Bought a Groupon for my friend's birthday and she spent 2 months trying to call them to get in contact to schedule an appointment. They never answered. Both her fiance and I also tried. After finally emailing them, calling, messaging on Facebook and then on their official website, I got a response. I loved my day at the Spa. The spa is now on the bottom floor of the building in a refreshing new space that says come and relax! The facility is clean and nicely decorated. 5-star massage by Nathan! It was actually one of the best massages I've had. I get a lot of knots from working out, and sometimes massages end up being more painful than anything. This one was therapeutic and relaxing at the same time - a combination that can be hard to come by. Definitely a win with the Groupon, and the regular prices were reasonable as well. I can't really comment on the rest of the day spa, since I didn't get anything but a massage. It was clean, but nothing fancy. The worst facial I've had in Pittsburgh. I used a Groupon and went in on the weekend. The esthetician did not even turn on the light to evaluate my skin. She basically cleansed my skin, did a massage, and put on a mask--all things I could have done at home. She was not thorough in her technique. When I asked what her approach was to the facial, she couldn't answer the question. When we were some time into the facial, I asked if she was planning on doing any extractions. She said, "I can if you want me to," which meant using a scraper on my nose and not touching any other areas of my skin. Very disappointing experience! read more

But, Jill, you say, why would you possibly go back to this place?? Well, one night my phone rings, and it's the owner of Harmony Day Spa. She read my review, apologized, and offered me $100 gift certificate to try them again. I told her no. Yet, she insisted. Please, take this $100, and please try us again. No, I say. You're far away from me, and I'm still injured and traumatized from that massage. After a while, I just feel bad, and tell her that, yes, she could mail me the gift certificate. A few days later it arrived with a very nice letter, and I thought, "damnit if I'm not the nicest person ever. I'll go back and let her try to redeem this review." I made an appointment for a body wrap and a luxury pedicure. I arrived, was warmly greeted, and then told that the body wrap kit was in an occupied room. Wouldn't I like to try a body scrub instead? Feeling the pressure, I said sure, but then thought, "No. I don't want a body scrub. I got a foot and hand scrub last time, and it was painful. I don't want my body scrubbed here." So, I said no. I want the wrap; let's do the pedi first. The pedicure chair was, at some point in time, a working massage chair, but not anymore. She asked if I wanted some water, and brought over the tiniest plastic cup I have ever seen in my life filled with about 2 tablespoons of water. Now, I understand this is picky, but it was just strange. I felt like some sort of giant drinking out of this plastic thimble. The pedicure begins, and it's actually not bad. She put in some elbow grease to slough away callouses (my husband calls my feet hooves, so...), gave me a nice leg and foot massage, and had no troubles applying the polish. The body wrap kit became available, so we began that awkward process. Let's just say it involved green mud and those silver blankets to give to people who are in shock. At the end, however, she gave be a brief all-over massage, and it wasn't painful, nor did it injure me. So, success! I feel like this place is a solid 2 stars, which is why I gave the update 3. I visited over the weekend with my mom and sisters to celebrate my mother's birthday. We had the massage, facial and spa pedicures done. I booked it late and they were very accomodating. The prices were reasonable and the employees and the owner were all very nice and professional. Everyone enjoyed it and we all felt very relaxed when we left. We will definitely return. read more

Bought a couples massage for me and my daughter via Groupon. Had no trouble at all getting an appointment. Joanna and Rain were fantastic. The location is very clean and convenient and the massages were great! Picked up a listing of their services and found the prices to be very nice. You can hear some sounds outside of the room but nothing that diminishes the experience. We will be returning! read more

Haven't had the couples massage yet; because it is today but they already used my Groupon!!! It's showing up in my account as if we had massages on the 17th, although it is booked for today, the 18th! I left a message to verify the appointment about 30 minutes ago. Still no response. Find it strange too, that they don't shoot a text or call with a reminder a few days beforehand. The owner asked for voucher number when I booked the appointment; never had that happen before. Strange. I will update tonight after I see what transpires today. I have arthritis everywhere, and so does my husband. When we say we want a light massage, we mean a light massage. See from reviews, that some of the masseurs do not listen to the clients requests. Am in a very feisty mood now, after realizing they used my voucher. Very underhanded business practices. I love it here and have been a regular customer for the past year. Ping does extraordinary massage & facials. The spa is pristine, quiet and pretty. I love that the entire salon experience here is relaxing. I've been to other places where the sales pitches were so nonstop and intense that it negated the point of getting spa services. At Harmony Day Spa, there're no high pressure sales tactics. These aren't even needed because the high quality services sell themselves. I used a Groupon and had no problem getting in contact with them to schedule an appointment. The smell that other reviews mention, does exist when you first walk in. It smelled like maybe an animal had lived there before and cleaner over it. It didn't bother me much though and the business was visibly clean. Nathan greeted me by name and he and the other staff were both very polite. The massage by Nathan was excellent. I didn't have any concerns and really enjoyed by relaxing massage. read more

BEWARE... I read the reviews and did not think it was possible to be as bad as they described but boy, were the reviews right. It was down right gross. It smelled so strongly like urine the second I walked though the door that I almost turned around and left. It smelled sooooooo foul. The customer restroom was so dirty. The floor was actually black because it was so dirty, there was hair all over, the towel to dry your hands was a used wet towel, the soap was out and I am not sure the place has ever been cleaned. The facial I received was terrible. Rough, weird and the hand and foot rub was just an an abrasive lotion rubbed on and wiped off. Such an awful experience. I asked for a refund from groupon because it was so bad. I am no snob but honesty do not waste your money or your time on this place. read more

I visited using a Groupon for a facial with hand and foot scrub. I was unable to get an evening appt before it expired, but Ping offered to honor it a week later. This was amazing to me because typically the Groupon merchants are firm on all the fine print. I arrived just a few minutes before my appt time and the spa was what I envisioned in reading the other reviews. No frills, older building, small, but she couldn't have been nicer and I was welcomed with a smile. The facial room was small but clean and adequate. Bio elements products were used. She decided a classic European facial would best suit my skin. It was so nice, very relaxing and soothing. Yes you can hear street notice but there was also spa music playing to help you relax. The hand and foot scrub (a $20 value according to Groupon) wasn't really worth that and was only a 30 second quick massage per hand/foot w a salt scrub. But still a nice service. This isn't the most glamorous spa and some probably would be put off with the dated, worn look of the place. However the service I received and accommodation is what I consider top notch customer service. Some other high end spas I've visited don't even want to address you by name or care if you ever return again. read more

1 hour of total relaxation. The masseur, Nathan, started by asked me what areas I want insisted on, and I have to say, he did a great job. It seemed to me he combined different massage techniques to achieve what I was looking for. I usually have a hard time abandoning myself in complete relaxation, but in this case, I had no problem going with the music, dim light, eucalyptus scent and gentle massage. At times Nathan's massage strokes seemed to be in harmony with the musing playing. To me they deserve their name, my money and a great review. I purchased a half off coupon from groupon and thought I'd give this spa a try. I have been under a great deal of stress recently and I found this to be just what I needed. My masseuse was professional and geared the massage to my needs. I was so relaxed by the end and feel great! I would highly recommend the female masseuse (pam?). The only downside was that I could hear a lawnmower outside Most of the time, but I dont fault the spa for this. They did have relaxing music playing the whole time. read more

I had a coupon for this place. The massage was ok, Hardly any pressure. The worst part was my feet. I paid for a massage and a foot scrub. When she did the massage, she didn't even do the feet! I wouldn't go back to this place of THEY paid ME! I tried to book a couples massage for months and they could never accommodate two people at a time because only one employee works at a time. They never answer the phone. When we arrives the woman (Ping) refused to give me a massage because I'm in my second trimester of pregnancy (which is a perfectly safe time to get a massage, with my first child I had two massages in my second trimester). She said the only massage I could get was a pregnancy massage (which is false) and offered me a pedicure instead! We paid over $100 and she offered me a pedicure! I haven't even gone to this spa yet...and the only reason I will be going is due to a gift certificate I received that I need to use. It took me 4 tries to reach someone there over the course of the last 2 months. I tried to book the harmony package my certificate is for but couldn't get all the services preformed on the same day so I gave up and said I would call back. The second time I called to book a couples massage. My husband works 8-5 on week days so I asked for 6 pm since the hours say they are open until 7pm daily. I wasn't picky, said any day between now and June even would be okay but was told that couples massages needed to take place in the morning. What working couple can attend a massage at 10 am? The women eventually suggested a Sunday night appointment...I agreed to this but would really not be using this spa if it weren't already a paid for massage. read more

I understand they put a special on groupon and living social at the same time so they are busy but certainly not every moment of every day is booked. I toyed with the idea of booking without saying it was from groupon to see if anything magically opened up. What also is a major red flag is that they refuse to make an appointment without getting the groupon voucher information up front. Nobody has ever done that. How do i know they won't claim it as used when I haven't gone yet because they refuse to give me an appointment. They want the groupon money without giving the services. I have been trying for weeks (seriously, weeks!) for an appointment and nothing yet is open. I got a refund and used it for Glo up the street and they are AMAZING. Well... I purchased a groupon for a friend. It expires in like two weeks. When I first bought it, I called and called and called trying to schedule an appointment. When I finally got through, I was told that they couldn't schedule that far in advance (like a month) because they didn't have anything in the books for that day yet. Now, at most places, this would suggest that I could select the time that I wanted the service. However, the person who was on the other end says I'm going to just schedule it for this random day/time, and then when it gets closer, you can call to reschedule for the date/time that you actually want. Well... now it's closer. And I've been calling for over a week during their open hours as is listed on the web site. I only ever get the machine. I know from calling a month ago that I never received a return call from having left a message so, I hadn't bothered this week. Today I felt forced to leave a message because I NEED to get this scheduled for the actual time that I want it before it expires. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens. But, my guess is that this place can't get enough services booked during their "business hours" so they just don't bother to open. Maybe that says something too....... read more

The only type of relief you'll receive from Harmony Spa is the relief you get from walking out the door after spending an hour wishing for your massage to end. Not only will you walk out feeling entirely dissatisfied because the masseuse's will inevitably cut your massage time short, you'll walk out feeling like someone clubbed your back. I don't know about you, but I don't enjoy paying for pain. This spa is a complete rip off that lacks any sort of class or talent whatsoever. If you're looking for tiny rooms, uncomfortable tables, and massage therapists with too much attitude and too little talent then you have found the right place. Nothing about the couples massage was special, romantic, or relaxing. It was not only painful to experience the male masseuse's aggressive slapping and chopping of my back, but it was more painful for my boyfriend to hear the sounds and be able to do nothing about it as he himself was being subject to the pain of elbows being dug into his lower back by the female masseuse. The male masseuse kept asking how much pressure and if things were okay. Usually this would be a good thing, but it gets annoying when he does it every other minute. You end up feeling like you should be teaching him how to massage. Don't get too excited for the hands and feet treatment that is included in the couples massage. The masseuse simply rubs some scrub on your hands and feet and leaves it there. He spent about 2 seconds rubbing it off and I was left with gritty hands and feet. We walked out of there in a ton of pain, feeling completely ripped off. We will never be going back again and found ourselves asking whether the therapists ever had formal training. Quite frankly I think a 5 yr old could have given a better massage. 3 words sum up the experience. painful, painful, painful. read more

I bought a groupon for a massage here a couple years ago & was not very impressed but when groupon had a 20% discount i decided to give it another try. unfortunately, before i was able to use the groupon, i found out i was pregnant & can't get a massage during my 1st trimester & thereafter must get a pregnancy massage. it took me at least 5 times to get in touch with someone, it seems they never answer the phone, & when i did there was no mention of an upcharge. when i called back to schedule an appointment, the pregnancy massage would be full price & they were unwilling to extend my expiration date. i didnt think the 1st massage was that great & would never pay full price for their services. also i think they should be more concerned with customer service as i will never purchase a massage there & am making sure to review my experience. read more

i am extremely disgusted with this company. my mother and i recieved a gift package for christmas for a 60 minute massage and a hand and foot scrub. my mother has psoriasis which is a skin condition that causes her skin to grow faster than normal skin, not contagious at all. so she wanted to look into the massage on their website to make sure that it wouldnt effect the cost or services; especially since she is embarassed to go anywhere thinking people will judge her. on the website it says "please advise us upon booking an appointment of any medical conditions, limitations, medications, allergies and practitioner care before services." not once in that statement does it say that they will deny services or discriminate against anyone with a condition. so i finally convinced her to call and set us up an appointment after weeks of talking her into it. and she shouldnt worry what people think of her fast growing skin condition. it took a lot out of her to think in that way, and you would think that because they are a company that works with peoples skin on a daily basis that this wouldnt be a problem at all. well it was. she talked to a lady at the front desk not only did they tell her no she couldnt have any of that done (meanwhile we already paid for the services) they only offered her a facial and could only take appointments 3 days a week. and one of those days we wouldnt get in to have it done together. this has made me extremely upset at the fact that now my mother who has delt with the judgment of others all her life can not even get a massage with a company who specializes working with skin. she feels very degraded and embarassed. the descrimination is unbelieveable. i will not reccomend their services and i will be sure to share my story with as many people as i can. i will not use my certificate in response to them denying services for my mother. and i hope everyone who reads this thinks about my story as well. read more
