​I started working with Kim when my 2 year old rescue started to develop reactive and territorial behaviors around our home. Kim was extremely thorough and took the time to learn about my dog's routines, behaviors and triggers, and tailored her approach to his needs. What I appreciated most was that Kim explained why each exercise worked, when to use it, and what we were trying to accomplish, and observed us practicing both in the home and around our neighborhood. Not only did Kim give me tools to help manage his reactivity, but she also taught me how to read subtle body language cues and recognize when he was becoming overwhelmed and intervene before he reacts. This has been invaluable in helping me understand and advocate for my dog. We have worked these tools into our everyday life, and I have seen a dramatic improvement in his reactivity. My dog has always loved to sit on our front porch, but when his reactivity increased it became too stressful for him to see people and dogs passing by. It has taken a lot of patience and consistency in implementing the tools Kim gave us, but he is now back to sitting on the porch and enjoying the environment and can often watch people and dogs pass without reacting, which I wasn't sure if he'd be able to do again. Lol We're first time dog owners and rescued our sweet & spunky Pepé in Jan 2023 (and quickly realized we were in over our heads). Pepé came to us via multiple shelters/rescues from Texas to Brooklyn. At one year old, he had been attacked by another dog at 5 months and shuffled around through multiple locations. He would bite my partner, lunge at dogs and people on walks.
