Generally, the work of this doctor and his staff are fine. I truly enjoyed Dr. da Costa over the 10+ times I visited over a couple of years. However, I recommended several people here and two families left after issues with the office manager. So I stopped recommending this practice but had personally stayed. I recently had an issue with the office manager as well, which was not resolved. I gave Dr. da Costa an opportunity to explain with several weeks leeway, which he did not. Thus, I have left this practice, along with the other 2 families that had unfortunately taken my recommendation. There are other dentists so I would say to avoid this one. read more

The upselling starts after the cleaning. I had a pleasant visit, many compliments on my teeth from the Dentist, all things seemed well and good on my X-ray, not even a cavity. I thought this would be my next Dentist until the hygienist started talking about a "deep cleaning treatment" asking if I have ever had one, she made it seem optional until they took me in a special room after the visit to talk to the "business manager" a woman who was adamant that I should schedule the deep cleaning which was not fully covered by insurance. I said I would like to have the traditional 6-month cleaning instead of 4-month and that I would revisit the deep cleaning idea next time if there was an issue, and the business manager (not Dentist) refused to schedule me for the 6-month appointment. When I told her that my previous Dentist had said 4-mos cleanings were unnecessary she said that I should have stayed with that Dentist. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! I am writing this as I sit her in excruciating pain still, but now worse then I was when I first walked in! This review is going to be long, since the first day I walked in this place was was back in Nov.!!! I'm worse off now then before! They are all about taking your money and not caring about your overall condition. I am permanently damaged. Lets start from the beginning, I had a tooth that was in extreme pain for a long time over a year, because I was pregnant a previous dentist could not put me under anesthesia. So, my previous dentist temporary fixed my problem area and I walked out perfectly fine with no pain and NO root canal was ever discussed. She said it needed to be filled and a crack will need to be repaired after I have baby. When I first called, I said I was in extreme pain and I needed to be seen immediately. I'll just start by saying, I have never had a dental hygienist talk about insurance ever before, as I sit in the dentist chair. When I was explaining my pain to the first dental hygienist that I met. She immediately told me I would not be being fixed today, because my insurance might not cover it. Well ok, isn't it your job to fix the problem and whatever insurance wont cover its the patient responsibility!? Not here they evaluate you and then only do the most expensive treatment insirance will pay for and not fix the problem, because they say they do things in two parts. Their two parts are, they use all your insurance and decide what you can afford and only fix what insurance pays the most out on, WITHOUT discussing it with the patient. So, I was confused we were talking insurance as I am waiting for the dentist. The OTHER dentist did such a great temporary fix, I had no reason to think this dentist was going to suggest a root canal. He noticed the crack in my tooth, and said I needed a root canal and had a cracked tooth that need to be fixed. I trusted him, after all he is a professional. I was assuming he was going to fix what we discussed. Nope! He did the root canal, and didnt fix the crack. For a month, I just though wow, root canal take a long time to heal, because now I am in worse pain, then before. Now, my jaw hurts the teeth next to the root canal hurt AND ARE STILL BLEEDING TODAY!!! I HAD NO PROBLEM WITH WITH THE WHOLE LEFT SIDE OF MY MOUTH, UNTIL NOW!!! When I called to tell them I was still in pain A mo later, the receptionist had the dr. call me. I asked about the crack, he said I didnt fix the crack beacuse we were waiting for your insurance benefits to reset for the following year in January. Everyone, in the office keeps telling me, I dont understand, I dont understand. NO!! ! I DO UNDERSTAND. I aksed them, would you send someone out of here with a cracked tooth, because they had to wait for insurance benefits or would you fix the tooth. They agreed that they would not normally send someone out with a cracked tooth knowing it! When I said that to the dr. he said because I was pregnant he didnt fix crack. Really!! HE WAS NOT LISTENING AT ALL! I am not pregnant and if that was the case he would not of been able to do a root canal. Then, he had me come back in gave me a crown and when I am telling him and the nurse I am still in pain it is hurting so much, getting fit for crown and the crown. The nurse says, you dont hurt theres no nerve anymore. I am in so much pain when they do this crown, I hear the dentist tell the nurse its the pain of the tooth next to it. Really!!! Why wouldn't you fix the entire problem in the first place!??? I never had sensitive teeth and never EVER had jaw issues until he gave me a root canel. When I told him my jaw is now hurting too, he says oh im sorry you must have jaw or joint problems and have really sensitive teeth. NO!! I NEVER HAD JAW ISSUES OR SENSITIVE TEETH until I walked in here!!! There is sooo much more about this place that makes me cringe, but I would be here all day!!! I am not sure what to do now, because I am scared to go to anther dentist and I wont step foot in here ever again!!! I want everyone I know and everyone I dont know, to KNOW about this place. Its a disaster and dont let the clean, nice office or the fake nice voices of the staff fool you. Just because someone is talking with a nice voice, but being condescending at the same time is so frustrating. Its like calling someone a bitch, but if I say it really nice then its ok!!! Just please take my word!!! You do not want to waste your hard earned money and you insurance. I am at a loss here, and not sure what action I will be taking. The only thing I do know is I am getting a second opinion and see what they say. Maybe, I will have a suit against them, because I believe they did permanently damaged me and I never needed a root canal to begin with. I have never in my life ever sued anyone. This could be the first. I am damaged beyond repair. You cant go back after a root canal and I am literally in the same pain, except worse!!!! read more

I had a crown put in a couple years ago at Harmony dental. I found out it needed to be redone,apparently it had an edge that hadn't been seated all the way down. When I contacted them they were more than happy to get me in and replaced the crown at no charge and no questions asked! Great service! Great work! read more

Harmony Dental is the best dental practice I have ever been to. Dr.Da Costa is amazing and seriously treats you just like you were his family. The whole office is great, from the front office staff to the assistants. Everyone makes you feel welcome and loved and they make sure that you know exactly what is going on at every moment. I have been coming to Harmony Dental since 2008. I have periodontal disease so I get my teeth cleaned every 3 months. The care has been exceptional. No one really likes to come to a dentist office because it's not the most fun thing to do but, Harmony has the best staff. Dental care can be very expensive and Kathy does everything she can do to get you covered with insurance you have. Katie is my hygienist and she is so good making sure that all my teeth are doing well even though my mouth is not in perfect health. Dr. DeCosta, Is a kind and gentle dentist who does not cut corners to ensure that you receive the Best care. Dr. DeCosta is thorough in his evaluations and also cautious. He leans towards a permanent solution rather than a temporary fix. I read the bad review that was posted and it is unfortunate that she had in her mind an unacceptable experience. It sounded very dramatic. It is never a good idea to come to an unfamiliar merchant with an emergency situation because you don't have time to research the business and emotions can be high with unrealistic expectations coupled with miss understandings. I noticed from other reviews that this is not the only merchant that she has issues with. read more
