than one way, and I can't thank them enough! read more

I absolutely loved the dress I found here! Alteration ladies were super nice and helpful. However, they promised to do things that weren't done. For example, they told me my veil would be steamed, but when I picked it up, it was crumbled in the dress bag. There are loose strings all over my dress, and multiple people told us they would be tied and cut off, but that was not done and they refused to do it. I had fabric sewn into the top, but it looks a little rushed. Overall, I am still very satisfied with my dress, I just wish there was more transparency with what they were and weren't going to do because we kept getting told things would be done, but ultimately weren't. read more

My experience here was middle of the road. I found a dress I love in one appt so that's definitely worth 3 stars. The staff is definitely overly pushy with upselling, to the point of awkwardness at times. I was in a room getting dressed and I overheard someone come and pitch a credit card for me to apply for to my friends, and she kept on even after my friend said she'd have to ask me about that. Comedy. I also think it's lame that you have to pay $10 for a crappy non-waterproof garment bag to carry out your dress in. We were so exited to go try on dresses and we got there, we were told to wait for our stylist girl. We waited and it was fast but she greeted us with no politenes, no proffesional manner, not even a smile. Overall not helpfully at all, and we we're very upset at the effort and enthusiasm she had to help the bride find a dress. It was a young girl in a white and black striped dress. Alterations appointment was terrible. Staff member kept trying to get me to commit to boob cups even though I said I didn't want them. It took another staff member telling him I didn't want them for him to let it go. He dismissed my interest in having the pockets sewn shut simply because he prefers pockets. He laughed at me several times, and when I asked "why are you laughing at me?" he laughed again and said "I just like to laugh." He stuck his hand inside the dress to grab the tag without first asking if he could stick his hand under the fabric. I expressly stated I was not going to commit to alterations today and it took 3 more times than necessary for the staff to finally accept that. Gave us lots of options for alterations and offered financing options. They had the dress we picked available and double checked to make sure it would available for a future purchase. I had a terrible experience getting my dress altered with David's Bridal. When I went in to pick up my dress, it was too short. You can see my feet sticking out of the bottom of the dress. I'm wearing flats on my wedding day, and I was measured in them. Not to mention, they didn't even bother to do a proper hem. They merely folded the dress up and stitched around it. It added so much weight to the bottom of the dress that it completely changed the silhouette of the dress. And the most infuriating part is that they charged me more for the bottom hem stating that it was more complicated ($75). If I could give them less than one star I absolutely would. I wouldn't recommend using their alteration service to anyone. They also charged me $20 to attach my belt to my dress, and it hangs below the ribbon at my waist. I paid $20 for two minor stitches that are placed incorrectly. read more

I honestly didn't have too high of an expectation going dress shopping with a friend here. I know and understand that this store is more for the customer that is shopping on a budget, and with most things, you get what you pay for. So, I was surprised to see so many negative reviews. We had a great experience! Rachel assisted us, and she was FANTASTIC! She was professional, patient and very helpful. If you are wanting to book an appointment to look at dresses, I would absolutely recommend booking with Rachel. Nicole, the manger was also very helpful. I know that we lucked out by finding the perfect dress. It looked like a $1,200.00 dress, but was only $450! It also fit PERFECTLY. They offer layaway, and in-store returns. My only negatives are that they don't offer cash returns for their customers. They also don't do holds. If the costumer felt safe to hold their dress for even 48 hours before making a significant purchase like that, then I think they would have more sells. Also changing the return policy would be great. What if a bride just simple changed her mind before the wedding? I hope that corporate will consider those suggestions. As far as the experience in the store and with the employees, it was great experience and the dress is perfect! read more

My rating for David's Bridal was brought down to two stars not so much from the dress shopping experience, but from their alterations department. We ordered my beautiful dress in a size 0 and it arrived much quicker than I thought it would. At my first fitting the dress fit pretty well, there were just some small alterations that needed to be made (taken in a little bit, sweethearting the neckline, a little length taken off.) My next fitting the dress was WAY too big in the chest, waist, hips and length. And my sash accessory and veil were no longer with the dress, they had been misplaced. A new alterations specialist was helping me than my last fitting who didn't speak the best english, I tried asking why the dress felt bigger when it was supposed to be taken in. She told me I must have lost weight. One of the floor attendants provided me with a new sash and veil without any trouble which was nice. My fitting after that the dress was STILL too big and too long. It was taken in again Next fitting, trying the dress on and It still just doesn't feel right. But the associates tell me it looks beautiful. I ask if they can take it in more and they tell me that I need to still be able to sit down and move around. So I trust their opinion and take the dress home. I try the dress on a few days before my bridal pictures and the dress feels just so big. I glance at the tag on the back of the dress and notice that it is a SIZE 4. It was supposed to be a size 0. No wonder I had to have the dress taken in several times. I discovered that the original first dress I tried on at my first fitting had been the correct size 0. My next fitting, my dress had somehow been switched with someone else's same style dress (explaining why my sash and veil went missing). I took the dress to David's bridal and explained the situation. They told me that they could not order the size 0 in time for my wedding, but they could take this size 4 in more so it would be smaller than a 0. At this point, this dress has been taken apart and put back together so many times that it's not even the same dress anymore, all of the detail I loved about the dress has been lost. Alteration lady says she can take the dress in quite a bit more, she does. I get a phone call saying that "Our Orem location has your dress in a size 0 and we are shipping it to our location for you!" YAY this is great. A week goes by and I call to check if the dress has come in yet (since it's just coming from Orem, how long could it take?) The associate says "No, no, no the dress is being shipped from the East Coast TO our Orem store and then to OUR location". OMFG. My correct size got here with two weeks to spare before the wedding. I spent over $2,000 at David's bridal and it was not worth it. I was told that they would refund ALL of my alterations, but when I got up to the counter was told they could only give me 50% Of the alterations back. I asked them to call corporate and see what else they could do and was given only $75 back off of my $1,250 dress. The cherry on top is when I put my dress on to take my bridal pictures, the bustle (button on the back of dress that holds the train up) had been sewn THROUGH the entire dress to the front. I couldn't get the dress on because there was a gigantic thread going through my entire gown. I couldn't trim the thread because I would lose the bustle button so I ended up cutting a small piece of the inside of my dress off just so I wouldn't have to deal with Davids Bridal again. I apologize for such a long and drawn out story, but I wanted to give a heads up when working with the alterations department. Check your size. When looking back it seems so obvious that I had the wrong dress and I should have looked into it more, but the bottom line is I trusted David's Bridal and I got screwed over. As if I'm not already stressed enough planning an entire wedding, this whole situation pushed me over the edge. read more

I loved my experience, I got help from the manager and she was super helpful. She ended up taking over my fitting and finding the perfect dress that I ended up purchasing that day. I am so happy with the dress I chose. UPDATE: I gave it 5 stars originally and now it's moved to 2 stars. First my head piece was defective, they had the wrong color gem on it which caused me to re-order it. My alterations didn't come in on time. I scheduled it for Oct 31 and they weren't done alternating my dress. My appointment was at 1 pm and I didn't leave the store until 5 pm. Finally, the bridesmaids dresses were defective. The stitching was off making the bras of the dress lumpy and off center. I know this may be a manufacture issue but they need to screen the dresses and items before we drive down to the store and it's 45 minutes away. I've talked to all the mangers and every time we go in they seem to have something wrong going on. They need to inspect the dresses before we come down to pick them up. If something is wrong, call the customer and tell her the dress is delayed. This is pathetic. read more

I've been here several times with my daughters for prom dresses and wedding things. The sales people usually aren't very helpful or they pressure you to buy things you don't want. There aren't any mirrors in the dressing rooms so you have to go out in the very public area to see how things look. You need to be assigned a stylist to even try things on. read more

I had a horrible experience at davids bridal this afternoon. I first started by going to the layton location. I did not have an appointment and when they told me they didn't have any appointments until later I asked if they could check with the salt lake location. They told me I would need to call them myself. Eh no big deal right? So I called and made an appointment and headed to the slc location. Upon my arrival at my appointment time I was asked to fill out paperwork and then they said it would be a few minutes. My mother and I walked around the store and looked at displays. Thirty minutes later with no help I decided to ask someone. They had misplaced my paperwork and completely forgot about me. Finally when we were helped by our consultant, we began trying on dresses. Our consultant was a nightmare. Zero social skills, didn't listen to anything I said and disappeared half the time. I spent more time standing around in dresses that I didn't like because I was left there with nothing. The consultant next to me with another family actually talked to me more and helped me more than my assigned consultant. She did not seem to be interested or doing her job. She even said once that she brought me a dress she thought that I would not like. I did not have a good time and she eventually just said well I've shown you everything we have. I had tried on maybe 8 dresses. None of which were anything that I described to her that I like. I ended up just saying we would look somewhere else and left. read more

I don't have too high of expectations so my experience wasn't too bad. The two ladies who helped me find a dress were very nice and helpful even though there were a ton of people in there. I was also able to find a beautiful and affordable dress. The alterations people were also great. The only concern of mine was that I had a corset back added to my dress and the fabric insert that covers your back was sewn in a bit too high, so it was obvious that it was added to the dress not designed that way. Upon further inspection I noticed that it was only sewn in by hand with with only a few stitches to hold it, so I just undid the stitches and re-sewed it in myself. It makes me feel a lot better about the dress after my simple fix, but it is still very frustrating after I spent $300 in alterations... read more

Went here to try on some dresses. The sales people were not very helpful. We went though and picked out 16 dresses we liked, then they told us we could only try on three. When I was trying the dresses on they didn't help me. They asked me to have someone that came with me help me. When I came out to view the dress that's the only time I saw the sales associate. Went through the dresses quick so then we tried on a total of 8 dresses. Wasn't a huge fan of the selection. We cleaned up and walked ourselves out. Ah, David's Bridal... I have now vowed that when my un-born daughters have their weddings permitting David's Bridal is still in business, that I will make them wedding dresses myself in order to avoid going to such a generic, un-professional dress store. 1st of all the appointment thing is ridiculous. NO ONE should ever be "rushed" into picking out their wedding dress. 2nd. My maid of honors dress was ordered wrong...TWICE! The part# was correct on the invoice but my sales clerk just couldn't get it right. Everyone makes mistakes, but her tone with me after the 1st time and then the 2nd time blaming the error on me and actually walking away was out of line. My mother then called corporate to complain due to the rudeness & ineffectiveness to rectify this issue by the store manager. Mom ended up leaving several messages and they NEVER called her back We finally were able to pick up her correct dress 2 weeks before the wedding. (Pressing us for alteration time) Because they want to price gouge you with every detail, including the alterations...we took the all of the dresses to my parents recommended alterations place. Weddings are stressful enough without drama at the dress store and their clerks. read more

My stylist was great, & really worked with me & what i needed and wanted for my wedding dress. all was great until the manager Connie came over and started helping out. She was stressing me about time (even though i had about 45 minutes of my appointment left) & she was being REALLY rude towards my family & being really dismissive towards them. she even came into my dressing room to apologize because she didn't want to offend anyone, but again we were just "low on time". In the end i did find a dress that i loved, & i'm lucky to have gotten a stylist that i loved or else I think i would've had a worse experience. read more

I didn't have the problems mentioned by other people. I had been here a few times and each time they were very considerate of what I wanted to try on. They let me pick out options and try them all on. The only issue I found is because they are a chain, they don't have many dresses with sleeves already made. I'd suggest going to a Utah only store for that. I found a wonderful strapless dress but it would take 1 month to sew in sleeves. I opted for a bolero which they are great with offering suggestions and even matching with your dress fabric. Only takes 1-2 weeks for that to be sewn up (and it was much cheaper all over than buying a dress elsewhere with sleeves, plus it was more unique!). read more

As a wedding planner, you help your bride and groom to be, in almost everything. One of the things I enjoy the most is wedding dress shopping with the bride and her company. I usually help them with previews things, and then let the people at the wedding dress stores to lead and help them pick things. My last wedding was my sister's, which was quite special, yet more stressful than the other ones I've done, because with family is always hard to find perfection. The wedding dress shopping at David's the first time was incredible. My sister found the one, and her helper was incredibly nice. The next times we went we had so many issues with the shoes. It was the worst. It really was, but if it wasnt for that one experience at the beginning i would have owned this place with less stars. They have quite a selection on dresses, which is a plus. ALSO, keep in mind, they do not return your money, you can exchange things if needed, or get store credit, but the moola doesn't leave that place. read more

I have had two very discouraging experiences with this David's Bridal. First I called to make an appointment a week and a half before I wanted to come in, I was told they were full and that I needed to manage my time better and plan ahead in the future... I thought a week and a half was plenty of time. I had a friend who got in on the date that I had called about after I called, so I decided to look at appointments online. There were 7 available for the date that I called about, obviously the rude lady I spoke with didn't want to do her job and book an appointment. When I finally went in the sales women was very rude, not helpful and made me feel like an inconvenience to her. I had already had some of my bridesmaids purchase their dresses here or I would not have given them any business. That is another story, and again not a great one. They told 2 of my bridesmaids the complete wrong size and wouldn't rectify their mistake. This should be an exciting, wonderful, and positive day for a bride and instead it turned into being a terrible day. I purchased my wedding gown elsewhere and am happy to have done so. read more

One was 4 sizes too small, the other one the staff were arguing with me about straps that should have came with the dress, that didn't. My dress (bride) I had to go in 3 times because the dress didn't fit right or some of the sewing was falling apart. They never have enough people working there even with an appointment. I will never go back here again! Maid of honor and bridesmaids dresses are better off finding something off amazon. This place made me laugh! I went here with my cute sister-in-law to be. She had an appointment in the morning. She picked out a few dresses, tried them on, and then said that she really didn't like any of them. She wanted to go out and look again for more. The sales lady said that they would not allow that. They said that because she had picked out a few already, they knew what she liked and would pick some and bring them back to her. What?!! She can't go out and pick out her own freaking wedding dress? Why? They also said that they had other appointments that day and that she only had an hour to look. Again, WHAT THE HECK?! You want her to pick out the most important dress of her life in an hour? They were not busy at all. She was the only bride trying on dresses. Why was she being rushed on her special day? At that point I would have walked out of there, but she did find a dress that she really liked. It needs one small alteration. I hope that they will not screw it up! Bottom line: come here if you love to be rushed and you are okay with THEM picking dresses for you rather than trying on dresses that you pick. McKilee, the assistant store manager, went out of her way to make sure I not only had the perfect dress, but that every time I left, I was happy with the results. The first dress I chose, my family didn't like. I went back to look frustrated and nervous I wouldn't find anything. McKilee and her team not only found THE perfect dress for me, but after alterations of adding sleeves made it the dress of my dreams. I felt like a Princess. The whole process was easy and stress free thanks to them. Everyone needs to give this location a try. You won't regret it. Thank you to McKilee and everyone at David's Bridal. I hate to say this, but this place is like the Walmart of bridal shops. The dresses are not fantastic (from a matter of opinion). But here's why I gave it 1 star: impersonal attention to the client. We stood in line for 8 minutes trying to check in to our appointment. After checking in, they told us to look around. 15 minutes later our bridal consultant found us, brought us to our room, and gave us a few dresses to try on (after listening to what I like and don't like). The consultant didn't try to help the bride into the dress, the consultant barely helped us with anything(the dresses can be heavy and complicated!) We even had to clip the dresses ourselves. She just asked the bride if she liked it didn't like the dress, and then brought out another one. Wedding dress shopping should be personable, and a lovely experience. Also, there were at least 6 other brides trying on dresses at the same time so it was really claustrophobic. read more

My daughter found her perfect dress. We figured with the sheer volume David's does, we were safe in having it altered there also. WRONG! Weeks before the wedding she went to pick up her dress. The lining had been sewn in all puckered in the back neckline. Invisible when you are trying on in the mirror. The dress looked basically butchered from behind. When we called to try to right the situation. We were denied repair (couldn't do it in time and she had accepted it) and were denied refund also. AMAZING!
